While this RP doesn't take itself seriously, we're gonna need a little here to make sure we're all on the same page. We do this, we all get to have wacky, fun characters and go for a thrill ride. Post length is expected to be Casual to Advanced- no one or two line posts, please. This means at minimum two paragraphs in a post- three being optimum to really flesh out your character's response and furthering of the plot. Follow Wheaton's Law at all times. Don't be a dick- GM is God, and while this RP is very fast and loose, if you're asked to bring something into line, expect there might be good reason for it.

This RP will have adult themes, and romance is a part of that if you want it to be- however, nothing that the Gods of RPG wouldn't want on the public side when smut is concerned. If you want to go beyond, that shit goes off this RP into 1x1 if it is 18+ in any manner. Before that though, be my guest.

All characters are part of the military unit mentioned in the blurb above. No bad guys, no mercs, no foreign characters. This is to make things easier and more straightforward, and to keep internal consistency.

Don't talk down to people. I don't care how much knowledge of real-world weapons and systems you might have, or how much of an encyclopedia on legs you are about such things. This is my world, and it works how I want it to. If you're trying to be a smartarse because you've found a 'loophole', then you're not playing in the spirit of things, and you should probably leave. That's even with an admittedly loose playbook.

If I don't know about it, then it doesn't exist. You may have this amazing secret plot worked out for your character - but if you don't tell me about it, then it ain't happening. Because I've already got a storyline worked out, and if it doesn't fit, then it's not going in. Same with technology and whatever you 'think' it should be like- I am open to ideas, but tell me if you think it's something that makes you say "That might be too far out there".

This is a near-future setting, and as such, isn't madly fantastical. Sure, mechs, exoskeletons and cloaking may be a thing, but there isn't interdimensional travel, let alone even interplanetary travel. No aliens, no anime, no high-school dramas either. There is no magic or supernatural content. Please respect the setting and keep it in mind- there's plenty of ridiculous and cool shit on offer, so play with that here- keep the other material to other RPs.

GM's word is final. I appreciate people wanting to help, but final approval for plot, lore, and characters comes from me. Though, by all means, please feel free to make suggestions and help others with ideas and information where possible, and point out if something isn't there or working when it should be, because that helps us all.

Here's how it works. The RP functions around approximately six characters (can be more or less!)- and focusses upon the team having different skills and specialities, as well as entirely different approaches to combat. While there's three main classes, within those their playstyle may be completely different- and may bring a very unique ability that is class-defying. Each character can also have a path to upgrades- after each operation, they are able to use new technologies, experimentally given out to help them get a further edge.

While I'm not someone to put into place strict rules, I'd prefer two of each in each class and a male and female in each class to really help the flavour of the RP gel (we can't have all infiltrators and snipers!), as well as a bit more variety in origins- but will happily accept anyone who has an interesting idea and can make it work, irrespective. This isn't all prescriptive- they're put in as ideas and to start of the process of what the team might look like. Classes can also meld a bit- Medium characters can sometimes aim to go for lighter loadouts, or Heavies may choose to go for close-quarters arrangements over heavier weaponry. If a slot is taken, please try and fill another one (or post below if you have an idea that you'd like to use!)

"Light" or "Infiltrator" Characters

Stealthy types, sharpshooter types, all-round silent assassins, here ye be.

These characters are all relatively unarmored, unable to stand up to much in a firefight- often only coming to that as a necessity. But they have ludicrous amounts of mobility and are able to provide support and some assault help in different ways from different perspectives- they're snipers, infiltrators, hackers and parkour specialists- with these characters often being the masters of stealth thanks to their talent and optical cloaking. They're agile, often more than not to almost cat-like levels of speed, freedom of movement using various tech such as grappling hooks to wall-adhesive gloves, wingsuits and ropes- and are capable in CQC thanks to Krav Maga or other fighting styles. They're potent at working on their own, but as a part of a wider team, add an enhanced intelligence and support function.

Think Sam Fisher, or Black Widow, or something down that line.

