Ashe listened closely to Tony. During his speech, she didn't do anything which was...uncommon for her. Usually she'd crack a joke, doze off middle speech or something of the sorts. She was never the type to listen to big speeches or to care about them for that matter.

As she listened, she came to think that maybe but just maybe, she came on too hard on these wanna-heroes. If she's going to live with them for the next 5 years, she would have to play nice eventually or she'd somehow get herself sent back to prison and then killed. There's no two ways about it. If she ends back up in prison, she's dead. If she stays with them, she'll probably still die but slower.

She rose her hand and said with a meek voice : " Well...technically, I'd just be going back to where I came from. So, no change there for me but I get what you mean. I'll play nice, Mr. Stark. I do need everyone here to keep my alive, better if everyone wants to do it instead of me having to use you as human shields. " she then quickly added with a sly grin " But, just to be clear you want me to take the symbiote away from Michael and give it to the others after I had my fun with it, eh? "

Melissa did her best to pay attention as Stark said his piece. It wasn't him she found boring and she didn't disagree with a thing he said. They did have to rely on each other when out in the shit and you couldn't rely on someone you couldn't trust, someone you weren't sure would have your back. It was just that she'd heard it all before, many times. Green Arrow liked to talk about it, A LOT, he was big on working as a cohesive team and recognising the need for no secrets. Though she often thought he was a hypocrite given some of the things he'd hidden over the years. But still, he meant well and tried to keep them together and on the same page.

She had to admit she was pleased that Ashe, at least tried to make amends even if her effort was a little off. But her crack about the symbiote had her bite back a grin. Yes the other girl seemed unpredictable and a little aggressive but she also had sarcastic wit that she could appreciate.
After Ashe had spoken and no one immediately spoke next, she sighed and decided to get her own introduction over, she wasn't looking forward to parts of it but better to get it out in the open.

"So I guess I'll go next. So I'm Melissa Lance or Songbird and I'm from Star City. I work with Green Arrow and my adopted dad is a cop. But my real dad is..." She paused as the usual shame and regret hit her in the gut. Shame at who her father had been, a well known criminal, and regret of how things had ended up. "My real dad was Eli Gold and up until I was 12 he trained me to help him with his criminal activities. He called me Screaming Siren. He was killed years ago and I have been working since with heroes. So there you have it, me in a nutshell. Former criminal turned wannabe hero. Its a work in progress." She shrugged and smiled wryly. "But don't worry I won't steal anything, we'll except maybe all the hot water."

“We two are like rubber and glue, whatever you throw at me, bounces back and sticks to you. I am not here to pretend that I want to be a hero, I am here because of one thing. My own survival.

If I stay in prison with no access to my powers, I'll be dead within the week. Only reason it didn't happen before was because Cyborg and Jinx watched over me constantly but even they'd slip up at one point or the other...and then I'd die-

-At least he wasn’t the one to give his entire backstory to the room. Took, about what? Six minutes. At least he doesn’t have to sit on the couch with her any more. Here he thought he was going to have to sit down, have a heart to heart. Here he thought she was going to be the type with all her walls up, and she pushed people away. Seems her walls are paper thin, if that’s all it took.

Oh look. More speeches. From Tony Stark.

We’re all chosen for a reason. He’s paraphrasing because it sounds like the same schtick he has heard before. Maybe he believes it more from Tony Stark because he is the rebel Avenger. His name is plastered on everything he touches, but he didn’t like the attempt to pacify him by calling Batman a hypocrite. When it seemed everyone idolized him, but him. Like he had a vendetta against Batman. Like he had something against heroes.

Like Niel is the villain.

Take it down a notch Niel. Starting to sound bitter again.

So, what from what he can gather. Attempting to direct his mind elsewhere; Iron-Man clone - he said it himself, a goody-two shoes Tony said it himself she is on the right path, well the are three he pointed to. And a person who turns into a four armed monstrosity with a shaky past, as shaky as Ashe’s defensive foundation.

