Hades' Cabin | Camp-Halfblood
Interactions: Anzu @Pyxis, Tyler, Brandon @Moro, Erin @Vicier

There was no hesitation, no look back, no other gesture towards him when Anzu turned around and left him standing there with her sword pressed against his chest. It wasn't until the pink of her hair had disappeared behind some buildings that he heard Anzu's name being called over the PA system.

If she was needed in the Big House by Mr. D, it meant that she would be busy for the next few days- hopefully.

Carlos took a deep breath before arching his back, cracking his back, and began to head for Erin's cabin. The walk there was short, his feet carrying him quickly towards the dark building where the accused daughter of Hades was probably waiting for everyone. He wondered how they would be leaving the camp. The skies and sea were dangerous for demigods.

Probably shadow travel.

Carlos hated shadow traveling. It didn't feel right. Once Valeria took him across the Mess Hall, and it felt like he had been traveling for hours. He didn't know it felt like that, but after that experience, he had always tried to avoid that as much as he could. It was like his luck, the blessing from his mother, had left him for those brief seconds. It felt like the fates were finally catching up to him.

It was going to suck.

Carlos knocked on the front door before sliding into the building, the Japanese sword now strapped to his belt. The added weight of it gave him a small comfort as he stepped inside, eyes resting on the trio already thereβ€”Erin and Tyler, together with Brandon standing a few ways off.

"At least I'm not the last one here," Carlos walked in, almost tugging his shoes off- a small custom he had picked up from Anzu. "So, I assume we'll be leaving as soon as everyone gets here?."

He walked further in, removing the backpack from his bag but leaving the sword tied to his belt. His eyes darted from Brandon and Tyler, knowing well enough that both of them had some trouble getting along; hopefully, he'd help Erin keep the peace between the two while out on their little life-threatening adventure.

"Now, now, no fighting. Save it for the scary monsters out there."

Big House | Camp-Halfblood
Everyone in the Big House

The Fates really wanted to fuck with Kyrin didn't they?

The son of Aphrodite stood by the back of the room, listening to every word that Mr. D threw their way. He could feel the pit of his stomach sink when he heard Elias's name when the leader was named. Great, great! At least the German boy wasn't here to give him one of his cheeky smiles or a stupid wink that made Kyrin's heart skip a beat and his cheeks blush. Just thinking about that stupid blond made Kyrin want to hit that pretty face.

Great, another Aphrodite daughter. Imani and Ariana would probably love this one too. That name though, he had heard it before and if he had heard it before so would have the monsters that liked to hunt them. And eat them for dinner.

He glanced at the other leader of the group, Grayson. At least it seemed like Dionysus had a talent at picking the team leaders. Looked like the indifference the god liked to put off wasn't as real as he'd want/ Both of the leads seemed capable and responsible, something that Kyrin was nowhere close to being.

And then the leader changed. Kyrin glanced over to Anzu, all he could see was the back of her pink-colored hair. She was one of his closest friends at cap besides Erin. He was glad that she was going along with them and she'd be the new leader. At least he'd be able to actually do something and freeze up. Besides, Elias wouldn't be able to lead correctly without the ability to speak.

Kyrin was in no way going to give him back their imaginary key any time soon.

My gods, what was with all of these retrieval missions today? He knew it was the beginning of summer, but three somewhat claimed demigods in a single day was pretty unheard of. Dorian was conflicted about his assignment. He was tasked with retrieving a daughter of Aphrodite and to put it bluntly she wasn't his favorite goddess at the moment. But he held no qualms against her children. It was just the terrible timing and selection of it all. If he hadn't known Mr. D any better he would've thought he had an ulterior motive behind his placement. But Mr. D hated his job enough, he wasn't interested in the affairs of the campers. But putting aside his current feelings for the goddess of love, Dorian was actually a fan of Anastasia. She was so talented and well beautiful. Her being Aphrodite's daughter made a non-surprisingly amount of sense. He was worried though. They always say never meet your idols. He just hoped she was as nice as she seemed and wasn't just acting all the time.

He had no other issues with his assignment and liked the group he was partnered with and with Anzu in charge they really had nothing to worry about. This mission would be a walk in the park, probably even literally. But he tried not to think too much on that as he didn't want to risk anything. Being demigods on a quest meant they were always in constant danger. In the past a lot of demigods didn't make it to the border. It's probably why they started sending rescue parties instead of just a Satyr.

"So is that everything, Mr. D? No more surprise claimings or things we should know?

Silence…

It was either, neither of the boys agreed with her little ultimatum, or they both knew she was right and just didn’t want to admit it out loud, especially in one another's company. She was leaning more towards the latter being the answer. And really, it wasn’t the first time. Four years of being in each others lives, they’d been in this position a handful of times. And each time, for some Gods forsaken reason, she’d been the voice to keep the peace. Her. Daughter of the devil.

It was rather laughable concept.

Holding herself back from lifting his hands to her lips once she was finished; Erin instead gave Tyler the smallest of smiles. Her hands gently squeezing his for reassurance before she was letting them go. Her heeled boots making soft thuds over the polished wood as she made her way into the kitchen so that she could throw the wrapper and used wipe away; though the sound of her cabin door opening not once, but twice caught her attention. Causing her to turn her head towards the familiar figures that were coming in to join the small group that was already gathered in the lounge room.

"I am here. Now, who's ready to go bird watching?"

She wasn’t even going to dignify that with an answer; instead, she merely rolled her eyes and once more turned her back to the group. Taking a look around the kitchen. Why, she wasn’t quite sure, but her eyes darted to the clock on the barely used microwave. Checking the time before moving to the fridge and removing five bottles of water. Five. Because that was all that was there. All that had bothered to show up- not including Ezra, of course.

"So, I assume we'll be leaving as soon as everyone gets here? Now, now, no fighting. Save it for the scary monsters out there."

Great… she didn’t particularly even want to think about what they’d be facing outside the camp's barrier. Forcibly shoving those particular thoughts from her mind as she turned back to the group, Erin shook her head. Her hips swinging in time with each step that she took as she returned to the group, and not a moment later, she was passing a fresh, cold bottle of water to each of them - Brandon, Carlos, Zeru, and Tyler.

β€œNo. We’re leaving now.” She knew how that sounded. It was going to come across as cold… cruel even; but the truth was, she didn’t exactly have time to waste sitting around waiting for people to show. Even with her fear being kept in check - Ezra was a Godsend… literally - there was still that ball of anxiousness rolling about in the very pit of her stomach, though it had nothing to do with leaving the camp anymore. Just everything to do with returning to it. Getting the damn quest over and done with as quickly as possible.

Right now, that was all she cared about.

β€œLook, Spencer said it himself- the sooner we leave, the better. And ironically, he’s the one person who isn’t here.” They’d had a plan- a semi plan. Spence had a place outside of Italy that they could travel to and start out from once they were ready to do so. Well, that plan was now out the window. Well and truly. She had to think on the fly instead, β€œI can’t wait for him to show up; not when it’s my life on the line. If he wants to play catch up, then he can. I don’t care. And yeah, I know the… creepy bitch in the attic said six; but we’re just going to have to deal with five. So… brace yourselves. Whatever the fuck you have to do, but… we’re heading through the shadows. Now.”

Pursing her lips slightly; Erin’s dark gaze moved from one figure to the next. Trying for a moment to gage what each of the boys were thinking before she allowed her gaze to fall instead to her things. Her body stooping down, she slipped her bottle into one of the side pockets of her bag before hoisting it up and over her shoulder. Securing it and her staff in place over her back before she made her way over to the corner of the room where the shadows seemed their darkest.

If she was being honest, she loved shadow travel- it was just part of who she was. It came naturally; like breathing. But it was also a double edged sword. It could harm her as much as it could help her- not… that she ever let on to others about that particular little downfall. It just wasn’t a topic she discussed much.

Staring into the darkness for a few moments; she pondered. There were a few places she knew in Italy- hell, it was where her and Dany’s family were. It was their homeland. She knew it as well as she knew Los Angeles; not that she ever wanted to go back there anytime soon despite the fact that that was where her mother and majority of her friends were. Argh, what was she doing..? Shoving the thoughts out of her head; Erin took a moment to reconcentrate, and as her eyes blackened in color, the shadows in front of her seemed to rip open. Growing bigger, twisting; and soon enough, before them stood an open door into complete darkness.

Lips parting slightly as she stared up at it, she turned just enough to give the group her profile. Her head turning further, and her black eyes staring over at the group of people she trusted.

β€œ..which one of you is first..? I can’t hold it open forever…”

"..the rest of you- the assignment has changed. The situation in India is being handled... apparently. How my daft brother plans on doing so is beyond me, but I digress. Mr. Davies, you are still in charge. There is a daughter of Athena that needs to be collected and escorted to camp; goes by the name Malia Brae. According to the information handed to me by my idiot brother, you'll be able to find her at a place called Braeside Ranch. But while you will no longer be going to India- you will, however, be taking a nice, long trip to Australia instead. You will be taking Miss Tatiana Hernandez with you in place of Mr. Blacklight."