They often work as good sabotage experts too, working in the shadows of the main team's work- and have the widest range of infiltration and exfiltration equipment, often the most exotic of the bunch. They're the lone wolves of the team, but they can make the enemy look twice before they get hit.

"Medium" or "Assault" Characters

The Swiss Army Knives of the team look here. For those who want a slice of everything.

Characters who are well armored, able to take a few rounds, but not like the "Heavy" characters- they are a comfortable in between. They form the assault element of fire- and they offer a lot of versatility through carrying a lightweight exoskeleton- using jump-packs to double jump, wall run and basically throw themselves up into positions that often none of the team could, allowing them to hammer fire from pretty much any angle using slightly heavier weapons than a typical SOF operator would use- be that LMGs, automatic shotguns, MGLs and high-capacity SMGs. If they forego that, often they make up for it with a different unique ability that is firepower or defence-focussed. They're real jack of trades, and often bring a bit more to the fight, with significant room to specialise and deliver a unique talent that no class can really pin down. Put short, an Assault character isn't a bland choice- they literally will do everything, from the quieter work to the all-guns blazing firefights, but they're not the best at either spectrum. But add speed and firepower together and you get a package that can usually make any situation work.

The closest comparison one can think of are the "Pilots" from the Titanfall universe- a perfect blend of fast and hard-hitting in a hot firefight. They're nowhere near as agile as the lights, but offer a lot more momentum- allowing them to flank and provide fire from any angle. They also have special abilities of their own that neither class has- be that the deployment of a personal protective bubble, a personal drone, or anything else that pertains to the fact that they carry a bit more into the fight than a typical operator would.

"Heavy" or "Juggernaut" Characters

Lots of firepower, brute force, big explosions. No less sophisticated than the rest of the team but just a lot louder, Heavies are for those who just want to blow shit up and get blown up.

These characters are giants. Literally, they're commonly over seven foot and immensely tall, strong, and able to basically punch through anything they want. People, walls, armour, anything. And that's without their heavy armour! In their super-heavy armor clad in head to toe with Trophy Systems to boot, are nigh on impossible to take out with most munitions- which means that more often than not, they're the centre of attention, the guy or girl turning up fire to the next level, and Raven Squad has TWO OF THEM. They're a Boss Battle for real, and you bet they enjoy that ego trip. Even up close, they're often absolute beasts in CQC without weaponry- often carrying melee weapons like an axe or a mace to club people they can't get with any of the plethora of weapons they carry. While a light might make that work through silently picking people off, a heavy will make those people shit themselves- one-on-ten, you probably can't win that fight unless you're very specially skilled and that is exactly how they work. After all, a heavy isn't often stupid if they've made it into Raven Squad- they're often far smarter than you think. The Mountain from Game of Thrones? Nah, this giant can do much, much more, they're Knights of the warzone.

Think almost the Juggernauts from MW2, or well, the Heavy from TF2, with a lot more armour and a lot more versatility.

They use heavy weaponry and carry even more support weaponry that puts them almost on the level with a mini-mech- from miniguns to automatic grenade launchers, flamethrowers to prototype electric or laser-based weaponry, or SMGs, heavy pistols, and all sorts of exotic secondary weapons that allows them to take on a wide variety of foes- specialising in AT on top of their usual anti-personel usage. For them, might is right- and bar much, they are incredibly difficult to counter. They're killable all right, but it takes a lot. They do suffer from the least versatility in infiltrations and their sheer size and operations weight means that they often need special methods of insertion. But do you think that they don't make a big deal about it? Not when they're the boss battles of the warzone.

Name: Xander Clarke

Age: 28

Appearance:
When picturing what a special ops counter terrorist operator would look like, Xan is usually not what most expect. Cursed to be just under 6 feet, Xan is one of the shorter members at 5’11” . While he is not exactly bulging with muscle, his training does keep him toned and fit. When next to the other members of Raven Squad, however, Xan looks to be a stick. As such he doesn’t feel the need to “show off”, opting to wear long sleeved V necks or dress shirts and jeans as his casual wear.

