Unlike his father who was raised in the quiet and rural town of Smallville, Jonathan or Jon for short grew up in the fast and hectic lifestyle in the suburbs just outside of Metropolis.
Growing up as the hidden son of a superhero and a news reporter had it's perks but ultimately the burden of raising the child mostly went to Lois. Clark for all intents and purposes was a good family man but his obligations went beyond family and Clark felt responsible to address the various world issues that consistently showed up in a world populated with heroes, villains, mutants and manipulative government agencies. Jon was an easy child to raise at first but it became quickly evident that the young hybrid child had inherited his father's gifts. At first Lois assumed it was just random curiosity but upon careful observation Lois noticed that Jon was quickly learning about the world around him. The kyrptonian hybrid was absorbing the school material easily and despite teachers attempts to challenge him, Jon would find the answer each time. While his teachers praised Jon as a natural genius, Lois and Clark insisted that Jon should not be given any special treatment or progress towards "child prodigy" classes.

Clark who never got to fulfil his childhood dreams of playing sports due to his adoptive earth parents caution, permitted Jon to play whatever he wanted, provided he kept his grades high of course. At first the physical traits seemed ordinary but just like his proficiency in school, Jon rapidly began showcasing physical superiority among his peers. Hand eye coordination, catching, throwing, stamina... while such skills were often foreign to your regular elementary school child, Jon was developing in a manner that was raising many questions and wandering eyes.
Then the teenage years happened. Jon knew he was different and began to "hold himself back" to avoid the mistreatment of kids who would label him a freak... after all Jon's curiosity on world events led him to discover that the world was full of "strange" children like himself. It was then Jon noticed his father's random and irregular absences in his life. There was missed holidays, birthdays, school events where dad wasn't around prompting Jon to finally ask "Why?"
It was a risk, but Clark and Lois could not ignore their son's curiosity and sooner or later the truth was going to come out. "I'm Superman." Clark would eventually admit on Jon's 13th birthday. Despite the initial shock, Jon actually took it well. From that point on it felt like a burden had been lifted for it explained all the strange feelings and occurings the young teenager was experiencing and Jon felt at ease knowing that his physiology, his "strange gifts" were the result of his parents union. However the knowledge came with a warning..."You need to be careful. For your safety and your mothers. Your potential is limitless, who knows what you can become... but that means if people know, people will come for you and not all of them good."
It was a stern warning and a harsh reality but a necessary one and something Jon understood. High School went well for the most part. Jon managed to find a perfect balance as a student and athlete. Jon "limited" himself so that he was a respectable honors student but didn't "over do it" in respect for his other class mates. In terms of athletics, while Jon shined in every sport he participated in, he also made sure to limit his true capabilities to avoid unnecessary suspicion. It was only in isolation and away from prying eyes that Jon secretly pushed the boundaries of his talents and every year he grew older he continued to become stronger, faster, more alien.