Though Grey had much love and respect for his cousin Levina, the fact that she wasn't here and they needed to leave as soon as possible was going to force his hand. Surely he could try and go locate her himself, but it would be much easier to just bring someone else along. His first thought in a replacement, having heard it was a daughter of Athena was of course Brynn. The mention of Australia though quickly scratched Brynn off the list and brought another to mind. Ky'vie. Not only would it be beneficial for them to bring someone who knew the country better than he did, but it would be an opportunity for his best friend to visit back home. Knowing that the git Ky had her sights on would be going on the quest with Erin, Ky'd be beside herself with worry. A nice distraction would be in order. What better than a simple retrieval quest in her own country..?

With all these thoughts crossing his mind, he still carefully listened and made sure Mr. D was done speaking before he decided to speak up himself. Clearing his throat, he unfolded his arms and slid his hands into the back pockets of his pants.

"Sir, I couldn't help but notice you only suggested one replacement, though the group going with me needs two. I'd personally like to make a suggestion. Ky'vie Morgan. She and her brother are from Australia. I've been through on tours a few times, but I wouldn't know my way around as much as she would. I think it would be very beneficial for her to tag along with us," Greyson half-bows his head at Mr. D, looking back up at him. "With your approval, of course, sir."

Michael wasn’t too sure what to make of the sudden changes to the groups, and the missions. Just what was going on? Was this all an attempt to keep them confused? Or was it simply just a coincidence? Michael wasn’t sure if there was any such thing as a coincidence- everything could be connected and often was. What was the likelihood? For a brief moment he considered doing the mathematics, but decided there was too many variables for him to do so here. So he merely waited, instead he turned his attention towards just where they were going. Braeside Ranch. He had to wonder just where it was- there were a few Braeside’s in Australia and evn one in New Zealand that he was aware of, and he sighed softly.

There really wasn’t much point to thinking things through if there wasn’t concise information. Well, Michael would just have to focus on what he could control, and that was himself. Sometimes Moe. He paused as Greyson spoke up, frowning slightly. Two? Who else was not coming along? Glancing around, he recalled that Levina had been named. So were they going to replace Levina, or would she show up? It wasn’t his place to say- it was all up to Dionysus and Michael could almost say with confidence what the answer would be. Dionysus would chose whatever was easiest for himself, and hunting down a missing camper would just be time consuming for the God.

Either way, it wasn’t something Michael could control. It had been a while since he’d gone on any sort of quest, and a part of him wondered why so many were going on a search and rescue, but in the end, it just meant he wouldn’t have to talk too much. He could leave that for the others, and instead focus on what he could do without making a fool of himself. And that was plan, and react fast. Shoving his hands in his pockets, Michael wasn’t surprised to feel various objects- pencil, dice, pen, a rock or two, dog treats… He often forgot they were there, until his hands brushed them.

β€œW-what a f-fucked up d-day” He muttered to himself, idly pulling out a small cube and moving it around his fingers.

it’s okay…

The voice, perhaps his own inner voice, seemed faint against Talon’s anger, seemed to almost be a whisper against the tormount of his emotions, his hate filled thoughts and delusions. Talon wanted to turn away from it all, but the draw to that voice didn’t seem strong enough. He gritted his teeth, his hands once more curling into fists as he struggled against the anger. Always struggling against the anger, the hate, the distress and violence. He didn’t want to be angry all the time- and a sudden rise of hatred exploded towards his father- towards Ares, towards the fucking slime ball he had been forced to be raised by. And against the mother that should have protected him, that should have made sure he was safe. No one had ever protected him, and his early years, the majority of his life, had been spent being punished for one misdemeanor or another.

Terrified and abandoned by the people who should never have scared him, never have left him. He’d left them, left them because if he hadn’t, he doubted he be here today. Which wasn’t exactly saying anything. Talon turned, burying his face into the pillow, as if a childish attempt at hiding could comfort him.

it will be okay… just breathe.

Talon closed his eyes tight, the voice that seemed to be his seeming to break a small path through the anger and the hatred- and the fear underneath it. He wasn’t angry at Octavia- he knew that, but he couldn’t help but feel angry to her, as well. She’d turned away, when he’d been trying… He knew that he was being unreasonable, but for a few brief moments, he didn’t care. Talon dug his fingers into already tender palms, not caring if he got blood on his bed. Wouldn’t be the last time.

He drew in a deep breath, and held it for a few seconds before letting it back out. He didn’t want to be angry, but he couldn’t seem to fight it, he never could fight the anger. It was more apart of him than anything else, and Talon didn’t know how to fight it. It had been the only thing keeping him going, for so long. Again… . As if prompted, Talon drew in another deep breath, holding it for a few seconds. Talon’s hands uncurled slightly, and he buried his face in his pillow deeper, letting the breath out- inadvertently warming his pillow for a few breath seconds. He tried to get ahold of his thoughts, tried to rein in his anger, yet as always it seemed to constantly be just out of his reach.

Failure.

That’s all he ever was, was a failure. He couldn’t even run away properly, both times he’d been caught- by the fucker that had masqueraded as his father, and by the camp itself. He knew that his life was better- it couldn’t have been much worse- than it had been… but the words, the beatings, the utter hate still flooded over him… failure… not a man… hopeless… worthless. Now, come on, you know that’s not true. Talon gritted his teeth once more, and drew in a third deep breath, letting it out slowly.

He sighed heavily, sitting up on the edge of his bed and running a slightly bloodied hand through his hair, not caring. He took a few seconds before he stood and started towards the window- no point running into any of his other siblings- before opening it. He glanced towards the ground, before he swung himself over the window seal and to the ground, crouching to negate the shock of the landing. He wasn’t too sure what he was feeling, or even where he was going, but he just knew he couldn’t be in the cabin any more. He couldn’t be confined any longer, even if it was just his room.

He had known a room that felt like a prison… and didn’t want to ever feel like a room was one again. He started to walk, shoving his bloodied palms into his pockets and sighing again. He tried to keep a rein on his emotions, a part of him still thinking that it was a hopeless task. As he reached a tree, Talon took another deep breath, leaning against it and sliding down, dropping his head into his hands.

Making his way back to the surface, Pierre let his thoughts wander, almost intentionally but the truth was it was easier to just let his mind process things how it wanted to. While there seemed to be quite a few options for what Corona wanted, Pierre still wasn’t certain it would be something that could function without a lot of work. Shifting slightly as he waited for the lift to rise up the numerous levels, Pierre almost couldn’t stand the waiting. Tapping his fingers against the side of his leg, Pierre frowned when the doors opened and Dioynsus’s voice was echoing over the grounds.

Two quests? Just what had he missed underground? He shifted, starting out of the elevator and towards the cabins, deciding it would be best to check up on Adeline. He was sure she was alright, knew that she was more than capable, but he also knew that he would never quite be able to stop himself from checking on her every so often. And he would also need to make sure that Prince wasn’t getting in trouble, either.

What could there possibly be a need for two more quests, after the debacle that was this morning's festivities. Had Erin received her quest information, or was she still getting it? Had she even gone to see the Oracle? A part of Pierre wondered what would happen if she didn’t. Would the gods attack her here in the camp, a place that was meant to be safe for them? Shaking his head as if to clear his thoughts, Pierre glanced ahead of him. What a crazy fucking day. A part of him was wondering if this was some crazy dream- was his abilities going hay wire?

He had won the tower- by taking the chance while everyone else was distracted. The Gods were trying to blame the most reclusive member of the camp for stealing from one of them, and now two quests. Seemed nightmare material, really. He almost reached across to pinch his arm as if to see if he was awake, before sighing. Would those quests take care of most of their numbers? Was this a part of the gods' schemes? He was trying to make sense of things, when there really was no making sense, at least with the very limited answers they had at their disposal.

They would just have to have hope and faith that things would work out, but Pierre couldn’t help but feel a shadow of foreboding. So, for a while, all he could do would be to ensure he did his part to make the camp safe. As he neared the Morpheus cabin, he slowed, β€œAdeline?”

He… was running late.

Either Hayden had forgotten that they were supposed to be having lunch together, or, like in the past, he’d gotten so lost in his work that he wasn’t keeping track of time. Lost in the intense heat radiating from the flames of the forge. The mere thought had her shifting uncomfortably on her bed. She was still getting used to that- the heat. Even after having been together for years- well… on and off anyway.

A sigh passing through her lips; Issie fell back against the pillows. Her legs stretching out in front of her, and it was only a few seconds later that she was pulling her phone up in front of her. Scrolling listlessly through the TikTok videos that came across her page. That was, of course, until the sound of a familiar voice filling the air hit her ears, causing her to turn her head towards the source. Her bright blues flicking towards the figure standing in the doorway, β€œYou know… you move slower than the ice age. What took you so long, Frost..?”

