MZ-33, Protocol Droid
29 pts (Light-Side)

"I am MZ-33. I work for the Jedi. I was working for General Mozh." That wasn't entirely true. The truth would have been to say they work for the Republic. That was their true mistress. But now was not the time to get into semantics.

"Follow me." Emzie led the way further into the facility. Could they leave with the Commander? They didn't tire as humans did. They could carry him forever. Emzie had no moral compunctions about leaving the clone. Emzie's morals didn't work like that. Besides, he had ordered them. That was enough not to argue the matter.

Emzie walked for a ways, following the path their map gave them. Until they found the central control room. There were droids here, but none of them were battle droids; they barely even noticed their presence.

"I assume the battle droids have already all been taken out of commission." They turned to the Commander. "The desk there is where we can start the sequence for self-destruct." Emzie said and pulled up a screen on their holo-projector for the Commander to see. It had two code series. The first was to get the system ready. The second was to start the countdown.

Commander Firtick

28 pts (Light-Side)

"The Jedi will want something of the General's. I don't think you can carry her and Commander Blake. But maybe her lightsaber," Firtick suggested. They knew that destroying the facility like this would most likely obliterate the bodies within. It would become a mass grave. They would get to sleep with their brothers. General Mozh would, according to the Jedi, become one with the Force. They all would. Clones didn't have the same burial customs, but they knew that the Jedi had a special ceremony - something of the General would be nice for that. And probably nice for Commander Blake too.

Firtick then removed their helmet, and placed it on Commander Blake's unconscious body. "For the clones," they told Emzie. That one helmet could represent them all. They memorized the codes that Emzie was displaying. They approached the desk. None of the droids moved to stop them. Firtick typed in the code to arm the system. "It's been an honor, trooper. Now go. I know what to do." Firtick began to type in the second code, but they didn't finish it - and they wouldn't, not until they saw Emzie leave.

"I will get it on my way past. The droids seem to be cleared out, so my path should be clear." Emzie left. They did not look back. There was no reason to. They trusted Commander Firtick to do their duty. Carrying Raynor did not tire them. He was heavy, maybe at the limit of Emzie's capacity, but not so heavy as to slow them down.

As they passed the General, they stopped and found the lightsaber. Adding it to the small compartment where the strange droid's lightsaber was stored. Emzie was not concerned that they'd be mixed up. Then they continued out of the building.

Outside the building, Emzie moved as quickly as they could. They were putting distance between themself and the factory, heading back for the ship that had the bacta tank. With some care, Emzie placed Commander Raynor back into the bacta tank. They found themselves hoping he would survive—a sliver of hope for the man who had almost killed himself to serve the Republic. Emzie could respect that.

The detonation shook the ship Emzie and Commander Raynor were inside of, sending tiny spider-webs of cracks through the glass of the bacta tank, but by some miracle it held. Emzie would be able to confirm on their scopes that the droid factory had been completely destroyed. The flashing lights of battle in orbit around the planet continued, but the sounds did not reach them - all they would hear was the occasional crash of burning debris, falling from the sky. The mission was concluded here. The casualties had been many. The cost was high.

But for the Republic, they would pay any price.

Raynor Blake, Jedi Knight

22 pts (Light-Side)

Raynor had never wanted a padawan.

He had gotten used to Emzie, and had become fond of the droid. The droid was easy to trick, and didn't seem to question where he would disappear to for long periods of time. He hadn't told Emzie about his family yet - and he never planned on doing so. It burdened him to keep that secret, but he knew that the Jedi Order would exile him if they knew. He would not be allowed to fight for the Republic. He would not be allowed to save innocent lives, all because he loved someone.

But Kaylelia was harder to fool. It was harder to cancel a training session to go over to Colbol Corp HQ. He was seeing his family less and less, and it was like they were sand slipping between his fingers. He knew that he shouldn't, but he did blame Kaylelia for it. If she were a better Jedi, she wouldn't need him.

So this is how he found himself in a shuttle heading over to the Senate building, staring at his best friend (Emzie) and his padawan, Kaylelia. The data pad containing the summary of the briefing from the Jedi Council was in front of them. They had been happy with Raynor's work on the Colbol Corp job earlier in the war, and they knew Emzie was special as droids went, so the trio had been sent to go investigate the Senator's murder. "Alright, Kaylelia, what do you make of it?" Raynor asked, wanting to know her first impressions. He'd ask Emzie second. He figured Emzie would give the more detailed and logical answer, whereas Kaylelia could draw upon the Force and her intuition.

