• There will be an OOC thread, which is where character acceptions will happen, and a Discord, where ooc chatter, plotting, and other things take place. Discord is not mandatory but definitely encouraged.
This roleplay is based on the television show, Friends. Knowledge of the show is definitely not required as this will be our telling of our own group of friends.
PREMISE
Everyone has that flare about them that makes them different or special and people often gravitate towards them because of it. Some people realize it and play it up while others don’t even realize it or they just deny it. This quality may be a good thing or a bad thing but it helps people go through life but sometimes, it hinders them from their full potential. That flare that resides in people can be anything from a physical feature, a trait within their personality, or maybe a life event that happened and shaped them into the person they are today. Either way it goes, whatever that specific thing may be within that person makes them stand out in the crowd. It’s what makes that person different or special.
But these ten individuals, who travel through the crowded streets in the City of Angels known as Los Angeles, may have hopes and dreams but maybe they don’t. Each one of them just wants to be happy, a feeling that is relative to each of them, and while that is they will always have each other along with other people that have entered their lives. However their lives play out, whether it’s embracing their own individuality or not, it’s all up to them now.
Some have known each other growing while others are just being introduced to the group lives. Some of them share apartments while others have decided to stay on their own. They are all entering adulthood now and about to be on a crazy adventure right in their own city.
Romance, drama, and even betrayal will happen in their lives and all they have to do is figure out who or what it is they want to be.
But no one told them that life would be this way.

Hello, everyone! It's been a long time but back with a Silent Whispers Production. This roleplay is primarily character driven with GM events to help move things along. Time skips will happen. For minimum time skips, they will happen within two weeks in real-time and for maximum time skips, they will happen within a month in real-time. Beware that whatever your character does reflects their direction in the roleplay along with others. There will be mature themes present such as drugs, alcohol, sexual references, and other things. We will start the in-character on Thanksgiving Day with a potluck dinner at one of the character's apartments. Covid will not be an issue or affect this roleplay at all.

Growing up, Jasmine has been taught good values by her parents. She is seen as to be incredibly loyal to those around her. She would do anything for her friends, even if it means putting her own happiness on the back burner. Some people say she's loyal to a fault; This has caused people to grab the opportunity to abuse her loyalty in the past; eventually breaking her trust by doing so. From the age of 8, she has been diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety; Symptoms can be triggered by variety of things including her fears, people breaking her trust or nightmares about her childhood. Due to people abusing her loyalty and breaking her heart, Jasmine has become insecure when it comes to romantic relationships. Often doubting her self worth. When her anxiety and depressive moments hit; she goes through difficult emotional periods. Often withdrawing herself from others and wallowing in her emotions. Jasmine feels like she'd be burdening others; if she told them about all of her issues. Therapy sessions with her fluffy friend and the support of her friends, gets her bad spells under control.
Despite her own issues, Jasmine is a very warm and compassionate young lady. She's always there for her friends when they are in need. Helping to solve their own issues, finding it helps distract her from her own life. At times, she can be extremely stubborn if she's made up her mind about something; Everyone makes mistakes right? Jasmine lives to learn from the mistakes she makes, from her stubbornness. She also enjoys bit of the harmless gossip. If something interesting is going on; she's probably one of the first few people to hear about it and spreads the news.

