Apollo looked like he was completely dead, but the magic around him and his kingdom was strong enough to keep everything frozen in time. Vines had already taken care of the castle walls but the prince's skin was immaculate. Not a scar or cut could be found anywhere on him. He was breathing deeply; his eyes were closed as he slept peacefully in one of the most beautiful places you could find in an entire realm. His body was almost entirely covered with snow, as the spell was cast in the winter, but it never melt. Not even after more than 28 summers. His face, though, was still exposed. The flower that his mother, queen Clarissa, had placed in his hair moments before she was killed by the evil Malevolent was still as pink as it was the moment she took it off of its vine.

The wizard stated in his spell: "While the prince will indeed grow in grace and beauty, he will be cursed. When the sun sets on his 22nd birthday, he will prick his finger on a spindle of a spinning wheel and fall into eternal sleep. Only a kiss of pure love can break this curse."

Phillip was about to be crowned king, as his old father had just died from a heart attack. He decided to go for o ride on his best horse to clear his mind. He wandered so much that ended up entering a forest he had never seen before. There was snow in it, even though it was spring. A few hours into his riding, he came across the Sleeping Beauty. He had to see it for himself; he had heard stories, but never saw the creature up close. Phillip reached out his hand to brush the boy's cheek but stopped midway. He wasn't sure if he was allowed to touch such an ancient being.
