Your cyberpsychosis will manifest itself in subtle ways to begin with. Shadows that disappear the moment you turn your head, a glitch that disappears with a second take, an object that exists only in your peripherals.
Though, in time, a being will begin to appear. This creature will be of your design. Friend, foe, person of your dreams, person of your nightmares. Who they are, what they look like and what they mean to your character are up to you. Please post pictures and brief descriptions of personalities.
For as long as he can remember, JV has never thought for himself. He has rarely taken action off of his own volition having always been told what to do, led around like a dog. Sure, there were times where he was let off leash but still, he had been given a goal and a purpose. Even when it comes to his religion, he seemingly cannot take a step unless it is the will of the Loa. Perhaps his mother was right and he truly was born with no soul, no fire in him, or perhaps it was her who placed the curse upon him.
Regardless, it was easy for him to be this way being a part of the Voodoo Boys. Between Maman Bridgette and Placide, orders never ran dry, well, until V came along. With their leaders now dead and the Animals tearing apart Pacifica, his Grandmother urged him to flee, to save what little he had left. Now without the gang, he’s having to think for himself for the first time but struggles as it’s a frustrating affair. He’s turned to short term medication, spending what little they have on booze and drugs.
F L A W : Apathy: As a child, JV learned from his mother that he was cursed with no soul and that atonement would only be found in fulfilling the needs of the Loa. As such, he is apathetic towards his actions. Good or evil, he has done whatever is asked of him.
F L A W : Self-Destructive: "Never have I dealt with anything more difficult than my own lost soul."
V I R T U E : Loyalty: JV is loyal to the Loa and his family, what’s left of them at least.
V I R T U E : Modesty: Not all of his actions are negative, though even the good ones are not done by him but by "The will of the Bondye."

Haiti in the 2040’s was a country under assault. Humanity's twisted treatment of mother nature had stirred her into fighting back. The small island nation was battered by a series of horrific storms, with many refugees fleeing to the states. In modern times, the majority of the Caribbean has been lost to the sea along with the lives of anyone who had dared stayed.
Bundled into a leaky dinghy, in the darkest hour of the night, JV could never remember why they left Haiti. Sure, there were the storms but something had occurred, a tipping point between his parents. His father, only referred to as 'the Pagan' by his mother, was nowhere to be seen at the time, leaving the two to island hop around the Caribbean and Central America for the next 3 years. Though never revealing why they left, his mother only ever told him that it was because JV was cursed. A child, born with no soul, incapable of being anything other than a pit of emptiness was used by his mother to get across the border in hope of a better life.
Left like garbage on the other side, she abandoned the child on the steps of the Voodoo Boy Church. "The Loa are the only ones who can grant you salvation, boy." Were some of her last words to him, leaving an ever lasting imprint on him.
Raised in an orphanage by Maman Nadège, JV grew up as an outcast among his own kind. Orphans, in lieu of their own family, tended to band together, becoming brothers and sisters bound by circumstance. Such was not the case for Jean-Vallet. He would oftentimes be caught doing nothing but sitting on his bed, staring out the window. Those around had heard the rumours, that he had been born with no soul, so most were happy to stay clear. Not Maman Nadège though.
A tough but fair woman, she pushed JV forward in childhood and adolescence, finding the young man responded well to direct guidance. He spent most of his time running errands either for her or small things for the Voodoo Boys. As puberty hit, JV shot up in size and stature, quickly daunting most around him. Maman Nadège pushed him into the gym where he took up boxing and weight training. It was there the woman finally saw a spark of personality with the young man taking to the sport like a moth to a flame.
Soon he was a local champ, fighting in rings across Night City and even making a name for himself among the amateur world of boxing. It was during this time he met and impressed Oshun, a beautiful local woman. The two quickly fell in love and the boy's grandmother was happy to see the young woman bring him even further out of his shell. The two wed only a few years after knowing each other.
Boxing didn’t last though, the gang had needs that trumped training and even matches, meaning JV could never qualify professionally and eventually had to give it up. Things became worse after the birth of his son, Oshun was diagnosed with breast cancer, a curable disease in the modern age for those who could afford it. JV couldn’t and despite his hard work for the gang, they never rewarded him well financially. The cancer spread to her lungs and Jean-Vallet could do nothing but watch the love of his life waste away. With her death, any semblance of personality faded as the man became nothing more than a grunt in the gang. Care of his now 3 year old son fell to Maman Nadège, who, as always, took pity on JV.