Astrid almost frowned that she actually didn’t get now wave of applause from her sister. β€œWhat can I say? I’m a gal who loves her camp.” Which was a lie, but Astrid had the charisma and confidence to convince herself that was the truth. β€œBut if you want me to come back, I can go for round two around the camp.” Astrid half turned in her feigning attempt to guilt her sister just a tad.

β€œ..do you have to be so dramatic..?”

A heavy sigh passing out through her lips; Isaura both locked and lowered her phone down to rest on the bed beside her. Hands pressing down into the mattress as she pushed herself up and into a sitting position; her legs crossing underneath her as she made herself comfortable, β€œ..we have enough of that going on around the camp this summer; please don’t add any more…”

Astrid smiled, though there was a part of her that felt guilty. And a moment later that part lost to all the other moving gears in Astrid’s head. β€œYou don’t say.” As she walked closer to her sister’s bed, Astrid pulled a chair that was nearby and dragged it with her and took a seat in it. β€œWho knew stealing a dove would cause such a commotion.” The Daughter of Khione laughed as she crossed her legs on Isaura’s bed and looked down at her hands.

A commotion… that was one way to put it. Exaggerated… ham… overemotional- there were a plethora of words that could be used to describe the situation. All of them perfect for when talking about the Gods; particularly when it came to the Greek Gods.

”..for what it’s worth, I don’t believe that she did it.” Shaking her head lightly, Issie once more allowed her back to rest against the pillows behind her. Her bright blues flicking across to rest on her sister, ”..not that it matters much...”

Astrid shrugged, giving the impression she didn’t care one way or another. Erin wasn’t her favorite person and under normal circumstances, she might’ve rooted her to fail. Nothing would bring a smile to the frigid bitch’s face to see the Princess of the Underworld be taken down a peg, but on her worst day, Astrid wouldn’t want to see her dead. And she knew if Erin did fail, that would be a very likely outcome. β€œSo, do you think she’ll do it?”

”..I think she’ll do everything in her power to...”

It was a diplomatic answer; she knew that. But really, Issie couldn’t say definitively one way or the other as to if Erin and her posse would be able to succeed or fail. She didn’t have all the facts, and they never would. The only ones that would be able to say for sure were the ones that Erin had handpicked out of the rest of the camp to go with her, ”..but, that being said, I wouldn’t underestimate her and the others. We’ll just… have to wait and see what happens...”

A sound left Astrid’s lips, seemingly confirming that she agreed with her sister. β€œAnd if she fails, then I guess we’ll have some angry Gods to deal with.” The thought of throwing hands with a few of the Greek Pantheon appealed to the part of Astrid that had Vidar’s spirit flowing through her, but even that cranky bastard could grant her so much. Against full-fledged gods, even as a collective, did they really stand a chance? β€œLeave it to those Children of Hades to make life around here exciting!” Astrid laughed with both a genuine thrill that carried her into a grin but a subtle worry creeping its way to the surface.

”..even if we had to stand against the Gods, it’s not like it’s impossible. It has been done before. Demigods have managed to take down Gods on multiple occasions.” Pausing a moment, Issie lifted her hand. Gently using the tips of her fingers to brush some stray strands of her long white hair back and behind her ear so it was out of the way, ”Percy took down Ares… Jason and others stood against the Gods as well. Annabeth and Luke both worked together to take down a Titan. Hell- even Hayden’s half-brother, Leo, took down our own mother. She didn’t win that fight. It can be done; it’s just… difficult.”

Astrid didn't intend to look up at her sister out of her stubborn pride or whatever, but when their mother was mentioned, along with a brief history of some of the greatest warriors of Camp Half-Blood -- warriors that Astrid secretly admired for their strength -- she couldn't help but feel a certain inadequacy in comparison. To them, she barely accomplished anything.

And as much as she wanted to hate on the Princess of the Underworld, she was given a chance (albeit life or death one) to prove herself. "That's a lot of praise for Miss Gloom and Doom," Astrid remarked, filling the silence she let form. "But I understand what you're trying to say. And as much as I might not like her, I wouldn't want her to die at the hands of any God if she fails." Astrid said, almost feeling a melancholic relief as she spoke. "At least not until I had a chance to test my strength against her." She chuckled at her comment and the satisfying thought of defeating Erin in combat.

”..if that’s the case, then all we can do is simply support her. At least as best as we can from here in camp.” Chuckling softly, Issie gave a light shake of her head, ”You know as well as I do that we can’t interfere any further than that..”

Astrid strongly disagreed with her sister's point but not enough to argue it, so she shrugged and nodded absentmindedly. "Anyway, enough about all this potential end of the world BS - where is lover boy?" Astrid asked her sister, acknowledging the elephant in the room that was almost as big as Hayden himself. It was clear by the tone of her voice that she still wasn't happy that they were back together.

”..in the forge.”

And just like that, the civility of the conversation they’d been having was gone. Replaced instead by the animosity of the argument that had taken place between them the night before; and it was thick enough that she could slice right through it with her axe. Really, this was not the topic that she wanted to be revisiting, ”He has work to get done. We’re planning on meeting up later for a bite to eat.”

..that was if he didn’t forget… Though Issie didn’t mention that out loud; instead keeping a straight, non-phased expression on her face.

Astrid didn’t want to ask about Hayden, especially given the way she and her sister left things earlier about him, but she couldn’t hide her displeasure when she was told they were back together. Astrid’s form of overprotection of her sister could be called tyrannical at times, but to her it was just making sure no harm came to her. And sometimes that meant saying things that she wouldn’t agree with.

And that’s why the two had a somewhat tense conversation before they came back to camp. Now, Astrid had to control what she said. β€œSo he’s working instead of being with you?” Astrid chuckled and stood up. β€œHow long has he left you by yourself?”

”He has a job to do, you know that…” Great… it was starting again. Unable to stop herself from sighing, even softly, Isaura stared at her sister. A light frown crossing her features, ”..he was here last night- he stayed over. And we spoke after the meeting earlier. He’s the best blacksmith in camp, Astrid. I understand that, and I support his work. Even if that means we work our lives around it.”

β€œI… see.” She almost visibly cringed when Isaura said that he stayed over. It wasn't that she had a problem with Hayden, but Astrid couldn’t help but be anti-him; it was a natural reaction she had. β€œIt doesn’t matter if he’s the President of the United States, he should at least tell you when he’s going to be back!” Astrid huffed in her usual β€˜I’m about to do/ say something regretful’ kind of way.

”Astrid… don’t start.” Giving clear enough warning by both her words, and the tone of voice she was using; Isaura narrowed her eyes slightly towards her twin sister.

β€œDon’t start what?”

”You know what.”

Astrid smirked almost as if she was taunting her sister. β€œI know you know we’re--I’m--amazingly gifted, but I’m not a mind reader.” Even though she knew exactly what Isaura meant, Astrid played dumb. β€œSo why don’t you enlighten me, sister?” She asked, leaning her back against the wall behind her.

Twisting on her bed, it was all too soon that Isaura’s feet had hit the ground, and she stood in front of her twin with her arms folded, and an expression that clearly read: unamused. Seriously..? She was playing the dumb card..? Please, the girl was anything but…

”Don’t act coy- it’s not cute.” Unable to stop herself from rolling her eyes, or heaving out a sigh; Issie’s arms broke from across her chest. Sliding around until she was able to instead slip them down into the back pockets of her jeans, ”I know you don’t think much of him, but I love Hayden, okay..? I love him… so stop giving him crap, and just stay out of my relationship, Astrid. I’m happy. Is that such a bad thing..?”

Her arms were folded across one another over her chest and Astrid absentmindedly tapped her left fingers on her right inner-forearm as Isaura gave her a not-so-subtle warning. β€œOf course it’s not a bad thing,” she somewhat confirmed with a small shrug. β€œYou know that’s the only thing I want. I just wish you’d choose someone who wasn’t so…” She thought about what word she wanted to use that might describe Hayden accurately. He wasn’t exactly dumb despite looking like a caveman. β€œI just don’t understand what you see in him.” Aside from his muscles and hair, yeah Astrid couldn’t fathom what her sister was attracted to. And no that wasn’t her being attracted to Hayden. Astrid could objectively see what some might find an appeal in with that Son of Hephaestus.

”..that’s the thing...” Biting down on her lower lip- chewing on it for a moment or two as her thoughts turned to her man and all the things about him that just made her fall in love over and over again, Issie shook her head lightly.

”..you never will...”

The air in her sister’s room had suddenly turned almost as chilly as the very powers they commanded. The tension they always seemed to have (mostly on Astrid’s end) when it came to Hayden was something that naturally drove a wedge between them from time to time, but right now, it definitely seemed like history repeating itself.

