I'll get to the full story later in the OOC, For now I'll give a short summary and what can be expected from the RP. So here it is:
I need a couple people for a small group adventure. Something has caused everyone who plays video games to be sucked into virtual space. Not quite like Tron, more like .hack. Their physical forms are still in the physical world, while their consciousnesses are in virtual space. Originally there were four best friends, but when they were sucked in three of them were put into a deep sleep for ten years. The fourth was changed, and when the three awake they find that most of virtual space has been destroyed leaving only remnants of a few worlds left that they can still travel between. The fourth friend has become known as the Queen of Thorns, and has been destroying virtual space for the last ten years while her friends slept.
Now it's up to the three friends to try and stop the Queen of Thorns before she completely wipes out virtual space, and what remains of the other people that were sucked in with it. There are many secrets though, and many things that will be uncovered as the story progresses.
We will be mixing a few games together into one RP. Firstly as I said, we will follow a .Hack basis where our characters minds are stuck in virtual space, but their physical forms are still in the real world in comas.
Secondly, we will be doing a Kingdom Hearts styled world jumping deal where we travel between different worlds, each of which is what little remains of the video game that world represents.
Thirdly, there will be random games throughout the RP such as a city based on the Tron universe. We'll make sure everyone understands the world before going there of course, but there is something to keep in mind:
World Building
Together, the four of us will create worlds from scratch. We won't just be using existing games as the worlds we adventure through. The worlds will be of our own creation and our own designs. We make our own rules, but there is going to be a basis. These are:
The worlds that remain all follow a general fantasy style. All of the Sci Fi and Modern game worlds were destroyed already, because they lost their power with the use of EMP weapons. Technology didn't stand a chance. Medieval worlds were destroyed because just swords and arrows can't stop the Army of Thorns, and so they fell rather easily. It ha taken a mix of steel and magic to keep the remaining worlds alive. Only one world stands that is Sci Fi and that is the current capitol. Being based off of its own virtual world, EMP does nothing to their technology, and so they have managed to survive.
Your characters will all come from the same game, a popular future MMO that has very diverse classes and a character creation system that allows you to make your character look like whatever you want. It as well is fantasy, so think magic and swords. I'll work up a base set of examples for allowed classes later.
I myself will mostly be playing a character that serves as a guide and doesn't do much fighting. I will also control NPCs. My main character however will be the Queen of Thorns herself whenever she makes her appearances.
Combat will be against the Army of Thorns, and the group will work their way progressing through the story of the RP until they reach the Queen of Thorns and get a chance to stop her from destroying that specific world. She will then summon a boss from that world that the group will have to defeat. As the group saves worlds new worlds will be unlocked, and depending on where they choose to go different worlds will be unlocked. Example:
After saving the starting world the group will unlock 3 new worlds. If they go to the Tron world, and save it then they will unlock World A and World B. If they go to the World of Warcraft like world and save it however, they will unlock World C and D. This is just an example. The types of worlds and numbers that will be unlocked per world saved are undetermined. There are paths however. Some worlds will have joint unlocks, such as world B and C both unlock world E. There will be paths though that can be followed. Lines of worlds that can only be unlocked one at a time by unlocking the previous world. At the end of each of these lines is an important discovery that will push the story further along.