And Ashe. In her own category still making herself as unlikable as ever. And all he did was kick an elevator control panel; “Well...technically, I'd just be going back to where I came from. So, no change there for me but I get what you mean. I'll play nice, Mr. Stark. I do need everyone here to keep me alive, better if everyone wants to do it instead of me having to use you as human shields. "

Oh. Oh they are doing introductions now. Shit he’s not prepared. Feeling himself relax just a little once Melissa begins to introduce herself.

So another villain looking to redeem themselves. Tony Stark seems to have a type. When there’s no immediate response from the others. He sighs. Fine. Fuck you can do this.

“Hi, this is my first AA meeting,” Niel snorts a laugh, okay that was lame, “Okay I admit. Not my finest material. But I can’t go back down the elevator and try to get it again. Cause I. uh. Yeah, let’s not talk about that. It spontaneously combusted. Weird how that happens with fancy super tech. Since someone outed me and didn’t even give me a chance to expose my own sad backstory. I am Nathaniel Quinzel, and yes, I am the Son of Joker and Harley Quinn. But, interesting fact, I am not a reformed villain. So, that’s a start, be weird if there were three in that role. Then they would have to fight for the spotlight.”

Once the fleshy Humans began to talk a lot Viral began to unfocus his hearing. Humans like to talk a lot. It’s something he never understood about their species. When other forms of communication were simpler, and more direct.

Micheal: Punching people isn’t a resolution

Viral: It can be

Micheal: Not everybody needs to be punched

Viral: Hmm you bring up a very good point. Some people need to be kicked

Micheal: You’re losing the point Viral. You sound blood thirsty, we’ve talked about this before. You’re also missing everything Tony is saying

Viral: Bwah. It’s all human bravado anyway. When his little metal suit could be-
Micheal: Not that easily

Viral: I am sure I could

Micheal: Not a wholesome way to introduce ourselves

Viral: What is a wholesome way to introduce ourselves? Should I have brought flowers?

He means this sincerely. He knows that Humans like flowers. It pacifies them for some unknown reason. Micheal brings a lot of flowers to his Human Grands.

Micheal: I don’t think this is a flower type of situation

Viral: Cookies

Micheal: You’re missing everything everyone is saying, stay focused

That is true. He hadn't heard a lick of what three Humans before him had said. Missed entirely everything Stark said because none of it sounded important. They weren’t given an order or a directive. Micheal barely got any of it because of Viral’s insistent grumbling. Hey these are my thoughts, I am not grumbling. I merely saw no importance in

Micheal: They are introducing themselves. Melissa, Nathaniel, and Ashe. Pay attention big guy.
Viral: Ah we are introducing ourselves!

Micheal: Don’t embarrass-

-and you’re flexing. Great.

Viral must look very impressive to these Humans. With his four arms. He begins to imitate poses he has seen muscled Humans make. Flexing his biceps, and posing in heroic ways, “I am Viral! I am a Symbiote of the planet Klyntar. Now I know it must be terrifying to see an alien like I in this living room. But I assure I will not make you into jam, unless-

-yep ending this before-

-I wasn’t done-

-you’re done now-

-I thought it was-

-It’s you’re going to scare them Viral-

-Do they look horrified? No-

-Yes
One of the girls has her mouth wide open agasp. The girl from earlier, sweating, looking like she showered in her own bodily fluid.

Reigning back control. Disorientated at first. But here. He thinks. Body intact? Yep.

“Sorry about that,” Micheal says, “Viral, the big guy, the alien. Can get a little over enthusiastic. We’re still working on socializing. Micheal. And Viral. We’re a pair. Um. Interesting facts-

Viral: -yours is going much better.

-okay now you know how to use sarcasm appropriately,” Micheal pauses, “Sorry. Internal conversation. Where was I? Interesting facts. I have an inheritance!” he gestures with open hands as if he ah ha moment, “I mean it’s not impressive. Like I am a prince or I have a castle. But it’s a bookstore. Books are cool. Uh Viral reads too.”
Viral: Tell them my favorite book

“He likes Arthurian Legend, Viral, that is,” this is going absolute flipside, “Oh I know Spider-Man!” idiot everyone knows Spider-Man, “I mean intimately.” now I sound like I am showboating, “he sends me text from time to time. Selfies.” shut up Micheal. Shut up, “Hahah.” Micheal pauses, swinging his hands around clapping pointing to the young lady in black, “And who are you? You ran up 93 stories, that’s impressive.”

