This game is loosely based on Robotech and Macross. I have blended together some aspects of both to suit my personal imaginary storyline and continuity. I borrow most heavily from the Robotech Novel series by Jack McKinney, as well as my own personal take on the timeline I have worked on.

There are elements from both continuities blended together to suit my interests, and I have tried to make something imaginative and different here, which I hope people will enjoy. While it does feature anthropomorphic characters, I have tried to make them feel part of the canon and suit the setting, and have tried to make them interesting and varied, as much as the existing races and characters already are.

The game itself will be a blend of drama, action and sci-fi discovery, as well as good plain old fun. After all, that's why we roleplay in the first place.

I'll have a sheet up soon!
Just noticed your link says 'VF-1 Phoenix' whereas it should be VF-0, if I'm not mistaken. I assume that the SV-51 and 52 are close enough in appearance/design that there's no need for a hard distinction; that and there's very limited info on the SV-52 anyhow. I did, however, manage to find these. Not sure if the slight differences in design would be found in all SV-52s or are exclusive to this SV-52y variant. The wings are unique, especially the sets of 'tips' on the end. In Battroid mode, the head's also a bit different.

That's intentional - I am exceedingly familiar with Macross and know the VF-1 back to front. I like the design of the Vf-0 though, so I wanted to use it as one of the main fighters instead of as a prototype. The Sv-51 and the VF-0 would have been visually virtually identical in this setting, but not had the space - related adaptations that full on production variable fighters have.

Oh, I see; so we're taking the designs from the series and tweaking them a tad to suit our needs in this story. Works for me!
Now to get thinking on my character... Are we still going with Macross Zero's U.N./Anti-U.N conflict prior to the RP? Or are the superpowers you mention supposed to be ambiguous?

The Anti-UN/UN Conflict from Macross Zero and the wider Macross Storyline is part of the plot, yes - it occurred around the same time-frame, and was the proving element for the early variable fighter designs, used in secret as the VF-0 and SV-51, alongside robotechnology-enhanced versions of existing fighters.
There would have been some form of similar event to Macross Zero, maybe even with the Bird Human, but I'm not sure how it relates to things yet - but then, maybe even the authorities aren't sure of that yet either?

That was probably the last major conflict between the two powers, as it occurred in 2009, after that things settled down into a relative peace, and the Anti-UN forces disbanded and became part of the UN Forces, which is why you have the mass-production SV-52 alongside the VF-1

lots of derp on my end, my apologies.

Name: Michael Nawlin
Age: 23
Race: Sentinel
Species: Felness

Appearance: 6'2'' male grey tiger anthro with a swimmers build and a black crew cut. rather unremarkable except for heterochromas eyes L: blue, R: green. (for a visual, think a cross between- minus the attitude and
a little older and minus the guitar. found a lot of porn and nearly porn on this search......)

Personal Info: Mike is an easy going calm individual that appreciates music, writing, and a good cider off duty. Never one to start an altercation and first to attempt to defuse situations, he has been known to have done his fair share of fighting. in battle however mike is a ruthless pilot not above cheating, or outright pummeling the enemy into submission.

Personal History: As a space born Mike never had a home planet and was constantly on the move. the oldest in a family of four he had to watch over his younger sister, as his parents, while loving a supportive, had long and odd hours as a engineer, and security chief. over all his child hood was normal, he made friends, and had bullies as much as many planet born children, but being on a mixed species craft he had to deal with the subtle cultural undertones of unease with many of his Vulfar friends and classmates, that had been imposed by their parents. in the end mike was selected to be a mecha pilot and showed enough dexterity and adaptive thinking to be assigned to a SV-VIII Beta Fighter

Mecha: SV-VIII Beta Fighter

Weapons and equipment: Felness/Vulfar arms hunter 10mm pistol

Most of it posted okay, but you need to check your image links - they're just showing the link text, instead of the image. Never Mind. Also, you might want to add some line-spacing between your titles to allow things to read easier. In terms of the info though, that's all fine and I have no probs accepting him :)
I'll add a list of confirmed characters to the OP this evening. And do my own character(s)!

Also, I should note before I forget: Cross-training will be available later on, so non-human characters may end up piloting human mecha and vice-versa. And you don't always have to stick with the same machine. There may be some missions where you might be assigned a different one for whatever reason, or if yours is damaged or otherwise unavailable.

So, do I have this straight? The Tirolians are the robot masters, and the ones left in the core worlds are the ones left behind when most of the empire ran off after the macross? They used to be top dogs in the core worlds, but now they're just as boned as the rest with the invid invasion.

