Pioneer Springs, MI

Singer-Songwriter
Personality:
The best way to describe Krystal, or Kris to her friends, is armored. She’s never been lucky with people and since moving out-of-state she has gotten even more hesitant and guarded. She’s always been quick with words, but now she uses her words to keep certain people at arm’s length. It’s easy to do when everyone she’s ever met has considered her “approachable but difficult”. In high school she saw herself as a delinquent, acting out to act out, and she garnered a little of a reputation among her friends for being a firecracker. Kind of weird for the band kid with loving, undivorced parents, to have that kind of worldview but sometimes you get cabin fever in life.
Around a decade removed from High School, she is probably still a little blunt and impulsive, probably could be nicer to strangers. She’s petty, but doesn’t go out of her way to set a forest on fire either. She’s got a lot going on right now in her life and in her head, but she’s not really met anyone real since she left Michigan. In fact, that’s probably the one thing she never was particularly prepared for when she left to pursue her career. Kris likes honesty, good or bad, mean or not. Don’t beat around the bush and don’t waste people’s time.

Backstory:
For years, Kris thought she was going to be stuck in Pioneer Springs forever. It was pretty close to happening. After High School ended, Kris focused a lot on making it out, despite the chance of that being shit, to be frank. Her parents were decidedly poor and she wasn’t particularly impressive enough to get a scholarship out to the University of Michigan or really anywhere. High School choir and band just hadn’t been enough and so the Michigander stuck to waiting tables while working on herself in her spare time.
The dumb little lodge would happen to be her way out, as unsurprising as it was. A few years after earning her degree and doing some local shows she ended up being asked to represent some folksy entertainment for the lodge during one of the busiest times for the old establishment. In the years since High School Kris had started to write and perform folk music, slowly building her confidence with each move forward. She was still far from Nashville or LA, but she was pretty satisfied with how much work she was putting in. As luck would have it, though, an agent from the music industry was at the lodge during such a time and things went pretty swimmingly going forward. At twenty-four the blonde left for better pastures.
She didn’t expect to be back so soon. Things with the label and the business down south didn’t go well. Her songwriting got pushed back by proven studio writers and a whole cluster of things she wasn’t happy with. Two albums in and she needed a break and she ended up planning the first flight back to Michigan, a place where she could be herself and think for the first time since she left. With the politics of the music business and her own aspirations she has found that she really needs the time away.
