A new High Priest is about to be chosen. Someone to guide their people into a new era. One of peace? One of war? Perhaps adventure? How will you shape this blossoming world?

Setting: In the beginning there will only be one settlement, the wood elves. It starts in a small village in the middle of a vast forest. Behind it is a massive oak tree known as The Pure One. This tree is the embodiment of their deity.

The Pure One: An enormous tree that sits as a focal point in the forest. It can be seen from anywhere from the forest floor to the mountain peaks. It helps the young elves find their way home if they get too far from the village. The tree provides a source of fresh water to the village, the animals in the forest, and the trees themselves. The river that flows through the forest comes from the tree. The tree grows many different fruits and vegetables to provide food to the elves.
Inside the base of the tree, there is a small pool that the High Priest goes to to communicate with The Pure One in times of crisis for guidance. He or she will also go to this place for the choosing of an apprentice.

The people: I was planning on this being a purely elves planet for consistency, however I am open on races but there will only be one in the beginning. Wood elves.

The world: the planet known as Niamh(pronounced neev, meaning brightness and radiance) will be an open world. Those that are not familiar with this term, think Elder Scrolls, EverQuest, Vanguard, Age of Conan, etc. To add to this, the elves will only know their village and surrounding area. There is nothing beyond the mountains surrounding the forest creating a "flat world" of sorts.

Plot: there is no specific plot. I want this roleplay to be as realistic as possible. Character development based on split second decision making. I have a plan to start, but whatever happens after is up to the players.

What we will be doing: There is a lot about this planet that is unknown, even to me. A map will be made and as races, cities, creatures, and continents are discovered, the map of the world will fill. The players(you) will be the ones to discover everything. I have everything in that regards worked out already with things being added every day.

There are currently only five "positions" within the village, as things progress, there will be others added to this list:
High Priest/ess: Guides the people of their village following the will of The Pure One. Their word is absolute law. This position is currently unavailable.

Priests: Tends to The Pure One, making sure the tree is healthy and strong. Collects fruits and vegetables grown on the trees boughs. Governed by the High Priest.

Head Hunter: Trains new hunters and teaches them how to work with their companions.

Hunter: They hunt, often from the backs of their furred companions. Governed by head hunters.

Gatherer: Collects herbs and other food from the village garden or the forest beyond. Governed by a group of experienced members.

Rules!
1. No god-modding.
2. Romance is allowed, but keep it G.*
3. Keep chat polite and don't negatively criticize anyone or their character.
4. NO MAGIC, until stated otherwise.
5. One character per person. No exceptions!
6. Obey all site rules or be banned from this roleplay.

I reserve the right to make changes to this set of rules without notice. All things new will be marked so.
*Take any romance to PMs with both parties consent or fade out. Smut is not allowed on the site.

Character requirements:
Starting out unless otherwise accepted, all characters will be between the ages of 15 and 19. This is how old they look and true age is determined by taking their age and multiplying it by 6.
Example-
Age: 15
True age: 90
If you want your character to be older than 19 or younger than 15, you must pm me your cs as well as the reason.

THERE IS NO MAGIC. Until stated otherwise.

NO smithing, lockpicking, or anything that involves metal and doors.. or windows. The wood elf people are simple and don't have gaudy jewelery made of gold or silver. Cut gems or stones dont exist to them.

Player requirements:
One liners are okay in my book unless you create a block in progress. If this happens, you will be asked to revise your post. If you do not, your post will be skipped over.
You can make your posts as long as you like.

Hiatus: if for any reason you will not be able to roleplay for a while, a player may choose for their character to be off discovering themselves, discovering a creature or plant, sickness. If you want your character to be doing something different, send me a PM and we can work it out. This is only required if you will be absent for 10 days or more.

Children, Death, and Continuing

Children: When a man loves a woman... just kidding! However, if you and another player decide that your characters are a match, you may have children with them*. Both parties MUST agree before hand.
*Follow the rules!