Chie listened to Tony silently, quietly seething in her own festering frustrations. While the others had been introducing one another she tried her best to regain her composure, even as Ashe ignored the request to apologize and continued to be a nuisance, even as everyone disregarded the giant monster that was no longer towering over her. She just assumed this was normal in the world of super heroes. She would have to get use to it.

Micheal seemed nice, reminded her of Niel in his shy awkwardness. The others had yet to give her as intense of a first impression, though the kid and Melissa seemed nice enough. When Micheal brought the topic back to her, she was finally catching her breath. She seemed staggered anyone would even want to know about her, let alone ask directly, amongst this group she was rapidly becoming the most mundane member of this motley crew.
"Me? I said before, I am Shuriken." She responded vaguely. A stern look from Stark was enough to make her crumble, his speech hadn't been lost on her. Still it took her a moment to weigh her options. Did she really want the jail bait trickster to know her secret? Reluctantly, she decided to do as she was told. She had come this far, why stop over an uncomfortable question.
"But, uh, my real name is Chie. Chie Jordan, just don't go throwing that around. If my parents found out I was here they would ground me for life" She said sheepishly.
"She was an Agent of Shield, and some day I want to be one too! Not so sure how she'd feel about it though..." She admitted, and to her surprise it was a relief to get this all off her chest. Maybe Stark was right, these secrets were distracting her from getting close to the others.
"It's, uh, a pleasure to meet you all. Sorry I screamed at Viral earlier. If he can hear me, let him know I thought he was pretty impressive, hehehe" She relented, rubbing her nape bashfully. Nervous laughter followed suite, feeling their eyes on her made her feel how little she actually had to contribute.

"Um. Not a lot else to say. Just a girl fresh out of high school with a passion for kicking criminal butts. I ran cross country for school, that's how I managed to run the stairs" Her words made her physically cringe in regret. She sounded like she was trying to be cool and mysterious. In reality she wasn't sure there was anything impressive to boast about.
"What about you, Kid? We haven't let you speak up yet" She added quickly, in a desperate attempt to turn attention away from herself. She pointed towards Sai, the only 'kid' in the room.

Syaoran was confused.

This was usually the case when dealing with adults, but these adults seemed more confusing than those he usually consorted with.

The rainbow faded as the shield vanished. Ashe brought Melissa a coffee and then Melissa started talking about Star City. To be completely honest, Sai had tuned them out at that point. Large, soft violet eyes peered around the room.

Sai had grown up in a tower apartment, but not like that. Glass walls with panoramic views of the city – over the city to be precise – as the Stark Tower dominated the surrounding cityscape.

The boy’s hands had grabbed hold of the front of the t-shirt that he wore, tugging and twisting the fabric idly as the child’s mind tried to work through a doubt that seemed to be rising up from within him.

Ashe was a criminal. And the guy from the elevator was the Joker? Taking a second look at the four-armed alien, a question started to form in the boy’s mind. Were they all here because they’d done something bad?

The implication caused his heart to sink. Was that why his mum had been so eager to send him off like that?

Was he here because he’d done something bad?

L O N D O N
24 hours earlier

The tranquility of the school grounds was broken as the doors opened, releasing a horde of children clad in the same uniform out into the yard for a welcome respite between classes.

They were all between eleven and thirteen. Clad in a black jumper that had red piping, reflecting the colors of the logo embroidered on the chest. Some had their sleeves rolled back. Some girls wore skirts, others favored trousers. Some were light skinned, others dark, and quite a number of shades in between but they all looked like typical kids in a British school. No matter what qualities defined them, no one child seemed out of place.

Except one.

