Here he is. Hope he doesn't overlap too much with everyone's ideas.

A work in progress but might as well post it now so others have an idea what I'm going for.

@Ryik I love the creativity of the idea. Its well thought out and looks like you have a good idea on his progression of powers. I can't think of any problems I would have with the sheet. Though I want clarification on how easily he can shift between his different, like can he do it whenever he wants to and is it instantaneous? Secondly, how large is his caterpillar form at the start of an RP?

Changing forms wasn't intended to take that long. He wouldn't be able to slip between forms like he's performing different moves in a combo of a fighting game, but it would only take a few seconds. The Werewolf and Vampire weaknesses in particular would be able to halt his transformations though. The legendary beast forms would probably take longer, though even then still only a dozen seconds or so.

First stage caterpillar is an actual mundane caterpillar, second stage is about the size of a large cat or medium-sized dog. I figure I'd skip the part where he goes around munching on leaves.

Also, I've realized I've neglected to clarify that his evolutions are supposed to be more like digimon rather than pokemon; he can go back to previous forms, though there usually isn't much incentive to do so besides unlocking other evolution paths

The only thing left that I can think of is, if i understand correctly and at the moment all he can be is just a really big caterpillar, how would he communicate with everyone?

He wouldn't, initially. He'd just be a big suspicious moth monster that keeps showing up, and could even be construed as a pest in need of extermination or a (very weird) pet to adopt.

The fact that combat experience can lead to evolutions is reason enough to hunt down villains, since there's not a lot of other morally sound avenues to pursue for that in a modern setting.

Fair enough. I can see the humor in a Caterpillar Of Unusual Size being stubbornly persistent in following the group around. I just was not sure if there was some mechanism for communication I missed or something.

I have made a few alien races and I think I might populate a little of the universe with them. They probably won't make much of an appearance in the RP and they would be 'unknown' to humans, but if you go with an alien character than they might know of them. especially if they are supposed to be space cops. I was thinking of using an individual from one of them as a plot device at some point in the story, if you want we could set up some knowledge of that for your character in a PM, perhaps it could help explain why they are on Earth in the first place.

Always happy to discuss stuff over PM and see where it goes for better fitting a character into the world. And I definitely was going to leverage some angle of on Earth because there's alien criminals or lost technology artifacts or similar there. Got to be a little more to it than just "I'm assigned to this sector." or "We're observing your civilization to see if you're ready to join the greater galactic stage, and are also concerned about all these people popping up with unnatural abilities not normally displayed by your species."

I'll see if I can think of some good weirdness for an alien civ or the like. Though "a bunch of machines" does definitely lead to a few obvious unusual mindsets or quirks. I can think of a few on either that level or a personal one already, but will likely need to put a bit more thought into things, too. Including just how obviously quirky and strange she should be. Probably, gong to maintain a secret identity and all that, rather than be obviously inhuman all the time. Both for standard superhero tropes and to do otherwise would defeat the purpose of being undercover in the first place.

The biggest thing I probably need to do is narrow down a power set, given I've tossed around about half a dozen ideas there. I've got time, of course. About all I can comment on there is I may not want to lean too hard on things like just being a sufficiently advanced android and thus made of sterner stuff. I'll also have to think of how to do limitations and a sense of progression, if we need it, though have a couple ideas there.

@Vega7285 feel free to shoot me a PM when you've got something to discuss or want help with nailing a concept down or figure out a way for your character to be involved with the world/plot.

Name: Arthur Pendragon

Superhero name: Arthur

Gender: M

Race: Human

Age: 18

Appearance:

Stands at 5'11
Has an ethereal blue handprint emblazoned over his left pectoral

Power: Knowledge of cantrips. Cantrips include, Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Minor healing, minor illusions (which he hates using because he considers it to be lying.)

Limitations: Arthur has little to no knowledge of how the modern world works. As well as that, he legally does not exist, making it impossible to find normal employment. He also has hydrophobia due to childhood trauma.

Skills/Talents: Trained in swordplay and archery. Know's the general basics of sewing, hunting/tracking, wilderness survival, horse riding, and alchemy (medicinal not magical)

Background/bio: Arthur was born during a time of war, to a single mother. His early youth spent growing up around the brothel his mother worked for. Born the bastard of a whore, the folk of the land looked down on Arthur, treating him like a pest more then a person. These formative years went a long way to teach Arthur about respect and honor. Alas his time with his mother would be cut short by the invasion of the Saxon forces. As war and turmoil spread rapidly across the land his mother knew she would not be able to protect her boy. But her prayers would be answered with the arrival of a stranger.

He said his name was Merlin, and that he had come in search of a child destined to save the land. That boy, of course, being Arthur. At the age of 9 he left home to begin his training. Over the next eight years, Arthur would be taught the importance of morality and compassion, and under Merlin's tutelage he would learn the way of the sword. As Arthur grew, so did his talents, even showing an aptitude for magic and science. This would push Merlin to increase his training, knowing the knowledge he instilled in the boy would one day be used for the people.

As the day of reckoning drew near, Merlin knew Arthur was not yet ready to take his place as savior of the people, so he enacted a new plan. Calling upon the forbidden arcane art of temporal magic, Merlin ripped a whole in the very fabric of space and time. With one final word of wisdom Merlin cast Arthur forward through time into the distant future where, with any luck, he would mature into the man his kingdom needed him to be.

Now all alone, in a foreign land full of corruption and hate, Arthur must follow his heart if he is to ever return home.

Random question that I figured would be useful to ask here, but what city will play host to this RP?

@The Forgotten looks good.

@Abstract Proxy Grailham City. It is one of the largest cities on Earth and has been a popular spot for villains and heroes to emerge and fight, whether they originate from the city or travel from afar, for much of its existence and has earned it the nickname 'The Crucible' by some of the locals. It also boasts a GDP greater than many small countries combined. I have not pinned down an exact location on Earth so local environment/weather can change somewhat depending on need of the plot but it is safe to assume somewhere in North America with access to the ocean.

And even if Random question, I have no problem with answering them if any more come up.

All i can say is thank god they aren't on an island. That would be a nightmare for Arthur.

@Ryik just a side question about your transformations. Are they painless like in teen wolf? Or is it more like werewolf in London esc with cracking bones and tearing skin? I only ask because it would absolutely effect the way Arthur looks at him.

@The Forgotten You've reminded me of yet another aspect I should add to his character sheet; being in his Werewolf form on the night of a full moon.

Anyway, his transformation ability would be painless, but his Werewolf form (as well as his Vampire form) comes with a transformation-within-a-transformation. Going from Werewolf (human) to Werewolf (wolf) wouldn't be painless, though I wouldn't say it's quite as torturously agonizing as that.

@Crow no worries, still working on the OOC anyways.

I apologize for the wait, I got a bit of other stuff on my plate and I generally overthink things too much that makes these things take a while. Got a long shift at work ahead then a lot of time on saturday/sunday.

So I figured id gauge everyone's opinions on this because I don't want to improperly rp this. Considering we live in a world of hero's and villains, how would you guys react to seeing a young man in full plate mail, brandishing a sword, and speaking in old english? And more importantly how would common folk react to that?

I'm just curious because from what I've seen we have a pretty diverse cast of characters and I really want to be able get into the world and it's inhabitants. After all, his mission is to learn from the people how best rule over and protect a kingdom and its peoples.
