You think you can take down my fighting types? Ha! That's funny.
MAIN PROFILE
Name: Sloan Wilder
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Hammerlocke
Appearance Information: Stands about 5'7" with a constantly straight-backed, cocky stance. She usually has her hair up, and the tips dyed in some capacity. She has a number of tattoos, the two most notable on her arms and neck, but there are a few more on her legs and back.
Sloan likes to wear mostly tighter fit clothing when she's training to avoid snagging on things, or giving her opponents something to grab onto. Most of the time, if she's out and about, she wears a leather jacket, jeans, and boots since she rides her motorcycle pretty much everywhere. However, when she's spending time by herself though she prefers comfy clothes that are a number of sizes too big for her. Generally she doesn't give two shits about what she looks like.
Personality: It is unusual to not see a smile plastered on Sloan's face. She is the kind of person that wants everyone to have a good time and will go out of her way to ensure that. She is easily excited by things that grab her interest and tends to overexaggerate most everything just for the fun of it. She is likely to make snap judgements and not fully think through what she's doing before she does it. Doesn't really matter the situation she will jump in guns blazing.
She's highly competitive, ambitious, and determined to win at almost any cost. Her usual strategy of winning a battle is to overwhelm with sheer force rather than go in depth into any tactics. She does know her type match ups though and uses that to compensate for the fact that very few of her Pokémon have anything but attack moves. This does occasionally translate out of the gym and she will throw punches at someone who pisses her off enough.
There is a more calm side that comes out on the rare occasion, mostly when she's drawing or doing more meditative training. She does pride herself in her creativity with most things though she doesn't take criticism on her work very well. Once she has made her mind up about something it isn't likely to change even if someone in a higher position than her tells her so. In fact that usually makes her stick to her stance harder than before.
Short Biography: Originally Sloan was born in Hammerlocke and grew up alongside her brother Adam. For the first few years of life she grew up pretty textbook until her mother passed away. Since that point she was raised by her father who was busy with his work alongside an up and coming Pokémon professor. While it did make him busy she had her brother to hang out with and once she got older her father started taking the both of them with him all over Galar to watch battles.
It was that that sparked her love of battling. Even if she was too young to get her first Pokémon she begged her father to let her join a martial arts dojo. The man was more than willing to do whatever his children wanted most of the time so he easily acquiesced. She enjoyed the physical fights and grew to love the fighting type Pokémon that many of the members at the dojo had.
Once she was old enough she got her first Pokémon, a Torchic that was a gift from her father. She thought about joining the gym challenge right away, but instead she elected to join her father in his travels all over the world learning about Pokémon. She built her team as she went and by the time she made it back to Galar she was able to join the gym challenge and easily make her way through. She was upset about losing the Champion's Cup, more so than she really cared to admit, but she held her head high just the same.
She popped back into the dojo she trained in as a child for a bit, training both herself and her team. One or two more runs at the gym challenge told her she wasn't likely to ever beat the champion, but it gave her enough of a foothold to join the minor leagues. She'd get to the top one way or another, though she still spends a great deal of her free time at the dojo training.

[Pokemon #1]:
[Pokemon #2]:
[Pokemon #3]: ...
[Heracross (Ossa)]: Ossa is usually the first out on the field and makes her presence known without fail. She loves the attention that the crowds give and relishes in every single bit of praise she can squeeze out of Sloan. She is stubborn as a Tauros though and refuses to back down from anything, even a bad match up. She is a slightly lighter shade of blue than most Heracross.
[Mega-Blaziken (Adiva)]: The daughter of Sloan's original starter, Adiva knows she has the ability to get away with pretty much anything. She uses this fully to her advantage and causes trouble around the gym, or in public if she gets the chance. The fact that she inherited her predecessors mega stone does not help matters. A darker shade of orange than usual that creeps further down her legs, cutting off some of the yellow.
[Gallade (Rokon)]: Rokon is often the voice of reason among the team. He is constantly keeping Ossa and Adiva from causing problems, as much as he can, and is much more tactical than his trainer. Oftentimes he can make a calculated decision before Sloan even has a second to think about what that might be. Looks like a normal Gallade.
