The Duelists
Name: Gem
Title: The Duelists
Age: 290 days
Personality:
'Fair fights are for losers'. Gem is a pair of entities sharing a single consciousness. Her goal in everythig is to win as efficiently as possible, showing off and meaningless banter is seen as a irredeemable sin. Outside of a fight Gemeni is actually friendly and polite. Because of her policy to win fights no matter what, she avoids doing anything that may make an enemy of an ally and creating a situation that would put her ideology at risk.
Origin Myth: Gem was born the only daughters of a clan chief, a grave blow to a man with no sons to carry on his name. Growing up, she hid her abnormal nature with some difficulty. As her father grew older he resolved to marry them both to rival clans, joining them both to his in an effort to avoid a conflict after his death and to unify them under one banner.
On the eve of the wedding, Gem killed both sons of the rival clans, kickstarting a war that lasted for years and that left the clans weaker for decades to come. Gem was imprisoned for her part in the bloodshed and given a choice, exile from her homeland of face death in the form of a dragon. She fought the dragon, killed it and took the twin swords it had guarded. Following this, she left the island, crossed the sea, and became a hero out of legend.
Powers/Skills/Abilities:
- Unity - Both entities occupy the same space, striking with increased strength and speed. Her durability is also increased, attacks dealing only half of the damage that they ordinarily would.
- Asynchrony - Both halves operate independantly in an unlimited range. Each is a fully fledged champion in its own right and should not be taken lightly
- Leap - Either half instantly teleports to the other, activating Unity.
War Cry - Area of effect debuff and dispel. Also applies an effect that delays the application of incoming damage until the end of the effectEquipment:
Castor & Pollux - Twin longswords that, while being visually identical, are functionally opposites. Seperate, they are incomplete but together they show their full potential. Alone each blade is light enough to be swung with a single hand but are usually weidled in two regardless.
- Castor - Weilded by the right hand, Castor is the cleaver, rending anything considered armour or weapons with little effort but leaving flesh intact.
- Pollux - Weilded in the left hand, Pollux is the wounder, slicing through flesh and creating wounds that are slow to heal but having no effect against anything considered armour.