I'm wondering why those particular tirolians were left behind? I'm getting some interesting ideas for character from these guys.

You've got the main jist of it. The Robotech masters were Tirolian, and sort of an arrogant and selfish 'ruling class'. They left with the people they decided they wanted with the - their soldiers and various other people they decided were worthwhile - and abandoned the rest of the population on Tirol as they had no use for them. For whatever reason, they didn't meet their 'standards'.
They're all that's left behind, and as far as the Regent is concerned, they're just as deserving of blame as the Masters.

Ah, OK, gotcha. So the ones left behind were kind of a down-trodden lower class? I'm assuming that there would have been some military units left behind for whatever reason.

Sorry for the 20 questions routine, I'm just trying to work out a background for this embryonic character idea ^^;

Working on my character now. I'm thinking of loosely basing her off of the female voice in this trailer, though it's really just inspiration. Love what you've done though, Silver, making Macross understandable for someone like me who's only ever seen three mecha anime; Evangelion, Infinite Stratos (lol) and Valvrave, and not a single episode of Macross/Robotech (too many episodes to watch, not enough time).

You can expect it to be done by the end of the evening. Since exams are coming up, I don't have much homework and I'm pretty confident on my knowledge of the subjects, giving me a lot of time to work. ;)

Like I said in the Interest Check I'll see what I can do about setting up a CS. It'll take a good while for me to set one up since I have to get other promises I've made before this one done with. Keys have fingers crossed, yeh?

(too many episodes to watch, not enough time).

I understand that problem - people keep recommending me things to watch, but there aren't enough hours in the day to catch up, and still do all the stuff I need to do anyway.
If you've got any time to spare watching any of them though - and I know that a 20+ episode TV series is a lot to manage - then I'd recommend Macross Plus. It's a 4-episode OAV series, of 40-minute episodes each, which means you can split them up or marathon them either way.
It was the first anime I ever bought, and still my favourite one. The music, story and characters are all pretty great and pretty well-realized for a 4-episode 'series', and it's quite a rollercoaster combo of action and emotional drama. There's a good combination of quiet dramatic moments of character reflection, that just make the action sequences that much more impressive when they come. The music is also fantastic too - Yoko Kanno FTW - and emphasises everything going on well.
It doesn't have all the background of the universe crammed in, but with what I've given you in the OOC here you won't feel too lost, and it's enjoyable enough anyway. Plus, it'll really show you exactly how the mecha can move and fight in this 'verse too.

And don't worry about rushing the characters or anything - I prefer my RP's to run kind of sedately anyway. I won't be starting until people get their characters up (including me...!) so take your time. Good to hear that you have some ideas though, and I look forward to seeing them. Same for you too, Cart!

Just one question before I continue working on the character (I've decided against going with four, it would be a bit too much for this type of game); how long has it been since SDF re-appeared and how long was the journey?

Also, I'll take a look at the OVA series, thanks for the recommendation!

Hyperspace fold travel is apparently instantaneous to the traveller, at least with these drives, so as far as the crew and anyone they're meeting knows, they appeared only a few moments after they left. They've been at Tirol for only a couple of weeks, while things are being straightened out in the wake of the big battle, so long enough for people to have seen and - in some cases - got to know their new alien allies, but not long enough to really mingle with them fully.
Pretty much our first posts IC will be all meeting up before the big good bye, I'm thinking, and we embark off on our crusade.

Also, I'll take a look at the OVA series, thanks for the recommendation!

I hope you enjoy them!

I can understand what you mean about four characters - I'm going to do two, and that already seems like hard work!

Name: Mino Coralstar
Age: 26
Race: Sentinel
Species: Selachai

Appearance: Mino’s body is primarily a light, faded brown, with a broad, white stripe down the belly and along the underside of the tail, with perfect, black stripes on the tip of each fin and fingertip. Beneath both eyes are three, perfectly symmetrical, white dots that he swears up and down are completely natural. Not particularly muscular, but a low amount of body fat at least gives the illusion that he spends most of his time working at staying in shape. His tail seems to have grown for a body a foot taller and can barely be kept out of the way. He wears a few of his discarded teeth on a necklace.
doodle

Personal Info: It’s no secret that being forced to live in a toxic environment with no end in sight has made Mino into a stressed, frustrated individual. He recognizes the value of being polite, but his temper is easily set off by anyone who pushes his buttons. The anger is generally short-lived and limited to abrasive shouting, but that shouting can quickly turn into biting.

Personal History: Mino was there to see what he felt to be the destruction of his homeworld. His ultimate goal is to live to see his home reclaimed, but he doesn’t have any ambitions beyond that. His skills with a variable fighter are just above average and, while not particularly clever, his willpower and quick reflexes have allowed him to survive quite a few losing battles.

