Unreliable in friendships, unreliable in schoolwork, unreliable in attendance. She wasn’t going to be the loser with no friends though—fuck no. For better or for worse, Jack found a way of worming herself into some semblance of friend groups, becoming a lingering shadow in the background of events. Was she their friend? Questionable (no). Was she a part of the group? Whenever she showed up, sure. After a few months (at best), she’d fly the coop to greener pastures, swapping for a new group. Her social life was a revolving door of casual acquaintances, being that she’d never let anyone get closer than that. Engaging with Jack felt very much like being used, even though she never seemed to benefit from it. If you ever made plans with Jack, expect to be disappointed. Her truancy was not from a lack of interest in education; it was a lack of interest in being anywhere. She’d attend parties on her own terms—a minimum of half an hour late, already half-drunk from pre-drinking at the plaza, floating through the crowd of bodies like a fish to water. The closest thing to quality time in Jack’s world was slipping off the school grounds to smoke weed in the secluded nooks and crannies of Delton. Jack was just as polarizing a figure to teachers as she was to fellow students. She was never actively disruptive—that would require effort on her part—but her refusal to pay attention and complete tasks became a passive impediment. None of them really wanted to bother with the kid who didn’t want to be helped, so they’d ignore it when they caught a glimpse of the cigarette packet in her bag, or when they’d bump into her with a beer in hand outside of school hours. The particularly stubborn ones would use her many misgivings as ammunition, in some kind of attempt to threaten her into caring. She remained blasé. As the years progressed, the cool, mysterious kid act got old. It became clear Jack had no intention of changing her behavior. Any wariness of her soon turned into bitterness, if not resentment. Still, Jack was never one to care what other people thought. She had her own standards and her own way of living; those that didn’t fit those standards didn’t matter. Jack was, and maybe always will be, an enigma. The girl with no real ambition who finished without a diploma, just the way she started. --- -To the surprise of many, Jack’s life has improved since Ritman, though she’s gained little success or achievement. It took a while, but she finally made the time to at least somewhat work things through with her father. What issues they were having, she’ll never tell (nor will she say they ever had issues in the first place), but she changed her last name to Wilkerson in 2019. Carpenter was her mother’s name—you figure the rest out. After that, her dad offered her a job at the Bistro, hoping it would help ground his still-oscillating daughter. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔It did. The formality of being a colleague rather than a potential friend meant that her aloofness was no longer a source of friction, and being outside of a school environment, she found herself wandering less. At her core, though, little is different. She managed to hold her job—even nepotism wouldn’t save her if she kept spending all her time elsewhere—and her work progressed to a standard that is agreeably acceptable. It’s fair to say she probably gets tipped the least out of everybody at the Bistro. Oh, you’re ready to order? ‘Cool. Whaddya want.’ The lack of resistance to her personality in her adult life has ingrained behaviors that otherwise would’ve faded after high school. She approaches everything as though it has zero stakes, offering nothing more than a ‘big deal’ when things go wrong. Appealing to some, offputting to others; the traditional Jack Wilkerson way. The same disinterest applies inwardly. It was never exactly a secret that she liked girls, even if she had (and still has) a stubborn refusal to name it. Why does it matter if she’s ‘a lesbian’? Labels are stupid. It’s as if she’s entirely disconnected from herself—enough to give any therapist brave enough to try nightmares. |
| ---- Jack possesses the power of intangibility—she can bypass objects of various materials that are in her way. This is done through minor molecular manipulation, wherein she can make her own molecules pass through the molecules of solid objects. Manipulating her own molecules on an atomic level is subconscious for the most part (and for obvious reasons), but it requires focus and concentration to allow her subconscience to do it. Things like fences and gates are significantly harder to phase through, due to the gaps between the metal. It takes far more brainpower to control as different parts of her body will hit either the metal poles or the air inbetween, therefore requiring the movement of molecules in dozens of different areas. Her power is also specifically concentrated on her own molecules—she can’t grab others and make them intangible. Straining her powers will usually result in nosebleeds, migraines and vertigo. ----Long story short, I want to take a detached figure with very little regard for how harmful her negative behaviors are, and thrust her into a situation of insane proportions with (most likely) some of the very people she hurt. The conflict this causes could go either way—it could finally break down those walls, and force her to confront feelings and having wants and desires, or it could vindicate her worldview and cause her to double-down on