Hello everyone. I was walking around outside and noticed this crazy fog out just over there and it gave me a great idea.

It’ll be a present day slice of life casual high school setting with a creepy monster infested fog that appears every so often. Just tossing the idea out there where fighting isn’t an option since these things generally don’t die but get incapacitated.

In a sense, you can rip one apart and Iron Man style it’ll just reform over time. The monsters aren’t the main part of the story but the mystery if why and where they come from.

I want to get a general idea of how many people are interested then I’ll do a more in-depth thread.

I do have three timelines we can follow start on.
Pre-fog setting which the fog will be present but not in abundance. Monsters are only being seen briefly.
Fog Setting which the fog is becoming an issue and there have been multiple deaths every day it appears.
Post-fog setting which is after the region has gotten used to it, alarms will sound, and people will vacate the outside. Guards patrol the streets in a buddy system fashion.

Any takers? I’ve never been good at making attractive idea posts.

Force and Fury Actually kind of mellow

I like the element of the mundane and supernatural juxtaposed! TBH, I'm super busy and I just tossed an interest check of my own out there, but if mine doesn't take off (likely won't since I way overdid the lore and it's probably overwhelming) and I can find the time, I'm in. Assuming this is kind of a generic Middle America setting initially? I'd kind of like to play an edgy parkour kid who thinks he's much more badass than he actually is.

This reminds me of the movie The Fog. Tentatively interested.

Haha haven’t seen that movie in ages. I do have a cause and effect ready for it though. So hopefully it doesn’t sound to similar to things that have already been done.

Would this be anything like the movie the Mist? Because I love that movie and would totally be up for a roleplay that is even slightly like it.

I am intending for there to be monsters, but the mist would be to extreme for people to experience and survive without holding up. One of the monsters I have that will be recurring will be killing people that can't escape it, including player characters.

I think we could do a four person start and add people as time goes on.

Alright, I guess we don't do the level of craziness and despair of the Mist. But I am still interested in the concept either way and would love to see this get started.

I am working on the IC/OOC as we speak. Just wanted to confirm people would find this idea interesting.

Do you intend to execute character deaths with the consent of the player or are character deaths going to be imposed upon them without prior consent?

@Rekker
There will be consent requested but if someone hasn't posted in a while or has abandoned, I'll off them. There are things that will happen, like if you are running through the fog with X player, you could just get separated or grabbed by a "something" but it's not always a guarantee that a PC will die. Say X something is just eating everybody it sees and a PC hasn't moved or been active, it'll grab him/her and if they come back, something logical, hopefully will occur to save them.

The PC's aren't anything other than normal people but I'm not going to mid-conversation kill them off. Plus until late "game," the fog takes a while, like say, three or four posts to reach Queensborough.

I hope this answers your question. I did ramble there a bit.

I was looking to see if there was a poll thing I could do, but I didn’t find anything.

We have three settings we can go with: Pre-Fog, Fog, and Post-Fog.

Pre-Fog is more investigative and not knowing anything including not knowing the fog is the main problem. There will be slight research that the fog could be a problem.

Fog is more panic inducing for the populace. Stuff happens and usually people go missing but are either found or confirmed dead. The fog at this point is a dying effort for research since people who enter usually never come back.

Post-Fog is more silent hill style. An alarm will blare and people will run for their lives and the fog is a lot more aggressive, but so are the people. Military involvement, PMC, you name it, they are there somewhere trying to help out but usually getting massacred. People have given up on researching the fog because it is always looming at the lake. It spreads randomly and sometimes multiple times a day and it can linger for weeks. Small amounts are confirmed save to travel through, it’s the thick walls, such can be seen at the lake, that people avoid at all costs.

Time framing would be approximately… 60 minutes of light fog, 90 minutes it becomes thicker, and after 120 minutes it is at its thickest, imposing, and lethal form.

@Smiter19
I would say either Fog or Post-Fog. While Post-Fog would be closer to the movie I mentioned, the Mist, I do feel that setting in during the Fog stage would allow for some build up before everything goes to hell.

Also I posted a character sheet in the OOC thread. I'm not sure if you saw it but I made a sheriff's deputy character. Just wondering if they are acceptable.
