Devika could feel Roxy's frustration, since they were quite close. But public arguments were just... tacky. "Very well." She went back to eating her own food.

After everyone was done eating and had some rest, they went back to the game section. The crowd had picked up a bit but still wasn't overwhelming. There was a game that was new to this carnival, called Jacob's Ladder. The ladder was unstable, and on the bottom was thick padding for when you inevitably fell off. The top had a bell on it. It looked like fun to try, but quite impossible to win.

"What do you think?" Mara looked pretty interested.

Roxy waited patiently for everyone to be ready to go to finish. Then she followed them to the next thing. She didn't say anything while they studied the ladder game. Like most it was rigged to be near impossible. The key was almost. They couldn't make it completely impossible. If they did no one would fall into the trap. One out of fifty or so won. Maybe less. It had to be just enough that people thought there was a chance to win. "I think it is nearly impossible." She had climbed a few unstable things but nothing quite like this. With practice she might be able to do it. 'I don't think it's worth the risk."

Tim nodded quietly, adjusting his glasses as he peered at the ride. "I dunno, hon. Looks like an injury lawsuit waiting to happen." He looked to Roxy and smiled. "Roxy's assessment is correct."

"...You're right." Mara looked vaguely disappointed, and Devika giggled at the sight. Her mother had been more athletic in her youth. She was always the one to run after little Devika when she played outside. Of course, now there was gray creeping into her hair, and she couldn't move quite as fast. But her spirit hadn't lost its luster. "Fine. Next time."

They continued on through. Eventually another table caught Devika's eye. "Psychic readings? Hah! I love that kind of goofy stuff."

Roxy would have done the game if they wanted to but she was glad that they chose not to. She didn't think they would get hurt, fairs and carnivals tended to be careful about that, but she felt it was safer not to take any chances. She walked with them until Devika daw the sign for the psychic. It took all her control not roll her eyes. "Sure. That could be fun." She figured the empath deserved to choose at least one activity.