Being more of an indoors person, his pale skin lacks any sort of tan. Not that he would really get one anyway with all the gear he usually wears. His sandy blonde hair is kept short and spiked forward with the sides buzzed. Easy to maintain and not a heart break if it gets ruined by his helmet. Below his foggy blue/gray eyes, he styles his facial hair in an anchor beard. Another combination of style and practicality.

The first words out of Xan’s mouth exposes the origins of this Aussie, as he uses Australian slang and makes no attempt to hide his rather thick accent.

Skills:
IT: Xan is a tech junkie. He can repair and dismantle all manner of devices, vehicles, weapons, really anything that has parts and wires. His knowledge of both hardware and software is extensive, and he is prone to use that knowledge for the benefit of his team. Well. Most of the time. He has even developed his own special programs to use on the fly, but we’ll get to those a bit later.

I’ll drive: From dune buggies, to military jets, and even the more advanced mechs, Xan knows or can quickly learn how to pilot them all. He doesn't even need to be at the helm, as Xan has been known to take control remotely if a stubborn tango (or a friendly) refuses to get out of the driver's seat.

Sleight of hand: Years of experience has taught Xan that every second matters when it comes to an operation. Fumbling to reload or put away his gun could waste precious time, and inversely at any moment be forced to drop whatever he's working on and draw his weapon. As such he has practiced these actions over and over again until he could reload at record speed, and fluidly pull out and put away his equipment in the blink of an eye.

One step ahead: Though at times he may seem spontaneous and random, Xan is very methodical in the actions he takes. Though he can’t predict the future or see every possible outcome, he is extremely observant. There are patterns in everything and he will follow them to anticipate what is about to happen and be prepared to react accordingly. This is one reason why he keeps such a versatile assortment of gear on hand, so that none of his options are restricted when the time comes.

History:
The early years of Xander’s life were, uneventful to say the least. He was born in Perth as the youngest of 3 and the son of an accountant and doctor. It was in those years that he learned he had a knack for technology. He would build all sorts of small gizmos and contraptions, eventually learning how to add circuitry and chips that he could code to run specific functions. Unfortunately, his genius did not come with discipline. Many of his creations were crafted and used for the sole purpose of messing with his siblings or disrupting school lectures. Wanting to combat his mischievous nature, but also nurture his gift, his parents decided the best course of action was to enroll him in the Australian Defense Force Academy.

From day one Xan excelled at the ADFA. His studies focused on computer and cyber security along with engineering, further enhancing his technological abilities. While he still had issues following all the rules and obeying his COs, it was found that he thrived in a military structured environment. Running drills, learning military tactics and strategies, having clear goals, and working with others to accomplish those goals really gave Xan a great sense of purpose. He especially loved the more high stress drills and training as they really pushed and challenged him both physically and mentally. After graduating from the ADFA, Xan immediately joined the Australian Army as an infantryman. Though many protested this, saying his mind and skills would be better suited in R&D or military intelligence, Xan was adamant that he be placed in the action and not behind some desk or in a lab.

It came at no surprise that due to his abilities in the field, Xan was given the chance to join the SASR rather early into his military career. From there he played key parts in many classified operations. That alone may have been enough for him to be considered for the most elite team on the planet, but it was his performance during a more recent mission that made him known.

Xan's squad had been deployed to raid a warehouse confirmed to contain illegal weapon shipments. It was supposed to be a textbook raid. Surround the building, go in fast, and catch them with their pants down. It wasn’t until they began breaching that they learned what nightmare they had stumbled into. The weapons belonged to Black Flag, and they weren't about to give them up. The SASR were not only outnumbered, but also out classed in terms of equipment. In minutes more than half the squad was wiped, and the mission changed from securing the weapons, to escape.