Astrid narrowed her eyes on her sister, offering very few words; a simple β€œyeah” left her lips before she left, heading for her room. Or somewhere that wasn’t here.

Anzu had been one of the first to arrive. Slowly, the office was filled with the familiar faces of those who had been called. There was some back and forth, questions, and a few demands before Dionysus finally explained why they were all called. A quest of sorts.

A search and rescue, more like it.

Anzu had done a few of those in the past, with smaller parties led by her. Carlos had always been her second, followed by whoever volunteered or was in need of fresh air from the camp. So when she heard that the party would be more than just three people, she couldn't help but scoff. Did Dionysus want to send off as many campers as he could outside the borders just to minimize his worry in camp? Anzu wouldn't blame the old god; these kids were wild. Some more than others.

Either way, she was happy that she had been assigned team leader after Elias. There was no use in having two leaders; they would have butt heads as much as she cared for the Ares boy. Both of them had similar tempers, and if an argument ensued, the whole team would be put in jeopardy.

Besides, Pierre would be an excellent addition to the group.

Anzu looked over her shoulder, eyeing everyone that would be under her command for the next day or so. Her eyes lingered on Kyrin before moving on to Dorian and the rest of her team. Taking no time in asserting herself as the leader, Anzu gave Dorian a small nod letting him know she would like to him after this thing was over.

She had to take into consideration everyone's abilities and capabilities. Lockwood was experienced; he knew his way outside of the camp and what dangers waited for them. He would make up for Kyrin's lack of experience, but the Aphrodite boy had his own strengths as well. While Kyrin was reckless and impulsive, he was an unpredictable fighter that could hold his own against a monster. Dorian was a capable fighter, but his most useful asset was his ability to shadow travel. Pierre? He had just won the obstacle tower.

That said enough.

Anzu had a solid team. This search and rescue would be quick. She'd be able to get back just before Carlos would.

Anzu shifted her weight to her other leg. "Atlanta. I doubt it would be hard to track down that girl. " They just had to do it before anything else did.

Cyrus missed all of the fun happening at camp this morning, but he was out having a little fun of his own. You see, Cyrus was a full time camper, but as a full time camper he knew how to sneak in and out of camp without setting off any boundary alarms. It wasn't like he needed to. Chiron and Mr. D were well aware of his hero escapades at this point. They decided it wasn't worth the hassle of getting involved as long as he kept his identity a secret and no one ever followed him back to camp, including monsters. They knew he wouldn't or rather couldn't get himself killed in the process. It was almost as if he really was the character he chose to emulate. Or him believing so would be his undoing.

But today wasn't that day, or to be more accurate last night wasn't the night. Cyrus was out all night patrolling New York knowing that the city often became more dangerous in the dark. Not only did it have criminals roaming the streets, but it also had monsters and homeless people without the necessary resources to survive out there. Tonight was a slow night on the criminal and monster front, but he express delivered some meals, provided some heat and made sure they weren't messed with. He felt good and was going to call it a night when the scent of smoke drifted through the wind to reach his nose. There was a fire nearby and it wasn't one that he had made. It looked like this was a job for none other than the spectacular Flannel Man. He flew off in the direction of the fire and used the cover of the fire to hide his identity as he went inside. He thought about getting some kind of costume, because running into a fiery apartment building when you could have put the fire out first probably wasn't the best idea. Every time he reached a floor he would inhale deeply with his lungs to pull the smoke from the apartments out towards him. He had a lot of people to rescue and having them suffer from smoke inhalation wasn't part of his plan.

Once a floor was cleared of smoke he'd do his rescue thing. This went on until he reached the top floor and was sure that everyone was outside and safe. Now he just had to blow away the flames without getting caught in the process. He hovered above the neighboring building and inhaled and inhaled until he couldn't anymore before releasing a wave of chilly wind to encompass the building, dousing the flames and chilling the area in the process. Before they could check to see where this super gust of wind had come from their flanneled savior was gone and making his way home.

-------------------------

Cyrus arrived back at camp making sure to land in the forest instead of out in the open. It felt strangely quiet. He was sure there was a lot that was supposed to be going on today. Were they already done with the Obstacle Tower? He wondered who had one. Was it Ky'vie again or had someone pulled a victorious upset from right under her nose? If anyone could provide answers it would be his dear friend Octavia and he knew exactly where to find her. If she wasn't in one place it was another and something told him to check there first.

Cyrus walked through the clearing and saw Octavia right at the end of it sitting underneath her favorite tree in camp. He didn't know what it was about this specific tree that drew her to it, but he was glad that she could find some place that felt her own since she was away from the home she really knew. As he got closer he yelled out, "Well, if it isn't my favorite Roman under her favorite tree." If she looked up she would see him wearing a pair of timberlands, boot cut jeans, a red flannel with a blue shirt underneath all covered in soot and ash as if he had been auditioning for a role as a Chimney Sweep.

Head resting against the cool pane of the window; it was hard not to enjoy the refreshing breeze that lightly flowed past her. Bringing with it the rather enticing aroma that came from the wild rosemary growing freely outside of their cabin. It was intoxicating. Relaxing. The exotic scent of florals, pine, wood, eucalyptus, and clove all mashed together in perfect harmony. It was no wonder their ancestors in Ancient Greece used it heavily in their every day lives.

"Adeline?"

Her brother's familiar voice floating towards her through the cabin; Adeline turned her head towards the sound. Her bright blues searching the general area in an attempt to locate him, though they both knew that it was never going to happen. She was never going to be able to look him in the eyes... or anyone else for that matter, "..I'm here..."

A gentle weight pressing suddenly over her lap, catching her off guard, Addie's head drew back around with a light snap. Relief washing through her as she felt the familiar warmth seeping into her being from silky fur coat made of the most romantic of browns, and kissed so strawberry-cream that it almost matched the orangey red tones of her own hair. Ce-Jay. Where the rascley little fox had gotten to that morning, she couldn't tell, but... he always seemed to be around at just the right times. Always there when she needed him; even if she wasn't exactly aware of it herself.

The smallest of smiles tugging at the corners of her lips; she ran her fingers through his fur. The corners of her eyes crinkling and her smile brightening ever slightly as she felt the rough dampness of his tongue brushing against her arm, Adeline reached forward, pulling him just that little bit closer. Her hand sliding up the length of his back, all the way to the top of his head where she lightly scratched. Illiciting a few soft yips from the animal, "..Greyson and Michael are both going away for a while... Mr. D called them to the Big House..."

Hand rising up from where it had been resting in her lap; Octavia held it idle just slightly above her line of vision. Her bright greens lingering on the light from the sun as it danced back and forth over across her olive colored skin. It was just so peaceful here... sitting on the edge of the forest, and if she was being completely honest with herself, it was one of the few places she could go where she could actually take a moment to just... think. Lowering her arm back down, her hand once more returning to its place over her lap, she instead let her gaze draw up to the canopy. The tree was old, one of the biggest in camp aside from the great Thalia's tree itself, and it's branches seemed to extend out, reaching towards the sky. It was no wonder that it was where she went when she felt as though she needed to recharge... when everything around her just started to feel far too overwhelming...

Movement catching in the corner of her eye; it was only a few moments later that she was turning her head towards the source. The sight of probably her best friend in the camp causing her to raise a brow, though she'd long gotten used to the deshevelled looks. Cyrus was always rushing off to play the hero... and she was sure that a day was going to come when it would be his undoing. Even she knew that there was a distinct difference between a hero, and a fictional superhero. But then, there wasn't exactly a point to revisiting that conversation. She'd voiced her concerns so often enough that it would just make her sound like a broken record; playing on repeat. The grey and black tones of the ash and soot covering his familiar figure, however, now that was a new look for him.

"Well, if it isn't my favourite Greek boy, doing his best impersonation of the Aphrodite girl's cooking."

Dropping her head back, Octavia let it rest against the trunk of the tree. Watching him draw closer, and waiting until he had before she gave a light shrug of her shoulders and a look that clearly said that she wasn't about to even so much as ask. His business was his business, and besides, she was pretty damn sure that he'd tell her the story by the time the day was done, "You're late. And you missed a lot..."

Her hand lifting; she took a moment to run her fingers back through her long dark locks. Pushing them back and off her face, though there really wasn't exactly a point to the action. The moment she returned her hand to her lap, her waves fell back into place. Once again framing her features, "Cyrus, I need... advice... I don't know how to talk to my brother..."

The headache was becomming more prominant... Where the fuck was Chiron with the asprin when he needed it..? Seriously.

His hand lifting up, Dionysus pinched at the bridge of his nose. His brows furrowing as the dull, pain he felt pulsed against his forehead. Now was one of those distinct times he felt true contempt towards his father and the punishment that had been handed down to him. In times past, he wouldn't have to worry about these types of things, but now..? How cruel could a father be by taking away his childs tried and true coping mechanisms..? He just had to keep reminding himself that by the time his infernal damnation in the mortal realm was over, the sweet nector that were the alcohols he'd collected would have aged beautifully.