The final straw came when the Voodoo Boys attempted to use V to achieve their goals of godhood. Like Icarus, the gang flew too close to the sun and were killed when V let loose in their base of operations. JV didn’t even see the famed solo coming his way, a system reset left the man writhing on the floor and the merc vanished without a trace. He was lucky, V killed most of the others but the gang was now crippled. Taking advantage of their long time rival, the Animals swooped in and waged war. It was a vicious and bloody fight but even in the chaos and carnage, Maman Nadège managed to convince JV to flee for the sake of his son and the memory of his wife. Doing so, the man took his grandmother and boy renting an apartment in downtown Heywood.
Having lost almost everything, JV now spends his time and ennies on booze and drugs, for what is he but a man cursed with no soul? It is on one of these nights where he slipped out of his apartment to head to the groceries where he was set upon by Scavs. Drunk and high, he is still able to fight off a few of them but is eventually overpowered.
C Y B E R P S Y C H O
Oshun is a goddess connected to rivers, streams, and water. She is associated with beauty and love with her followers often leaving offerings to her at river beds. Oshun Sanon, JV’s deceased wife has melded with an image of the Goddess. It’s been so long he’s not sure which statement is true, does the God resemble his wife? Or does his wife resemble the God?
Whatever the case may be, she's his opposite, full of energy, love and wisdom. She advises on the will of Bondye, God of all and is constantly out for JV to embrace her.
E M P L O Y M E N T : Ex-Militech “Consultant” (Corpo Spy).
P E R S O N A L I T Y: Elegant, well spoken, an all around perfect gentleman. Kade carries himself with a refined dignity rarely seen outside of Night City's elite. While there's still an air of smug arrogance about him, he seldom deviates from his professional demeanor. He greets everyone with a warm charming smile, and will talk to strangers as if they were lifelong friends. Even when faced with conflict or in less than pleasant company, he still maintains a dignified appearance and speaks to everyone respectfully; aside from the occasional snide remark.
But the devil comes in many forms. Underneath the calm, almost delightful exterior, there is a void where his heart should be. He will lie without breaking eye contact, steal from those who have nothing left, and kill without even a second thought. Truthfully, Kade isn't troubled by any of this. That's not to say he takes pleasure from these things. Rather, he has become numb to such heinous actions as they are just part of the job to him. As long as there are eddies to be made, he's not afraid to get his suit dirty or even bloody. He lives by a very simple motto: “Be polite, be efficient, and have a plan to kill everyone you meet.”
F L A W : Eddies are eddies: As long as the cash is enough to compensate, Kade will sign on to pretty much any job; even the most morally questionable ones.
F L A W : Trust issues: Everyone has their own agenda. Their own goals. There are no “friends” and “family” in this life. Only temporary truces that end the second it’s no longer convenient.
V I R T U E : Finishes what he starts: As stated; trust isn’t something Kade can rely on. So how can he expect anyone else to? That’s why he has worked hard to build a reputation for himself. When he takes a job, it gets done no matter the cost.
V I R T U E : Self-Control: In Kade’s line of work, he can’t afford to let his emotions get the better of him. He has trained himself to keep his mind and body in check. He is able to endure droll or annoying conversations, wait perfectly still in a single spot for hours, he can even go to the store and only buy what is on the list.

H I S T O R Y
In a city of six million all trying to make it big, Kade won the lottery without even playing. The only child of a wealthy businessman and a famous fashion designer, Kade had a silver spoon in his mouth and all the advantages that came with it. The most notable of which was a higher education at Arasaka Academy. Early on he showed great promise and rose to be among the top of his class. Early on he showed a knack for computers and software and focused his studies there. While he showed great promise, he also had a habit of using those skills for some mischief. Hacking vending machines to give out free snacks, spying on faculty emails to get dirt on people, even changing his friend’s grades in the school database. Didn’t really matter as long as he didn’t get caught, and he was very careful not to. The same could not be said about his father.
