Good evening all! Kicking about running a Warhammer game and wanted a head-count before I start planning anything drastic.

The idea is this. Set in the Imperium's periphery where a Xenos threat from beyond known space has assaulted a valuable Hive World, a number of Chapters have responded with piecemeal forces to reinforce what PDF and Astra Militarum forces are in the region. You would apply as these fragments of Chapters, by and large being of Company strength and less, playing both their strategic role on the planetary campaign to rid the system of the Xenos scum and the personal, character roles of Astartes from your Chapter.

The actual post-by-post results from engagements will, by and large, be a consensus between player and GM on what is reasonable to achieve.

So, who wants to fight and die for the Emperor of Mankind?

@Thayr Is knowledge of the rules of WH40K necessary? I do play WH-AOS. I own two Orruk armies: Kruleboyz and Ironjawz. I am interested in starting a WH40K army, but haven't yet. My curiosity in this genre is sufficient to motivate me to read and study the units you are talking about. I also happen to have 21 years personal experience in the US Army serving in the Infantry. So I do understand both real world tactics and gaming tactics.

I'd say that wikipedia knowledge - that is, what is a bolter, what does it do, qhat is a hive city, what is the state of the Imperium and language its citizens mind use - would generally be sufficient to play. Knowing the rules themselves for the actual tabletop is less needed.

Homebrews and Official Chapters would both be highly encouraged! I'm curious though on the idea of a Night Lords successor - or rather, really, a Blackshield warband successor since if they're Loyalist they'd be that. Bear in mind that if you do run that, I would vastly prefer if the origin itself is known as murky or unknown, but there would be underlying proclivities and preferences that would point to but not necessarily declare them to be of that gene-stock.

Then again I'm also curious if you mean a Primaris Chapter raised with Night Lords gene-stock. Primaris and Firstborn would both be likely present in generally even numbers.

That said, seeing as we have three interested, I'm going to start writing up an opening post for a thread as well as an application format. Those interested, by all means feel free to post your roughdraft ideas, histories, ships and assets available, so on. Bear in mind again that these will be Company strength or less for your assets, so a Battle Barge is less likely, a Strike Cruiser more so, etc.

After Space Marine 2 came out I've been itching for some 40k roleplay. You can count me in.