it. Being so self-centered, having her life essentially put into other people’s hands will definitely force Jack to take a more proactive role in events. She’s had very little experience with tangible consequences—or at least consequences she actually cared about—in her life, which is going to change dramatically. With time and increased usage of her powers will come greater control, and an expansion in the range of her abilities. The speed of a moving object will become negligible, and she’ll require less focus to keep her molecules in flux. However, if pushed too far, her power could easily slip out of control—she might never be able to turn it off, and soon die from the instability of her molecular structure. | - █████ STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES █████ + Can pass through moving objects as well as stationary ones. Or rather, they can pass through her.+ While phasing, she is less vulnerable to damage due to the arrangement of her molecules. − The faster an object is moving, the less likely she is to pass through it successfully. − It would be a dangerous struggle to pass through something thicker than the average concrete wall. − If her concentration is broken significantly mid-phase, she’ll be trapped, most likely dying immediately.  |

In elementary school, CJ had been an academic standout. A Student. Spelling Bee champion. Accolades for her time in elementary-level choir and band classes. By high school, that was all gone. Due to a myriad of home life issues over the years the Markowitz girl had transformed into a middling C Student who had no drive or interest to do anything about it—and fuck you if you tried to motivate her to change that. Unsurprisingly, CJ’s ‘clique’ was that of the outsider, the misfits, the people who didn’t fit in with anybody else. By all appearances, CJ found herself content being among those who didn’t exactly fit in with those who were academically excellent or popular by way of other means; people who were easy targets for her mean-spirited jokes and taunts, people who were easy vehicles for her angst to latch onto and antagonize. If they choose to act tough, well, CJ was never afraid of a fight. Between this kind of devil-may-care attitude and her own irreverent disregard for anything it led to more than a few visits in detention. In fact, it almost became a second home for her. Somehow CJ’s disregard for authority, society, and people in general didn’t work entirely as a repellent for people being interested in her. But being a magnet for trouble also often meant that other troubled teens would be drawn in. Whether it was at school or roaming around Delton looking for something to do, it did always seem that CJ was somewhere to be found, trying to actively avoid dealing with the world around her. Sometimes there was someone else who was dealing with the same despondent angst by her side. CJ didn’t realize it at the time, but it made her feel a little less broken–a little bit closer to being not content, but happy. But much like high school… such things are fleeting and temporary. --- -Granted, her high school life was far more positive than her home life. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Whenever things started trending in the positive direction, the world was keen to remind CJ that she was less than nothing in the eyes of god. Throughout her teen years she had reckoned with abuse and neglect with her essentially having to figure things out by herself without any substantial support from her mother, Samantha. If it wasn’t her mother’s awful drug addiction and terrible public image, it was the slew of physically and emotionally abusive men she found herself living with–and more often than not such abuse was vicariously directed at CJ herself. Due to this, one could say that CJ formed a personality based on finding an outlet for all of her negative emotions. The rage, the fear, the shame–all aspects of her wanting to transfer all of the discontent she felt upon not only the people around her but also the world that allowed it to happen. Through this CJ aspired to find any sort of power she could hold onto, for however long it was allowed to be in her hands. Without academic excellence (or the drive to put effort in like she had in grade school) all she had was getting reactions from people. Eventually she grew to like it, because at the very least, the reaction was something she could control. The world had tried to beat her down since her dad loaded a bullet into his throat when she was eleven-years-old. It wouldn’t win. She wouldn’t let it. By the time she’d graduate and aspire to leave Delton, she had forged a reputation for being a “problem”. Rude, sarcastic, overly nihilistic and cynical, irreverent, bold, headstrong, assertive. One of the kids that’d sit in the corner of the cafeteria, branded as a bitch or worse. A constant fixture in school detention. She’d never open up or admit she was too weak to protect herself at home–that she’d only go home when she had to. That fear of weakness, or being perceived as such, would drive her to be immensely private. She hated her mom for a lot of asinine, angsty teenaged reasons, but she’d never out her. At the end of the day, mom was still mom. She stuck with her, so she deserved to retain her dignity as far as CJ was concerned. This made meaningful relationships of any kind with CJ difficult for a garden variety of people. It has not improved in the last five years by much and in some regards isolating herself from people she once cared about might have done more damage than anything else. As the guitarist and vocalist for a Portland-based Post-Hardcore group she finally has the agency she wants, but something inside her feels empty, craving for more. She hasn’t found a way to satisfy it. |