[Toxicroak (Della)]: Ossa's partner in crime most of the time. Just as stubborn and bull-headed as the Heracross she pushes both of them to their breaking points in training. Rokon, or even Sloan, often has to force the Della to stop training and take a break before she runs herself into the ground. This does give her a stiff determination in her battles to never give up. More on the purple side color wise than blue.
[Kommo-o (Killinger)]: The other voice of reason on the team, though more on the serious side of things. Killinger is one of the older Pokémon on the team and serves as close to a team leader as they have. He doesn't take kindly to the pranks pulled by Adiva or the constant stubbornness of Ossa or Della. Thankfully most of the team respects him if he tells them to stop. Larger than usual.
[G-MAX Sirfetch'd (Greeves)]: One would think that the knightly stance of Greeves would indicate some amount of class. Unfortunately it is very much a mask and the Sirfetch'd is almost as bad as Adiva when it comes to causing trouble. Though his pranks are less harmful to their public standing and usually involve trying to trip Sloan with his leek. Looks like a normal Sirfetch'd.
[Poliwrath (Frera)]: Thankfully not nearly as bad as Greeves or Adiva when it comes to causing trouble, but Frera has her own brand of sly irritants. Mostly making the floor wet in inconvenient places. She is most of the morale boost on the team though and will pick anyone up when they are feeling rough after a loss or bad fight. Has a tighter spiral on her chest.
[Machamp (Hercules)]: One of the original members of Sloan's team and one of her favorites. He isn't on her main team anymore mostly due to age, but he still gets his hits in whenever he gets the chance. Hercules lives up to his name and puts on a big show whenever he is brought out onto the pitch and is the first to throw himself into a dangerous attack. Slightly darker shade of gray and absolutely massive arms.
[Breloom (Aprilla)]: Aprilla is one of the more laid back members of the team. Which is to be expected given she's a grass type. She is more than content to sit on the side and bask in the sun, but that isn't to say she doesn't like to fight. When given the opportunity she will throw herself full force into any battle she can find. The mushroom cap on her head is slightly larger than average.
[Amped Toxtricity (Acabion)]: One of the old members of her original team, and one of the only ones that isn't a fighting type. She picked up a Toxel from someone she met on the road and couldn't not keep it on her team. Now Sloan just lets him hang out and she tries to beat him at video games. It doesn't usually go very well. The electric mohawk is a brighter shade of yellow.
[Torracat (Nimbus)]: Not even considered a possible fighter, Nimbus is much too lazy to want to do anything more than sleep. Sloan picked her up on a visit to Alola with her father and eventually she just kind of took over the house. She is a good companion when Sloan is home though and the just needs to unwind with a warm, furry friend. Has more black than red on her fur.
"Let's get this over with. Relics won't curate themselves... Well, unless another Yamask got in."
MAIN PROFILE
Name: Allen Martenson
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Hammerlocke
Appearance Information: Stands at 5'11", with an upright posture that adds to his professional air. He keeps his dark hair reasonably neat, and his face clean shaven. Usually wears suits, and his idea of casual clothing is more like smart casual. Much of the time he has a slight frown, as if he's deep in thought.
Personality: Quiet, scholarly and stuck in his ways, Allen values practicality and logic over everything else (or at least claims to). He rarely speaks, unless he has something important to say, or when he's making a snarky remark at someone else's antics. He isn't particularly competitive, only having become a gym leader to satisfy his Pokemon's love of battling. He'd much rather be reading books and drinking tea than climbing the ranks.
What he won't admit, though, is the league challenges rekindle a side of himself he keeps buried. Many a challenger has seen something ignite in his eyes, or a half-smile tug at the corners of his lips as his Pokemon express joy in victory. He tries to get battles done with as quickly as possible, acting like there are more important things to focus on, but from time to time he almost lets himself share in the thrill of competition. He also has more than a passing interest in the events and heroic deeds of legend, despite claiming to prefer facts to fairytales. Usually, it's his Pokemon who see his warmer side, even though many of them frequently get on his last nerve.
Short Biography: Allen never planned to become a gym leader. He never even particularly wanted to get into competitive battling. Events simply happened that way.
It started with his childhood love of history, instilled in him by growing up in Hammerlocke. He and his schoolfriends used to play at being legendary heroes. He'd visit museums with his parents, and stare in awe at the displays. He'd read voraciously about the mythology of the Galar region, wondering how much was fact and how much was fiction. During his teenage years, his passion for learning led his family to enrol him in a prestigious school - which turned out to be a mistake.