Growing up in New York, Jasmine is the only child of Henry and Amara Monroe. Both of her parents, worked in high powered jobs; both being Lawyers. Allowing them to have a good income to provide for Jasmine; anything that she might need growing up. Despite the fact that both of her parents were busy with their careers; she's had a fairly loving and happy childhood. Both her parents and grandparents doting on her. Jasmine was said to be a happy and bubbly child. Always smiling and giggling.
From the age of 4, The Monroe family had been going on annual family holidays. Each year the destination would change, depending where they wanted to go as a family. It was shortly after Jasmine's 8th Birthday, that the annual family trip was taking place. Going to Disneyland Paris, as a belated birthday present for the young girl. On the way to the airport is when a tragedy struck; a drunken driver hit the side of the car that was transporting Jasmine and her family. As the car swerved out of control, they hit a large flagpole. The impact killing her father behind the wheel; Whilst Jasmine and her mother were injured. Help, had been called for the family by witnesses to the accident. On the way to the hospital, Jasmine's mother sadly passed away from her injuries. Leaving the little girl as a sole survivor of the car accident.
The accident had changed Jasmine; becoming a shell of the person she used to be. Withdrawn, always teary, keeping to herself and more quiet. She had been diagnosed with depression and anxiety. Whilst she slowly recovered from the car accident; her body held scars that'd forever remind her off that day. After her parent's deaths, she had been raised by her grand-parents. Trying to give her a good life. Jasmine eventually was slowly becoming more like herself again, with certain help to manage her anxiety and depression. Jasmine got a fairly decent education through her years.
At the age of 16, Jasmine moved to Los Angeles. Having been accepted to a school far from New York. It was during those school years, that she has met members of her 'group' and became close friends whilst working towards her Art and Design Degree. Art and Design, had always been one way that she could express herself. Including Fashion. Whilst she had decided to stay in Los Angeles full time; She'd go back to New York from time to time. Visiting her grandparents. Making sure that they were fairing well, as they were getting older.
As Jasmine got older, she'd work various jobs to make money between working on her degree. After graduating with her degree; she had started looking for fashion/art/design related careers. As it became her dream to work for a Fashion Company, as one of their fashion designers.
Over the years, as the group grew. Jasmine considers them a family. They are the people that keep her together when things get rough. 2 Years ago, she met Donovan Michaels. A charming young man. The two were happily together for better part of 2 years; before she recently found him cheating on her with an old school friend. Heartbroken. Jasmine wants nothing to do with him and is taking a hiatus from love. Or so she thinks. Who knows, maybe love might find her once more.

Sadie was born and raised in the deep south to Mary Lou and Charlie Markawitz. She was very heavily spoiled as a young child and raised in the church. Her father was a neurosurgeon and her mother stayed at home to help with her raising. As a young girl, she was a God-fearing tyke and always did everything by the book. This continued on until the age of fifteen. During high school Sadie discovered the sins she had been taught to stay away from. She soon started to sneak out at night to get drunk in corn fields and to have relations with any boy she could find. This led to her getting a reputation at school, which in turn introduced her to a more diabolical crowd. It was then that she discovered the hard stuff. At the age of seventeen, her parents discovered her cocaine addiction and sent her straight to rehab. After spending the rest of her high school life locked up, she graduated with her GED and decided she'd had enough with her hometown. She wanted to be a famous actress. Her father agreed to pay her way if she continued to stay one hundred percent sober. Sadie moved to LA and started auditioning the first moment she got. Her father would only pay for a small apartment in the city, so she ended up in a life completely different than the one she had grown accustomed to. To this day, Sadie has only been able to book small commercials and the occasional walk on. She's thankful for the friends she had made in the building, although she hides her past from them. Sadie continues to go out and party every chance she has.

