Nat is happier than he deserves to be about this thread going 3 pages, so how about we stop this.

Also, kids, order of operations is parenthesis, exponents and roots, multiplication and division, addition and subtraction. They're done at the same time, and no matter which acronym you are taught it is done the same way. Order of Operations is not at all the cause of the confusion in this problem.