When he was 15 Kade’s father was arrested for embezzlement, insider trading, fraud, bribery, forgery, pretty much every white-collar crime there was. It was bad enough that his father would now be behind bars for 30 years, but during the trial the media uncovered and aired all the dirty laundry of the Loftons. All sorts of scandals and affairs started coming to light, and pretty soon Kade’s mother was out of a job as well as no one wanted to go near that PR nightmare. With their accounts already emptied from legal fees, lawsuits, and his mother’s out of control drinking, Kade watched as his whole world crumbled. They went from a suite in the city center, to a dingy studio in Watson. He couldn’t afford to attend Arasaka Academy anymore, not that he was even welcomed there. Everyone he once thought to be his friend had turned on him, more than happy to expose his secrets for a few minutes of the spotlight. By the time the media finally moved on, it was just him and his mess of a mother against the world. At least he thought so.
On his 16th birthday. His mother left for her usual trip to the liquor store, and never came back. Kade was now truly alone. And in the dark emptiness of his apartment, he had an epiphany. He was going about this all wrong. Everyone else was playing the game correctly. Lying, backstabbing, exploiting, whatever you had to do to take care of yourself, you did it. Fuck everyone else, the only thing that matters is doing whatever it takes to achieve your goals. This was how you survived in Night City, but Kade didn’t just want to survive; he wanted to thrive.
He started from the bottom in Watson. Truthfully, there were ways to earn a decent living in slums, but only for those who didn’t mind getting their hands dirty. Selling drugs, smuggling weapons, even prostitution would have at least put food on the table. But Kade found there was another commodity that was in higher demand than all of those: information. Everyone from small time gangs to the most prolific fixers were in the business of information. Not just acquiring it, but controlling it. Evidence needed to be found or disposed of. Computers needed to be cloned, wiped, or altered. And loose ends always had to be tied up. The intelligence game was a nasty one with few players ever getting far, but Kade was a natural at it. His knowledge of software and computers allowed him to bypass most security systems with ease. His eloquent speech gained him favor in certain circles and loosened many tongues. And his lack of aversion to violent alternatives meant no secrets could be kept from him.
By the age of 28, his reputation in the intelligence community had reached the point that corporations had started hiring him despite his father’s reputation. While their contracts came with large stacks of eddies, they also came with growing challenges. Enhanced security systems, smarter guards, more prolific targets, the difficulty was cranked up for each of them. Some jobs took days or even weeks to just plan out let alone complete. He still had to purchase and maintain all his own gear, on top of making rent and other expenses. No matter what he just couldn't seem to actually make the kind of eddies he wanted. Until one of the real powerhouses reached out to him with the offer of a lifetime.
Militech wanted to hire him. Full time. He would be on call 24/7. No job could be refused or negotiated. Failure to complete a job would result in immediate termination. However, in exchange he would get everything he dreamed of. A penthouse apartment, any luxury model car he chose, and a hefty amount of eddies on the side for him to do what he wished. All that and then some would be his. He accepted without hesitation.
Kade was finally living the high life. Sure, he had to bug the occasional conference room, blackmail or bribe a politician or two, and make a few nosey people disappear, but that was as routine as another day at the office. Except now he netted twice what his dad brought in back in the day. It was everything he wanted and more. He would have been happy to do this forever. But all good things must come to an end.
Near the end of V's rampage, Kade was given a job to swipe a data drive from a Kang Tao facility. From the beginning things felt off. Hitting a major player like Kang Tao was always risky, but so soon after someone had taken down a high priority transport of theirs? They would be on high alert and shut down tight. Not to mention the press were sniffing around. Last thing he needed was some hotshot photographer catching him near the soon to be crime scene. To top it all off, the drop off he was given was on the outskirts of the city, much further than any other assignment. Everything in his gut told him this was wrong. But he knew the deal. If this is what the board requested, then they would get it.
As expected, things didn’t go exactly as planned. While he was able to infiltrate the facility just fine, exfiltration required lots of bullets, half a pack of cigarettes, and his car being all but totaled. However, he technically pulled it off. And his reward would be waiting for him at the designated drop off: Nothing. There was no one waiting at the drop zone nor a location for him to leave the drive. Militech wouldn’t even answer his calls. He had no further instructions, no transportation, and no one who could help him. Just a long walk home.
By the time he made it back into Night City, Kade found that Militech had completely cut him off. They had frozen all his assets, locked him out of his home, and last but definitely not least, issued a burn notice on him. They claimed he had acted on his own without their sanction and was no longer reliable as a “consultant”. No Corp or intelligence agency would go near an operative who was burned no matter how skilled. His career was effectively over, and he was left with nothing but the clothes on his back. Well, and that datadrive he had pulled from Kang Tao.