As he came out of the school, he might have looked ordinary enough. The sleeves of the white dress shirt worn beneath the jumper were rolled back on his arms. The bare skin caught the sunlight and almost seemed to shine. The golden complexion distinct from the other children. A black feather was stuck on the shoulder of the jumper he wore, having fallen from the shaggy plumage that framed the child’s head.

As he looked up, the violet irises – like his skin color – belied something that wasn’t human. The lines around his eyes gave him an appearance like guyliner, though the edges wrapped both above the eye onto the brow as well as down over the cheek. To the members of the extraterrestrial Shi’ar race, these marks told a story of genetic lineage.

To humanity, they told a different story.

Almost as soon as the boy had appeared, the ruckus began. From the other side of the black iron fence that marked the school ground, people littered around, pointing and jeering. Some held signs that read Isaiah 13:5 or 2 Corinthians 11:14.

They were a familiar sight. His entourage. When he’d been in the lower grades, the protestors had been positioned outside of that school. When he’d transferred to St. John the Evangelist Academy for Year 7, the protests had picked up and moved with him.

Pulling out a pair of noise canceling headphones, the feather-headed child flicked the switch on the side and immediately the chanting of the crowd was replaced by Greta Van Fleet. Another black feather fell away from the boy’s head, as he started to bop his head in time with the guitar rift resonating in his head.

Soft purple eyes scanned the yard, the boy walking toward where a group of boys was motioning him over. The trio were kicking around a football. Two even played on the school team. Syaoran didn’t, of course. He knew there were different opinions about kids with powers doing sports, but he didn’t want to hurt anyone. And when he got excited, he also got careless.

As he walked toward the three, the Shi’ar boy reached up to pull the headphones down so that they hung around his neck...

A few of his feathers bristled visibly. They were known as the pin feathers. The Shi’ar had an expression about them that closely mirrored the human phrase about hair standing up on the neck, but Syaoran couldn’t have said just what had caused it in that moment.

A girl’s squeal caused the boy to turn his head, which is when the blur of motion coming at him from the right caught his attention. Syaoran snapped a hand up, but was off balance and what was happening hadn’t yet sunk in.

He reached for the arm that was coming at him, realizing a moment too late that there was a knife.

To those watching, it might have appeared like Syaoran were Superman. A shimmer of light the only slight detail of the barrier that deflected the blade from stabbing the boy.

A moment later the knife fell to the ground. A shriek of pain pierced the air, stunning all of the children into silence as a pit formed in Syaoran’s stomach.

He’d only meant to grab the man’s arm.

The boy felt the bones beneath the skin shatter at his touch. The sound echoing in the boy’s ears as the man’s hand seemed to go limp, dropping the blade as the scream cut through the air...

+ - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - +

“Ghaaaaa!”

Mister Stark’s outburst snapped the boy back to the conversation in the room. His plumage seems to bounce slightly as the child’s head popped up, scanning the room as the adults started talking again. He got as far as Melissa mentioning Green Arrow before his attention wandered away again.

“Hi, this is my first AA meeting,” the one Ashe had referred to as the Joker remarked, with a snort-laugh that caught the boy’s attention, even if the joke itself didn’t land.

Tilting his head to one side, the boy’s expression belied his confusion as he asked, “What’s AA?” If it had something to do with their meeting, then should he know this? He should probably know this.

Then again, if Mister Stark was Iron Man, and if this really was some kind of superhero camp, then it might be Avengers Academy.

It was probably Avengers Academy. Now he felt dumb for asking.

If Sai were lost for most of the talk, Michael – or rather, Viral – had the boy’s rapt attention. “You’re an alien, too?” the boy uttered brightly. Hiro’s fanclub had officially disbanded. The Order of Viral Fanboys, Local 101, had formed in its place. For however long Sai’s attention span lasted this round. Cementing this momentous occasion, the British born Shi’ar gave an approving murmur that declared Michael/Viral “Cool.”

Chie was the next to go, after which the woman pointed at him and said, “What about you kid?”