Cornered and Desperate to at least get him and his men out alive, Xan changed up his strategy. He knew his team was better trained than these guys, they just had to find a way to eliminate the enemies technical advantage and level the playing field. Using just his cell phone, Xan was able to breach Black Flag’s network, scramble their communications, and turn any security system against them. From there it was a matter of moving swiftly and strategically to take advantage of the chaos. In the end, despite all the odds against them and the heavy losses they incurred, the remaining SASR not only survived, but emerged victorious.

It wasn’t long after that Xan was contacted by the Oracle with an offer to join Raven Squad.

Personality: A beer in his hand, a smirk on his face, and a quip on his tongue, Xan is an overconfident jokester. In nearly all situations he will be making comments and “clever” observations that others may also find humorous, but usually earn him eye rolls and dirty looks. Xan doesn’t mind this as he’s accepted his position as the team jester.

In addition to his comedic antics, Xan rarely doesn’t have some sort of scheme going on or a prank he’s planning to pull on his comrades. All in good fun of course. He would never try anything that would jeopardize a mission or put someone in harm's way. Only stuff around the base to shake things up. In a way, it also keeps his skills sharp, as most of what he does in action could be viewed as “pranking” or “tricking” the enemy. And for those seeking revenge, he takes all retaliation in stride as he’s well aware that what comes around, goes around.

His cockyness does not stay at home, either. Even on the most critical missions, Xan will be cracking jokes and making light of dire situations. Some might interpret this as Xan not caring, that he doesn’t take his job seriously. In reality, it’s simply another tool in his arsenal. If he keeps things light, it helps his team not crack under the pressure of it all. And if he acts like he’s always one step ahead, his enemies might start second guessing their next move and start to make mistakes.



On the surface, Xan’s Tac Suit would seem to be the standard issue exoskeleton with his default choice in clothing being the urban camouflage. While it does still offer the same benefits of enhanced movement, protection from most common firearms, and even increased strength, Xan has also added a number of his own modifications to his suit. Most of them have been approved for field use, some are features he may or may not have gotten cleared.

HUD: Helmet visor displays a myriad of information Xan needs to keep tabs on during a mission such as battery life of both suit and all his equipment, progress of any programs running on his tablet, and status of The Dingo.

Amplification: Boosts his tablet, allowing it to have a much greater range and signal strength through most surfaces.

Aim assist: No, the suit doesn’t auto target or track enemies. Instead it is able to detect faint movements in Xan’s arms and steady them. Allowing his accuracy to remain high even under extreme stress and even counter some of his weapon’s recoil.

Lober: Left shoulder mounted grenade launcher. Simply load with whatever grenade or can of beer that needs to be sent farther than you can toss it, aim, then watch it go.

Tactical Tablet: Xan carriers with him a specialized tablet loaded up with dozens of programs, viruses, malware, everything he needs to break through an enemy firewall or create a backdoor into their systems. All he needs is to crack a network password or even directly connect to the right device. From there he can download any data needed, take control of anything linked to that network, basically become a nightmare for anything relying on tech. Simultaneously, he can use them to keep hostile cyberattacks at bay preventing unwanted intrusions entirely or hitting them with the metaphorical Uno reverse.

Once a program has been launched, the tablet clips securely onto Xan’s left arm, offering an extremely convenient way for him to carry it while it can both recharge and continue whatever upload or download was initiated. The tablet itself is lined in a bullet proof case, providing even more protection in the event Xan drops it. Oh, and from being shot, I guess.

The Dingo: Secured to Xan’s lower back is what appears to be a large carrying case, but in reality is an advanced portable sentry gun. It can be deployed and retracted in a matter of seconds for quick use and repositioning. When active, it uses state of the art motion and thermal sensors to identify and lock on to a target almost instantly. It will then have a short delay as it waits for a signal from the friendly chip, a microchip Xan made sure was wired into every tactical suit on Raven Squad that tells the sentry “No. Bad dog.” If it does not receive this signal, whatever it is aiming at will be sent sixteen 7.62mm rounds per second until the target stops moving. Xan can also control the sentry remotely with his tablet.

Warning! It is not recommended to use The Dingo auto target mode while in a situation where civilians or non Raven Squad personnel are involved. They are not equipped with the friendly chip and The Dingo does not like strangers.