Christian is the eldest child of 2; born to James and his wife Aurora. His mother came from the Monroe family; being the younger sister of the deceased Henry Monroe. Born and raised in San Francisco; the Wilde family didn't see much of the Monroe's apart from holidays and occasional visits at certain points in the year. His family life had always been pretty solid and happy; nothing to complain about. He was doted on, for being the blue eyed handsome baby boy. His younger brother Clark was born, shortly before his 3rd birthday. His baby brother was then doted on, by everyone including himself. Christian loved being a big brother; having a sibling to look after and protect. The two boys had a strong brotherly relationship.
After the death of his aunt and uncle; his family tried to be more present in his cousin Jasmine's life. Knowing she needed family; now more than ever. The two eventually forming a close bond. She's like the sister, he never had.
From a young age, Christian had a love for food; whether it was helping his mom in the kitchen or trying new dishes. He dreamed of someday opening his own restaurant chain. A dream that carried on with him through adulthood. Getting a good education; Christian made sure to include cooking classes throughout his school years. Eventually going to a culinary college. Excelling in all his classes; being at the top of the class. It was during his college years, that he met Melody Harmen. The young woman was smart, funny, beautiful. The entire package that he was looking for. Having similar interests and goals in life; the two were the perfect pair in other people's eyes. They soon started dating, at the end of their college years Christian proposed. Of course Melody said yes. The two happy as could be; they eventually got married. Life was comfortable for them as a married couple.
Both of them working towards their respective career goals; Christian had worked in various restaurant. Eventually becoming a head-chef for one chain. When he saved enough money; he eventually started building his own restaurant chain. There were good days, and there were rough days when it came to his dream. But he never gave up; wanting to see his work flourish. It was also a matter of finding good workers and chefs, to help keep the business a float. It was during those hard working years; that Melody slowly started to pull away from him. Despite him being a good husband, and doing everything he could for his wife. She eventually didn't reciprocate the effort.
Christian had a feeling, that she wasn't as happy as she let onto be. Trying to fix the marriage issues that followed. But it was to no avail. One evening, he came home from work to find that she had moved all of her things out. Leaving him nothing but a goodbye letter and divorce papers. It turns out, that she had been seeing his younger brother for a few months now; and the two decided to run away and elope. Thus, began the messy divorce and broken brotherhood between Christian and Clark.
Heart-broken; he decided to focus on his work. His restaurant chain expanding which prompted him to move to Los Angeles. That was a 1.5 year ago. Being fairly knew to the group; Christian soon made quick friends with everyone. Finding that, he was also close enough to look out for his cousin Jasmine. Trying to heal his broken heart. He's thankful for the group of friends/family he had near him right now. A few of his friends had tried to get him out there again, when it comes to dating. But he's not entirely sure that he's ready. No one has caught his attention enough, let alone given him faith that future relationship would work out.

Dorian was born in the small rural community of Erwin, Tennessee to parents Otis Scruggs and Harriett McCarthy. Otis was one of the mainstays of a local country-western and bluegrass collective known as The Cumberland Ramblers. The Ramblers were mostly a regional success, with their only national exposure occurring when their signature track "Whiskey Tears and Barroom Fights" briefly entered the lower rungs of the Hot Country Singles for a scant few weeks; as an unabashed braggard Otis would loudly remind everyone within earshot of this rather hollow accomplishment. Despite this modicum of success, The Ramblers were never a particularly profitable venture due in no small part to Otis’s volatile temper coupled with his overt narcissism; any the money Otis earned from gigs on the honky-tonk circuit rarely found its way back to his family. Otis was known to leave for extended periods of time to tour with the group or embark on solo outings, often leaving his wife and young son alone for weeks or even months at a time. In addition to raising their child Harriett was forced to work long hours at a local factory to stem the family’s slide into abject poverty. When he was not on tour, Otis refused to seek gainful employment. He was often found hanging out in seedy bars with the rest of the local riffraff where he would regale them with his oft exaggerated exploits while also indulging in his twin vices alcoholism and adultery. When Dorian was only five years old his father supposedly left on a national tour to support his recent solo album “Backroads & Byways”, despite the tour never materializing having been canceled weeks prior, it was one in which Otis would intentionally never return from. The last memory Dorian has of his father is of covertly watching him late in the evening meticulously pack up his fiddle and other travel essentials into a shabby duffel bag before departing their modest home for what was unbeknownst to his son the last time. Otis is very much alive but is most likely living under an assumed name in order to dodge the financial responsibility he owes the numerous children he allegedly fathered when on the road.
Despite the ensuing financial struggles in the wake of Otis’s departure, Harriett was determined to give her son a good upbringing and encouraged his burgeoning interest in music, even buying him his first guitar from a flea market at the age of ten. As a teenager, Dorian, struggling with his emerging homosexuality, found solace in the glam rock music of the 70s. He was inspired by the flamboyant stage presence and androgynous fashion of artists like David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, and Marc Bolan. It is around this time Dorian started experimenting with makeup and fashion, using them to both express his individuality and rebel against the traditionalist norms of his small town. He spent countless hours practicing his guitar and perfecting his stage presence, dreaming of one day becoming a famous rock star.
After barely graduating high school, Dorian moved to Los Angles to pursue a career in music. He has been playing gigs at local bars and clubs ever since, attempting to build up a following with his energetic performances and glittery, androgynous style. His music blends the theatricality of glam rock with the twang of country music, creating a rather unique sound. It is here in the City of Angels where he met group of similarly passionate and eccentric musicians. Together, they formed the band " Rory Rhinestone & the Cosmic Cabaret" and quickly became known locally for their high-energy performances and over-the-top costumes. The band consists of lead guitarist Blair Bexley, bassist Adrian Fitzgerald, keyboardist Asjad Mian, drummer Bruce Douglas, and saxophonist Levi Keswick; Dorian is the charismatic lead vocalist and primary song writer. Their manager/agent is the perpetually overworked Dominic DiMorra, who oversees a lot of local acts for somewhat reasonable fees in the hopes that one of them makes it big someday thereby netting him a huge windfall. This has yet to happen. He often books the band at the most random of places and often times they are not even the featured players on the marquee. Dorian and his bandmates are currently workshopping songs to be included on a debut album should they ever get signed. It can be said that the band in its current incarnation has not yet hit their stride and are certainly an acquired taste.
Like many aspiring superstars living in Los Angeles Dorian works a variety of odd jobs to cover his living expenses. It is not uncommon for him cycle through a variety of positions in a matter of months. He is currently working as a clerk in a record store, which is one of the more rewarding positions he has had in terms of the corporate world. His measly earnings allow him to rent a rather modest apartment inside the city limits. Dorian made fast friends with the other tenants that occupy the building and feels a strong bond forming between them.