| ---- CJ possesses the power of electrokinesis—the ability to manipulate electricity with her mind. Largely due to an ionized physiology that has her serve as equal parts battery and amplifier. So, in reality CJ doesn’t exactly create electricity herself but more that she manipulates the electrical currents that are drawn to her. On the conscious level, CJ can expedite this process or ward it off. Drawing in a large amount of electrical energy (or warding it off) is when things start to get trickier. Not only does it take an immense level of focus and concentration, she had to be very careful not to become downright overloaded. However, the benefits if done correctly, can lead to more complex applications of electricity including electro-magnetism. But as with these sorts of things, they come with control, practice, and precision. Overloading her body–and by extension her brain–things can lead to severe, violent blackouts. How much can her ionized body take before she’s beyond her limit? An overloaded battery can explode. There are many things to be wary about. ----“...our souls may be consumed by shadows, but that doesn't mean we have to behave as monsters.” ― Emm Cole This is probably the most realized version of CJ I’ve come up with yet. How far does someone’s worst judgment and instincts take them when confronting their past? That’s one of the questions I’ve asked myself here in the creation of the concept. I’d like to really dig into how misanthropic nihilism affects someone and show how they can change through the more appropriate conditions. The “why is she like this” question is often the easiest to answer. The “how can she get better” one is harder and one I’m curious if it's even achievable. Returning to her hometown was never something she intended to do, but here she is, doing so. Confronting the bad decisions she’s made there and the ones she’s made since she’s left. I’d like to see how her past relations engage with her inner being–do they anchor her to the open water, or are they life preserver that helps her finally move forward? I’m curious to find out. In terms of her powers, that’s a bit more cut-and-dry, I think. Through time she will gain more control of herself and her condition, but how far does control of that power lead to darker lanes? CJ is already a fucked up, misanthropic nihlist who justifies her misery toward others because she had to endure worse. What happens when you give someone with no hope great power and endanger her ability to express herself in healthy ways? I can’t imagine it's good. I think what happens to CJ will largely depend on the cast she will have to learn to trust. They have similar afflictions and if they can depend on each other it might help reach a more palatable, hopeful ending. Anything can happen. It should be interesting. All that said, I do want CJ to get “better”, but often getting better does require her to realize her mistakes and have some kind of support network that she trusts enough to unveil some of her demons. Because, well, frankly? She desperately felt the need to fit in with others, and was particularly focused on being seen as one of the "cool" or "popular" kids. Unfortunately for Anni, these dreams never worked out in her favor and were often ripped away right before her very eyes. Her attempt at joining Ritman's cheerleading squad flopped. She crashed too many parties she was never invited to. Even her very name had been twisted by her fellow classmates into a less-flattering nickname that would make your grandmother faint. No one wanted anything to do with Anni. She was ostracized by her peers; turned into a punching bag for the student body despite all of her attempts to crawl out of the hole she was in. It's probably why she found solace in being the school's mascot—the only good thing Anni swears had happened in her time at Ritman High. Tears are easier when no one can see them. --- -After graduation, things never changed for the better for Anni. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Although she was now free from the hell that was Ritman High, her future school career came to an abrupt end afterwards as well. After being rejected from several colleges of her choice, Anni gave up on future schooling and focused her time on the work force. That said, work life wasn't much better. Seemingly trapped in her own personal hell Delton, Anni worked an odd number of jobs from service to retail. These jobs weren't kind to Anni, in pay but also elsewhere, too. Each passing day Anni felt the soul-crushing effects of life even more than before, becoming moody, distant, and ultimately perhaps one more dumb question from ending it all. Nothing was changing for the better, so why should keep fighting against it? Then the email came. A cruel joke, certainly. "Wearing a smile"? Bah. She thought about ignoring it, refusing to go. But then Anni had an idea. If she went, then she could at least make everyone feel miserable; to lash back out at them. Yeah, that was it. The reunion was going to be a damn good time for Anni, but everyone else was going to have the worst night of their lives—she just needed to figure out how she would fuck shit up. |