Out of a job and home, Kade tried to plan his next move, but quickly found he was still one step behind. All his safe houses and stashes were gone as well. This wasn’t just Militech trying to get rid of him, he had been personally targeted. And whoever it was, they had done a hell of a job in destroying him. He had no connections or resources. Even the datadrive was too hot to sell, assuming he could find anyone with the means to decrypt it. At this point, he wasn’t even sure he had a next move. Until he could come up with something, Kade simply wandered the streets of the city, just barely surviving. It was only a matter of time until the scavs happened upon him. He didn't even put up a fight as they hauled him away. Afterall, what more could they take from him?

A child learns their morals and values early on from their parents or guardians, and Kade took all their lessons to heart. A shapeshifting figure that switches between dear old mom and dad at a whim, but always remains the same: A vessel of selfishness, greed, vanity, and untrusting. They have no care for their son, no regrets at the life they forced him to live, or the thing he had to become. They now only exist to whisper dark intentions in his ear, to help him further justify the despicable actions he takes.
T R I V I A Smokes. Filthy habit, but does wonders on the nerves.
P E R S O N A L I T Y: Bea doesn’t tell the truth, but you’d never really know it.
There's no denying that she possesses an uncanny ability to be incredibly convincing - making you feel like the most important person in the world to her when she needs to, and equally shattering your self-esteem with a few choice words if she so desires, and sometimes, she does. Bea knows what she wants and no obstacle is too great for her, including your feelings.
One of her most remarkable skills is her ability to read people swiftly and astutely. She can decipher intentions and motivations with ease. She learned from the best, and has weaponised the lesson.
Bea yearns for a sense of belonging and acceptance in a world that has continuously rejected and humiliated her, to be truly seen as an artist. Her tales of a rich life serve as a shield, protecting her from the harsh judgments and ridicule that have haunted her past. She takes refuge in the realm of her lies and her fabricated stories, in her characters, and in the monologues she’s memorised to give out as sermons of truth. The more that people believe her lies, the more she feels she can keep them at arm's length.
Ultimately, her disdain for the industry clashes with her true love for performing. She hates that it is tainted, and she still craves the spotlight and the stage more than anything else. She is only truly alive when performing, there is power in holding your audience in the palm of you hand, captivated. If she is at the top of her game, she can break free from the toxicity and pave her own way. Beneath it all, at her very core - she still believes in the beauty of art, in the music, and that the show must go on. But if you asked her? It’s the thought of becoming a nobody, that is a fate she simply cannot bear.
F L A W S: The art of manipulation comes naturally to Bea. Her ability to read people swiftly allows her to discern their desires and vulnerabilities which she exploits to achieve her own ends. Whether it's to gain favour, secure opportunities, or to maintain her lies, she isn't hesitant to use her persuasive charm to manipulate situations and people to her advantage.
Coupled with manipulation is her compulsive lying. Bea's lies range from embellishing her achievements, to crafting entire temporary personas to toy with people.
Bea's penchant for lying extends to the creation of her fantasy of extravagance. She alludes to a life of luxury and wealth. The penthouse apartment, high-profile connections, and glamorous parties… She weaves an enticing web of fabricated reality. However, the truth is far from glamorous. In reality, Bea shares the same struggles as everyone else. Leading a less than modest life in a tiny one-bedroom apartment with her dog, Cookie.
V I R T U E S: First and foremost, Bea's charisma is undeniable. From the moment she enters a room, her presence draws people in. While she often uses it to manipulate, her ability to effortlessly connect with others and leave a lasting impression has been both a gift and a powerful tool in her pursuit of success. Whether on stage or in a casual conversation, she exudes a charisma that commands attention.
Bea has unwavering determination. A force that drives her forward despite the countless obstacles that have come her way. She refuses to back down when faced with setbacks or criticism.

Shelby Montgomery - Bea’s 77-year old neighbour. A retired stand up comic. The closest Bea has to a friend, the two share cocktails, gossip, and war stories quite often. Bea has nothing to gain from Shelby but genuine wisdom, so hides very little from her. Shelby also takes care of Cookie quite often, so has a key to Bea’s place.