The academy's education style was sink or swim. Teachers were quick to criticise, and slow to praise. Wonder was treated as something to outgrow, in favour of proving one's value by competing to see who could memorise the most cold hard facts. And a social life was out of the question. Allen didn't complain. He didn't believe he had the right to, being lucky enough to receive such an education. By the time he graduated, the enthusiastic, myth-loving dreamer he'd once been was gone, replaced with someone who'd lost almost all imagination and curiosity. Keyword being almost.
He took on the orderly job of museum curating, managing collections and exhibitions, yet occasionally he found himself daydreaming about the stories the artifacts told. At home, sometimes he'd watch videos of the medieval reenactments and renaissance fairs he'd once wanted so badly to take part in, telling himself it was for research purposes.
A certain somebody took it upon himself to bring out the side Allen kept repressed. A sword brought into the museum a while back had turned out to be alive - a Honedge. For all the the horror stories about the species, the Honedge played harmless pranks rather than actually hurting anyone, so the staff let him stay. Of course, the uptight Allen became his favourite target. So before long, despite claiming to have no time to be a trainer, Allen had his first Pokemon. A Pokemon who yearned for teammates and competition. The Honedge, who he named Gladius, developed a friendly rivalry with a Meowth, so Allen had his second team member before he knew it. His team filled out from there, and he gave in to their incessant demands to battle, even taking on the league.
Although he didn't win the Champion's Cup, league officials took notice of his skill, informing him of a vacancy in the minor league. He would have turned it down, if not for his Pokemon's enthusiasm about the idea. Unable to deny them the opportunity, he took on the role of Steel type gym leader.

His work-fostered meticulousness carries over to his everyday life; everything in his home is perfectly ordered, right down to alphabetised books.

[Pokemon #3]:
[Pokemon #1]: Aegislash (Gladius): Allen's first Pokemon, he takes great delight in annoying his trainer by using his psychic powers to rearrange carefully curated things in the museum. Loves to battle, and tries to get Allen to enjoy it too. Despite being mischievous, he has a surprising sense of honour, refusing to fight notably weaker opponents. The edges of his blade are straight rather than serrated.
[Pokemon #2]: Bisharp (Falchion): A cool and collected Pokemon who observes his opponents in battle, figuring out their weaknesses to use against them. Also likes to find methods of getting his way in everyday situations. Slightly taller than most Bisharp.
[Pokemon #3]: Corviknight (Spadone): This Pokemon's intimidating appearance is at odds with her friendly personality. She's smart and can easily tell when someone's unhappy, doing what she can to cheer them up. Capable of Gigantamaxing.
[Pokemon #4]: Perrserker (Ulfberht): Formerly a feral Meowth who kept seeking out Gladius for sparring sessions, Allen ended up taking him in as his second Pokemon. A grumpy feline who only appears to be happy when he's fighting. When he's annoyed at Allen or one of his teammates, he'll let them know in no uncertain terms. Has multiple scars on his body from his time as a stray, each of which he's proud of.
[Pokemon #5]: Empoleon (Kopis): Haughty and regal, Kopis hates to lose. He doesn't take kindly to anyone who wounds his ego in any way, becoming extremely defensive. Acts like a bossy second-in-command to the rest of Allen's team - which can be a good thing as he keeps the more wayward ones in check.
[Pokemon #6]: Aggron (Brigandine): A feisty and protective Pokemon, Brigandine has claimed the gym as her territory. Woe betide anyone who tries to harm Allen or any of his other Pokemon. She has quite the appetite, and on more than one occasion, Allen has had to stop her from eating priceless ancient metal artifacts.
[Pokemon #1]: Lucario (Akinaka): Acts like the archetypal cocky martial artist, snickering at opponents and showing off her moves. While a good fighter, her overconfidence has cost her a few matches, so Allen now keeps her out of battle much of the time while he tries to help her overcome her attitude problem.
[Pokemon #2]: Bastiodon (Pavise): A lazy Pokemon who likes to eat and sleep, Pavise nonetheless jumps into action if her trainer or teammates are threatened. Her lax attitude is why she doesn't often take part in battles. A little chubbier than most of her species. ...