| ---- Anni's power is the concept of mimicry. One might say it is similar to shapeshifting, and in fact it is in the same vein, but ultimately there are a few outliers that differentiate the two concepts. Unlike shapeshifting, mimicry only applies to other humans and not animals, plants or other living things. In other words, Anni might be able to transform into the president or some other individual, but she won't be able to replace Mrs. Carlisle's class hamster you accidentally murdered in third grade over spring break. You know who you are, Jason. Although Anni retains her memory when using her powers, she loses everything else, like her body, which adjusts to the parameters of her target's. Weight, height, even things such as amputated limbs or bad knees copies over, so she essentially feels the brunt of everything despite technically being still healthy and young. In other words, it can quickly become tiring for Anni as she has to adjust to the physical changes of whoever she has chosen to mimic at the time. ----Personally, I want to write Anni coming to terms with her past. Yeah, she's had a shitty life so far, but I want her to realize that it isn't all bad and stop being an moody asshole over it. Of course, this all comes down to other player involvement, given that her sheet entirely relies on the input of others. Essentially, I'm hoping to potentially use this as interaction bait and a way to further develop not just my character but other player characters as well, provided they're willing. As for her power, I imagine that Anni will have issue with it. Technically being in another body is a freaky experience, obviously. It's like waking up with someone else's face as yours, probably with a craving of tacos or something to boot. Teachers were more than eager to teach the youngest child for a prestigious family—hell, even some students were intrigued. But, for two years, he was under a lot of pressure from his school and home life with no healthy way to cope with the stress. It was a recipe for disaster that came to a head in the tenth grade. That was the year that Lucas Watson failed all his AP classes in quick succession, forcing him to repeat the grade. And overnight, he became the black sheep to the teachers and students of Ritman High and a disgrace to his family and residents of Delton. Being the disappointment of town and his family caused Lucas to isolate himself from the outside world. As a result, despite improving to the point that he resumed AP learning, he was still viewed lowly due to his frequent smoke breaks. Then, towards the summer break of the same year, rumors of his sexuality started spreading after his dating profile was found on a popular gay dating app by some of the students. His religious parents were furious and sent him away to a religious camp that summer. Of course, that "vacation" did not help at all. It made Lucas more depressed and anxious than ever before. To make matters worst, another rumor quickly spread across the school (and town) during senior year. "Lucas Watson is a school shooter in the making" was one of the messages shared on social media. Of course, it didn't help that Lucas began wearing long sleeves and jackets to school every day, regardless of the weather. And his disregard for his well-being (tired eyes, cigarette smell, etc.) caused the school to interfere by escorting him to the principal's office during class. Due to his better grades and (pressure from one of his siblings), the school offered him free counseling for the remaining senior year. Lucas accepted their offer and found it surprisingly valuable despite his parents being against it. Regardless, the counseling made such that Lucas received his diploma with honors in the end. After graduation, many students and teachers assumed that Lucas would remain in Delton with his parents. That all changed when he was last seen standing alone at the bus station with a suitcase in one hand and another holding an envelope—emotionless. He departed for Massachusetts, and nobody heard from him until his sudden arrival in town years later for the class reunion event. --- -Despite being a target of ridicule for fellow students, Lucas always liked being around people and wanted to have an active social life. There were some that he considered friends before he isolated himself in the tenth grade. Being a loner in his school and home was already hard enough for a teenage boy dealing with hormones. Counseling was a huge help to someone like Lucas, whose well-being significantly improved during his senior year. Being kicked out and leaving Delton temporarily worsened his mental state. But Boston was what he needed to truly be his better self with a stable work environment and a more welcoming climate than Delton. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔One significant problem Lucas still struggled with was his clinginess in relationships—romantically and platonically. He rarely received genuine attention and love from others (especially from his parents), making him clutch onto moments whenever he did. Moving out of Delton and seeing a therapist certainly addressed the clinginess but did not resolve it. Yet, it also highlighted another issue. Lucas started to become afraid of opening up, given how much emotional baggage there was to unwrap upon his friends and significant other. He wanted to resolve it for good, and going back to Delton was the only logical option, supported by his therapist. |