But until then...

"Sir, I couldn't help but notice you only suggested one replacement, though the group going with me needs two. I'd personally like to make a suggestion. Ky'vie Morgan."

Ky' vie Morgan..?

Lowering his hand back down, he let his dark gaze turn on the one who was speaking. His half-mortal cousin, for lack of better descriptions. The fact that he was surrounded by a handful of them-... He shoved the thought from his mind. Instead motioning for the child to continue talking- letting him know that, despite how he was currently coming across, he was, in fact, listening to what was being said.

"She and her brother are from Australia. I've been through on tours a few times, but I wouldn't know my way around as much as she would. I think it would be very beneficial for her to tag along with us. With your approval, of course, sir."

"..yes, yes. That's fine. Take her." He had to admit, the kid did at least have a point to what he was saying. Dionysus let a heavy sigh fall from his lips. The fact that he was actively beginning to care enough to involve himself even slightly in the affairs of his campers-... He really needed a vacation. Thank fuck he was an immortal, because he was pretty damn sure that these kids were going to be the death of him otherwise.

β€œW-what a f-fucked up d-day.”

"..I'm inclined to agree with you, Mr. Stevenson..."

"Atlanta. I doubt it would be hard to track down that girl."

That one... he had no answer for. He couldn't say. Had he even been to Atlanta..? He couldn't remember, but he was pretty sure that at least one of these brats had to have gone there at some point in their lives. Eh, who cared anyway. They'd figure it out, and if not, what was a rescue party for the rescue party..? It's not like that hadn't happened before.

"So is that everything, Mr. D? No more surprise claimings or things we should know?"

"Hm..?" Pulled from his thoughts, Dionysus let his attention be drawn to the child who was now addressing him. Simply staring at the kid for a moment or two before understanding seemed to dawn and he gave a nod. His hand lifting to wave the group off dissmissively, "Yes, yes. Go. Get out of here already before I turn you all into minnows. You've wasted enough of my time, you brats."

Relieved to hear his sisters voice, Pierre relaxed slightly as he made his way into the cabin, crouching slightly as Prince trotted up happily, the small puppy-sized dog wagging his tail enthusiastically as Pierre patted him for a moment or two, flicking a glance at the food and water bowls to make sure they weren’t empty. He’d have to check if they needed supplies for the animals, and made a mental note to do that later. Shifting, he looked towards Adeline, not surprised to see Ce-Jay with her. The fox always seemed to be near, even when you could have sworn it wasn’t mere seconds before.

Well, he supposed that meant the fox wasn’t getting into too much trouble. β€œI heard, not a quiet one, Mr D.” He said lightly, β€œsometimes I’m surprised that the outside world doesn’t hear him.” He set his things down, flexing his fingers lightly, knowing he ought to make sure he hadn’t hurt himself on the tower, but finding himself instead sitting- and letting himself relax. It wasn’t like he was going out on any quests or jobs.
β€œWonder whats going on, why is there more quests happening after earlier? Seems really strange.” he mused, before sighing. β€œWell, I suppose we won’t know the answers.” Shaking his head, Pierre ran his fingers through his hair a little wearily. β€œWell, I guess we’ll just have to keep things interesting in camp.”

Michael didn’t think he’d spoken loud enough for anyone to hear, and he ducked his head slightly in embarrassment, first his outburst this morning at the tower, now this… He shouldn’t let his emotions get the better of him, not if he was to keep his wits about him. Particularly on a quest. Which, despite the unlikeliness of it, he was going on. What was worse was that Mr D had, in fact, got his name right. Which was, rarely, a good thing. It didn’t seem like he had displeased the God, but you could never be too sure with Dionysus. You could think you had escaped unscathed, and then he’d get you.

He didn’t realise he was holding his breath until Mr D made it clear they were dismissed, and he let it out slowly before making his way out of the big house- but paused a moment, not sure what to do. He assumed they’d meet up at the stables, or the tower grounds. Some place common. He hesitated for a few seconds, before starting back to the cabin he shared with is siblings. He doubted he’d be able to take Moe with him- the big dog simply wasn’t anything but conspicuous. Part of that was Michael’s fault- he needed to get into the dogs training, but always seemed to get distracted by other things. The big fluffy goof ball would just have to stay behind on this mission.

And Michael would feel better about leaving if Moe was there, to give his siblings and the camp some extra protection if needed. Things just didn’t seem to be right, a little bit of…. Wrongness all around them. And clumsy though Moe was, he could be ferocious when people he cared about were in danger. Much like Michael himself. He wasn’t surprised when the big dog came trotting up happily, tail wagging as if he’d been called for food.

Running his hand through the dogs fur, Michael took some comfort from the dogs presence as he turned towards the Athena cabin, thinking on what he would need. There were many good things about being a child of Athena, perhaps the most useful when leaving the camp was the mere fact he could pack light and adjust to any weapon he acquired on the go. Moving to his room, Michael grabbed his backpack, and methodology began to pack it, grabbing a couple of changes of clothes, paper and writing utensils, the small first aid kit he kept, both for himself and Moe. He paused, thinking on what else he might need. He could stop and get some travel food from the kitchens, and he could stop by the Iris cabin to see about getting access to the communication network.

Never leave home without a means to call for help, or have a way back. On that thought, he grabbed his compass, and began to riffle through some papers, frowning slightly. Finally, he came out with a small collection of maps, looking over them before nodding with satisfaction and putting them in the pack. Moe lay over the threshold to his room, and when he rose, tail wagging happily, Michael glanced to the door, watching as Niesha came into view. He turned back to zip up his pack, before turning to her, sliding one strap over his shoulder.

β€œApparently I’m g-g-going t-to Australia with s-s-ome of t-t-the others on a retrieval.” He said softly, giving a shrug of his shoulders as if it was nothing. Why he had been chosen, he didn’t know. All he was good for was critical thinking- and the only reason he had some skill in fighting was because of what he’d inherited from their mother.

β€œFigured as much, the camp is going to be pretty empty it seems, with a lot of us going on quests.” Niesha said, β€œYou taking Moe?”

Michael shook his head, as the big ball of fur wagged his tail faster at hearing his name. β€œG-Got no idea h-how I’d t-take him w-with. B-buh-better to leave h-him h-here.” He said, leaning down to give the dog a good petting. β€œB-besides, h-he’s b-better here. It’s all h-he knows.” Michael wasn’t good at lying, and had to hope that his sister, who knew him better than he knew himself, wouldn’t see through his words. He glanced to her, giving her a small smile and a shrug. β€œT-t-think it’s t-time to p-put the books away, Ness.”

β€œNever thought I’d hear you say that, Mikey. You once said books are life” Niesha said, a little teasingly, and Michael fell silent for a few moments, deep in thought. There were times when Niesha could be surprisingly innocent, despite her tough exterior. She didn’t like letting people in, afraid to lose them… being at the camp was good for the both of them, but there were some things Michael knew they both had to face.

β€œSometimes we have to do things we’d rather not, Nessie. We can’t be caught unawares because we’d rather be doing what we prefer, then what is necessary.” He said in a soft voice, looking back to his sister. How he wished things could stay the same, even for a little bit. [color=00A99D]β€œWe have to be what is needed, sometimes.”]/color] And that meant sometimes stepping out of their comfort zone, and…. Perhaps it was time to stop hiding in the shadows. Michael gave Niesha another smile, reaching out to lay a hand on her shoulder for a moment. β€œD-don’t f-forget to w-walk Moe.” He lay a hand on the dogs head for a moment, β€œyou stay with Nes, Moe.” he told the dog, who seemed a little confused but didn’t follow as Michael started out of the cabin, shrugging the other strap over his arm as he walked.

"While your enthusiasm is admirable, Miss Lucasta- curb it. Now..."

Right at the moment Mr. D had demanded she quiet down, Vivian could feel a part of her soul leaving her as she sealed her lips. It didn’t take much to strike the fear of God -- well, not the ones that had children at Camp, but the Christian/Catholic God -- into her. Aggressive tones and superior convictions were enough to make VIvian wish she wasn’t Vivian. And as sure as she was about virtually nothing other than how sunlight and music can cure all ailments, Vivian just looked at everyone as the conversations continued about why they were here.

And as it went on, Vivian thought about how she hasn’t been on a real quest in a while. Maybe it’s been a few months since before summer break. She didn’t have a large role in it, but she was helpful. It was in Las Vegas and she went with Damien Blake and Armani Bianchi. They were tasked with investigating reports of a minotaur on a berserking rage. And she’ll never forget how utterly useless she was during that quest. While the other two were virtually flawless in how they disabled the best without so much as a single scratch on themselves, the so-called medic assigned to the quest hadn’t been needed.