“Huh?” The large, violet eyes swept up to glance at Chie. Or Shuriken. Or was it Jordan? Because wasn’t that also a given name?

“Oh, uh, I’m Sai,” the boy answered, giving the shortened version of his given name. “My mum’s from a planet called Chandilar,” he added, glancing over at Michael before he looked around the room with a shrug and said, “She’s the hero. I just go to school mostly.”

“Who’s your mom?” Chie asked, prompting the boy to look over at her. “Maybe our parents knew each other.”

“Cerise,” the boy supplied. Was that her code name? Did his mum have a code name? Really, it was just her name. Back to the topic at hand, the boy added, “She’s with Excalibur.”

Fuuuck. Nathaniel you idiot. Why would you joke about AA in front of Tony-Fucking-Stark? Good job you. In my defense I was nervous, oh great that’s my defense. Could you regulate your emotions just for once, maybe even for five minutes? Quit cycling and think like a functioning adult for half a second.

Breathing. Inhaling. Then exhaling. Think calm happy thoughts. Maybe you shouldn’t. They didn’t have enough time with Viral, but he seems like he’s going to be a pain in ass. A sentient brick if you will. Which is great when you want to break windows. Not so great when that sentient brick goes levitating and breaking windows with a will of its own. Especially when you’re trying to be stealthy. Hope, this Micheal guy has enough control over his sentient brick that it won’t break windows.

Only briefly turning his head to Chie as she introduces herself. He gives her a thumbs up every now and then. See she’s doing great. One of the crew. She’ll fit in nicely. Even if she doesn’t think so. Encouragement, encourage her Niel. See you’re already being normal. Good job. You. Okay maybe take that down a notch because it’s getting sickening.

Right. There is still that kid. How old is he? Like eleven?

That’s a bag of trauma waiting to be stuffed full of nightmares.

“What’s AA?”

This is a chance to redeem himself. He’d let the young man continue his introduction. Niel is your chance to sound serious and also like you haven’t lost your marbles. You think so me, because I am pretty sure the moment I kicked out an elevator control panel and threatened to sell it for parts, my marbles scattered everywhere.

“That’s so cool, Excalibur, like the sword,” Niel pipes up, “You wanted to know what AA is. I mean I really shouldn’t be the one to explain this. FIrst off, I’d like to declare that the joke was in poor taste. I see the error of my ways on that. Oops. No pun intended with the taste comment. Okay. I am overthinking the answer.” how do he explain this in a sensitive way, “You see when someone loves alcohol very much.” that sounds like sex, just roll with it by now, “they um - drink too much of it and can become violently self destructive and or environmentally deustrctive.” Looking at Tony Stark, “I mean that only in the factual sense, you, you are an admiration. Um. Anyway, AA is where they go to um heal from their extreme drinking.”

That could have gone a hell of a lot better.

Niel claps his hands and laughs nervously, he sounds slightly unhinged doing so, “Rooms. We all should be getting rooms, right? Unless we don’t. I could be wrong. When are we going to our rooms?”

Save me from burying myself a bigger grave.

Tony stood watching, laughing to himself. After all, he had seen something in each of their dossiers, but a dossier only says so much. Only a few of them had actual psych-profiles, the rest was guess-work based off of the cold hard facts of their past. Ashe was going to be a tough nut to crack, but so long as he could convince her that cracking was what will get her to her goal, he was confident in her rehabilitation.

"Trust me, you do not want that toothy oil-stain on you." He replied to her snarky comment about stealing Viral.

Songbird he was confident in her being something of a bedrock for the team. An already well-adjusted heroine and Clint was one of the only others he had let in on the scheme. He might need an alibi at some point and everyone knew if Clint was your alibi, it was for a damn good reason. The guy that knows everyone's secrets and everyone knows it, but nobody minds because he will take them to his grave. With any luck, she'd bring that same rock to the team.

"Unless you plan to turn this whole building into a new ocean, don't worry about the hot water. Personally, i hate showers. Always a bath man." He chimed in.