| ---- "The only difference between past and present..." "...is semantics." Often associated with fortune tellers and seers, precognition allows the user to foresee and observe possible futures. In the case of Lucas Watson, his foresight seemingly includes infinite possibilities of any situation. But to achieve the full potential of such an ability, he would require to be conscious of crucial details, or we'd end up with absurd outcomes. And the only way for us to see any outcome is with a deck of tarot cards—for now, of course. Nevertheless, further use of his powers might, in theory, enhance them in several ways to our benefit (see Development for more details). ----"If we could perceive time as it truly was..." But in the modern age, science was the one to gift him with precognition. A theory among the scientific team is that if conditioned enough, his powers can also see the past clearly. Another theory, though far-fetched, is that he could travel to any alternate universe that does not exist in our current world if he can fully comprehend his power. She was the kind of person that could have a solo conversation with someone for hours and call it an 'interaction'. However, her mind was not an empty shell, so the chattiness did not originate from being airheaded. There were moments when Hanna wished that she could shut up, but her mouth just kept going. She absolutely did not have any kind of filters. Everything Hanna said simply jumped out of her with total disregard for context or situation. While there was no particular group of people that Hanna gravitated toward, her positive and happy demeanor naturally pulled at interaction with whoever was sad, depressed, and rejected. Hanna was like social glue that kept the less fortunate from drifting away into the void of whatever their issues were. It was almost as though she could sense a broken aura in anyone standing at arm's length in front of her. Being heavily invested in Ritman's social media presence, Hanna made an effort to elevate the people and parts of the school that did not often see the light of day. Hanna was the kind of person that tried to attend all sorts of extracurricular activities that the school offered or put on. She was also huge into the teams and caught the games almost religiously. Hanna would wear the team jersey, buy a bunch of hotdogs, and be the loudest screamer in the crowd. She was also quite into dancing and artsy theater things. Whenever the artsy students put on a play or did an open rehearsal, Hanna would try to be there and watch it, applauding the loudest out of everyone there. Hanna was truly a high-exposure, be-everywhere-at-all-times kind of gal. While Hanna's appearance gave her some manner of carte blanche with the popular crowd, her interest in and allegiance with the freaks landed her in trouble more than once. It was not an awfully common occurrence, or particularly nasty, but a snarky comment here and there did happen. Hanna had an in with the sports guys, because of her worship of the games, which was almost exclusively her safety net in terms of High School politics. Hanna was also deep into the LGBTQ+ crowd at the school, bringing them much attention through social media presence and daily chatting. --- -Shortly after graduating from Ritman, Hanna put all of her effort and time into social media presence. She even started to Stream herself on an online platform, playing some video games and just chatting with her viewers. Seeing as Hanna had a natural affinity for talking and being talkative, her interaction with the viewers was quite a hit and made waves online. While there were some fashion and cosmetics sponsors willing to work with Hanna on the influencer side of things, her heart quickly gravitated more toward Streaming and interaction with the infamous Chat. ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔The first six months of Hanna's online persona certainly changed her in real life. While many of her iconic traits from the Ritman days were intact, she had become a lot more sarcastic and outright weird at times. She became the kind of person that would say Chat emotes out loud in public as a reaction to something instead of doing the actual reaction. This was perhaps not a big deal for the online trolls and IRL-rejects, but the kind of people that existed on the influencer side of Hanna's online presence obviously did not understand it. All things considered, though, Hanna did a pretty decent job at keeping up with her physical appearance and attending whatever-important-event in the illustrious NYC fashion scene. Due to how Hanna talks, she often gives the impression of being dumb. She also has a bit of a reputation for being physically clumsy. These two things sort of bond together to create this caricature of a person that does not or should not really exist. However, Hanna is painfully aware of these things, unlike an actual stupid person. Her internal dialog is constantly reflecting on itself as to why something happened or why she said something in a particular way. This is something that rarely, if ever, sees the light of day in terms of words and talking with someone about it. Hanna outwardly seems quirky, perhaps even eccentric at times concerning particular things. She is or has become a bit kinky, too. Hanna's career choices have led her down a less-than-favorable path in a specific sense. The whole influencer and fashion scene or 'consciousness' is some of the most destructive shit she has ever experienced. It is certainly good money, but one must ask if it is