|-ABILITIES|-
-Physical Capabilities-
Asgardian-Xandarian Hybrid: Hakon has both Asgardian and Xandarian blood, which means that he is stronger and tougher than a human. This means that his physical abilities are mostly on an Olympic level athlete’s level. Hakon also heals faster than a human. And since he’s part Asgardian, Hakon could potentially live for several thousand years, keeping the same appearance for most of that time.
-Skills & Talents-
Burglary: For most of his life, burglary has been Hakon’s primary occupation. Perhaps owing to both his parents being criminals, Hakon showed a natural inclination toward crime as well. From a young age he shoplifted often, never being caught. As he got older, Hakon’s methods of stealing became more advanced. Now he knew how to turn off security systems, sneak around undetected, and how to crack safes. Hakon also has skills working with others on heists, as he done various group jobs over the years.
Piloting: Hakon is somewhat of a maverick pilot, having spent many hours actually flying. As part of his work with the Silver Eye Cartel, Hakon became accustomed to piloting their transports. Being a criminal also meant that Hakon was frequently being chased, leading to many narrow getaways by Hakon’s ship. All of these experiences have made it that Hakon is an adept pilot.
Sword Fighting: As Hakon favours his blade in a fight, he has spent many years learning how to use it properly. While initially he wielded it wildly in a fight, training under other swordsmen, including his father, have made Hakon much more proficient. Against most opponents he can handle himself well.
Asgardian Lore: As Hakon became an adult, he became more interested in his Asgardian heritage. Because of this, Hakon has spent a lot of time learning as much about Asgard that he can. Because of this, Hakon knows far more about the reclusive realm than most others who travel the stars. Part of this lore is related to rune magic, which helped Hakon control his powers.
-Powers-
Rune Magic: Hakon inherited his father’s natural affinity for magic. He is able to cast most magic, like healing, minor illusions, and barriers. The way Hakon calls forth these powers is through the use of runes, ancient stones etched with magic power.
Portal Generation: Hakon’s most used power, this magic comes naturally and does not require runes to cast. By channelling his innate magic through his sword, Hakon can cut through time and space, creating a worm hole to another location. The range of this portal is limited to a size roughly the same as a large city. Thus it is more limited than say the portal magic used by the Sorcerer Supreme. If other mages were to pool their magic into Hakon, the range of his portals could increase, possibly to no limit.
The All-Speak: As an Asgardian, Hakon has the magical power of immediately understanding any language, being able to speak it flawlessly. This includes any possible language, including something as strange as Groot or Brood.
-Gear-
Rune-etched Blade: A gift from his father, this Asgardian blade has stayed by Hakon’s side for most of his life. Forged by the Dwarfs of Svartalfheim, this blade was forged for Hakon’s grandfather, the former Captain of the Guard of Asgard. With powerful runes etched within, this blade was meant to channel magic. One useful feature of the blade is that it will always return to its owner, in a manner similar to the hammer Mjolnir.
Xandarian Blaster: A standard blaster used by the Nova Corps, in recent years it has been found in use by many Xandarian criminals. Hakon’s particular blaster was stolen from a shipment of goods to Xandar, ending up in the hands of the Silver Eye Cartel, who then gave it to Hakon. The blaster fires a shot of charged energy that can sear through flesh and damage metal. It is also small enough that it is easy to hide on one’s person.
Runes: Hakon always keeps a few runes on himself at all times as you never know when a spell could be needed. These powerful artifacts are kept in a small bag hidden in Hakon’s jacket. Certain particular runes are needed to cast certain spells.
-ORIGINS-
Hakon’s father was Skarde, a famous battle mage of Asgard, one respected by Odin himself. He would remain in favour with the All-Father until a certain battle against a group of goblins. While Skarde led the forces of Asgard to victory, he then secretly looted from the villages he had just rescued. When Odin learnt of this, he was so embarrassed that one of his own men would do this, so in a rage he banished him from Asgard.
Meanwhile, Hakon’s mother Kado Whill, an agent of the Nova Corps. She was quickly rising through the ranks, in part because of her great skill as a spy. This would come to a end when Nova Prime became aware that Kado was selling Xandarian secrets to the Kree Empire. As the Xandarians and Kree were effectively in a cold war, this was a capital offence. But Kado caught wind of this and fled Xandarian space.