Niel was going to be difficult to crack. He had inherited his old mans bag-of-cats mind. Chaotic and if you stick a hand in there, it'd eat you alive. But he was smart and from everything he could tell, desperately trying to distance himself from the acid-spray-flowers and killer laughing gas crowd. The PERFECT candidate for this. His face scrunched a little as he had the enjoyable mental image of forever being able to hold it over Bruce's head that he had raised this kid to be a better tactical-genius than him. God dammit, Tony, you are petty... But damn that arrogant sonofabitch needed someone to knock his ass down a peg or 10. He was a little concerned about the AA remark, assuming at first that it was an attempt at a cleverly disguised jab at him, but then he saw the tell-tale panic on the kids face that he had made a funny that went wrong in his own mind. He gave Niel a stealthy thumbs up and a smile to try and reassure him.

"First step when you have a problem is to admit it. Along the way, you learn to accept it. Sometimes the problem can't go away, but with help from people around you, you can manage it. Speaking of which; Ground rule, no liquor in the tower. Capeesh?"

Michael and Viral were gonna be an odd pair, but he was hoping to get them more in synch. He had seen Symbiotic pairs work together in the past and he was confident that this one could be conformed into working the same.

"Any time you want to check out the library, feel free." He said "God knows kids don't read enough these days"

Shuriken was, surprisingly, one of the most difficult choices for Tony on this team. Naturally, he liked that she was already on the way to Superhero-dom. But she had strong ties to S.H.I.E.L.D. That could pose problems. Granted he had pull in S.H.I.E.L.D. but he also knew that the others also had it as well and... Well, he wasn't entirely sure that her mother wouldn't have put a tracking device on her. She seemed to be one of the only ones eager to speak up, so he was happy about that.

Luckily, she also segued into Sai. He had very little knowledge about his father, but Cerise, he had fought both against and alongside her. Earth and Shi'Ar had a complicated relationship, but her presence was one she was very much helping and whilst she was helping, Tony was more than happy to make her one of his trustee's. This uneasy relationship was also what was going to keep her from telling the rest of the League. And gosh darnit, that kid was cute as a button.

As Niel brought up the question of rooms, Tony nodded and stepped forward at that point "Speaking of which, i have something that might interest you-" He said, before grabbing thin-air and a swarm of holographic nanites appearing in it, before he pulled them down and threw a swarm of holographic nanites into each of their hands. As each of them looked down, they would see a little blue, nanite model of a room in their hands. Little drop-downs in the corner that gave seemingly limitless customization options. "Since you're all staying here, i thought you may want a little... Taste of home."

"How does this work?" T'Danel asked.

"You ever played The Sims?" He asked. T'Danel cocked his head to the side, like a dog, confused. "Gary's Mod...? Roblox...?" T'Danel's face didn't change. Tony sighed as he continued to walk around in a circle in the middle of them. "That is a small program, design your room however you want, the bots will put it all together for you however you want. "Desk, Computer, Beanbags, Stools, anything you want. Only hard no is a pool in the room. Let's just say there were... Unfortunate incidents in the testing phase and it's just easier to ban them."

T'Danel started to prod it a few different ways. He blinked, before quickly starting to watch his fingers dance and tap at the holo-grid at almost unfollowable speed as he quickly realized the system was very similar to Wakandan OS', he wasn't sure if his father had bought this off of them or if Tony had plagerized it from Wakanda. He slowly snuck around the room, leaning over the shoulder of Niel seeing what he was designing. Not intrusively or spying, more just... Curious what this soft-spoken, highly nervous one would build.

Chie was glad she had encorperated the kid into the conversation. It had been a bumpy start so far but with Ashe properly scorned by their coordinator and introductions out of the way she felt much better about among this ragtag group. The first thing she noted was that despite all the powers and personalities they were all just youngsters that were equally as unprepared for this situation.

Except for Melissa, she seemed as ready as Tony. So far Chie was making a mental note to listen to her, she seemed to only speak when it was important. Hearing Michael try to explain the symbiote inadequately had a disarming charm to it that put at ease. It was comforting to know there were people just as nervous as Niel and her.