[Pokemon #1]: Runerigus (Mantlet): Originally a Yamask who got into a clay slab in the museum. Since Allen had become an accomplished trainer by then, naturally it fell to him to subdue the disruptive spirit. Gaining respect for him, the Yamask joined his team. Likes to jumpscare Allen with Phantom Force, to get a rise out of the usually unemotional trainer. ...

MAIN PROFILE
Name: Basil Constantine
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Spikemuth
Appearance Information: Basil probably stands at the tallest amongst his peers-- 6'4" and 210 lbs, he quite obviously bears an imposing appearance alongside the dull-eyed glare that's constantly on his face. His silky, black hair is dyed an ashy silver near its tips, and he keeps it all bunched up together in a messy half-ponytail. Basil's choice in hairstyle is complemented by his olive skin tone, which he has undoubtedly gained from many days working under the sun. Faint scars run over the bridge of his nose and down his left eye, though it is unlikely he will ever tell anyone how he got them. No matter how much sleep he seemingly gets, he always seems tired and drained, sluggish in his movements and speech patterns.
One often finds Basil dressed in simple attire. A pair of shorts and a T-shirt for summer, slacks and a coat for winter. He cares little for style and brand-name fashion. Ironically, he can be seen smoking a cigarette wherever he goes.
Personality: Many call Basil a simple man. He's quiet, timid, passive, and somewhat detached from most of the world. Partial to a large variety of things, he gets along better with his Pokemon than with people. It takes a lot for someone to approach him, especially when he constantly bears an expression that teeters between solemn and uninterested, and when they do they're met with a short phrase or two. He prefers to remain alone and shies away from large groups of people; it can even be said that he actively avoids people and interactions overall, choosing to do his grocery shopping during the early hours or, if necessary, opting to text someone rather than call them. When not on the job, he spends most of his time sleeping, tending to his garden, or interacting with his Pokemon.
Basil holds an abundant, almost never-ending amount of patience. Many don't know if this is because he would rather avoid conflict or if things simply don't bother him enough for him to raise a ruckus. Shy and extremely lax, he frequently states what people want to hear, possibly to maintain peace or curry favor with people so he can carry on with his day. Though, there comes a time when even this endless well of fortitude runs dry and he finds himself riled up. Even then, his voice rarely strays from his monotonous rumbling... yet, the look in his steely gray eyes may prove that there is a spark in there, after all.
Short Biography: Not many people know Basil's history due to his refusal to give up anything more than scraps of information to people that he likes. The truth is that he was born with a bright future ahead of him. His parents, both office workers, adored their only child and gave him the world. He excelled in school, taking well to complicated subjects such as math and science, and by the time he was eight he swore he wanted to be a scientist. Unfortunately for him, such dreams were shattered when both of his parents died in a horrible car accident when he was ten. Having no other family, he was put into an orphanage that housed many other children his age. A deep depression had overtaken him which in turn fettered both his studies and social life. He hid under his bunk when the other children searched for him to ask if he wanted to play, tore up his homework, and became extremely rebellious towards his caretakers. Even though the orphanage's staff saw that he was clearly troubled, they did little to help and often spoke ill of him to potential adopters. Basil felt like an eternity had passed before he turned eighteen-- and when he did, the orphanage promptly kicked him out onto the streets.
Basil spent the next four months living in the alleyways of Spikemuth and rummaging through trash bins in search of food. It was during one of such escapades that he ran into an old friend from his high school days. Whether that friend truly pitied him or simply saw him as a usable piece of meat, Basil would never be able to tell. What mattered then was that such a friend offered an invitation to stay with him as long as he helped him with work. At that point in time, eighteen year old Basil didn't care about what kind of work it was. After all, he was in desperate need for room and board. He took to his friend's suggestion, gathered whatever few things he had with him, and moved in with him.
Thus began Basil's ultimate decline. It turned out that his friend was a prominent member of a local gang that dealt with drugs and dabbled in both petty and heinous crimes. Basil's job was to deliver suspicious packages both within the confines of Spikemuth and even to major cities such as Wyndon and Hammerlocke. Due to his involvement with narcotics and the fog settling ever heavier on his mind, he soon began to take drugs himself, which made him completely codependent on his roommate. By the time he was 21, he was hooked on several narcotics and just as dangerous as other members of the gang he was involved with. When he was 23, he was widely regarded as one of its kingpins. Money was pouring in from all fronts and Basil found himself with the ability to get what he wanted and when he wanted it.
