I am I, and yet I'm something more, because I feel that I am he as well: in other words, I am my father.

Adler says, “In fact, if we were to ask ourselves who is the strongest person in our culture, the logical answer would be, the baby. The baby rules and cannot be dominated.” The baby rules over the adults with his weakness. And it is because of this weakness that no one can control him.

"At the very least we are talking about a moral outrage. Thus we can expect our religious leaders and our great humanitarian figures to cry out against this waste and the needless deaths around the world that result. But do any religious leaders speak out? No. Quite the contrary, they join the chorus. They promote ‘What Would Jesus Drive?’ As if they have forgotten that what Jesus would drive is the false prophets and fearmongers out of the temple."

”Oh, woe, woe, woe! If only the fortieth day would come sooner: to hear the tearful voices above me, the wailing of my spouse and the quiet weeping of my children!...”

“Well, look what he's weeping about: they'll stuff their faces with kutya and leave. Ah, if only someone would wake up!”

“Anger is just anger. It isn’t good. It isn’t bad. It just is. What you do with it is what matters. It’s like anything else. You can use it to build or to destroy. You just have to make the choice.“

“Constructive anger,” the demon said, her voice dripping sarcasm.

“Also known as passion,” I said quietly. “Passion has overthrown tyrants and freed prisoners and slaves. Passion has brought justice where there was savagery. Passion has created freedom where there was nothing but fear. Passion has helped souls rise from the ashes of their horrible lives and build something better, stronger, more beautiful.”

@Isabel LaSainte, I really enjoy your quote about anger, especially since so many (myself included) who’ve been brought up with the idea to feel shame towards having anger.

Thank you! That is one of the main reasons it is my favorite quote. When I read the words it was really the first time I considered anger in a positive light. That the outrage is okay, but the action that follows it to be more important than recognizing itself. For me that takes the form of poetry, to make art from the emotions instead of fear my own reaction.