Bea is classically trained and can play the piano and guitar exceptionally well. Bea is a natural soprano, but her bionic lungs, as well as her intense practice has allowed her a wider than usual range. Bea is a terrible cook, but can make a mean cocktail. As in, too many and you’ll have a deathly hangover - no matter your regular constitution. She can sew very well, and will often put together her own outfits and mend them too. Bea loves classic literature, and her well worn copies are some of her most prized possessions, her favourite classic novel is Frankenstein.

E M P L O Y M E N T : Rodrigo works for the Trauma Team, having worked his way up from the evacuation squadron when he graduated school to assistant EMT, until recently when he finally made full EMT. While still in school however, he began offering medical assistance to injured members of the Valentinos, where he earned cred as a competent medic. Rodrigo also moonlights as a Ripperdoc (wherein he found his passion) from a makeshift clinic in the gang’s territory during his downtime from work.
P E R S O N A L I T Y: Rodrigo is reserved but not necessarily quiet. Hailing from Latino heritage, he knows when to speak up so he’s heard and isn’t afraid to stand up for himself, others, or what he believes in, but prefers to keep to himself. While he has a large family, and an even larger network of the close-knit community that make up the Valentinos, Rodrigo is socially reserved. He has great affection for his extended family, both blood and not, but he’s never established close relations outside of his mother, her closest sister and one of his cousins.
Introverted, he takes joy in tinkering and has a focused drive that can keep him entertained with his special interests for hours. Likely a contender for undiagnosed ADHD, Rodrigo is rarely still. Even when focused on projects, he fidgets, often shaking his leg, chewing on something, or constantly running a pen through his fingers (he’s no longer allowed the use of clicker pens). As a concentration aid, Rodrigo listens to loud music while working, and will use any utensils at his disposal to beat accompanying rhythms onto free surfaces around him.
Raised by a single mother who has the support of a larger family behind her, he was taught his manners early on, and is respectful and conscientious. He enjoys dark humor though and can become caustic or sarcastic if he’s not watching himself.
Rodrigo feels a level of satisfaction and pride with what he’s accomplished in life and the difference he’s making in the lives he’s able to touch. While critical of the way Mega-Corps run society (particularly when it comes to healthcare), he was able to get to where he is because of their assistance, and he doesn’t believe great levels of change could ever spawn from someone in a position such as his. As such, he devotes himself to doing the small amount he can.
F L A W S: Easily distracted. There are numerous thoughts, fancies, or plans floating around his mind at any one time. He is also likely to get random inspiration from things in his visual field which will lead to innumerable ideas taking shape in his mind. Unless something is truly captivating, it likely will not have his full attention.
Hyperfixation. On the opposite side of the coin, Rodrigo can become hyperfocused, and while this can have a positive aspect, it more often than not manifests in a negative light. When something begins to go wrong, he is prone to spiraling into the worst possible outcomes and once he’s descended into the pits, it takes a herculean effort to get him out.
V I R T U E S: Empathetic. Rodrigo cares about others and is able to understand both where they come from and how they got there from few conversations. This is helpful in his line of work, where it takes a more physical approach, but he can tap into this awareness emotionally as well.
Genuine. An authentic soul, he does not feel the need to display anything other than what is truly expressing itself within him. As such, he tends to believe that others are doing the same, and this coupled with his empathy may lead him to make mistakes in his assumptions of others if they are skilled deceivers.

Originating from humble beginnings, Rodrigo was raised by a single mom in the heart of the Valentinos territory. She shared very little information about his father, other than that it’s best he is out of their lives for good. There were some hints at abuse, but Rodrigo never felt comfortable enough pressing for more information due to the way his mother’s normally congenial nature soured so whenever his father was mentioned. Rodrigo doesn’t even know what the man’s name was, and while curious, he never felt a lack of male representation in his life.
What his mother was open with was her own familial history, using it as a cautionary tale in the hopes of convincing her son to steer clear of gang life. Marisol’s father (Rodrigo’s grandfather) was a member of the Valentinos along with his brother, as well as many other members of their extended family, but it was her father and uncle that tragically lost their lives when she was a young girl due to a rivalry with 6th Street. Marisol’s main hope for her son was that he strive for something greater than what he had been born into. Traumatized by the fact that her father would have been able to survive the incident had there been medical intervention, she urged Rodrigo to pursue medical training.