And maybe that played a part in why Vivian always felt uncertain about her own abilities. She knew that she wasn’t much use. She knew that when it came to contributing to the team’s success, she was more of a liability. It didn’t matter if she was the daughter of Apollo or not. Sure, she could bring smiles to everyone at parties and give them a show by singing for them and making them feel good.

But in actual combat? Her skills were abysmal.

As part of a team? She didn’t feel like she belonged.

I shouldn’t be here--

β€œ--The rest of you--”

Vivian was snapped out of the mental beating she had been giving herself for however long. She hadn’t heard anything that was said, but when she looked at Mr. D, though she didn’t dare interrupt him, she listened to him. At some point, Grayson was here. How did she not realize this? And wait what happened with India?

β€œUhm, sir..”

Vivian stopped talking, remembering exactly what he said earlier. She didn’t want to make him mad again.

No india, but they were going to Australia. Australia was hot right? Hot meant sunshine. Sunshine meant that she’d be of use.

Maybe hope wasn’t lost after all. Maybe there was still some for her to cling to.

Okay! This was good.

And then Grayson suggested that their squad...team -- whatever you wanted to call them -- bring Ky’Vie.

Oh! Vivian liked Ky’Vie. She was intense and sometimes felt like she had a lot to say, but Vivian liked her. And, well she’d never say this to her face, but she liked looking at her to.

That’s to say that Vivian could admire her from the perspective of someone who likes all people and their...qualities.

Aaaaaaaand Vivian was starting to go red inside. Soon enough, as she thought about it, Vivian’s face was red like the inside of a pomegranate.

As she collected herself, she managed to not completely shit herself when Mr. D had seemingly dismissed everyone. She...lingered for a few seconds before proppering herself upright and followed the rest out.

I should soak up as much sun as I need to. You never know what could happen,” Vivian thought as she took a deep breath in as soon as she stepped out of the Big House.

The sun hit her body and she stood outside of the Big House and kept doing her breathing exercises as she felt the warmth of the sun being absorbed into her body, feeling it rejuvenating her spirit and strength. All of the negative thoughts she had during the entire time she remained silent was starting to leave her body, being replaced with nothing but positivity and the good vibes she always felt when she soaked up the sun.

Just like whenever she talked to daddy. Just like when she spoke to Uncle Helios. Just like when she was with her friends.

β€œI can do this.”

Alone, Kalinda tided up and took a few moments to herself, stepping outside the medbay and letting the sun hit her. Chaos ran around her feet, but for the moment Kalinda ignored the fuzzy tube sock, closing her eyes and leaning back against the wall. She drew in a deep breath, and let her thoughts wonder as they wished. For a moment, she didn’t try to control anything. There wasn’t much she could control these days, except her self. And even then, she struggled there. She sighed, turning her head towards the sun a bit more, letting the warmth of it wash over her weary body.

As her mind wandered, it seemed to give her just what she needed- or perhaps it was telling her to read a story she hadn’t for a while, but the small poem- always drawn to them, Kalinda never could seem to forget one- seemed to flood her thoughts. They won’t tell you fairy tales of how girls can be dangerous and still win. They will only tell you stories where girls are sweet and kind and reject all sin.

I guess to them its a terrifying thought, a red riding hood who knew exactly where she was doing, when she invited the wild in.
. As it seemed to trail away from her, Kalinda let her eyes open, and leaned down to pick up the ferret, who squirmed in her grip. No, fairy tales were just that, stories made up to show the happiness in the world, for who would want the darkness? There was darkness in them all, Kalinda knew, and perhaps thats why her feet took her towards the Hades cabin, and the graveyard.

Part of her was always drawn there, whenever her thoughts drifted to the past. She hadn’t ever got her mother a tombstone, or even a memorial stone. She should really do something about it, but…. She couldn’t bring herself to do so, not when she’d been such a disgraceful daughter… Shaking her head, Kalinda tried to turn her thoughts away from that dark, spiralling tunnel. She was a healer, not a destroyer.

Sometimes she wished she believed that. Stopping out from the Apollo cabin, she paused for a few moments, before stepping inside- returning Chaos to her cage, she flicked a glance towards Viv’s room, but was unsurprised to see it empty. Whatever was happening, Viv was still- perhaps facing Mr D’s wrath- at the big house. Hesitating another moment, Kalinda was soon continuing on her way, the sun shining on her bare skin- knowing she ought to take its comfort, but unable to do so, not just yet.

Slowing as she neared the Hades cabin, draw in a breath and turned towards the graveyard. Hopefully no one would be there, too busy with other things in this fucked up day. And Kalinda could get this little ritual over with in solitude.

Cyrus Ray Starr

β€” Ϋ΅ ۞ Ϋ΅ β€”

Location: Edge of the Forest; Camp Half-Blood - Long Island Sound; New York.
Interacting With: Octavia RamΓrez-Arellano @Vicier

Cyrus laughed in response to Octavia's cooking joke as he made his way closer to her. When he was about six feet away he continued with his response. "You think so? I think I even got the charred smell just right. And I noticed. I'm surprised the morning games are over already. Where is everyone?" He did see some campers walking around as he flew overhead, but comparatively it felt like a ghost town with the prominent members of camp seemingly missing. He'd ask her about that later. Right now it was clear that something was on her mind and he was soon proven right.

He sat down beside her sitting his back against the tree. He looked up at it slightly feeling the shade of the leaved branches above them. The air was cool and nice and he was really starting to see why she liked it here so much. He turned his head back to her and began to think. Cyrus figured she was talking about Talon. Her other brothers were easier to get along with. He and Talon had some similar issues so he always felt as if the son of Ares was a kindred spirit in a way, but never really tried to pursue a friendship. The guy had built walls that Cyrus knew he couldn't brute strength his way through. "You mean Talon, right? Yeah... That's not gonna be easy. I've known people like Talon, both back in Kansas and from camp. He's stuffed his feelings in a bottle, buried it underground, and built a fort around it. But it's not his fault. I can't pretend to know his past but I know one thing that's common among demigods. Monsters follow us wherever we go, but not every monster a demigod will face is a mythological one. They face the very real monsters of the world that bring nothing but pain, suffering, and tragedy. I recognized the look when he first got here. It was the same as Erin's and many others."

He paused for a moment before letting out a sigh. He hated it sometimes and didn't really understand why things had to be so difficult for a lot of them. They could handle monsters you could fight, but too many demigods had felt the dark forces of the world rise against them when they didn't need to. They had gods for parents and instead of looking out for them they were left to fend for themselves until they could be rescued and brought to Camp Trauma where too many kids were suffering just like you. At times Cyrus felt guilty. No one in the outside world could hurt him even if they wanted to and while at camp he hasn't really done anything to help the others through their pain. He knew it wasn't his job, but what good was there being a hero when you didn't or couldn't help them when it really mattered. The sound of a nearby bird stopped Cyrus from drowning in his own thoughts and he turned back to Octavia to continue with his advice. "But if you want to get through to him you can't force it. He's only going to shut down or push you away. Instead just be there, even if it's in silence. Join him in things that he likes or even bring him here. As you can attest it's a great place for thinking."

Damien Blake had laid on the dirt for...well, he couldn't tell you how long it's been. Whenever Serafina left to Gods-know-where, probably annoying the crap out of some unlucky sap, he'd just been laying next to the same tombstone everyone at the cabin knew was his. The same one that Sera had found him sitting on. Even as Shadowhunter whistled, his selectively sentient pair of short swords who seemed to care more about what he did more than he could muster in a single grunt. The same pair of swords that were imbued with the very souls he commanded, yet was nothing more than a tool for his powers to extend themselves through.

Yeah, his Shadowhunter was hissing in his head, but it was in an unique frequency. Probably its way of telling him to stop sulking about losing.

"You try losing because you were tickled into submission. Oh wait."

hiss hiss

Yeah yeah, you go off like that. Ain't like Shadow can do much about it, now can it?

And maybe this was the moment where Damien had reach new lows. He lost to Serafina, who was a worthy, if not creative sparring partner, but now he lost the battle of common sense to his own fucking swords.

As he contemplated just how low he could go, for some reason he was thinking about Erin and about how she probably was on her quest by now. He wondered if Zeru was really going to look out for her better than he would have. Well, that's impossible but laying on the ground did give Damien the time to think. No, it didn't change his mind that Zeru was a tool and would never hear the Son of Hades say anything other than that, but even he could admit that the Son of Zeus was strong. There was a reason why neither of them won a match against each other. For as much as Damien wished it and as much as he was certain Zeru wished it, they both were equal in pure strength and there was no beating that.

So maybe that's why he found peace in the fact that he was on that quest with Erin. It made him curse himself into a kip-up to his feet, grunting as he did so, but Damien would remain content on that matter.

