Haha, sorry you two, I didn't see that you guys have posted! I've been slacking off with checking the guild for a bit, since I had work and I was preparing stuff, but glad to see you guys are active as ever. Like usual activity is mostly on the Discord (I use it for work/friends/family/everything at this point, so it's a given for me), but things should start to get active here too. Today I'll be doing the actual thread and posting the first IC to get things started.

@rezay I love your race, and the trait you added to them is something I really like. It's a nice thematic and balancing trait for a race of herculeans, and I love the idea of horse people despite how silly it sounds haha. And as for Big and Herculean, Herculean makes you stocky, big makes you, well, big. So yes, big and herculean together makes you stronger, but proportionally, you are only as strong for another big creature as a simply herculean race would be to a normal sized, non herculean race. I'd say at this point you're more like a race of minotaurs than horse people, but like I said, I like it a lot

Yes, I think you can do some sort of a diplomatic trait. I wouldn't be opposed to them just having "diplomatic" straight up, I think it would fit nicely with the theme you're going for in the image of these small little lizard boyos that you can find all over the island haha

And by default I'd say that all races start together within their own race, but where you start on the island is something that I'll allow you guys to pick once the thread is up with the map (hint: I'm reusing the map for the last one, so you can check it out if you want to). From there on if they spread out/integrate with others that is entirely up to you and at that points everything is allowed haha.

Hope that answered all your questions, and once more sorry for the delay. Keep your eyes peeled on this thread, I'll be posting the link for the IC as soon as it is ready and then you can start putting all your characters into the CS section

You can go for a +1 trait, you still have 1 point to spend. I see no reason not to have Diplomatic, but either way I think that would be fine. Traits like this are definitely up for interpretation, since whether or not you persuade someone is up to you haha. But I can see "social" being something that just helps you fit into any place you visit :)

@6slyboy6 Yeah definitely, I can see it making it easy for them to fit in even amongst the most ornery of races. I foresee the Garkal and Skitter being allies as they both seem likely to party together.

About the traits, I'm mostly concerned about them not quite fitting the profile of a nomadic steppe culture (what I'm going for) because of Big (which has effects against mobility and stamina as laid out in its description), for which I thought Athleticism would be a good remedy. I mean, they aren't riding four-legged versions of themselves, and they travel around a lot, so they'd have to move on their own power. Would be silly for a race like that to always be tuckered out. If I were to opt for Athleticism + Strong instead of just Herculean, would Athleticism negate the mobility disadvantage of Big? I assume so considering the stacking effect the other traits have on each other

Thematically I think it would still work with Glass Cannon, form the viewpoint of a small or medium creature they are still amazingly strong. I like that element as well

And if you ask me, I think nomadic would be a natural pick for your race, and Athletic would work well with Herculean. I don't necessarily consider 2.5 meters "big", I meant more like the 3-4 meter tall definitely casting a shadow on others area for that. (as I have told Klom too, but still). And of course Titanic is like, everything above that haha. But yeah, I think you could run something like:

Athetic -1
Herculean -2
Rigid Bones +2, with the addittion that they can't heal *any* bones properly. Hard to break because of Herculean, but once it breaks that's it. That would make it less specific and counteract their physical prowess to a degree, and give others a chance to think about how to defeat the roaming horsemen armies

@Dark Cloud I'll leave it up to you how you word it, as long as it convey that they cna easily fit in with others haha. But if you really want I can add it to the list of other traits and you can copy and paste :D

@6slyboy6Lmao, I do imagine they'd make good mercenaries, they'd probably get much of their war material/material for making war material (and other things) by trading, at least in the early-ish days. I'm planning on maybe doing a societal split event later on, where there's a conflict between takhal who want to adhere to a traditional nomadic lifestyle and ones who want to take advantage of agriculture and sedentary civilization and stuff. How I'd do that remains to be seen.

I don't suppose there's any trait/stat penalty to their population cap or growth, but living a nomadic lifestyle and subsisting mostly on grass when you're that big will probably impose a natural limit. Thus why agriculture or trade would be so valuable. So, as long as smaller races have more numbers, it's not so one-sided

They would be valuable shock troops. Something like the skittermander could hire some to make up for their own physical inadequacies.

I'm also planning on them to have heavily bow-centric tactics. That is, when they acquire that technology. If they're much more mobile than the other races (on average, humans can probably keep up long-distance) (especially for their size), It would be like horse archery but you are the horse. In that case the bow would probably take the horse's spot as an object of reverence. Very cool to speculate
*NOT TO MENTION: More powerful arms means more powerful bow. The upper range of bows the tahkal can use would probably be the equivalent of a small ballista for humans

I think I'll take those traits, they sound perfect for what I want

@rezay I mean skittermander travel in packs so they can take on singular threats in the wilderness, I don't think they want to take part in war and probably try to broker peace when they can or just abstain all together.