As a child, Rodrigo adopted his mother’s dream fully and resented family members that were associated with the Valentinos, but their influence and involvement in his life was inescapable. Many had few other options and even he and his mother had to rely on their assistance during the more difficult times. When his mother lost her job and was forced to take on a more active role with the Valentinos, Rodrigo was introduced to both the positives that came with this association, but also the harsher realities of participating in what can at times be a ruthless organization. Paired with the cutthroat nature of life under the Mega-Corporations of Night City, the morally gray reality became clearer than ever.
Many in the Valentinos simply don’t have enough funds to cover adequate insurance and it wasn’t long before Rodrigo was putting his training into action to assist in saving lives. It wasn’t long before this lead to someone reaching out to him for help with their cyberware malfunction, and a fascination with the subject blossomed within him. Rodrigo now owns a small clinic and moonlights as a Ripperdoc during his downtime.

Rodrigo’s cyberpsycho does not have a specific form but instead, is constantly changing (at times having no specific form at all), much like the innumerable thoughts in his mind. It might take the form of a dead patient, what he imagines his father to look like, or any number of different images, human and not. The messages delivered by each manifestation also differ depending on its bringer. One moment he’s a disappointment, not doing enough, and wasting his potential, the next he may be enticed to throw his responsibilities away, dive into the underbelly of what Night City can offer and rake in the eddies.

P E R S O N A L I T Y: Dejah is a woman whose personality can be called “chaotically abstract”. She is abrasive and quite cynical about much but also has a taste for the thrills and rushes that Night City can offer, even if indulging in such can sometimes conflict with her own “morals” such as they are. She likes to think of herself as not so much a hypocrite but just someone with her own weaknesses pushed onto her by a fast moving and decadent city. Dejah is generally very tight-lipped and operates with a strictly business attitude, of course she does occasionally find those she considers worth her time and is willing to open up - the trick is them being able to put up with her.
While civil enough to those she is willing to place assurance in Dejah can be a challenge to deal with, mostly due to her sarcastic, barbing remarks and attitude and her rather unstable state of mind which can make her unpredictable at times. Dejah is severely afflicted with bipolar disorder as well as deep set PTSD which at times causes her to hear voices, sometimes hallucinate, and suffer vivid night terrors. When simply shaking it off or medication do not do the trick she resorts to alcohol and narcotics to send herself into a stupor. Or a good braindance to amp up positive stimulation.
Dejah has a strong loathing of corporations and the wealthy in general, her choice in contract kills nearly always against the elites of Night City and-or those close to them. She also never misses a chance to takes shots at or hoodwink the police due to them obviously being little more than a private militia to uphold the predatory status quo that keeps the masses in the gutters while preserving the power of the privileged minority. Often Dejah’s violent impulses can carry her to do unspeakable things to those she holds such animosity for - a demon she has to live with.
Dejah always strives to do the best in whatever she sets out to do while fighting off what plagues her mind and soul. Despite her fractured psyche, her selfish desire for cheap gratification and pleasure, and her fits of anger she likes to think that somewhere inside is a decent individual that has not totally succumbed to the cancers of Night City.
F L A W :Violent Tendencies - Dejah can when provoked, and when not, fly into violent rages committing ruthless acts and behaving recklessly.
F L A W :Paranoia - Dejah suffers from bouts of severe paranoia, usually when dealing with unknowns amid contracts and when crossing unusual people outside of “business”. This makes her often difficult to work with as a newcomer and encourages her to commit acts of treachery as a way of “beating to the punch”.
V I R T U E :Sympathetic to the Downtrodden - Growing up in the streets has made Dejah all too aware of the unfairness of the system and has ensured she has a comparably softer side towards those who are less fortunate.
V I R T U E :Diligent - Dejah puts full effort into anything she does being the driven individual that she is. “Do it right or do not bother.”

H I S T O R Y
Dejah is the “love child” of a ranking member of the Tyger Claws and a prostitute from Japantown with whom the man had regular relations with. Despite the circumstances of her conception and birth Dejah’s father did not abandon she and her mother, seeing them set up with a decent apartment and under the protection of the Tyger Claws. Along with a home and protected status Dejah’s father ensured that Dejah, her mother, and Dejah’s half sister Banira lived comfortably.