Blair Bexley (Age 24, Birthday: June 10th): Blair is the lead guitarist of The Cosmic Cabaret, and she's known for her virtuosic solos. She's developed a guitar tone which is rich, searing, thick and conversely both heavy and delicate. Unlike a vast majority guitarists, she kept her left-hand fingernails on the longer side to create unique sounding vibratos and bends. She plays a Les Paul black custom with the finish removed on the front so that it exposes the wood finish beneath.
Adrian Fitzgerald (Age 26, Birthday: October 18th): Adrian is the bassist of the band, and he's the one who keeps the rhythm section tight and grooving. He constructs his bass-lines to be tasteful and interesting, without detracting from the melody of the piece. Adrian is considered the most level-headed member of the group and often tries to rein in some of the excesses that his bandmates revel in. Outside of the context of the band, he dabbles in amateur woodworking and is quite passionate about it. He plays the Fender Precision Bass.
Asjad Mian (Age 24, Birthday: March 5th): Asjad is the keyboardist of Issac's band, and she's the one who adds the lush textures and melodies to the music. She traces her linage to Kurdish refugees who fled from Iraq in mid-seventies and eventually settled in California. Her love of music has its origins in her very early childhood where she would watch her grandfather playing traditional Kurdish folk songs on the Tanbur. Though she did not discover her love of the piano until grade school when at home sick she through happenstance saw she archival concert footage of Sir Elton John on VH1 while channel surfing. She has been hooked ever since.
Bruce “Posy” Douglas (Age 23, Birthday: July 24th): Bruce is the drummer who provides the driving force and energy to the music. The son of a rather infamous shipping magnate, Bruce grew up in the lap of luxury. However, it seems none of his father’s business acumen or the years of prestigious private school education rubbed off on him. He is a Momma’s boy and uses her unconditional love to ensure father never permanently cuts off his personal stipend of a few hundred dollars a month. His personality can best be described as cavalier, carefree, and leisurely. He’s played in a variety of bands over the years and been kicked out of most of them once they realize his wealthy father refuses to bankroll his son’s band into instant stardom. He has a passion for drumming partially because it allows him to avoid the spotlight his father has been urging him to stand under his whole life; it also allows him to vent his frustrations by banging on something.
Levi Keswick (Age 21, Birthday: December 12th): The baby of the bunch Levi is the saxophonist of the band, and he's the one who adds soulful flourishes to the music. He's been playing saxophone since he was in Marching Band back in middle school. He's studied jazz theory and improvisation extensively. In almost all regards he embodies your stereotypical band geek. He is unabashed about his love of Larping and is an active member of a few local communities. He is the nephew of band manager/agent Dominic DiMorra, which probably contributed to his inclusion in the unit though he has since earned the respect and friendship of his fellow bandmates. He has on multiple occasions privately rebuffed his Uncle’s suggestions that he allow himself to be reassigned to one of DiMorra’s more hotter prospects.
Dominic DiMorra, (Age 59, Birthday: December 24th): He is the charismatic manager and agent of The Cosmic Cabaret. Dominic is always at the heart of the conversation, sometimes annoyingly so, interrupting topics to make it all about himself. He is a loudmouth, always talking about how much money he's making or the latest hotshot he's landed. His morality is sketchy at the best of times and the talent often finds that his checks are prone to bouncing. He has burned a plethora of bridges in his lifetime and has many detractors. Despite his sometimes-grating personality and less than ethical business pratices, Dominic is an incredibly hard worker, perpetually overworked and underpaid. He's constantly on the phone, negotiating deals and booking gigs for his ever-expanding roster of clients. Dominic's nephew is Levi Keswick, the band's saxophonist. While he tries to remain objective, it's clear that Dominic is partial to the band and especially proud of his nephew's success. Despite his flaws, Dominic is a valuable asset to the band, and they rely on him heavily to navigate the often cutthroat music industry. And while he may sometimes drive them crazy, they know that he always has their best interests at heart.

