This is a play-by-post adventure in which all the players collectively take control of a single character and guide them through an epic journey. It works off majority vote, I'll make a post and then wait a while for people to throw in what they think should happen. I'll go with the most popular suggestion, if it is a tie then I will add in my own vote to break it. I'll also be doing dice rolling to make story decisions and determine whether PCs succeed at particularly difficult challenges. All you need to do to play is vote and follow along with the story that unfolds.

For people who come in late into the game, I'll be using this post as a quick reference guide and table of contents of all the updates.

A lone tower rises above the foliage of a forest, sending a constant stream of strange energy into the clouds above. This beacon of assumably nefarious intent can be seen from miles around and is bound to attract at least one nosey little adventurer... But who will come?

Pick yo character! (Majority vote decides)

1. Sam of Spamelot
Class: Badass
Our favorite generic jack of all trades. Sam is a human haling from the troubled kingdom of Spamalot. He is equally capable of wielding melee and ranged weapons and even wielding magic, but he does not start out particularly skilled at anything. Also, which he is capable of using magic he doesn't know any spells. He begins with a short sword.

2. Elli of Prontince
Class: W-w-witch!
Educated at the Great Academy of Prontince, Elli chose the adventurous life of a travelling scholar over one of the many stable jobs she could have received in the city. She is very intelligent and skilled in magic, but is completely inept with any sort of mundane weapon. Most of her learning was centered on force magic, but she does know some basic elemental spells. She begins with a focus rod which amplifies her magic. She is also knowledgeable in alchemy and machinery.

3. Naria of Razahd
Class: Bumpkin
Raised in an isolated wood elf village deep in the forests of Razahd, Naria was raised on the simple things in life, but a rival tribe destroying her home forced to leave the forests and see the world. She is very mobile and is skilled with ranged combat, but would be fucked if trapped in a melee situation. She is capable of nature magic and knows a basic healing spell at the start, but shuns destructive forms of magic. She starts with a bow and some arrows. She is knowledgeable with alchemy, but detests machinery.

4. Dunm of York
Class: Urchin
As a halfling growing up alone on the streets of the massive capital of York, Dunm has lived a hard life. He survived off thieving and murder until the trail of his crimes finally caught up to him, forcing him to flee the city. He is incredibly stealthy and mobile and relies on dirty tactics to take enemies down, but would be in trouble in a flat-out fight. He is not at all intelligent or educated, but might be capable of the darker magics if given a chance. He is skilled with short blades and thrown weapons, and his size limits him from being able to properly use most others. He starts with twin daggers. He has no knowledge of alchemy or machinery.

5. Yrus of Thumovech
Class: Tank
Yrus lived as a mine guard in the underground dwarven city of Thumovech, but after a particularly nasty encounter with some creatures of the deep he decided to head to the surface because fuck that noise. His fighting style relies heavily on the fact that he can probably take more hits than his opponents. He is skilled with most melee weapons, but inept with ranged tactics. He starts out with a mace and shield and also a spiked helmet. He is incapable of magic, but very knowledgeable in machinery and alchemy.

Naria selected

Having seen the strange light show from a nearby road, Naria moves through the woods towards this tower.

Naria begins with a bow, quiver, and 10 arrows. She also knows the spell 'Basic Healing' which allows her to spend 1 mana to restore 1 health to any character she can touch, including herself.

She has max health of 5 and max mana of 5 and begins with 1 save point. A save point can be placed at any time, the point at which it is placed will be where we return if Naria dies or you (collectively) wish to return to that point. Save points are uncommon so they should be placed carefully to avoid having to repeat nonsense. If she were to die without having placed a save point, we would simply return to the beginning(This post), so there is no rush to place this one immediately.

Naria nears the tower, and quickly hides when she notices a skeletal figure vacantly wandering the woods around her and another hanging out near the entrance of this tower. Both appear to be unarmed and unaware of her presence.

Naria watches them for a while and learns nothing, the two just continue to wander around the same small area vacantly; however, while she observes them she remembers something she was taught of undead back in her village (Note: Razahd had major problems with undead back in the past, and thus it is something wood elves know about).

A creature such as this could be one of three things:

A. It could be a naturally occurring undead, a lost soul that has returned to its long dead corpse to once again walk the mortal plane. If this was the case, then it would likely be sentient and its morality would depend on the soul, though undead spirits are rarely sane.

B. It could not actually even be undead, but instead a mindless golem, a magical construct created by a wizard who very cruelly chose to use bones as their material. If this was the case, then it would not be sentient and would simply be programmed to react to certain stimuli by its creator.

C. It could be the victim of vile necromancy, a poor soul ripped out of afterlife, forced into this form, and enslaved to a necromancer's will. In which case it might be sentient, but would have no control over it's actions and likely wouldn't even be able to speak.

Sadly, you were never taught how to tell which type a creature would be.

You get the nearest skeleton's attention and wave to it, hoping to discern if it is friendly or not.

The skeleton begins slowly shambling towards you, not really giving you much clue as to whether it is hostile or not. The other skeleton appears to not notice or not care about what is going on.

Back away, climb a tree, whatever, do something to put some distance between yourself and it for the moment until it gives some indication of its intent.

Seconded but also try to talk with it at a distance, maybe ask it a question and show no form of hostility until you know it's morality.

Keep that arrow nocked but pointed at the ground and don't draw the bowstring; do this in a way that is visible to the skeleton. This shows that you are cautious but will only attack if provoked.

As it approaches, call out to it, asking it to respond. Keep your voice level, but allow some suspicion to show through.