Mateo has a small scar on the palm of his right hand and another on his chest near his left bicep. This one clearly a bullet hole scar. Along with a tattoo on his right shoulder.

Skills: Close Quarter Combat Specialist - Combined with what his father taught him and what he was trained as a spy. Mateo is a skilled fighter in close quarters.

Parkour Expert - Being trained in Parkour to rapidly move through urban areas to track or chase down a target. Mateo was a natural at it and few things can stop him once he gets into his groove.

Explosive Specialist - Being trained to handle different explosives with the intent to sabotage enemy targets and knowing the best explosive for the job at hand.

Sniper - Trained to use sniper rifles to kill targets from afar, Mateo has proved to be an excellent shot and can act as a spotter if needed.

Hacking Expert- In the increasing cyberized world, hacking has proved to be an essential skill for an agent to have. Having been taught how to hack most devices and being able to hack electronic devices either remotely or in person using his own gear.

History: Born the single child of a college professor and former AFEUR operator. Growing up, Mateo was always curious about his father's life in the military. But, he was always met with the same answer, no, and after a while, Mateo would stop asking. The only answer he would get other than no is that he does not want to talk about it and asked Mateo to never join the military. A request that Mateo took seriously as he loved his father and would grow close to his father. Who would teach Mateo how to fight both with a gun and with his fist.

Up to this point, Mateo's life had been good and uneventful despite the Colombian conflict reigniting some years earlier. This changed when he was sixteen for one night. Their home was unexpectedly invaded by a group of armed men who would shoot the family. Killing both of his parents but, Mateo would survive barely as the men thought that he was dead. Mateo would hear some of what the men said before passing out. One name was mentioned was Thiago Tejedor. The man who personally shot his parents.

The gunfire would alert his neighbors, and one of them would call the police, and they arrived on the scene soon after. They would find Mateo and his parent's bodies. Calling for an ambulance and Mateo would survive. As he was recovering in the hospital, and after telling the police what he heard the armed men say. It turned out that Thiago Tejedor is the wanted leader of the Tejedor Cartel. Who took control of the cartel after his brother was killed by a squad of Colombian AFEUR operators. The same squad that his father used to belong to.

After hearing about this and being sent to live with his grandparents. Mateo would try to get revenge on Thiago Tejedor. After graduating high school, Mateo would enroll at a local university in criminology, and he was noticed by the DNI. The main intelligence agency of Colombia and seeing this was a chance to better find Thiago. Mateo agreed to join the DNI and was trained as an agent. Learning CQC, firearms, surveillance, and more.

Being sent on several missions and after five years in the agency. Became one of the agency's best. However, Mateo would have had some suspicions about the agency in the past few years. Some inconsistencies he had noticed and some questionable missions he had heard about. He would start digging and would learn the truth when an unknown whistleblower would reveal that the DNI were corrupt and guilty of several crimes, such as working with several rebel groups.

Mateo would be surprised by how bad the crimes were and how they were able to keep it hidden from him for so long. Mentally kicking himself for not finding out sooner and would be disgusted by this. More so when he learned that they were hindering his progress of finding Thiago since he was a cartel that worked with them. Luckily Mateo was clear of any wrongdoings and would quit the DNI after the scandal. Now an ex-agent, Mateo what skills he had to support himself by being a free agent. While using what assets and connections he had to track down Tejedor, who at this point had left the country. It was during this point in Mateo's life that he had been approached by Raven Squad and would accept their offer to join them. While he would be committed to the group's goal. Mateo, in what free time he has, still is trying to find Tejedor and get his revenge.

Personality: Mateo can be described as friendly though at times distant and hard on himself for some failures he has done in his life. Mateo regardless of what thinks of him due to being a former spy. He has strong morals that he got from his father. Which at times has had some problems with his job in regards to torture as something he does not want to do but, if there are no options. He will do it but, will not enjoy it. Otherwise, he is one to help someone in need and despite his goal of finding his parents' killer. Mateo can find time to relax and enjoy life. After his time with the DNI, and despite the noble goal that the Raven Squad has. Mateo has become cautious about his new employers as he does not want to get duped again. So while he will do missions and talk with his fellow teammates, he will be watchful if Raven Squad turns out to be something else.

Or adaptive camouflage armour. The ACR has two ways to camouflage its wearer. One by using optical cloaking to cloak the wearer or if the cloaking fails. It is able to change the camouflage patterns on the armor to fit with its surroundings. Along with having light armor to protect the wearer in case of the wearer gets exposed and shot at. Plus, capable of monitoring the wearer's vitals, embedded comms, night and thermal vision.

Broad shouldered, powerfully muscled from head to toe. It's all meant for power and strength rather then body building, though if he wanted too he could put some of those sculpted fellas to shame. A head og long dark tresses shower down his back, reminiscent of his dear father, but he keeps his up in a top knot, or tucked up into the back of his helmet depending on the situation. Piercing grey eyes with flecks of bronze lookout around him, and naturally leather toned skin. Callused hands used to work, with the cuts and slashes and gashes on them that denote someone who works with tools and blades regularly.

Natural Strength - Brought up by two people who prized their ability of natural strength, Jamie is no different, his lifting ability is incredible, he can toss 300+ pounds over his head with relative ease, carrying heavy loads by hand easily.

It All Rubbed off - Determination, Strength, Loyalty and Perseverance have been drummed into him by his parents and Uncles from Blue Sword. He will never give up no matter the situation.

Heavy Weapon Handling - And we're not talking SAWs or grenade launchers, though those have their place. We're talking things like the M134 and the GAU-19 which he can handle with relative ease really.

Trained Hard - A style of Karate, Brazilian jiu jitsu, though he doesn't favor it, his mother taught him swords, his father taught him the gunstock club. If need be he wouldn't need a gun to put down an enemy.

History:

You ever hear the saying, "It's interesting growing up under the wing of a dragon"? Well Jamie did that and more. He grew up under the wings of two Dragons. Two of the names that brought the idea of special outfits like Raven, and Scimitar into being. Not only that he was trained by two of the original Heavy Juggernauts themselves when they joined the Dragon's side. A pair of dragons and a pair of Drakes. Standing side by side.

The outfit before this, Blue Sword, run out of Perth, Australia. One of the premier Private Mercenary Companies in the world, the CO before the Dragons came in is lost ot history overshadowed now by the Dragons. Who are they? Victor Kanatariio and Natalie Kanatariio nee Denisova. And the Drakes? Carl Cardinal and Ross Henderson, the two original Juggernauts that the American army fielded some almost 30 years ago now.

It was into this that Jamie was born, under the wings of Dragons and Drakes. Trained with his sisters, and in the art of combat by some of the best, and alognsome of the best.

But as time went on, Blue Sword atleast for Jamie kind of grew old. So he went to his commanding officers his parents, and uncles and presented an idea. he wanted to see how other outfits worked. Compare them to Blue Sword, learn new skills. The quartet working so close knew tons about all manner of outfits forming. And they did some politicking. Got in contact with people they knew. And had Jamie made known to the newly formed Raven. And soon he was on a plane to the new base to meet the new crew. A crew that didn't know much about his past and wouldn't treat him like the son of legends.

Personality: Jamie happens to be quite well socialized. A jolly, kind and happy young man. Has quite a dirty mouth on him which just stems from the fact he grew up around mercenaries. A story is, one of his first words was, "FUBAR!" followed a few days later by "Fuck!" Which caused his father to laugh for 7 minutes straight. His mother was torn between tanning the hide of the merc that taught him that, smacking his dad, or laughing along. On the field he's business first, but has been known to crack a pun or add a witty limerick here and there.

Tactical Suit:



A derivative suit created under the picky eyes of his parents. The Son of Brutal is a powered armor that gives near full protection except for some weaker joints and the power pack on the back of the suit. A combination of ceramic plates, armored alloys and spacing allows the armor to survive up to 40mm rounds. Though some Anti Material rounds give it a hard time. Nor can it stand up to sustained punishment. But luckily it's power supply can be shunted into allowing Jamie to run at high speeds then normal to get out of sustained fire.

Weapons:

Main Armament - A Linked pair of FN Browning M.1939 heavy machine guns, belt fed and air cooled as normal. Both barrels of the guns fire when the trigger is pulled. They are quite light when held with the armor.

Secondary Armament - A VEPR-12 automatic shotgun for when he has to fend off enemies as a closer range.

Support gear - A shoulder mounted rocket pod holding 12 mini-rockets, first used by his father. And have since been upgraded. Mini smart munitions that will use a HUD based lock on system that then track their targets in a FnF fashion.

Equipment:

Reload canisters for the rocket pods. He'll tend to carry 3 of them, stowed right beside the pod on his right shoulder so an auto loader will slot new rockets in after the pod has been emptied.

Smoke, flash and other types of disturbance grenades and ordnance, that will allow him to move to his objective without too much interference. And allow him to support the lighter operatives to move as well.

Ammo for his Shotguns and a second hopper of ammo for the twin linked HMGs.

Hobbies:

Woodworking - Jamie is what was once known as a Turner, or a wood worker. He's good with his hands, and has made his parents work desks and his uncles desks as well by hand. He's often commissioned by military personnel to put desks or other items together for them.

Strength Events - Blame his dad who was the WSM champion several years running. Jamie doesn't go that hard, but he's won a few Strong Man Championships in the past.

Ritual and Rite - He got into the First Nations dance circuit and takes part in the Sun dance, Horse dance and ghost dance regularly.

He is more comfortable with formality than most other people. His shoes however are usually some brand of running shoes as they generally offer better arch support and air cushion.

Tactical Flexibility: Brazen is the team linebacker, he is a generalist. He tries to be anything he's needed to be and can attempt most skills with above average success. He is the natural choice for a second in command. He doesn't lack for a specialism though, his specialism is tactically flexibility and being a great advisor to others. Indeed his sage advice can improve other operators by shoring up areas that are weaker or ignored making them more well-rounded or allowing them to improve in an area where they already excel.

Mountain Climber: Brazens’ favourite past time is solitary and group mountain climbing and it is this ability which marks him out as an operator. He’s been up at-least 30 mountains all over native Britain and managed to climb Matterhorn on his first attempt.

Tortured: While completing a tracking mission in Karachi; Pakistan, as a field agent for British Military Intelligence. Brazen was cornered and captured by a breakaway cult from Islamic fundamentalists. As the weeks passed by as British Intelligence tried to trace his location, he was tortured repeatedly with a variety of means. Brazen was forced to dig deep and to keep finding reasons to go on living. What came out of this is a high tolerance for pain, an unshakable faith in his right to survive and a toughness that can shrug off injuries that would stop most people.

Special Ability: Ability Improvement

Once per scene Brazen can coordinate his attacks and the flow of battle to bolster one other members abilities perfectly. He does this by memorising their abilities from working with them. (That Squad member can use their special ability twice this scene instead of once, or they can use it to a far greater strength or duration. If applied to a group of NPCs they can instead improve their abilities to equal that of a PC for this scene.)

History:

Greyson grew up in London. His family having lost their thick Scottish accents generations ago he instead enjoys the best of both worlds. A level head and a metropolitan lifestyle.

Throughout his entire school life Greyson was bullied. In fact he hates a bully. He would even stick up for other kids. He wasnt strong back then but would still pitch himself against much bigger kids, sometimes in the year groups above him. He would routinely find himself getting into scrapes that would continue week after week for rematches. He was also the subject of intellectual bullying, as, instead of sticking up for the bullied kids, some of the teachers would instead join in to preserve the status quo. This prepared him well for what was to come.