Liliana always had difficulty regulating her emotions and thoughts growing up, making her come off as a bit of a bitch to some– and her serious case of RBF isn't doing her any favors. Despite that, Lili is easy to smile(most of the time); she rarely takes anything seriously and does the bare minimum to appease strangers. Still, she tries to be as friendly as possible without getting too close to her neighbors and co-workers, only reaching out to them when necessary. To her friends, the few ones she has, she does her best to be there for them. To help when they move houses, need a couch to crash in, or simply if they need someone to smoke with. It's hard for her to make emotional attachments or show any real appreciation. To her, everything feels artificial and fake. Like a mask, she can never take off, but after years of pretending, it has become second nature to her. Smile when appropriate, look into their eyes, nod your head, and look interested. Small talk is always hard to come by, so she always has a short list memorized of everything to talk about.

B A C K G R O U N D :
If asked about her past, Liliana will happily tell you about her childhood and how she grew up in a backwater town in the middle of Nebraska. Where she grew up alongside her six siblings and parents in a ranch called "Hermoso Paraiso," and how they would primarily farm potatoes. She'll tell you how she would swim in the nearby lake with her church friends, and if you are lucky, she will even tell you about the dead deer half decomposed she found in their backyard once. About her closet-knit community inside the church and how everyone loved everyone, always smiling. Always there. Always watchful.
Or she might tell you how she grew up in upstate New York and went to Catskills every year with her parents for the summer. She'll tell you all about Athen's all town, delicious food, and how fun it was to take a boat around the lakes. How her parents kept her close by at all times, and how they rewarded her for being at the top of her class. How would they buy her ice cream whenever she got an A in her exams, and how they always tell her they were proud of her.
Once she told her roommate that she was born in Guadalajara. Her parent's home was a two-story house with a big wall surrounding it and a pool on the back. She told him that her mother, Miriam, would cook fried eggs for breakfast every day, and they'd all gather around the table to pray for their family, their church, and their leader. Told him that they would go out on Sundays to this big white church, its roofs curved to the heavens, where hundreds of them would worship like one big hive mind. All blinded by faith and the willingness to stay ignorant.
No one really knows much about Liliana, and that's fine. She likes it this way. They only know what they need to know; she works in the Pink Kitty Cat strip club, she has a "mild" weed addiction, she wants to adopt a cat, she always works out in the mornings, and she volunteers in the local shelter every Sunday morning. There is nothing more that anyone else should know.