It was here in Jon's senior year of high school did Jon's world change forever. Because of his talents, Jon found himself as the super star varsity quarterback with high profile division one colleges looking to recruit him to their esteemed universities. But this fame unintentionally made Jon the object of jealously from rival high schools and the taunts and social media attacks began to slowly bug the young teenager who knew he was capable of shutting up his opposition but didn't do it out of principle.
Unfortunately for another highly prized high school recruit, Jon gave in... just a bit. In a particularly heated playoff game that was filled with trash talking and personal attacks, Jon found himself in a team brawl that resulted in a permanent injury to another athlete, loss of scholarships and Jon's expulsion from school. The poor boy who had a future of endless possibilities was shattered leaving the boy devastated and uncertain in his future.
In an attempt to provide guidance in his son's life, Clark offered his son an opportunity to work along side him, to use their powers for good...to help change the world by helping those who could not help themselves. For a time life was good, Jon found purpose and enjoyment in spending time with his father as well as finding pride in the good work that he was doing. These adventures even included several collaborations with the infamous Bat family. Yet Jon was not his father and Jon's fate in the world did not match his father's.
Soon there was moral debates and disputes between father and son and while Jon had grown strong and proud he developed a more direct and violent view on life. While Clark learned to harden his feelings, Jon was more sensitive, more emotionally vulnerable and after witnessing several tragedies from various entities could no longer agree with their "soft" approach. After another emotional dispute, Jon found himself approached by a suited man who recruited him in the government organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. It was here that the man who identified himself as Agent Coulson, pitched to Jon that his father's world was different from his and that the world needed someone of his caliber to truly make a difference. After a moment of hesitation, Jon agreed.
Free from his father's supervision, Jon fully invested himself into his career as a working asset for S.H.I.E.L.D. Unlike his father who tried to live a double life as a news reporter at the Daily Planet with his wife Lois, Jon had nothing else but his new occupation. Within weeks of joining the government agency, Jon was given permission to run missions and to nobody's surprise was incredibly effective. Jon's first few operations consisted of counter terrorism and hostage rescue. Considering the circumstances, Jon no longer constrained himself in the manner of his father and conducted himself as efficient and deadly soldier who was impervious to the terrorist's conventional weaponry. Much to his father's disappointment, Jon had no qualms about eliminating the targets he was sent to deal with.
As Jon's mission accomplishments grew, so did his abilities and it wasn't long till Jon was given the all clear to engage and deal with the likes of meta humans and rogue individuals of exceptional abilities. Jon's successes made him quite popular with the media and was dubbed "New Superman", a hero that that was willing to conduct the missions that the original Superman was not. This of course grew a wedge between Jon and his parents and soon contact between parent and child became limited. While S.H.I.E.L.D found themselves an asset that can be used against other super human individuals, the public became divided. Many were supportive of a super hero who answered to the world's governments to deal with threats that conventionally weapons could not while many feared the possibility that this "New Superman" was too good at his job and the reality that if Jon were too ever turn rogue the consequences could be catastrophic...

"BLUE 80! BlUE 80!" Jon's voice projected across the field, his cadence echoing in the ears of his fellow team mates who were spread out along the green turf field. "52 is Mike!" Jon called out as he pointed at a giant of a teeanger who took several steps forward, barking commands of his own to his own team mates. Jon took a small breath, the game was close 42-48 in the 4th quarter and Central Metropolis Highschool was losing.
"52 is Mike!" Jon's commanding voice rang out again, the esteemed varsity quarterback wanted to make sure that the five teenage giants before him who were tasked with defending him understood who was the incoming blitzing linebacker that would come after the vaunted defensive line. Jon took a glance to his right, and than his left... his team mates were exhausted. The game was within reach but Jon was starting to doubt just how much longer his team mates can keep pushing. The team high schools were vicious rivals and the bright stadium lights beamed down on the 22 teenage boys who fought tooth and nail to provide entertainment for the several thousands in attendance.
"Better snap the ball Kent! clock's ticking!" Jon's attention was brought back to the opposing player who bore the number 52. The heckler of course was none other than Shane Reynolds, an absolute giant. Shane was at least 6'5 with a muscular frame that topped in the 250s. Shane was destined to play football and Shane had continued to wreck havoc all game on the Metropolis offense.
The play clock was ticking.
"Ready... go!" Jon shouted as he received the football from under his center as the quarterback took several steps back. From here everything moved in slow motion, and Jon was alone in his thoughts as he processed the slow chaos around him. Jon first looked right... no point, his receiver had barely gotten off the line, too exhausted to run his route properly. Jon then looked left and could see his receiver having a step on the opposing corner but there was another safety baiting him to make the pass. "I could fit through that window." Jon assured himself but such a throw would have required him to rifled it the air and it would have been uncatchable for his human team mate. The pocket was collapsing and Jon could feel Shane's presence rapidly approaching. With a quick step, Jon avoided an incoming defensive lineman and exploded out of the pocket racing towards the first down marker.

"20 seconds left and Central Metropolis is within striking distance of the end zone. They need a miracle to pull this one off and all eyes are on Jonathan Kent who is single handily willing his team to victory here today!"

I think he hit his head... and oh boy and here we go, the two teams are duking it out in the end zone... what a ugly ending to an otherwise great game..."
"52 is Mike!" Jon's commanding voice rang out again, the esteemed varsity quarterback wanted to make sure that the five teenage giants before him who were tasked with defending him understood who was the incoming blitzing linebacker that would come after the vaunted defensive line.