Dejah was seven years old when she lost everything. One night she awoke to the smell of smoke, coughing and gasping as she clumb from her bed. Staggering out into the hall she was met with a blinding orange light, fire danced across the floor and raced up the walls curling the wallpaper and scorching everything black. Dejah could barely see and her lungs filled with smoke as she struggled to call out to her mother and sister. She tried to run out the front door only to find it jammed, the windows were all too high to jump from and fire escape was blocked with rubble. Dejah rasped and screeched for help until Banira suddenly emerged through the flames, their mother nowhere to be seen. The two raced to the front door, Dejah’s older sister managing to break the door open just as the ceiling began to crumble down - Dejah slipping through while Banira was knocked to the floor and buried under debris. Banira shouted for Dejah to help pull her free, to grab her by the wrists and pull so she could slide her legs from under the smoldering rubble. Dejah was transfixed by the inferno that swallowed up their home as more of the ceiling broke apart and began raining down all around. Her heart raced and her body tingled with a rolling rush of terror that she remembers to this day. Overcome by fear Dejah turned and ran - she ran and did not look back. Banira’s despaired shouts turned to shrieks of agony that followed Dejah all the way down the stairs as she fled. Dejah could still here the screams when the firemen and rescuers showed up to curtail the fire, she could still here them at the hospital later that night and she heard them in the dreams of the long sleep she endured after the fire.
Twenty years later Dejah lives on but deeply scarred by the loss of her family. The severe mental and emotional trauma of the fire and the deaths of her loved ones caused her to suffer post traumatic stress having slipped into a coma for over a week after the event. Dejah would eventually be taken in by Tadashi Ukita, a close friend of her father whom Dejah learned had also perished in the fire that terrible night having apparently came over late to see she and Banira’s mother. The Tyger Claws were convinced the fire was no accident and that a rival had been responsible for the tragedy but no culprit was ever found. Tadashi raised Dejah as best he could and taught her how to shoot and trained her in martial arts, by age seventeen she had become a lethal individual. Despite having a new home and people to look after her Dejah never truly healed, remaining plagued with night terrors, sometimes manic episodes, and hearing voices on her worst of nights. Still, she did the best she could and always pushed to try and keep herself from truly going over the edge.
In 2067 Dejah would leave the Tyger Claws behind after the murder of Lizzie Borden and the following riots and rise of the Mox. Dejah had for a long time been aware of the ruthless streaks of many of the Tyger Claws, notably the lower ranking and younger male members. That said the events surrounding the death of Borden and the aftermath showed her just how cruel the Tyger Claws could be. Despite never actually being a member of the gang many members saw Dejah’s departure as a betrayal and for some time she had to lay low far away from Japantown. Eventually with the assurances of Tadashi she would return albeit outside of the Tyger Claws’ immediate sphere so to speak. To survive she employed herself as a contract killer with the help of Tadashi setting up several contracts outside of the gang scene - granted the choice targets’ deaths would conveniently be a benefit to the Tyger Claws.
Eventually she made enough of a name for herself that Dejah would be sought out by various individuals to carry out assassinations for good money. Dejah has always made a point of staying out of the gang rivalries and only going after notably rich targets - at the very least the beavers that dwell within the corporate run neighborhoods. Dejah has always had a deep loathing for the wealthy in Night City, the privileged elites that control the puppet strings and hoard the wealth while standing atop the millions of downtrodden and corpses they have built their empires on. Those that have forced the city into a state of poverty and gang warfare while they lounge about in their towers of ivory and diamond. This method of operations has of course ensured that Dejah has a bounty on her head and more than once over the years has she had to fend off hitmen and scrub teams out for her blood. This of course only motivates her to continue her paid campaign against the elites while living a fast live of narcotics, alcohol, sex, and other hedonistic ventures all while fighting to keep from going completely off the cliff.

Dejah will never forget, Dejah will never stop seeing her. Banira - the half-sister that Dejah abandoned, running away and leaving her to be burned alive in the fire. The fire that Banira had saved Dejah from Dejah then sacrificed her half-sister in those same flames. That guilt never has left. It only grows worse as the years pass and as the years pass the visions only continue to come. Sometimes they accuse, other times they weep, and other times they tell Dejah to kill and to kill slow. Dejah wants the voices and the terrifying nightmares to stop, for the guilt to melt away. But none of it will ever leave… will it?