Just as he was about to head in, Damien felt something in the earth. And a moment later, Shadowhunter hissed in its "danger is approaching" frequency. Holding his hand own, both swords were at the ready as Damien faced towards the cabin. He was ready to strike, channeling his power into the hilt of both swords. It wasn't until he saw who was approaching the graveyard did he have a moment of anticlimactic disappointment. "Oh, all the people." Shaking his head, he sheathed his sword. "What are you doing here, Kalinda? Kinda far from your usual place of sunshine and rainbows, ain't ya?" He teased as he took a seat on his tombstone throne.

After both Katherine and Swayer had left, Kareem was left alone to do the chores in the greenhouse. Again. He didn't mind; he liked the quietness and stillness of the greenhouse. Something about being surrounded by plants, dirt, and hard work gave him some peace of mind. He was glad he hadn't been called to the Big House, unlike poor Sawyer.

Probably some search and rescue.

Kareem had never been to one partly because he didn't like going out of the camp much. And because he didn't feel useful in his permanent condition. Kareem liked to act like the missing arm didn't bother him when it did. Very much so. It wasn't that he didn't feel complete, that wasn't it. It just felt... different. After recovering fully from his little run-in with that asshole of a scorpion. Now scorpions were something that Kareem didn't fuck with at all. He could still remember the sudden burning pain when the stinger penetrated his skin and boiled his blood all the way up his arm- and then nothing. The next thing he remembered was the hospital and his arm was gone.

The phantom pain was a bitch to deal with. There were days when he couldn't do much but lay in bed. Those nights were the worst. Katherine had tried to help Tatiana and Vivian as well, but nothing they did much to sedate the pain. Other days it wasn't even the pain, it was just an itch he couldn't scratch on his left hand. Other times it was the left thumb.

He rubbed the stump after he put down the water hose. Sometimes there was not much you could do, and that was fine.

Kareem perked up when he heard his name being called behind him. He turned back, looking around until he spotted Remus. He gave the boy an easy smile, waving with his right hand.

"Hey, Rem! Didn't know you " Last Kareem remembered Remus had been out retrieving a new camper- as there she was. "Oh, hello there!" His smiled widen, feeling the familiar energy that surrounded her. A new half-sister? Half-cousin?

Either way, now he wouldn't have to do the field chores alone.

She should have known she wouldn’t be lucky enough to have the place for a few minutes to herself. She didn’t know what she expected, given that it was the Hades cabin domain, but she had hoped. Kalinda shrugged her shoulders, briefly glancing to Damien before looking away. β€œWel all have darkness in us, Damien. Sometimes even the sun is overshadowed by the moon.” She said softly, shifting slightly as she debated what to say, looking up at the sky. The sun was always there, always waiting. Always ready to envelope her in a warmth that made her feel, even slightly, better.

β€œPhilosophy isn’t for me, and that’s probably a load of bullshit, but whatever.” She said in a off handish tone, before she swallowed, falling silent for a moment or two as she tried to think whether she ought to leave and come back later, or just get on with it. β€œI… wasn’t a good daughter to my mother… I never even gave her a memorial stone, I ran away in fear and grief when she died. Figure it’s time to at least do something… β€œ She trailed off, wincing as she realised she probably should have asked, instead of essentially trespassing.

She looked down at her hands and sighed, β€œI probably should have asked, shouldn’t I? Wasn’t thinking.” Her sister was being sent on a quest, and even if Vivian wasn’t perturbed by her vision, Kalinda was. Things seemed to be going down the toilet faster than sand in a hour glass, and she couldn’t help but feel…. Disheartened. She hadn’t even considered that it might be a bit full of herself, as well as annoying, to just rock up… she knew she got a bit pissed off if people messed with her things in the medical bay.”Sorry”

Remus was relieved when Kareem answered, glad he had a way to at least get Riley passed onto someone else- the girl was certainly a handful. And he was terrified of her take it as it came attitude, of not thinking things through. She had, after all, nearly got him killed several times. Running across the fucking road, who did that when there was oncoming cars? He mentally shook his head, managing to give Kareem a smile. β€œHey... Found this stray trying to fight a few things twice her size. Figured I’d bring her home.” He said, in a light, slightly amused tone.

β€œHEY! I was doing just fine!” RIley said, frowning, and placing her hands on her hips as she turned towards him.

β€œYou were nearly impaled when I came along.”

β€œWas not!”

β€œWas too- I’m not arguing!” He threw up his hands, sighing and running a hand through his slightly mussed up hair. β€œShe’s a bit of a handful, I’m sorry… Dionysus told me to bring her here.” And that god for that, she was going to be the death of him, he was sure. If he was a cat, he was sure she would have been reasonable for 8 of his 9 lives. β€œLooks like you’ve got another for the Demeter cabin.”

Riley glanced around the, what she assumed, were fields. There seemed to be a neverending supply of Strawberries, among other things. While it was impressive, Riley had to wonder what they did with all the strawberries. Was it some sort of jam making cult? Were these a special breed of strawberries, some sort of drug? She was beginning to think that anything was possible, and for a few moments, grumbling under her breath at the disrespect of Remus, she let her thoughts wonder.

Eventually, her gaze moved back to the new boy she was apparently being palmed off to.He was taller than her, and seemed quite muscled- was it working in the fields? Or was it the camp? Even Remus, who looked like he was a scrawny stick was well toned, despite his rather snivelling and nervous nature. The boy had black hair, which seemed to go well with his dark eyes. Her gaze was drawn to the tattoos that seemed to cover a lot of his body, and she had to wonder just how many he had, and how long he had been collecting them for. As she opened her mouth to ask, she was distracted by noticing he was missing an arm.

β€œGet on the wrong side of a beastie too, huh?” She asked before her mind could catch up with her mouth, and a little mortified- but not much, she clapped a hand over her mouth. β€œSorry, sometimes my mouth has a mind of its own.” She ducked her head a little sheepishly, β€œUm. Anyway. I’m Riley. And what the fuck is a Demeter cabin? Remus has told me fuck all, except nagging me about being the death of him” Perhaps if she just kept talking, they’d forget her little mishap.

Claire squinted her eyes before looking left and right, was she lost? No, there was no way Artemis would give her bad directions, that would be extremely uncharacteristic of her. Each step she took, she heard the crunching of the leaves underneath her feet, she was close, it reeked of demigod around here and it was male demigods as well. Which was... New, to say the least. She did seem a little lost but being a trained huntress, and a demigod, she could only ever really be without a purpose for a few minutes.

She wandered around the forest, running her hand against a few trees every now and then to feel for tracks or different textures that may lead her to this camp that she was told to got to.

"Be my eyes! And report back to me when things go awry." She muttered to herself, repeating the words told to her by Artemis herself. She was alone on her journey here, and she was almost losing her mind the longer she stayed in the woods by herself. She hopped on a tree root and started walking on it like it was a tight rope, hands stretched to the side and all. "Man, that smell is everywhere, but I guess it doesn't matter when there's a protective field around." She said shrugging to herself before jumping off the tree root. She then looked up and what appeared in front of her was the gateway to Camp Half-blood, she had finally found it. She jumped, and had this huge smile plastered on her face as she reached her arm through the gateway first, there was definitely a protective field around since it made the hair on her arm stand up as she ran her hand through it. She took a step in and she was finally in Camp Half-Blood.

"Meet with the men in the Big House, they'll get you situated." She whispered to herself, again mimicking the words that Artemis told her. She walked through the camp, and received a few weird glances from the campers that were currently residing in the camp. She smiled at each one though, which was very much like her to do so. Her white outfit definitely made her stand out a little, along with headband and her bow which made it very clear to everyone what she was. She came up to the big house, and it lived up to its name pretty well, she was completely unsure of what to do but going to the aptly named Big House does sound like the way to go.

Before she could open the door, people started leaving the Big House, she gave them awkward little waves because they looked like they did not want to be talked to, she turned back to the door and knocked three times, peaking her head through the door, "Hello, anybody here? My name is Claire Scott, uh... I don't know exactly what to do, Artemis kinda just asked me to come here and talk to anyone here." She stepped in the Big House and waited for these men to show up and assist her.

It is a little odd for Artemis to send her to some talk to some men, but she always trusted the Goddess anyway.

Take your pick. There was no contest. Tyler didn't have any actual problem with Brandon, though the guy really knew how to get under one's skin at times, he wasn't hard to deal with. Ezra, in all reality, was good company too. He just much rather preferred Brandon to come along than Ezra. Spencer still hadn't shown up. If Ty had anything to be thankful for, it was that Spence was a no-show. Snape was one that Ty really couldn't stand to be around, though he always put on a brave face for Erin because he knew that the two were friends. It wasn't till he heard Carlos' voice that he was brought back to the present moment, furrowing his eyebrows as he looked from Bran to Carlos and out at the general group. What was it with everyone thinking that his and Brandon's back and forth banter was them actually being hostile with each other? Ty rolled his eyes and sipped at his tea, zoning out temporarily while the others talked amongst themselves about what was going on.. though that temporary zone-out didn't last too long.