It was during a very cold winter night that Basil's life changed forever. Having been sent to deliver a package to a client in the Wild Area near Hammerlocke, he expected to head back home with a pocket full of money. Instead, he was attacked by members of his own gang, his own roommate leading them in their assault. They left him mortally wounded in a grove of long grass, bleeding to death under the cold moon. As his vision grew foggy and he felt himself slipping away into a deep sleep, something green moved within a patch of yellow, dried fronds. It was a wild Bellossom that had emerged from its hiding spot and approached him with a only smidgeon of hesitation. Basil was too weak to defend himself from the wild Pokemon and passed out before it had even neared him. By some blessing, he awoke the next morning in a puddle of his dried blood. Several Growlithe had cuddled close to him and kept him warm during the night, having been guided by the Bellosom that had healed his wounds and saved his life. Still weak and tired from the previous night's excursion, he tried to get up so he could thank the Grass-type in some way. But as soon as he made any sort of movement, all of the Pokemon skittered away deeper into the grove. Once again, he was alone.
Luckily for him, a good samaritan came across Basil in his struggle to get to Hammerlocke. He was promptly hospitalized, though the police soon became involved with his in-patient stay. They knew who he was and Basil anticipated their questions. Once he was deemed healthy enough to leave the hospital, the officers arrested him and charged him with a variety of crimes. He was faced with multiple years in jail and an ultimatum at the same time. Either he would rat out his ex-gangmates or he would stay in prison until his late thirties. The choice was obvious and led to the arrests of a majority of the gang members, which in turn, dissolved the gang itself. Due to his compliance, Basil was faced with six months of jail time and a year of parole.
Time passed slowly for Basil, though not painfully. Being imprisoned meant that he had to quit cold turkey and by some miracle he was able to survive withdrawal. Parole was, at most, tedious. Getting a job as a Pokemon daycare worker was difficult, as he had to convince its owner that he was a changed man. Reporting to his parole officer was even worse, since she always used to nag him about smoking cigarettes and doing something more for himself. "Take the Gym Challenge or something," she had told him. "That'll actually get you somewhere."
At first, he ignored her. But as his year of parole winded down and he had successfully proved himself worthy of a suitable position at the daycare, he had an itch to spread his wings. Two years later, he brought the idea up to his boss, who was extremely supportive of the idea. He was able to sponsor him so he was able to get into the Major League Gym Challenge just in time for that year's registration. To his own surprise, Basil did rather well; specializing in Grass-types was easy enough for him, even in the face of disadvantageous type match-ups. He saw himself actually making a name for himself at the end of this long, strenuous path of his.
Until he lost in the first round of the Championship.
He built himself up just to be crushed under the weight of a fiery contender. With his tail between his legs, Basil returned to working at the daycare. Not long after, though, Chairman Hyacinth reached out to him. He stated that he was impressed with his progress as a young man both on and off the battlefield and extended an invitation to work as a Minor League gym leader. Though he didn't show it outright, Basil was elated. He was placed very low on the ranking ladder, but he felt like he finally had a purpose in life. Besides, he was getting good pay and laying low. What else could he want?
Still never got around to quitting smoking, though.
Likes: - Being alone - His Pokemon - Gardening - Naps - Children - Video games - Romance movies - Fine wine and dining
Dislikes: - Loud, ignorant, and arrogant people - Large groups of people, such as paparazzi - Bullies - People imposing themselves or their beliefs on him - Police officers - Wild Areas
Quirks: - No matter where he goes or what he does, Basil is always seen smoking whether it be indoors or outdoors. - A strict carnivore, Basil is sincerely bothered by the idea of eating greens. Some may call it a phobia. - His low, monotonous voice is known to make some people drowsy. His Pokemon seem to love it, though. - He's an astonishingly good listener and an adept keeper of secrets. - He isn't a believer of G-Maxing, Dynamaxing, or even Mega-Evolving. Basil feels like this tortures Pokemon in some way or form, so he actively steers away from doing such things. - Basil works very well with children. Perhaps this is the reason why Hyacinth is very happy keeping him low in the ranks-- he's an amazing introductory gym leader, no matter how old his challengers are or where they come from.