Mecha: SV-VII (When not impractical, this switches over to the SV-X instead.)

Weapons and equipment:
APDW2: It’s a PDW that shoots bullets that can actually cover distance underwater. Like little torpedoes.

A tomahawk with a hammer on the back end and a serrated edge and spike on the top.

Personal Theme: So So Bad
”'Retreat' is just another way of saying 'attack'!”

Here she is! Please tell me if there are any problems. For reference, the italics aren't me. I'm honestly at a loss to whom it could be. :
Name: Rita Suzuki (possibly an assumed pseudonym)
As far as you're concerned, it is my real name.

Age: 22

Race: Human

Species: Human
Boy, way to be redundant.

Appearance: Of a very light build, though not too skinny that it looks like she has a medical problem. Not very muscular.

Personal History: Rita has an extremely vague history. There are no official records of parents or legal guardians and even the bare detail of how she got onto Macross is obscure. Every single moment from her birth to the re-appearance of SDF is under a shroud of mystery, with not a single record appearing until during a scheduled maintenance of the record keeping hardware was made. After a few hours, the maintenance ended, but a strange file was found. A record that lacked a signature described a girl known as Rita Suzuki was found, detailing a military service and basic profile. Of note; the date of entry into service section and pre-service background section was corrupt, inciting suspicion. However, after a few investigations, the girl was indeed found in a Variable Fighter unit.
Her comrades said she had been introduced to them by an apparent superior, though no record of this superior, an enigmatic Commander Volikov, was ever found. After this, suspicions were high, and Rita only managed to remain with the unit after rigorous aptitude testing, where she proved to be highly adept at using at least three varieties of Variable Fighter. After giving a date of entry into service (which, bizarrely, was unable of registering into the records, along with the history. File corruption is cited as a the most probable cause), she began doing operations with the rest of the unit.
While her comrades found her skills nothing less than impressive, significant worry was made to her lone-wolf attitude and her... somewhat questionable humanity...

Mecha: VF-1A, formerly flew a VF-1D during aptitude testing.

Weapons and equipment:
-Carries a MP-443 Grach as a sidearm, it is unknown how or where she got it. Her only firearm, she doesn't carry anything other than it and her combat knife. Oddly enough, she seems to have a personal attachment to it.
-Keeps a pair of silver Bluetooth headphones on her at all times.
-Smartphone.
-A small, unmarked book, contents unknown to all but her.

Personal Theme: Chosen, going to reveal it in-game when the time is right. ;)

Name: Svenja Ahlström
Age: 26
Race: Human
Species: Terran Human
Appearance:

Personal Info: As an individual with stout authoritarian views and deep admiration for her Scandinavian background, Svenja resisted the U.N. as a means to promote the preservation of cultures and fight globalism. Heritage and diversity mean much to her, and in her eyes, a singular earth state represents the diluting of these. Svenja is a capable pilot, as her service record shows, and is known for making quick, on the fly decisions. When it comes to dogfighting, she is fierce and unrelenting - she will chase down prey until she either catches it or must redirect her attention elsewhere. True to her name, her former wingmates likened her tenacity to a wolf's.

Personal History: Svenja was formerly an Anti-U.N. pilot until the end of the war, operating primarily in the skies over Northern and Central Europe. Her unit, the 672nd Interceptor Squadron "Jörmungandr," was one of the most widely renowned over the course of the U.N. War, achieving a collective kill rate of 128 by the time hostilities ended. When the fighting ended and Anti U.N. forces were dissolved, Svenja was mentally exhausted from the fighting, but was called into service with the unified U.N. military when the threat of an extraterrestrial attack was deemed a possibility. As much as she resented the idea of a singular world power, she complied with nothing else to fall back on.
Stationed on the RDF, Svenja is among many of the U.N. personnel stranded in space and lending aid to the Sentinels. Although the RDF has no other rational option than to trust them, Svenja is hesitant to put her full faith in the Sentinels as a whole, although she's gotten along well with her new squadron so far.

Mecha: SV-52 Strix

Svenja's SV-52 bears a low-vis grey scheme meant to produce the illusion of a MiG-29 silhouette. The Anti-U.N. "crooked cross" insignias have been replaced with standard Swedish military roundels. Her personal emblem is painted directly behind the cockpit, on the craft's frame:

Weapons and equipment:
-Sig-Sauer P228
-FN-P90 PDW
-(Will add more)

Personal Theme: Oda Nobuna no Yabou - Raid