Padawan, Kaylelia Stymerr

Kaylelia sat across from her newly assigned master Raynor, at the start of the war her master had been sent off to fight in the First Battle of Geonosis. He chose to leave her behind and told her to focus more on her training, two hundred and twelve of them died that day along with her master. She then was assigned another master who had also died when their ship was ambushed by a fleet of Separatists ships had attacked, only her and a small handful of clones managed to escape and survived. Now she had been assigned to Raynor, as she looked over the data pad going over the details that the Jedi Council had sent them. Her personal droid BD-10 would make it's way over towards MZ-33 tilting it's head slightly while looking up at it's fellow droid. "Bwooep!" It beeped out in droidspeak.

Kaylelia's attention quickly turned towards Raynor asking what she thought about the murdered senator by the name of Brijes Davibroa a popular senator from one of the Core Worlds had been murdered by his own translation droid in the middle of the senate floor. She didn't really like the politics of the Galactic Senate all that much really as she thought a little bit. "It could be that the Seppies had managed to reprogram it to kill the senator, or maybe he had made an enemy of a fellow senator and wanted him killed or he owed money to some Hutt he crossed. Or maybe a disgruntled assistant or intern managed to do it after he fired them and wanted revenge." Kaylelia suggested giving her opinion why it might have happened.

Emzie looked down at the BD unit. "Bwooep." They responded in kind. Emzie continued on in Droidspeak, "Have you been kept busy?" A droid with a purpose was a happy droid. Not that the BD unit probably had anything resembling emotions. Emzie liked to believe they didn't, but even that was an emotion they ignored. They had more than most. Emzie had opinions. Though, they kept those mostly to themselves and occasionally Raynor. Such opinions included ones about the mission Raynor had been assigned.

Emzie had, of course, read the documentation about the situation. They knew the droid couldn't have done that on its own. Even Emzie couldn't do that on their own. And their programming had room for firing a blaster at actual flesh and blood types. All cases basically required them to be attacking one of Emzie's charges. Not to forget that Raynor had made a point of quietly teaching Emzie how to use a lightsaber.

Raynor Blake, Jedi Knight

22 pts (Light-Side)

Raynor nodded, hearing Kaylelia's ideas. They were all sound. But that was not the point of this exercise. So instead of offering her praise, her offered her points of contention. "But there was no evidence found in the report of Separatist tampering. Or any tampering of any kind, be it from another politician or a Hutt or an intern," Raynor pointed out. "Post-mortem analysis of the droid showed no foreign code or other reasons for the droid to go rogue." But even as he said it, his thoughts were somewhat of alignment with Kay's. This wasn't some random accident. There was a motive here, one that only a sentient species could have - certainly not a droid.

"Emzie, what do you make of it?" Raynor asked. The shuttle landed at the Senate Building, where a small delegation of troopers awaited them. Security had been heightened since the Senator's murder, and the Clone Troops had been called in. Ordinarily, droids might've filled this function - or even other members of the Republic military - but the Senate had specifically requested some of the finest Clone Troopers at hand. Members of the 501st were currently working security duty. They'd be there to escort the trio around and assist in the investigation.

Raynor was NOT looking forward to that - he didn't need even more people breathing down his neck.

Padawan, Kaylelia Stymerr

Kaylelia nodded slightly she wouldn't be sure really at all really until they were there at the scene of the crime. "Something else then must have caused it to go rogue or the droid was there at the wrong place at the time of the murder." Kaylelia said, she did have she turned to her master before speaking up once more. "I have a force echo ability that I could use once we are at the scene that would be useful." Kaylelia told him it could help with the investigation.

The moment that their shuttle had landed BD-10 quickly crawled its way up onto her shoulder and looked back at MZ as the droid made a beeping sound and nodded it's little head. Kaylelia gently patted the droid and gave it a slight smile as she got up from where she was seated and headed off of the boarding ramp and met with the Clone Troopers that awaited them all. "Good afternoon I am Kayleila we are here to assist with the murder investigation." She said to them while she waited for her master and MZ to get off.

"Killing of flesh and blood should not have been within the parameters of that droid." Emzie said. They didn't like the situation. They followed Kayleila out of the ship taking in the area around them quickly and then turning their attention to the Clone Troopers.

The possibility that the droid was being used as a scapegoat came to Emzie's mind. Kayleila had a point about the droid having been there are the wrong time. They'd keep that in mind for now. Something to remember but not rely on as the option. Keeping options was ideal.