Gym Description: Basil doesn't actually have a physical gym; he holds his battle in a grassy area not far from Turffield. In order to challenge him, one must carry out menial tasks for him like doing groceries, getting him coffee, and so forth. Little do any new challengers know is that the people of Turffield are very much accustomed to Basil's strategy. Trainers will often come up to confront them and test their mettle in order to see if they're ready to face Basil overall.
POKEMON
Sesame [Bulbasaur ♂]: Tarragon's son, Sesame is a level-headed Bulbasaur. He works hard to please his trainer and teach little ones a lesson, though he's sweet enough to serve as a lap Pokemon. He loves napping with Basil.
Chive [Deerling ♀]: A sassy little thing that likes to rush headlong into battle. Her strength surprises some trainers. She's a bit fluffier than other Deerling.
Anise [Leafeon ♀]: Anise is a pompous Leafeon that needs to be in the mood to battle in order to perform well. It seems like she enjoys giving Basil a hard time. Her fur leans more towards white than other Leafeon.
Tarragon [Venusaur ♀]: Motherly and tends to Basil as if he were her own child. She lifts him out of bed when he oversleeps and lays on him when he overworks. Tarragon bears a very protective instinct not only over her trainer but other members of his team.
Fennel [Tropius ♂]: Fennel is perhaps the kindest of Basil's team. He loves making others happy and avoids internal conflict between his teammates. When the day is too hot, he provides Basil with shade using his large, leafy wings.
Burnet [Breloom ♂]: The fiercest battler on the team. Burnet hates being pushed around and is actively seeking to prove himself. He frequently looks upset over some thing or another.
Sorrel [Whimsicott ♂]: Sorrel is the mediator of the team; when Anise and Burnet or Coriander and Cicely bicker, he's the first one on the scene to try and calm them down. He helps Basil with smaller tasks around his humble abode.
Coriander [Lurantis ♂]: When not battling, Coriander's past time consists of causing mischief within the upper ranks of his team. He loves teasing Burnet and instigating fights between the Breloom and Anise. When confronted over such matters, he covers his smirk with his forelegs and plays innocent.
Cicely [Leavanny ♀]: Almost as much of a hard worker as Sorrel, she's often seen helping the Whimsicott with cleaning and sometimes even cooking. She has an intense rivalry with Coriander and the two always vie for a spot on Basil's main team when it's time to battle.
Clove [Sawsbuck ♂]: A no-nonsense Pokemon, Clove is adept at battling a variety of teams. His hide is covered with little scars here and there and his left horn is half-broken. Basil doesn't know why, but he always switches his forms a little ahead of the changes of seasons.

Name: Inigo Abastello
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Spikemuth
Appearance Information: Inigo is a 5'8 tall man with a lean build thanks to playing a lot of sports with his Cinderace. He has long red hair, green eyes, and pale skin. His manner of dress consists of a lot of black and red and silver chains, but he'll sometimes wear more comfortable items should his sponsors allow it.
Personality: Inigo, normally, is a stoic-faced individual. Calm and collected are the words that best describe him since he normally doesn't show a lot of strong emotions. He's kind and courteous when he needs to be, and though he seems like he'd be shy, he has absolutely no problems approaching people and coaxing them to talk about their lives. He's a listener and enjoys listening to other people's stories. He is also incredibly frugal due to his upbringing; if he's not out taking on challengers, he's probably in his room clipping coupons.
On stage and in front of challengers, he is an entirely different person. Outgoing, loud, and energetic, Inigo takes on the persona of a shonen rock star protagonist who thrives on having all eyes on him. He's gotten really good at switching personas at a dime.
Short Biography: Growing up, the Abastello’s have always had a money problem.
Inigo’s father, Marcus, and his mother, Henrietta, had always dreamed of running their own restaurant together. They worked hard, and one day, managed to open up “Abastello Cuisine”. Inigo and his younger brother, Aiden, were left unaware that the restaurant was actually failing. The money the restaurant made was barely enough to pay the bills, and profits gradually worsened over time. The whole thing fell under when Inigo’s mother fell deathly ill; to the point that she couldn’t take it and died despite fighting every step of the way.