Both Skarde and Kado would find themselves hiding on Earth, specifically New York City. Arriving at the turn of the twentieth century, they would find themselves in a quickly changing city. In this city, the only work they could find was with the mob. That was how they met, when they were both employed by the same man. They both immediately each other as not being from Earth, and began a relationship. This would quickly lead to Kado becoming pregnant.
Skarde was glad to become a father, but it was not to be. Lady Sif had tracked him down to New York, bringing news that Odin was ready to forgive him and let him return to Asgard. While initially torn, Skarde’s need for power won out, so he left his new family. However, he left his unborn son his rune blade, perhaps out of what little remorse he had for leaving.
When her son was finally born, Kado named him Hakon, a traditional Asgardian name. Raising him a single mother was very hard for Kado, and it quickly became too much for her. When Hakon, or Harry as he went by to humans, turned sixteen his mother left, heading for the west coast. Now without anyone to support him, Hakon found himself much like his parents, working for mob.
For most of the 1920s, Hakon worked for the Broadway Mob, a large bootlegger gang in New York. It was there that he learnt to sneak around and be a thief. Once prohibition ended, Hakon decided to go solo, becoming a cat burglar. He did this for many years, becoming somewhat bored with it. Using the money he had accrued, Hakon decided to hunt down his mother. That search led to Los Angeles, where Hakon found a gang of aliens hiding about. Using his all-speak, Hakon convinced them to help him get off planet.
So Hakon finally left Earth and headed for Xandar. Once there he couldn’t locate his mother, so he worked as a burglar for a while, that was until he was approached for the Silver Eye Cartel. This large group of Xandarian criminals were interested in his skills, including his Asgardian magic. Figuring why not, Hakon joined the gang. For several decades, Hakon was a core member of the cartel, outliving the old leaders and see new ones come in.
Still the issue of his parents’ whereabouts weighed on Hakon’s mind. After many years he finally had a lead on his mother. Hakon would find that she had lived the last years of her life in Shi’ar space, being buried on the planet on Chandilar. Following discovering the death of his mother, Hakon fell into a drunken stupor, just wandering the galaxy.
It was in one of these drunken states that Hakon found himself on Nowhere. As he left a bar he spotted a group of Asgardians entering the home of the Collector. Curious, Hakon followed them. The Asgardians were giving a
small red stone to the Collector. As they left, they spotted the drunken Hakon. Initially thinking that he was here to steal the stone, one of them recognized Hakon’s blade. It turned out that this man was Skarde. Vouching for Hakon, Skarde brought him back to Asgard with him.
Skarde was excited to finally be a father. He helped Hakon sober up and train him to properly use his blade. Hakon would remain in Asgard for about a year, during which time he joined the Asgardian Guard. However his past would be revealed to the other guards. With rumours swirling about, Hakon decided to leave Asgard for the sake of his father.
Travelling back to Xandarian space, which was still recovering from Ronan’s attack, Hakon rejoined the Silver Eye Cartel. Falling back into thievery, Hakon would re-establish his place in the gang. He even became one of the cartel’s leaders. His focus would become gaining power. This focus would be changed when Hakon heard the news that Asgard had been destroyed. Hakon immediately abandoned the cartel to search for his father, unsure if he made it off world before Asgard was destroyed.
In the midst of his search, Thanos gathered the Infinity Stones and wiped out half the universe. While Hakon was spared, most everyone he knew, including the cartel, were reduced to dust. In the wake of this tragedy, Hakon once again fell into a drunken stupor. However, this time he would end up on Earth, in his hometown of New York. It was there that he re-established the identity of Harry Wills.
For several years Hakon lived alone, just stealing enough to get by. But then a miracle happened. The Avengers were able to reverse what Thanos had done. Suddenly everyone was back. This immediately changed his outlook on life. If everyone had a second chance, that meant that Hakon had another chance to become the galaxy’s greatest thief.
Hakon then decided to remain in New York. He wished to make a name for himself in his hometown, adopting the super-villain guise of Runic.