The kid was an enigma, and try as she might Chie couldn't recall a songle time her mother mentioned Excaliber in her many stories. She use to cling to every detail of her mother's escapades as a child around Sai's age, and so was clear she wouldn't know this tike's mother.

Chie was lost in thought when the blue light illuminated her vacant stare. She snapped back to reality and tried her best to listen to Tony Stark like he was the math teacher. She had to look around and see the others touching the holographic screen to get the full picture.

"A taste of home..." she said out loud as the homesickness hit her all at once. She could have any room she wanted: a plasma tv, all the luxuries she could ever want. Still, the longer she toyed with the system the more her virtual room began to emulate the look of the room back in Gotham, minus the mess she always left. Once she recognized what she had made she stared at it for a moment in contemplation. This was suppose to be a new start, yet somehow no amount of couches and queen sized beds could match her old room. She did add to the bathroom though, having a full bath tub didn't sound like a bad idea.

When she was done the room she had built was covered in posters of all her favorite bands. Empty shelves where her trophies use to go made the room feel barren, as did the open floor that was only obstructed by a desk, wardrobe and her small single sized futon. A small, old box television sat on top of the wardrobe. She painted the walls purple, in her old room they had been pink and she quickly came to hate it. The hardwood floor wasn't as worn and rickety looking as her old one but it would suffice.

Letting out a sigh if releif she quickly chimed in when she had finished.
"Done! Might I say, it's a room for for a queen" she boasted in a jovial manner.

Hiro remained silent as most of the assembled youths bickered, petty issues being raised. Truth be told, Hiro had no idea what to do in this situation. In the past while working for SHIELD, any disputes between the young researchers were settled quickly by the senior overseers of the program. So this chaotic mess of powered individuals was something that bewildered Hiro.

But as Hiro waited silently, he noticed that the feathered kid was staring at him intently, almost with a look of adoration. Seeing as the kid appeared to be like eleven, Hiro assumed that he was interested in the power suit. Hiro did have to admit that it was pretty cool, though he didn’t agree with the Power Ranger comment. While a small child Hiro had watched Super Sentai, the original form of Power Rangers, back in his home in Japan, and always thought that the Iron Man armor was cooler.

It was then that Tony Stark interrupted the others, transforming into his Iron Man armor, and starting a round of introductions. The Prince of Wakanda then spoke, his thick accent reminding of a fellow researcher he knew at SHIELD who was from Wakanda. But that memory was interrupted by Mr. Stark giving a speech about the potential of the team, offering two of the more villainous teens the option of working together or off to jail.

Ashe then elected to not head back to prison, so she would work with the team. Next up was Songbird who immediately revealed that she had a villainous past, something which Hiro knew took courage. But the next person to speak, Nathaniel, also had villain parents. Except his were people that Hiro had heard of, the infamous Joker and Harley Quinn. Hiro had heard many scary stories of the pair, and even Robin didn’t like talking too much about them. But Hiro decided to be more cautious than fearful of the young man, as he did seem to want to be a hero.

Hiro was then amused by the apparent bickering that Michael was having with his symbiote. It wasn’t that strange for Hiro as he had researched an actual symbiote at SHIELD. Hiro thought it best to not mention this to Michael and Viral. This duo was followed up by Chie, or Shuriken if they were using their hero names. She mentioned that her mother was an agent of SHIELD. This interested Hiro as he too used to work for SHIELD. He made a mental note to ask her about it later.

Then the small child spoke, his attention now on Viral once he realized that he was an alien. Apparently he was also an alien, with a mother from Chandilar, which Hiro remembered was the throne world of the Shi’Ar Empire. Hiro wondered how Sai’s mother had chosen Earth of all the planets to come to, before learning that she was part of Excalibur, one of the many regional superhero teams around the world.

But as Hiro digested all this information, he realized that he hadn’t introduced himself. There was a brief silence as Hiro fidgeted on his feet, gripping hard on the helmet of his power suit. But eventually he found the words.