The death of Inigo’s mother was sudden and struck the family hard; especially Inigo’s father. But, never being the type to lay down and give up, Marcus decided to pick up more workload to support his family.
Henrietta’s funeral ended up putting a huge dent into the Abastello family funds, and due to unchecked mental health, Marcus ended up having a hard time keeping a job. The jobs he did manage to keep he would have to work very long hours to make enough to barely support his sons.
Marcus’s wages still weren’t covering all of the bills, and eventually, the long hours and overworking made him have a stress induced heart attack. The attack weakened his heart to the point that he would need to be on medication for the rest of his life, and per doctor’s recommendations, he could only work in sedentary jobs that did not stress him out. Since there wasn’t much work that fit that criteria, it was safe to assume that the Abastellos were in a very crappy situation.
However, things started looking up when Marcus’s friend since childhood heard about their situation and offered them a place to stay in his gym.
Inigo, now 11 at this point, learned that his dad’s friend was actually the Fire gym leader.
This was when Inigo started developing a love for Pokemon and even became the unofficial protege of the gym. The fire types that lingered around the gym were all so beautiful, graceful, and intelligent in their own ways. His favorites in particular were Cinderace and Ninetails. They always kept him and his brother company, and they played with them when the kids were sad or lonely. When he wasn’t taking care of the Pokemon, Inigo and his brother were taking music lessons with Thomas.
The kindness of these Pokemon inspired Inigo to go and become a Pokemon trainer himself. Both Marcus and Thomas, the gym leader, were happy to support this decision. Thomas even went out of his way to give Inigo a Scorbunny, which was named Inferno, as his starter.
With this Pokemon, Inigo traveled around the region building his team and collecting badges. Though he tried out different types and developed a love for all of them, Inigo found himself subconsciously placing fire types in his team over the others. Fire types provided a comfort to him that no other type gave him. So, instead of trying to branch out, he embraced his heart’s decision and learned to work with exclusively fire types.
Inigo returned to Spikemuth when he received word that Thomas wanted to retire and fought for the gym there. After that, he trained his team hard and his dedication to his Pokemon earned him sponsors that paid very well. However, they told Inigo that his personality was boring and he needed to spice things up if he wanted to keep receiving paychecks. Not wanting to lose his family’s amazing source of income, Inigo did just that.
Now, the quiet and “usually keeps to himself” Inigo is a slave to the loud and stupid rockstar persona.
Likes: ~Pokemon ~Singing ~Rock/Metal/Punk music ~Reading about Myths and Legends ~Cooking/Baking ~Camping ~Fishing ~Playing Sports ~Supporting the gym leaders
Dislikes: ~Paparazzi ~Arrogance ~Ghost types (Litwick, Lampant, and Chandelure are the exception) ~Overly spicy foods (he likes to not be in pain when he eats) ~Litterbugs
Quirks: ~Inigo is a huge cuddler when he sleeps. His Houndoom and Ninetales often sleep on or next to him to protect him, which leads to one of them getting cuddled. ~Inigo’s preferred bedtime is 9:00 PM. He’ll wake up cranky if he sleeps later. ~Inigo hates trainers who abandon their Pokemon simply because they don’t have a specific trait they want. ~Inigo watches a lot of shonen anime to perfect his persona. -He made a promise to himself that if he ever caught a Legendary fire type, he would name it after his mother. ~Due to his upbringing, Inigo is money-driven. He’ll sell out for almost any price (assuming he doesn’t have a binding contract).
Fun Facts: ~Inigo’s band name is “Blazing Fire” ~It’s said that Blazing Fire’s pyrotechnics are so bright and powerful that they can be seen in space. ~Inigo’s gym is also well-known for being the most unique. By "unique" it means he's the only one batting his dynamax Pokeball like a baseball.

POKEMON
Note: All of Inigo’s Pokemon have been trained to understand commands through voice and through certain notes that come from Inigo’s guitar.
[Pokemon #1]: Vulpix (Ruby) ♀: Ruby is a smaller than normal Vulpix who loves a good fight. She’s very intelligent for a Vulpix and is one of the friendliest of Inigo’s Pokemon. Ruby knows when a fight won’t be easily won and will quietly communicate this with her trainer.