Marriage: marriage is not required by the wood elves, but may be by other races. You may be joined together by the High Priest at you and your partners request. This must be planned as the High Priest is very busy.

Death: A character may die while journeying around Niamh. They could also die of old age. You could also ask that your character be terminated.
After ONE month of not posting with no notification, your character will be considered dead.

Continuing: If your character dies, you may be able to continue roleplaying. This however depends on the manner of your characters expiration.
Unnatural death(animal attack, murder, etc.): you may make a new character of any race(if discovered) following character creation rules. You may also ask a parent to play their child if they are of age.
Old age: you may make a new character of a different race(if discovered) or, if you have children, you may play as one. This includes all children of your blood.
Requested termination: you may make a new character of a different race(if discovered). You may also ask a parent who has children of at least half a different race to play one.
Un-notified disappearance: you will not be able to create another character of any kind unless you have permission from a GM. If it happens again, you will not be allowed to rejoin at all.

Creature discovery: requires 2-4 players.
1. A creature discovery plot must have a minimum of two players with a max of 4. Exceptions may be made depending on the creature.
2. All creatures must be approved by myself or a Co-GM. NO exceptions.

4. Everyone in the plot must participate in the creation of the creature.

RACES

Type: Wood Elf
Community: small village- everyone knows everyone
Culture: the wood elves have a simple and pleasant life. They do not over indulge themselves and are considered primitive by other races. They are a close people that take care of each other no matter the costs.
The hunters and gatherers live in tent-like huts made of fallen wood, woven vines, and cloth. The High Priest/ess and priests live within The Pure One. Tools are very basic, using only wood and stone. Hunters carry stone knives and very few carry swords as the stone used is not commonly found in large pieces.
Wood elves are a stubborn type and find change to be strange and dangerous. Any of their people found going against their traditions are often viewed as outcasts. However they are tight-nit and love each member of their village no matter how weird they think they are.
Some members of the village are very ferverent about their worship of The Pure One and are deeply set in their ways(priests). Others take things in stride and if a situation warrants it, they know He is always listening to their prayers. Every member of the village takes the High Priest/ess's word as law as they have direct contact with The Pure One.
As the very being of the village, anyone in need lives within The Pure One. This includes the elderly, some newborns, and orphans.

Skills: considered a master with the bow and is experienced with medicines and tonics.

Appearance: Picture to come because the one I have sucks

Personality: Evaline has a fiery spirit. She is outgoing and overly cheerful but lapses into a gloomy mood when her parents are mentioned.

History: Evaline was born an orphan. Her father was killed while out on a hunt and her mother, just minutes after giving birth, left the village and was never seen again. She was raised by the priests within The Pure One. They taught her all about the different herbs and showed her how to make medicines with them. They had expected that she would chose to stay with the priests, but when she picked up a bow and shot her first arrow, they knew she would follow in her parents footsteps and be a hunter. When the decision was made, the priests that took care of her gave her a special bow and told her to beware of the animals in the forest.
On her first hunt, she was attacked by the most dangerous creature to walk the forest, a Kaldio. Evaline doesn't like to talk about the experience, but it ended with a dead giant predatory cat.
Due to her skill, it was no surprise when she was named the next Head Hunter. Evaline took this honor happily as teaching the young members of the village was a dream of hers.
When not out hunting or helping the younger elves improve their archery skills, Evaline spends her time mixing herbs into poultices and small tonics made water from The Pure One

History: Forsythia was never considered to have a chance at being an apprentice, many in the village believed her to be better suited to hunting game, as that was her primary skill back then. Her personality, however, is what won over the previous High Priest. She was exactly the kind of person that would put others ahead of herself, risking her own life to protect others. When the day came for the High Priest to choose an apprentice, not only was the village shocked, but her parents were deeply honored. She was the first of their family to become the next High Priestess, something she took quite seriously, and did her duty with pride.

