Chronicles of Elysium

You stroll leisurely through the vibrant streets of Elysium, the excitement of the annual faire permeating the air. The lively chatter of merchants, the sweet melodies of minstrels, and the tantalizing aromas of delicious treats create an atmosphere of joy and revelry. As you meander through the bustling crowd, your eyes are drawn to a mystical booth adorned with vibrant tarot cards and an enigmatic fortune teller beckoning passersby. Curiosity piques your interest, and you approach the booth, eager to catch a glimpse of what the future may hold. But just as you step closer, a sudden shift in the fabric of reality takes hold. Time seems to warp and twist around you, and before you can fully comprehend what is happening, a blinding portal materializes, engulfing you in its swirling energy.

In an instant, you are transported beyond the confines of time and space, cut off from the familiar sights and sounds of the faire. The chaos of the portal disorients your senses, leaving you momentarily breathless. The world around you blurs, and a sense of weightlessness overcomes you as you are transported to a realm unknown, adrift in a sea of temporal turbulence. When the disorienting whirlwind finally subsides, you find yourself in an entirely different place. The vibrant streets of Elysium are replaced by a scene from a bygone era. The buildings have a weathered, ancient quality, and the once joyous ambiance is replaced with an eerie silence. You stand alone, disoriented and bewildered, realizing that you have been thrust into a time behind your own.

Prepare yourself, for the past calls out to you, beckoning you to explore its depths and uncover the truth that lies hidden within. Your journey through time has just begun, and the fate of Elysium hangs in the balance. The faire may be a distant memory, but your purpose remains clear: to mend the shattered threads of time and forge a future where past, present, and future coalesce in harmony once more.

Step right into the world of the Chronicles of Elysium, an exciting adventure inspired by the fantastical realm of Dungeons and Dragons. Forget about rolling dice and tracking points; we're keeping it simple and light-hearted. You'll still get to choose your class, race, and all that good stuff. This game is perfect for a cozy group of 3 to 5 players. Now, here's the deal: I'm looking for active players who can hop in and post at least once or twice a week. If that sounds like your cup of tea, then keep scrolling and join the fun!

Our adventure kicks off in the bustling city of Elysium, right smack in the middle of their epic annual fair. But hold onto your hats because your character can hail from anywhere in the Forgotten Realms. Heck, they can even be from another dimension! Just make sure they've got a solid reason to find themselves in the heart of Elysium. Once we've gathered two or three eager players, I'll whip up an OOC (out-of-character) thread to kickstart our adventure. So, who's up for some thrilling escapades and unforgettable tales?

Can i do a multi-class by merging two classes?

Ive only ever dnd'd once before and i really want to sink my teeth into this rich universe.

Addendum: No one seems to have done a sorcerer of stone yet. Is that legal? A guy who can manipulate stone?

I am here. In a similar case to Steel Legion, I've really only consumed media related to D&D alongside reading the manuals and such, and playing games like Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, but have never actually played D&D itself. And it's been a while since I've done the former so I'm going to throw out some character ideas and see if any take.

First one is, since I love time related powers, either an apprentice Chronoarchitect trying to fix the Time Gate and whatnot or a fully-fledged one joining the party to try and keep the city's timeline stable and keep the shards of the Prism from falling into the hands of those who would use it for less than benevolent ends. Though I can understand if that's off limits given the powers involved, as time manipulation of any sort can be a tricky thing to manage in a roleplay.

Second is a wizard of some sort, so long as I can do a more mana or components based system and not the weird bastardization of Vancian magic D&D has. (Vance's magic was alive and had a will and wanted to be used--and its spells could only be held in one's mind for so long--so unless Mystra is forcefully ripping the spells from my character's head after they've been used, I don't really see the need for it.) For this I could see a character coming to the city just to check out the libraries (let alone the faire) only to be caught up in the time travel shenanigans as well. Another idea in this vein is more a wizard who's always too tired to fight at full power, which I think could add some comedy overall.

God help their foes if they ever get a good night's sleep though...

The third is a warlock whose patron has sent them to Elysium specifically for the Gate and the Prism, the former having a vested interest in the latter, though for what end nobody knows-- not even the warlock.

Of course I can also go with a more standard class and ability set if none of the above works.

I like this a lot! I briefly DnD in high school, so I maybe a bit rusty.

Let me know if I need to add or edit anything. Then I also post Amaris in the character section. :)

After some thought, I'm afraid I am going to have to bow out for now. I've got too much on my plate currently for a more in-depth roleplay at the moment. Best of luck with the RP.

Aaaah D&D, my teenage years' love. I used to play a lot before the hard-working adult life kicked us. Really love Forgotten Realms too, so I really have to join in on this fun!

Do you have an approximate level limit as a guideline for character abilities/skills? I have an old DnD character that I'd love to adapt for this.

Oh no, I'm absolutely bummed to hear that you're backing out! I was seriously stoked about your brilliant idea of having an apprentice for a Chronoarchitect. It would have added such a delightful twist to the story, helping our characters navigate their challenges. Perhaps you could give it another thought? I understand if you have reservations, but I genuinely believe that your idea of introducing an apprentice for a Chronoarchitect holds tremendous potential.

@McKennaJ71@WhiteAngel25@Riffus Maximus

! I'm thrilled that I've caught your attention. I'll be reviewing applications soon. Oh, and I forgot to mention earlier, the ideal level range for characters should be between level 3 and 6.

As appealing as the idea is, I mainly don't have the motivation required to give the level of detail this RP requires. That's not saying the detail you're asking for is a problem in and of itself mind, just that I don't really have it in me to give it at the moment. It's been ages since I've done a group RP, and even longer since I've gotten remotely near high casual or advanced in terms of writing.

Not me seeing the City of Elysium description and knowing that Baldur's Gate is south of Waterdeep by two months, while it's only about a week's journey between Daggerford and Waterdeep, and Cormanthyr is in fact quite a ways to the east, not the west. Also Elysium being one of the Outer Planes that the gods live on... Suspension of disbelief is hard.

Glaring geographical mixups aside, you can call me interested! Currently considering what kind of character I'd like to play...

We might consider this a Forgotten Realms AU hahahaha. I'm gay, so clearly, geography is not one my skills!

Hey there, is this still going? I've played quite a bit of D&D, but mostly in homebrew settings. It'd be nice to explore the classic Forgotten Realms environments for once.

@Ignorancebliss I might actually not be able to come up with something. I've been lore diving in the forgotten realms wiki trying to come up with a solid background for my PC and I just have nothing. My inspiration is at an all time low. But I really do love this idea and hope it's a very successful rp, though.
