I thought they developed counter measures to jam the beaming technology? Or at least the Wraith did.

Nukes are only fun when they've got an atmosphere to send a shockwave through. In zero-atmo, all they do is act like a regular dirty bomb, and most spaceships are expected (and designed) to handle far stronger radiation.

A beaming block is only so strong. Given time, it can be worked past. Especially when the source tech is primitive. (wraith had ancient-level tech, whereas most others have goa'uld-level)

Beams don't go past shields either, however at the battle of the supergate they were going to use rings to beam nukes across however they were raped before this happened.

You realize nukes aren't as effective in space as they are in orbit... riiiighhhtttt? The best way to use nukes in space combat is by what the Daedalus perfects and beams nukes aboard enemy ships.

Depends what the skill set is, and why they would be appointed to this vessel rather than an SG-ground team. More than likely you would have to be from some form of allied world.

Does anyone know if the Tolan race ever returned? I believe they were all wiped out but I may be mistaken...

There were the people from Dr. Quinn's planet. I can't remember their dam name though...

Tollan never returned.

Dr.Quinn, the Langarians wouldn't send anyone aboard. Never in a month of sundays, especially with the incident with how the Destiny Crew and the folk from the SGC took over the gate facility in a bid to dial the gate.

Oh heck yes. I liked the idea but never understood how shields that withstand a star can't handle weapons fire....

different purposes. Stars just have a lot of heat and gravity. They do not put localized stress on the shields. Besides, they've probably got insane amounts of redundancy on the stellar shielding.

The Destiny had energy converters that channelled the stars power into the ship. It wasn't that they were withstanding the star, it was absorbing it.
