Well, I've had different experiences with media from comics and the old and new cartoons. Which have been very different. It's like when it comes to comics you get mutants into different universes and looks. But the cartoons stay the same and you never see all who belong to X-Men. Yeah, I did notice the Xmen in the middle of a war to help humans but also themselves. And even fighting people in space.
Well, they do have certain ones that represent the Xmen. And they are considered mentors and professors. (Hehe well I imagine he would)