[Pokemon #2]: Rapidash Cinder ♂: Cinder is one of the Pokemon Inigo managed to catch in the Kanto region (he was there for a sponsorship concert). Cinder was one of the slowest among his herd, but Inigo accepted him regardless, and he has stuck with him ever since.
[Pokemon #3]: Centiskorch Flare ♂: Flare was found by Inigo when he was just a tiny Sizzlipede. Inigo has a burn scar on the back of his hand from when he tried to pick up Flare, and now wears oven mitts if he wants to hold him.
[Pokemon #3]: Flareon (Sahara) ♀: Sahara is the shyest of all of Inigo’s Pokemon, but is at her most confident when battling. When Inigo tries to introduce her to other Pokemon, she will try to hide behind his legs.
...
[Pokemon #1]: Salazzle Carmen ♀: This Pokemon gets Inigo a lot of side eyes, especially when she’s the only girl on his team. He promises it’s not what it looks like.
Carmen is the most domineering of Inigo’s Pokemon and likes to try attracting human men. She has a reverse harem of Salandits cheering her on in Inigo’s gym and treating her like a queen. Inigo didn’t have the heart to kick the Salandits out, so they stick around and clean up after each concert and battle. Carmen shows her appreciation by making the Salandits give him gifts.
[Pokemon #2]: Houndoom Pyro ♂: Houndour was a gift to Inigo when he traveled to the Johto region for the grand opening of some Galarian energy drink factory his face was slapped on.
Pyro is the definition of “the goodest boy” according to Inigo. He is incredibly loyal and protective of Inigo. Pyro often checks up on him during the night to make sure he’s sleeping well, then cuddles up with him and Kyubi. Once you get past the threatening exterior, he’s very sweet and playful (albeit very aggressive towards his toys).
[Pokemon #3]: Coalossal Magma ♂: This Pokemon is one of the cheapest to keep fed and happy.
Magma is Inigo’s most peaceful Pokemon and often keeps to himself unless called for something. Inigo leaves Magma’s coal alone and gives him any mineral that he finds during his travels, much to Magma’s appreciation.
Unless his coal or minerals are touched, Magma does not care for most people except his trainer.
[Pokemon #4]: Charizard Diablo ♂: Named “Diablo” because of how much of a Devil he was to raise, which surprisingly contrasts the “sweet yet feisty” personality they usually have.
As a Charmander, Diablo was responsible for the destruction of a good chunk of Inigo’s property and was always angry. After Inigo learned what was wrong and helped his Pokemon through it, Diablo is now a large Charizard who is quite affectionate of his trainer.
[Pokemon #5]: Ninetails Kyubi ♂: Kyubi is one of Inigo’s most protective Pokemon that is quick to hold grudges. For instance, he still holds a grudge against his previous trainer, who abandoned him because his traits weren’t ideal.
Inigo took Kyubi in when he was just a Vulpix, and though Kyubi didn’t trust him immediately, Inigo was patient and never pushed him. Eventually, Kyubi warmed up to Inigo and now protects his trainer if he feels danger is afoot. Like Pyro, he will check on Inigo during the night and sleep next to him to ensure his safety.
[Pokemon #6]: Cinderace Inferno(Gigantamax) ♂: Inigo’s starter and the big brother of all of his Pokemon.
Inferno is the most athletic and energetic of Inigo’s team. He is likely to be found playing some sort of sport with the other fire types lingering around the gym. Sometimes, Inigo will join his games, much to Inferno’s delight. Inferno will never say no to a good battle.
Incineroar plays the “cool big brother” to all the baby Pokemon in Inigo’s gym alongside Inferno. Inigo wanted to have him on his main team, but he still needs to work on Lucha’s lack of self-control when he gets really into a fight.
[Pokemon #2]: Infernape Sun ♂: Lucha’s battle buddy.
Sun’s fighting spirit mixed with Lucha’s makes for great and intense battles in the fire gym. He never says no to a battle and makes for a great training partner for the other Pokemon that Inigo tries to get experience for.
...
[Pokemon #1]: Typhlosion ♂: One of the Pokemon Inigo uses to create the pyrotechnics of his concerts.