“Like I said, my name is Hiro, Hiro Okamura. Or Iron Lad if we are talking business, though I may still change that name. Anyways I was a youth researcher at SHIELD for several years, before being kidnapped by a future version of myself, the Avengers villain Kang. Basically he was taking me around the time line, trying to groom me into becoming him one day. But I eventually escaped, stealing this suit. But I kind of miscalculated my time jump and ended up three years in the future. At least it was three years for you guys, but one for me. I don’t know, time travel is weird. So the short of it is that I’m trying to become a hero to make sure I don’t grow up to be a supervillain,” Hiro stated quickly, speaking each thought as it came to his mind.

Tony Stark then began to speak again, forbidding alcohol at the tower. He then sent a swarm of nano machines at the assembled youths. Apparently they were supposed to design rooms for themselves at the tower. Hiro immediately jumped in, swiping the swarm as he designed the perfect room for him. He immediately decided that it had to be better than his quarters when he was working with SHIELD. Hiro started simple, painting the walls white with a wood floor. Next he added a queen sized bed, one much bigger than he had ever had before. Next up was a massive 4K TV mounted on the wall, situated right across from the bed. Hiro then added in all the newest video game consoles, as he had missed three years worth of games during his time with Kang.

Next Hiro added a large walk in closet, a basic dresser underneath the TV, and a bathroom with a shower in it, not bothering with a bathtub. The remaining wall space in the room was covered in shelfing that would function as a library. Manga and sci-fi novels had also progressed since Hiro disappeared, so he wanted to catch up. Content with his design, Hiro looked up at Mr. Stark.

“I’m assuming that these designs will be replicated by large nano machine swarms who will literally build up the rooms?” Hiro asked, “Because that would be amazing.”

Melissa listened to the rest of the introductions and didn't envy Stark what he had taken on with this group. A more disparate group of people she couldn't imagine and she knew it would take a lot of time and hard work for them to work together. With her experience working with the other heroes in Star City she wasn't worried about her own ability to work with this group but she didn't know if the same could be said for the others as some seemed particularly independent or a little...unstable. But she wasn't one to judge given her background she knew how hard their lives could be and how easy it was to fall off the rails.

She smiled at the others as they finished introducing themselves and then watched as they each began to play with the nanomachines that seemed to give them whatever they wanted. Melissa was a little unnerved by designing her own room but she figured she shouldn't have been surprised given this was Tony Stark. Hesitantly she reached out to her own swarm reminding herself that they were not bugs and weren't going to swarm all over her. After a few moments of experimentation, she realised that they were very user friendly and even a non-techhie like her could manage them. Being a visual thinker she closed her eyes for a moment as she pictured what her perfect room would look like and once she had the image firmly in her head she began to use the machines.

First the floor, she chose a white wood floor and then made the walls a deep red, her favourite colour. Next she added a large double bed with red and white bedding and lots of pillows. For other furniture she chose a wardrobe, a dressing table with large mirrors and a desk all in white wood. Plush red rugs added by the bed and dressing table added softness as well as comfort, she chose a red beanbag chair for the desk and another one for the dressing table. Shelves along one wall would hold her music books and matching shelves on another wall would hold her fictional book collection.

She added several fittings to the wall in between the wardrobe and desk where she would hang her guitars of which she had several. She liked collecting them as well as playing them. Satisfied she finished and turned back to Tony remembering she had something she needed to talk to him about.

"Were you able to do that upgrade we talked about?" Melissa had discussed the idea of having easier access to both her suit and harness. Tony looked at her and it was a look that clearly said. 'You know who I am right?' She smiled. "Sorry probably a stupid question."
"It wasn't exactly a challenge." He said pulling something out of his pocket. "I actually modelled it after my own earlier designs except that these contain nanotech which will make the suit materialise on you at will."

Melissa stared at him in surprise, she'd expected to have to carry or wear something that stored her suit but this was..."Damn that's awesome. You sir are a genius." She said with a grin, he chuckled but didn't bother to deny it since he actually was a bona fide genius.