Name: Emelia Steel Callsign: Ember Age: 27 Height: 5’2” Weight: 63 kg
EMPLOYMENT:
Mercenary. Demolitions expert
PERSONALITY:
Ember is most likely the happiest person in all of Night City. Bubbly and outgoing, her overly cheery demeanor is persistent every hour of every day regardless of the situation. Against the dreary and soul crushing atmosphere of the city, Ember is a ball of ecstatic sunshine. She'll jump at the chance to meet new people, get excited at the smallest things, and overall just be down to have a good time.
This all might seem like a breath of fresh air compared to some of the more grumpy residents of NC, a genuinely delightful soul among the masses. But the longer she's around the more apparent it becomes; Ember is unhinged. She'll laugh as she demolishes a building like it was a joke. Grin ear to ear while she guns people down. Sometimes she even claps at deadly explosions as though they were fireworks lighting up the night. She's not completely crazy. Not yet at least. She's just tired of holding back who she is. No more pretending she doesn't find enjoyment in what she's doing. Ember just wants to be herself and have fun. Though her idea of fun does seem to involve C4 more often than not.
FLAW: Airhead - Ember's not dumb, just selectively smart.
FLAW: Impulse control - Ember has only done what she's been told her whole life. Now that she's able to live how she wants, she has a habit of doing whatever comes to mind.
VIRTUE: Optimistic - Life has not been easy for Ember, she has always come out on top. She can't quite explain it, but things just have always had a habit of working out in the end.
VIRTUE: Fearless - No matter the situation. No matter the stakes or danger, Ember will go about her business unfazed. She would walk into hell with a skip in her step and whistling a happy tune.

HISTORY
Growing up in SoCal, Emelia was the daughter of two military veterans. Their time in the service had left them bitter and harsh people, and even worse parents. They enforced a strict set of rules, instituted a tight daily schedule, and monitored Emelia’s every move. They had full control over her. Emelia's only hobby and escape from this authoritarian life was tinkering. During late hours in the night when her parents were asleep, she would "borrow" some of the numerous grenades and guns her parents had and tinker with them. She learned how every bit and part worked, how to maintain and improve them, and also how to reproduce them. In addition, she also began crafting her own devices.
In 2069, after 18 years of living in this prison, Emelia thought she would finally be free, but her parents had other plans. SoCal had just rejoined the NUSA and they were on the brink of war with the other free states; exactly what they had been raising her for. She was practically forced to enlist, and once she completed basic training, was immediately sent to active duty.
Due to her knowledge of tinkering, she was assigned to an engineering unit specializing in demolitions. They would be sent all over the west coast usually to assist in assaulting key structures or as a counter to enemy heavy vehicle units. Supplies were severely limited in the field. Emelia and her team had to make due with what they could scrounge, but even with second hand and used parts she was able to craft high grade explosives and charges. Thanks to her uncanny crafting ability, Emelia’s unit saw much success in their deployments. They began to grow closer overtime; a bond forged in the heat of battle. They even gave themselves matching tattoos of their unofficial mascot; a crudely drawn cartoon bomb that many joked was the real person giving orders.
Despite these friendships, Emelia was still struggling to maintain her sanity. She was still fighting a war she didn’t want to be in for a government she didn’t believe in. Every day weighed on her psyche, the destruction and death she was a part of slowly eating away at her mind until it all finally came apart at the Battle of Ridgecrest. The bloodiest battle in the entire war. 3,078 lives were lost in a single day, and among them were Emelia’s unit. The carnage was more than she could handle, and though she somehow survived, everyone she had grown close too was dead. In fact, reports coming in seemed to think she had also perished alongside them. She could have returned. Radioed into HQ and let them know she had made it out. But instead, she decided to take this opportunity and run. Emelia Steel would stay dead, while Ember rose from the ashes.
Knowing she couldn’t stay in SoCal, Ember fled to the nearest place she could hide; Night City. The war had ended by the time she arrived, and though she might have had a place among the 6th Street, she chose to strike it out on her own. Of course, she really only had the skill set to take up the mercenary life, but this strangely did not bother Ember in the slightest. In fact, she was happy! For the first time, she was on her own. No more rules. No more restrictions. She didn’t have to wear a mask for anyone’s approval. She could finally do things for herself. Be herself. Sure, life as a merc had some similarities to the military, but now she only fought when she wanted to. She could believe in the mayhem she was creating because it was for her.
