The favorite to win is Darien Waynard, the only son of the ISGP committee's chairman. Gifted, daring, and with the full backing of the committee's coffers, they say it's a fool's errand to race against him. When he's behind the wheel, he always takes a place at the podium.
Not to mention that in this race, there would be no lack of brutes, cheats, and rapscallions all vying to make it first over the finish line. Placing at all opens a lot of doors for people, and competitors are willing to do anything to make that happen for themselves. Big names, dangerous racers. For a rookie there's no winning even if you survive the course.
That's what they say.

But you're gonna prove 'em wrong. You're gonna prove 'em all wrong.

Glory, fame, and status await you if you win. Through victory in The ISGP, anything is possible. Crimes are pardoned, princesses offer their hands in marriage, gifts from every corner of the known universe are showered upon the winner.
Their name is forever known throughout every galaxy.

Oh yeah, and there's also a cash prize of one hundred trillion credits,
but who's counting?

Welcome to
โœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆ Interstellar Super Grand Prix โœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆ

โœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆ
The Setting
Part F-Zero, part IGPX, part Redline, a smidgen of Death Race thrown in, and borrowing much from a TTRPG called Gravity Rip.

It started as a sporting event to promote unity and understanding between worlds. Representatives would come together and show off their culture and their tech, letting the competitive spirit drive innovation with knowledge shared from other species. Machines and their pilots put on races to entertain and earn some bragging rights. Once kings and corporations started getting involved, it quickly spiraled out of control.

The ใ€ŒISGP Committeeใ€ oversees most organized racing events in general, and the officialใ€ŒInterstellar Super Grand Prixใ€race series has grown to be the largest sporting event in the known universe. Qualifiers take place over multiple weeks on different circuits on different planets, planets that pay exorbitant sums in order to get the chance to host them. Tens of thousands of Pilots dream of earning a spot in the line-up. Thousands apply, and hundreds are eliminated throughout these qualifiers. By the end, less than two dozen Pilots will compete onใ€ŒWoHirasใ€, the permanent stage of the ISGP Final.

Our story begins on the planetใ€ŒHx Nubilomใ€, where in just one day the first race in the ISGP series will commence...

Where YOU come in
Whether a veteran racer or a prodigious newbie, you are playing a first time participant in the ISGP. Through brute force, bribery, blatant cheating or maybe even pure skill, you have survived the qualifiers!

[ char creations stuff idfk. buy perks with stat points?? ]

Before spending creation points to make your Pilot, remember that it might be a good idea to save some of those points for your Machine! A Pilot is nothing without their Machine, and not only are they two halves of the same character sheet, but they share the same creation point pool. Make sure not to neglect it.
Your MACHINE

"Machine" is a catch-all term for the vehicles that ISGP participants pilot - and even "Pilot" in itself is a catch-all. Since the early days of the ISGP, participants have been allowed to use whatever technology suited them. Historically this has ranged from high powered automobiles to hover and repulsorcrafts to even humanoid mecha frames. Some purchase top of the line vehicles, some covert instruments of war into sporting crafts, and some build their Machine themselves from the ground up. As long as it can go fast and is suitable for racing, it's allowed.

...well, there have been some rules implemented since those early days.

As stated, the Machine must go fast. Minimum speed is ((150 MPH?)) , and there is no maximum cap. The Machine must also stay on the track, planes and ships that fly far above or skip the course entirely are barred from entry. Rule three is that all Machines must be equipped with an emergency eject - it gets dangerous out there. Weaponry, from simple cap spikes to mounted artillery, is not technically allowed either. If they are found upon Machine inspection, the Pilot will have to remove such modifications before the race. However if the Machine happens to pass inspection either through concealing them well enough or greasing a few palms, well... once the race gets going, who's going to stop you?
โœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆโœฆ

Your Machine has stats.

(NOT SET IN STONE) SPEED, ACCELERATION, WEIGHT, HANDLING, OFFENSE, STYLE

โœฆ SPEED - how fast your Machine can go.
โœฆ ACCELERATION - how quickly your Machine can reach its top speed.
โœฆ WEIGHT - your Machine's resistance against being pushed or flipping over.
โœฆ HANDLING - how well your Machine handles turns and precise maneuvers.
โœฆ OFFENSE - how good your Machine is at pushing its way through the pack.
โœฆ STYLE - Does nothing but say how fucking cool your Machine looks.

( again below not set in stone )

Acceleration and Offense could be said to be the "offensive" stats, Weight and Handling would be the "defensive" stats, Speed like a "wildcard". When you want to move up a position, you could roll against your Acceleration to blaze past those in front of you when you find an opening. Or maybe you want to get aggressive and make the opening yourself with your Offense? Successful rolls mean you'll move up... as long as the people in front of you roll worse than you. They could use their Handling to physically block your quick advance, or the bulk of their vehicle to put a stop to your pushing.

Put more simply, Acceleration > Weight > Offense > Handling > Acceleration. At least I hope that was simple. If you feel like you can instead pit your Speed against any other skill, but there is a reason you may not want to go all in on Speed: the course will also test your Machine's stats. Tight turns might require you to roll your Handling, poor conditions might have you test your Weight. And in straightaways you'd have to put pedal to metal and test Acceleration to get ahead of the pack as quickly as possible.

Each stat ranges in value from 1 to 5, with 5 being the best performance. Your Pilot knows about how fast their Machine can go, how heavy it is, etc. but the numerical value of the stats is for OOC reference and not part of the IC RP.

Your Machine has a Grade.

The Grade is the average of the Machine's stats. It's a quick way to tell a Machine's overall quality. A Machine's Grade is registered with the committee and is an IC fact known to any who have the mind to look that information up. Grades are listed as letters from A through E. A = 5, E = 1, and so on. When averaging the stats, if you get a decimal then round to the nearest whole number (up if .5 or higher, down if lower).

As an example, Johnny Fastman's Machine "HyperBlue" is Grade A, making it a top of line vehicle. Jenny Fasterman's "DragonRose" is also Grade A. But the way their players filled out the Machine stats will make the performances of each machine different. It is common for a Machine of a lower Grade to outperform one of a higher Grade in certain stats, but in general one can except a higher Grade Machine to be better quality than a lower Grade one.

A lawyer has died.

During a string of deaths each more mysterious than the last, his was both expected and underwhelming. He died of heart complications at his desk on the stroke of midnight. Another lawyer has taken his place. With a mountain of paperwork to sort through, his first order of business was to draft a series of letters. They were not pleas for help, nor offers of hire. They were notes for the collection of debt.

In an undisclosed time, at an undisclosed place, you made a deal. In exchange, you achieved something great. You received something amazing. You became someone important. You made someone else whole. You destroyed another person. You signed an IOU in blood.

In the budding spring you have traveled to the city of
Eminence at the behest of your creditor. Having pledged your life as collateral, you could not afford to do anything less than what he asked of you.
