They say this city is magic...this probably isn't what they meant.

Cars rush by, people hurry to their jobs and meetings, the smell of coffee and bagels waft on the air, and if you look close, you might see a rat climbing a dumpster. With modern advancement came distraction, and with distraction came the near death of an ancient art. Witchcraft, the Occult, Magic. Whatever you call it, it still manages to find a way to adapt in this ever changing world. The covens are few and far between, and bloodlines have been lost to time, but the art is still alive if you just look for it. This city never sleeps; no one knows that better than the witches of the night.



Who would be on board for a modern witch coven story? It will take place in a large, romantic city. There will be conflict among the coven members who want to modernize and those who value tradition. Witch hunters lurk in every dark corner, seeking their downfall. Unlikely allies want only justice and morality. And not all witches are the good kind...

Honestly the sky is the limit, as long as you can justify why your character can do it and its not insanely OP.

@ThisIsFine Alright for sure, and what about magical races/hybrids and whatnot, would they have a place here?

I may have a spot or two open for a couple fantasy races, but this rp is more low fantasy. Classic species like vampires, werewolves, ghosts, ect. But these spots would be very limited as the focus is mostly on witches. Maybe a couple "friends of the coven" are a different fantasy species.

I presume that the RP will stay neutral or gloss over matters of IRL religion, right? That way, we don't accidentally step on toes?

The witch hunters will undoubtedly be based on religious persecution of witches, for the most part. The major driving force for their hatred of witches and magic will most likely be religion fueled. However, there can always be those who feel they have been personally wronged by witches and may use that. That's not to say that because those individuals follow xyz religion that they are representative of it as a whole, as just about every religion has bad people that use it as an excuse to do bad things. And there can always be good guy characters from religious backgrounds that show the "good side", you know?

Now some of the witch lore may be loosely based on irl pagan and wicca ideas, but I can't vouch for the accuracy.

And whether or not individual characters will have feelings one way or another about any irl religion is up to the creator. One of my characters, for example, has unflattering opinions about humans and that will probably extend to their religions as well.