really worth it. Unfortunately, the fancy lights and glitter are much akin to any widely spread drug that people cannot stop abusing. It has been difficult for Hanna to say 'no' in many circumstances which only brings obsessive-compulsive narcissists into her life. She has been desperate for a greater excuse, or any kind of excuse, to simply close it all down and get out. Hanna was and still is the kind of person that does not mind doing things alone. This is especially true for the activities that most people see as group activities. For example, Hanna does not have any issues with going to the movies by herself, to a sports game, or even to a house party. Lately, she has been getting into 'IRL' streaming, whereby she visits all sorts of stuff in and around NYC for her viewers to enjoy. Due to her chatty nature, pleasant appearance, and friendly demeanor, Hanna often finds herself making new acquaintances and randomly speaking with people wherever she is. |
| ---- Hanna can affect physical and mental health. Health in this case is the state of physical and mental well-being of a person or animal that is clearly alive. She can increase or decrease the healing process to the point of rapid regeneration or indefinitely prevent recovery at all. At some stage, Hanna is able to sense or detect injuries and diseases in an entity before it is apparent or felt. Wounds and diseases that Hanna has healed or prevented are also subject to be re-inflicted by her hand. However, she cannot cause new wounds or diseases with this ability. Moderate to severe pain can be alleviated by physical contact with Hanna. The more contact, the less pain someone will feel. However, the relief will subside the same instant as the contact is broken. This can affect certain mental and emotional duress. However, the effectiveness might depend on who the person at risk is. Physical contact is also necessary when Hanna has to heal a wound. Depending on circumstance and severity, the healing process itself might be extremely painful, as the body is not used to rapid cellular regrowth and tissue regeneration. As for Hanna herself, the ability does not work automatically. She must go through the same process of focus as with healing a third party. However, the process will seem to be automatic in regard to poisons, toxins, viruses, parasites, and other such things. That is, Hanna cannot get infected or sick by external influence. Further, the healing process could also remove minor imperfections of the skin, such as scars, acne, rashes, burning, and other inflammations or harm caused by elements. ----Hanna's challenge is definitely to voice her internal dialog and break the outside perception of her character. Her own interpretation is that 'it is too late to change', and that voicing her thoughts in this manner would be too 'alien' next to how her social persona is. Whenever someone spends alone time with Hanna, some of the internal demeanor might slip through every now and then, but that is the utmost limit to it at this time. I think Hanna already functions as the 'weapon of the rejects' trope, or has done so during Ritman, due to her physical appearance, which always kicks open many doors in society. But, after her adventures as a Streamer and interactions with the Chat, this would either have gone away completely or been blown out of proportion. I am not sure which direction it will go in, but it will be one of the two or one of the two depending on the situation. So, if Hanna was more of a social jack-of-all-trades during Ritman, she has become more niche now. My idea is that the healing power will bring out Hanna's inner dialog and change her into someone she wants to be or feels that she already is. It will not be a 180 turn, all of a sudden, but rather a change of character perception from 'quirky' to 'reliable' -- perhaps, not sure about the wording here. | - █████ STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES █████ + Immunity to sickness, poison, and parasites.− For serious wounds or advanced diseases, Hanna must eventually sacrifice her own well-being as a health transfer. Being the head of student government meant that she did what any good President would do, understand her patrons. She wanted to see the ecosystem of their school thrive, so she made it a point to befriend and honor her friendships with basically every individual and niche group that inhabited the conventicle of Magpies. She was never fake and always found a way in her stacked schedule to help and guide those who needed it while still maintaining a healthy social life with everyone else. She was almost viewed as inhuman, and while she didn’t sit at the top of the academic ladder, she was still in the top 5. You can’t do it all without giving something in exchange, and that was enough for Ivory --- -Ivory has always been altruistic and humanitarian at heart from the onset of her consciousness. And while the world is wicked and tends to beat down on people of the same merit, it had no effect on Ivory. Perhaps from the protection and nourishment that her parents had granted her or just the sheer tenacity of her vibrant personality. She never had issue making friends and naturally attracting those to her like a bear to a fresh hive of honeycomb. Despite her aura of nobility, she does have a rather sharp sense of justice which carried her onto the path of law school. Structure was important to her and while she wasn’t too rigid with making addendums, she prefers to stick to the script