The idea I have for this roleplay is where all the characters are assassins. It's set in a semi-futuristic, much darker world where political corruption is king, and the ones who call the shots are the people lucky enough to have the best killers on their sides. Most of them will easily stab their employer in the back (literally) if they can find more pay or benefits somewhere else. Many of the assassins are simply hired thugs with a rusty knife, but a select few have been training for this their entire life. Those select few, the top of the food chain, busy themselves with whatever work is most appealing to either their wallet or their conscience, but the latter tends to be a seldom-used reason.

I'd like to start it out with something big, most likely the assassination of the mayor of the city or something else that would draw the characters together. From there, we can see what happens. I probably wouldn't have more than four-five total people in the roleplay. I'm open to any suggestions, so fire away!

I've got two different guys in mind, depending on if you're looking for someone drawn up for AD&D, or someone like assassin's creed style?

I was thinking more along the lines of assassin's creed, but you can take it whatever direction you'd like.

Killing high value targets...it's been going on for years, not a problem.

I'm interested in this. rp. How about an event happens, causing the king to gain power, which has negative repercussions on the assassins?

You could have it as corporate assassins who offer their services to large companies who are looking to literally "take out" their competitors, and the company who has the most coin has more assassins at their disposal. But even smaller companies may have their own assassins who are looking to take down larger companies, forcing a "hostile takeover". These assassins can be used for just about anything, whether it's a politician who's imposing tighter importation restrictions, activists trying to prevent deforestation, sheiks threatening to raise crude oil prices, etc. That's some ideas I have drawn up.

Key thing is, there's a variety of "hits" that can be carried out, ranging from actual death, to the destruction of a political career. Think Gary Hart in 1984. Either that or Illuminati NWO style....that Bimbo at 11 just sank the senator's chances at a high-paying job for the president...destroyed the home life...unless he's bankrolled by another group, think gnomes of zurich running things.

But would that designate someone an assassin or just some scumbag who can make grandiose claims based off of loose facts from the past? There's an etiquette to ending a life but anybody can ruin your career by starting a smear campaign.

True enough, Hale....it's called the media, it happens every day. But then, you go further up the ladder, who controls the media? Gotta love all that dirty laundry. It was simpler in the old days, a good punch with a dagger, and someone didn't get up again, ever.

I'd probably have it to be mainly assassinations that keeps everything running, but there's bound to be some other stuff along the way. The corporate assassins idea sounds great, but I'm not sure how it could be implemented? How about the 'king' that takes power vows to get rid of the assassins once and for all, and hires some assassins to be his bounty hunters, who search out the other assassins and turn them in?

Ah, that would be quite ironic, a corrupt king hiring assassins as bounty hunters to kill other assassins in an attempt to protect his own ass.
It sounds like a great idea and we should use it, however I think that there should be more to it that this, like Dishonored.

Simple, indeed. Now it's all .300 Whisper rounds and surgical missile strikes via predator drones and polonium, dimethylmercury and VX nerve gas. I miss the old days.

Assassins mopping up other assassins, sounds like a winner to me.

Potato, I'm not familiar with the plot of Dishonored, but once we get started the plot will pretty much go wherever the characters push it. I'll put up the actual topic for this once I can get on an actual computer, probably sometime tomorrow.