History: Rin grew up, without parents, as they went missing while hunting in the woods when he was 5, and are presumed dead. He was adopted by a High Priest named Fargo. Rin started hunting when he was 10 and has been ever since, he's very crafty, using the environment to his advantage and developing a stealth like fighting style in his spare time, Rin began crafting, creating his own bows, arrows and even swords, then began applying this knowledge to create potions, clothing and even armor. Although Rin loves his village and friends, he dreams of adventure, to one day leave this village he calls home to see what awaits beyond the forest.

Skills: Beside knowing a lot of things about Grawlvs, he also knows how to make medicines out of their antlers (that's to be expected, he belongs to the MoonGale, the best antler medicine maker in the whole village.) Although he lacks of hand to hand combat and archery ability, he is truly good in throwing dagger.

Appearance:

Personality: There's nothing special about Hodfred, he's just a normal wood elf. He can be nice as long as you can be, he can be friend as long as you are not a foe, he's selfish but not to his friends. Of course he also have flaws to his personality, he's not very optimist, always thinks negatively, he is slightly impatient, that's why no one tries to mess up with him, for when he loses his cool, he will go crazy, this elf is very picky when it comes to food,he always wanted it cooked, he is fairly immature, stubborn and very untidy and the worst thing about him is he lacks of sense of humor. Hodfred is very restless, he has lots and lots of hobbies, including fishing, cooking/baking, taking care of Grawlvs, he can only get rest by sitting in front of his furnace, watching the flames burn the woods, which is also one of his hobbies. This elf loves comfort and relaxation, but the thing he loves most doesn't offer it, but it offers precious memories and happy experiences, it is adventure.

History: Hodfred had a quite good childhood, just like a normal wood elf, the only thing was, he grew up without a mother. Hodfred was the only son of the great Liahm of MoonGale, who belongs to family that creates the finest antler medicine in the village, and the beautiful Lythia of WoodVile, who belongs to a very kind family, who never had a chance seeing his child grew. Hodfred was born on 20th day of summer in the village where the pure one grows, unfortunately, his mother died delivering him. Being the only son of his father, his father gave all his time to him, cherished and loved him more than a normal parent could. He grew up never feeling the emptiness of growing without a mother, grew up in a comfortable life, away from wilderness, battles and adventures. Hodfred is fond of adventures, which he never experienced yet. Believing he could join adventures by being a hunter, he trained and became one, although he already thought it would not be easy for him, for he don't posses great hunting skills, besides being good at throwing daggers.

Appearance: medium build, silver gray hair, dark brown eyes. 

Personality: Considered eccentric by even his peers but tolerated as mostly harmless for the sake of his family. He is often viewed as borderline heretical for his beliefs, though he considers himself quite devout. Quite oblivious to others at times, he is sometimes thought to be simpleminded but is in fact lost in thoughts his fellow elves do not seem to comprehend. Many of those thoughts wander toward the unknown borders of the forest. 

History: From a well known line of hunters, he is the first in his family to follow the path of the gatherers. His family is tolerent of his eccentricities only because his crafts have been harmless. His mother disapproves and often tries to convince him to become a hunter. He has long dreamed of exploring beyond the forest and of the strange creatures that may exist there.

Knights won't be part of the roleplay until the next race is discovered.
You can join now and discover the next race then make a new character of that race, but until then, the only fighting that will be done is with the animals in the forest.

A type of exception would be an inventive character that has made a weapon out of stone and very basic armor out of leather or bark. The wood elves currently dont have a way to smelt and smith metals.

Just a couple things. There currently isn't smithing or lockpicking. Once a race with.. locks is discovered, heck yeah, go for it. Smithing will probably be brought in with the locks. The wood elves are extremely simple. They use stone weapons.
Orphans would be brought up within The Pure One or with a close family friend or relative.

I shall add these to one of my open posts, thank you.