unless persuaded otherwise. Equality is mostly what she prides herself on, whether that be socially or environmentally. Being in the school’s assembly of governance served to make the career of public administration quite enticing. She was always fighting to be the voice for her peers who were or could not be heard. Being born a Black-American woman meant she identified with several minority groups, each with its own avenue of discrimination. Her families’ roots were important to her, which led her to personally subscribe to the fight to end inequality. Ritman high was the first manifestation for this. Leaving Ritman in the rearview never really bothered her, she knew she was destined for bigger things, but she did feel as though she could have made deeper connections, attended more games, or even been part of other clubs that weren’t just resume and experience builders. She knew her reputation preceded her and was quite intimidating, but she was always approachable. |
| ---- Everyone is familiar with how the dinosaurs were wiped out. In case you didn’t know, it was a giant meteor from outer space. Now what they didn’t tell you is that it wasn’t just some ordinary meteor that wiped them out, but something much more powerful. Over the next several millennia the first civilization of men unearthed the remnants of this prolific meteor. What they found inside the meteor was something else something greater, within the meteor were shards of celestial energy that remained alive all these centuries. This abundance of energy stored inside was treated as a gift from the gods and worshiped as so. During ceremonial rituals the most suitable candidate to represent the village would be chosen to consume a small shard of this radiant energy. Once bonded with the host the shard granted powerful magic and a surplus of new knowledge and ideas. Civilizations prospered and thrived under the leadership of these powered individuals, much faster than what normal homo sapiens could achieve in the same timeline. However, this amount of power was uncontrollable back in the day and for all their success there was a harvest. Unable to master the power in their vessel the crystal would corrupt and overpower the user, wiping out entire civilizations seemingly overnight, forever branded as ‘lost’. Many historians theorize that civilizations such as the Maya, Indus, Anasazi, Cahokia etc. were lost, but they were just the dregs of once great civilizations. This didn’t mean the crystal was lost however, instead the crystal would trap the bonded soul inside which was intended for use by the new owner. Thus, in turn creating a link to past crystal owners and serving as an encyclopedia on information such as language, architecture, and innovation. And so, the shard was passed from civilization to civilization across the ages until one day it was marked too powerful for use. Instead of implanting it into a person the elders locked it away, planting the crystal within the front of a book. The pages had no writing or invisible ink, there were no photographs or illustrations, just simply a crystal in the front of an otherwise normal book. The powers granted by the shard granted the user a tether to the celestial plane allowing for access to magic. With the shard serving as a connection to past lives, the user can incant and recite the words necessary for these spells. This takes shape into what Ivory calls Constellation Magic which she can then use to mimic spatial anomalies into magical powers. Her powers and past lives also grant her access to preordained abilities learned from past magicians. These include illusion casting (limited) and telekinesis while the rest are still being learned. ----For Ivory the reunion would bring her a lot of happiness and a chance to form the bonds of friendship she didn’t have time for while in High School. No background or label given to these people would matter to her. They wouldn’t grow much in the sense of personality, but in the way of learning more empathy for other backgrounds outside her career focus. Despite being the catalyst for their subjugation of the supernatural, Ivory is unaware of the consequences of wielding such power. The book will slowly poison Ivory’s soul and begin to turn her maleficent. | - █████ STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES █████ + In a world ruled by science and logic, magic is only reserved for people who perform party tricks or those desperate enough to busk on the street. Having an otherworldly power and magic that is beyond explanation allows for potent weapons against those in opposition. Magic is rather versatile and can be choreographed with several other spells at once. Not only that but depending on the amount of magic used and incantation length directly affects the strength of the spell being used. It’s almost limitless to say as magic requires constant learning for the exploration of new possibilities. Despite being quite powerful so early on with magic and the possibilities being so endless, Ivory is still a newly anointed magician. While she has access to telekinesis, illusion casting, and her own magic, she is restricted to only being able to use one at a time. Ivory is also very weak in hand-to-hand combat and her best defense works from a good distance. Despite having mana flowing throw her veins she can overuse her powers easily, thus forcing her to be smart on use and conservation of magical energy. −  ▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔ |
