I booted up L4D2 again, as I do periodically, and am having a blast with this timeless game (which I may or may not have modded to hell and back full of cute anime girls).

It's just a shame I have nobody to play it with.

Recently I bought Triangle Strategy and for once I am genuinely hooked by a Square Enix game, last one was Bravely Default II and that was because of the characters being well fleshed as a whole. This time I am impressed that for once Square has produced a game with branching narratives and player (or party) choice. The voice acting feels a little lackluster at times but otherwise is great, and the music *chef's kiss* is perfect. It changes to fit what is happening on-screen.

The RPG mechanics are a bit unorthodox but I find myself enjoying the system and the way Serenoa's convictions affect things in the game.

Based on the first few hours of exploration/first impressions; Tunic is great & 100% knows how to create rewarding exploration. And I've yet to have any of the same problems that I've seen mentioned by other (less charitable) reviews.

But I'm sure that the latter boss fights are going to be hell difficult.

Though I do think the controls take some getting used to. (But part of "getting" the controls, is intentional to Tunic's design. So I think that the game has been perfectly fair in its challenge thus far.)

@Dark Cloud Never played the first two. Aside from the one on 3DS, which was akin to a (pretty boring and bog-standard) single player mmorpg. So probably not?

And I don't know anyone else whose played'em either. So I'm afraid I wouldn't know their quality (or lack thereof).

My only experience is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and while I loved the story..Eh the..Icchi 'humor' was unpleasant imo, I love a good dirty joke but I was a bit thrown off by the strange way it was handled. The pacing was meh but I enjoyed the combat and the 'catch ur waif-I mean blade' factor

The first one doesn't have the ecchi stuff or the gacha style party members.

I believe it also had a rerelease that had better graphics than it's sequel as well.

HYENAS is certainly a game. I'm in the alpha and I can't imagine it having a shelf life even if it's a free game on release. It's like a battle royale game but mixed with Payday and it's 5 teams of 3 people in maps designed for sneaking around in vents. It would be a lot more enjoyable if there were respawns (there are, if you have someone on your team find a respawn vendor) instead of just feeling like you wait 5-7 minutes to die in 2.

>Been playing Worldbox recently. Had to usher in a nuclear holocaust just to stop the MUSH spore infection from overrunning every kingdom on the planet. I've a screenshot of the map below. A massive human empire occupied the continent in the northwestern corner, elves occupied the islands and such to the south, and dwarves occupied the lands to the east just below the orcs, who occupied the northeastern corner of the world. I started the infection in the dwarven lands, and it soon spread via ship to the humans and then the elves. The shroomies also overtook their orc neighbors as well, infecting them and swelling their fungal ranks. Now the only kingdom left is a small dwarven one, holding onto what little hope remains in the blighted wastes of a post-shitake world...

Way ahead of you there. If it's anywhere nearly as good as Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's Memory, I'm in for a grand ol time.

Don't get my hopes up. ;-;

How would you rate the other games in comparison? (If you've played them/from what you've played of Survive.)

>searching for youtuber's opinions as we speak

Because I've been wanting to get it since the first trailer. (Since it promised a darker story/concept than the prior games.) But I was curious if that element was still present. Or if it was exaggerated for marketing purposes.

Keep in mind I'm still going through it, am only up to chapter 5, but:

Yeah, I'd say the darker story is very much present. There's plenty of suffering to go around, and it almost gets a bit TOO melodramatic in points. I think it strikes a somewhat okay balance between when it needs to lighten up and when it needs to get serious, though.

Keep in mind it's still Digimon, so you're not gonna see people implied to be gored or anything, but it's real good. The only other digimon games I can say I've played seriously are the Cyber Sleuth ones, and this seems just as high quality as those (albeit with more text this time around and less gameplay.)

Speaking of gameplay: It feels like it's a bit limited in places. Movement feels very constrained, stuff dies really fast and you don't get a whole lot of moves to use on your individual digimon. Its also been an absolute pain to use a varied team because of maps only allowing 6 digimon at most, and since the protagonist mons are what you'll have access to the most, there's no real reason to ever deploy anything besides them. You'd want to keep two other digimon levelled at most for those times the protagonist goes at it solo, because maps like that usually only have two slots beside Agumon for deployment in the first place.

Like, the game's not perfect, but despite the flaws I'm encountering I'm still having a blast and am fully hooked into the story. All I wish is that Shuuji was less of a little bitch and I'd be good.