Straight out of school he enrolled with the British Army and cut his teeth with the mechanised warfare devision as a rifleman. His potential as a commissioned officer was quickly recognised and he was financed by the British Army to get his degree from Chartered University London, he specialised in International Law. From then on he was recruited in to British Military Intelligence and served in a number of hotspots and flashpoints. Eventually he was brought in to support fire teams as an attache and eventually received some training from the best of the best in the SAS.

After a botched mission led to him being tortured he returned to the UK for convalescence at a christian monastery of all things, generously paid for by the government. He had time to think over what mattered to him most. As it turned out, it was protecting freedom. He decided to change careers, and worked as a bodyguard for Prince Charles, succeeding in foiling an assassination attempt by an extremest cult related to the one that he had been captured by so long ago. For this achievement and concerning his prior history he was awarded an MBE.

After that he went back into Military Intelligence but was given access to more and more bespoke and experimental equipment. Becoming one of the chosen for the TALBOT program he was given access to experimental British exo-suit technology, which is when he garnered the interest of Oracle. He was sent to complete solo missions in deniable ops. After only a few of these he was approached by Raven Squad.

Personality: Pragmatic but idealistic. Unlike many in his business who only ever see reason in the essential needs of today, Greysons experiences have led him to rediscover his idealism. Out of the two, idealism still calls for improvement of a situation, rather than just accepting the cards you're given as pragmatism does. "To be frank; even pragmatism has its limitations."

Tactical Suit:


The suit has advanced armour; capable of stopping several strikes from a 7.62x51 at close range, and also has overlapping ceramic plates to deflect lesser projectiles like 5.56 and fragmentation. All of these are carried on an enhanced exo skeleton, augmented with artificial muscle fibers and pistons. Of these abilities a few stand out:

Optical Systems: By far the most advanced part of Brazens suit is the optical systems. Using experimental miniaturised Muon Tomography he is able to see through walls like a real time x-ray. A bespoke inbuilt battlefield HUD program processes the sensor data into something he can see and understand. This is feed combined simultaneously with information from both thermal and night vision cameras into one seamless combined image.

Multi-spectrum smoke grenades: Brazen’s favoured tactic is to deploy smoke before moving in, this should shield him from enemy fire and is far less expensive than any armoured systems. However owing to his advanced visual optics, he is capable of seeing through the smoke entirely. This allows him to target other units normally. His smoke grenades however are tailored and cannot be seen through by normal thermal vision. Only he can see through them.

Drone Rack: Brazen carries no less than 4 drones using his exo-suits increased strength. This is fine because drones are rather small. Each of them is equipped with a single shot electric shock cannon which can taser whole groups of enemies in a tight corridor and can disable electrical equipment. It does this by spraying an ionised gas into the air 5 meters in front of it and releasing a massive electrical shock from an onboard super-capacitor. They also have a suite of advanced and bespoke sensors, able to provide night and thermal images which are relayed back to Brazens’ headset. Due to this Brazen has developed the ability to lip-read in a few different languages fairly accurately. The Drones can also be used for ‘bodyguard mode’ where they will actively try to intercept enemy attacks before they hit their master, such examples include intercepting RPG-7 rockets and causing them to explode outside of lethal range, which, given that Brazens suit has a good amount of armour is about 7 meters.

Mini Jump-pack. Due to the lack of available space on his back due to the Drone Rack and Ammo Magazines Brazen only has a miniature version of the jump pack. The limited fuel cylinders mean he can make 8 jumps before running out in a firefight. The booster rockets are located on his back and calfs and are self orienting.

Several Racks of Multispectrum Smoke grenades. Thanks to the exo-suit he has a good throwing arm too, and can easily lob these at range.

Gauntlet: When in his exo-suit both his arms have improved strength not only from better joints but also artificial muscle fibres. His gauntlets are an area of particular specialisation; made from pieces of artificially grown diamond they are harder than any other substance, this is especially designed so that an explosion cannot remove a finger or hand and render him unable to use his weapon, it also means that he can pretty much crush a skull with just one hand. His improved strength means that he can cave in an armoured vehicle door should he ever need to.