Erin was on the move. As she talked to the rest of the boys, Tyler quickly stood up and carried his mug into the kitchen to pour out the last of his tea. Giving the cup a quick rinse, he set it upsidedown on the dish rack before jogging back into the living room just in time to see Erin opening up a shadow portal in the corner of the room. It was always cool watching her work her "magic". Of course, Tyler knew the different gods offered their children different powers, as that's just simply how genetics worked, but with Tyler being the son of Hermes he didn't get abilities like what Erin had. It never ceased to amaze him when she used her abilities. He couldn't help but kind of geek out anytime she did. The question of who would go through first was thrown out there, and Tyler quickly pushed forward, but not before grabbing Carlos by the shoulders as he walked forward towards the portal.

"Don't everybody jump through at once." Tyler chuckled softly, letting Carlos go just as they stepped up to the portal before walking around him with his back to the portal as he looked at his best friend. "Come on, buddy. Let's git it."

Before Tyler stepped back into the portal, disappearing into the utter darkness, he turned to Erin and gave her a soft smile as he mumbled, "Ne vedem de cealaltă parte."

β€œ..which one of you is first..? I can’t hold it open forever…”

Ezra shook his head gently with a smirk, standing off to the side as he watched the group before him a moment. Part of him sat there wondering if he would see the faces in the room again, or if this would be the last time he laid his eyes on them. He was sure it was something on everyone's mind, but like him, no one would openly speak the thoughts out loud. Though he hoped everyone would return, the fact of the matter was that this quest seemed to be a pretty tall order. All one could do was hope that it was fulfilled, and the quest was brought to its bitter end. It was enough thinking about the fact that if this group couldn't recover the stupid bird that one of his best friends would be brought to her own bitter end. Though it wasn't like most of the camp wouldn't be up in arms if that happened. Erin had more people in her corner than she realized, or sometimes cared to admit. It wouldn't be the first time the children of the gods stood against their godly parents.

The first volunteer, of course, was Tyler. And as Tyler made his way through the portal, Ezra stepped forward to stand behind Erin as he placed a firm hand on her shoulder to let her know he was right there with her. The eldest son of Deimos' eyes soon flooded black as he too used his abilities, doing what he could to help Erin in the present moment. Though she put on a brave face for the group, fear was radiating from her like crazy. Ezra pulled his other hand up to her other shoulder and squeezed gently before resting his cheek over the top of her head as he closed his eyes to focus.

"You're doing great, Er. Just breathe," he whispered to her so that only she would hear him.

With the approval to have Ky'vie tag along and the swift dismissal, Greyson made himself scarce with the rest of the group that had been brought to the Big House. All at once, it seemed, the group pushed out of the building with Grey tagging along patiently at the back of the pack. His eyes first caught Vivian, soaking up some of the morning sun's rays with a smile that seemed to be 100-watts itself. It was contagious. A smile crept over Grey's features as he took a step towards the cabins before hearing a voice behind him. A voice he couldn't recall as familiar to him. Turning, Grey's eyes fell on a blond girl standing at the door to the Big House, calling to someone inside. She must have been new. More than one thing about what he was witnessing before him pointed to that. Grey turned back around and walked over to the girl, clasping his hands behind his back as he stood up straighter before addressing the girl.

"I, uhm, wouldn't do that, luv. Mister D isn't in the best of moods, at this time. Might want to drop back by later in the day." Grey's eyes wandered over to see Vivian still nearby, glancing back at the girl. "I'm Greyson, by the way. Unfortunately, I'm right in the middle of going to retrieve someone for a quest, but Vivian here," he spoke the girl's name a little louder so she would hear him, motioning to Viv to come on over with a charming smile. "-Vivian is also accompanying me on said quest, but while I locate our other quest member maybe she could help you settle yourself in..?"

Greyson turned his eyes on Vivian, giving her a small smile. "I'll go find Ky'vie. Then we'll get the others and head out. Meet at Half-Blood Hill in..30?" Though it was against how Greyson handled conversations, normally allowing someone to reply before taking his leave, he turned and began jogging down the dirt path without giving Vivian the chance to get back to him, calling to the new girl over his shoulder with a wave, "Was a pleasure to have met you, by the way!" It gave him ample time to locate Ky'vie - wherever she may be - and for Vivian to help out the new girl enough to send her on her way before they made their way to Australia. Greyson pulled his phone from his pocket and quickly shot a text out to Ky'vie as he made his way to her cabin to check for her there if she didn't get back to him before he found her.

Zeru made a slight gulp once Erin completely formed the door in front of them. He didn't know why, but he wasn't expecting an actual door into darkness. He figured she'd swallow them all up or force them into their own shadows or something. Both thoughts seemed equally terrifying, but this? This was just like stepping into the unknown. But Zeru wasn't the type of man to shy away from things that scared him, especially since it was rare for him to feel that emotion. When you've been running from and chasing monsters for as long as he has not much could actually frighten you. But he always felt uneasy around shadows and closed spaces. It was an unfortunate side effect of being his father's son, but compared to the benefits it wasn't really much of an issue.

He initially planned to head in first just so he could get it over with, but Tyler seemed to beat him to the punch. Once he was through he turned to see Ezra comforting Erin. Why wasn't he going on the quest again? It would be nice if they could just scare the thief into handing over the Dove and they were already down one member of the team. He decided not to voice his opinion on the matter. He was sure if they, or more specifically Erin, needed Ezra he'd find a way to Italy. The guy could teleport after all. Zeru decided it was his time to clear the room and tucked Aquila into his chest. If he didn't want to walk through the door there was no way he was going to let his girl face the full brunt of darkness.

"Here goes nothing." Was all that was said before Zeru charged forward into the unknown ready to face what was on the other side.

Alina listened to Mr. D's announcing of the names over the intercom. She didn't recognize his "you're all in trouble" tone, but it surprised her how busy today seemed to be. Erin's huge quest and now two large groups were possibly about to head out as well. She could tell that this was going to be an interesting summer. She couldn't wait to see what she'd end up painting by the end of it. Jamie's question redrew her attention and she turned back to her before giving a slight nod and another sip of her coffee.

"I'll go check my network and I'll get back to you. Let me go get dressed first. It's about time I officially start my day."

Anytime she wanted to wake up from this... increasingly strange dream would be welcome. From finding Vaen outside her apartment, his furry-goat-satan legs, to their mad sprint to this place and him telling her to get to the top of this hill for some... camp? A camp that was the only safe place on the planet for people like herself? As she stormed up the hill to get some answers as to what the hell was going on, Ryley swore to herself that she would kick his furry little rear. Especially since she was at least 50% certain that this place she had been taken to was a cult of some sort. The exact last kind of place she wanted to be at the moment, but still... the only way she would get any answers was crossing that hill. Storming her way up the hill, Ryley soon heard the sound of thunder somewhere nearby, and another curse slipped past the blonde's lips. Of course it had to rain. She thought to herself since the scene wouldn't be complete without drenching her clothes.

So focused was she on the task of getting into this 'camp' and demanding answers out some poor fucker, that Ryley didn't even notice that it was not storming in the area immediately around her. Instead, she was being followed by her own personal storm as she crossed the invisible barrier and saw... a camp. Yep. What looked to be a normal-ass summer camp. Was this really what Vaen had dragged her all the way here, in such a panic, over? To attend some stupid summer camp with him? Oh, she was going to kill that stupid boy. From her spot on the hill, she could see several people seemingly spread throughout the camp. A series of cabins, what seemed to be a mess hall, an amphitheater. Off to one side, she could see a canoe laker, strawberry fields, a forest that gave her the creeps, and... was that a rock climbing wall with LITERAL LAVA running down one side? "What the fuck is this place..." The girl whispered softly, turning then towards the large house that seemed to radiate importance. Moreso, she saw what seemed to be a few figures standing outside of the house.

Storming (quite literally) down towards the assembled group, Ryley was unaware that her own anger at the whole situation, and being rained on, were only fueling the storm growing above her head. To those watching, the blonde rapidly closing the distance on them had quite the black cloud overhead, electricty arcing around the cloud itself. The distance closed, the storm intensified. As she stopped, a few away from the group, Ryley started to yell. "What the he-" She started, cut off by a thunderous boom as a bolt slammed into the ground next to her. The girl screamed out in panic and leaped away from the spot, eyes wide at what she was certain was a near-death experience. Her anger and concentration, however, were stolen by this sudden scare and as a result, the cloud overhead rapidly started to dissipate. Instead, the ground around her was bathed in a sort of golden light, unnatural, but not something the girl paid any mind towards. Above her head, a floating image of a thunderbolt glowed a brilliant golden, declaring Ryley's parentage to those who understood the symbol.

Ryley, however, was not paying this strange light any mind. Wheeling back on the group, Ryley herself seemed calmer but her eyes betrayed that anger still buried inside. "What in the actual hell is this place!?" She demanded, her tone sounded all the least bit friendly.
