"How did it happen?"

Nobody left knows. The living dead are taking over the world, killing without thinking, leaving the world nearly void of any life. At least that is how it feels to Remy, a cop who worked out of LA when the outbreak started. He was nothing but a rookie. Only twenty-one, barely old enough to be part of the police academy. Now he is fighting for his life. Along the way, he meets a group of people who become like family to him. Read as they travel, trying to find more survivors and a place they can finally be safe. Does a place like that even exist?

This story contains: Zombie related blood, gore. Graphic scenes of horror and death. Romance is allowed, but nothing graphic or that will make people gag (lol), also any sexuality is allowed. Please be mature writers.

This is actually the premise for a novel I'm writing, but for one reason or another, I decided to put the project on hiatus. I think the plot itself could be a decent role play.

High casual writing to low advanced. At least 3+ paragraphs. No one liners or one paragraphs.

My characters for now are:
Male: Jeremy "Remy" age 21 (Character sheet coming)
Female: Olivia age 13 (Character sheet coming)

New characters will surely come and go as the role play progresses. Zombies are of course NPC. The "main" characters can not be killed off until we decide and agree to kill any of them. So for example if you need to drop the RP, you can request your characters be killed or if you just want to get your character killed, but bring in another, that is workable, too. But it has to be approved and agreed upon!

There are three strains of the virus. Slow zombie, fast zombie and stupid zombie (the zombie does not react at all unless you are practically on top of it) Zombies in this story can only infect someone else if they break your skin through bites or scratches, or if you get their fluids in your mouth, eyes (in your bloodstream). You can amputate a bitten arm or leg to save a person from turning in this story. Animals can be infected.

Any other questions, please ask in this thread. Only 3 spots open! Character sheets have to be approved. No super powerful characters who have no weakness and no whiny teenage girls (or boys) No godmoding. No Mary Sues (Perfect characters, for example)

As bad as it sounds, I do not have any larger plot plans for it. I was hoping once we had some characters approved, that we could discuss some ideas in the OOC. I have not started a group role play before.

Remy is a rookie cop from The LAPD. He's been traveling for a month since the outbreak. The group he was with most recently have all been turned/killed so he is on his own again.

I'm really open to suggestions and ideas from other seasoned group role players.

It would be good to consider the overall goal of the characters – getting to a safe place to survive/live/thrive – and go from there. The plot will need obstacles, things that keep the characters from getting to their goal, like a story.

Name: Christina Miller.
Nickname: Chris.
Age: 24.

Personality: Though born and raised with a good heart and half-decent moral compass, Chris has a natural rebellious tendency. She's inclined to break the rules, cause trouble, and amuses herself by being an A-grade pain in the ass. Snarky, wise-cracking, backhanded compliments: they're her specialities. She's not the smartest person around, but she sure as hell isn't stupid either; she's rebellious, not irrational or impulsive. She'll deal with problems logically. Despite being the number one cause in brain aneurysms for her neighbourhood, Chris gives a damn about people. She's independent and values her own space, and follows her personal (highly flexible) code of conduct loosely shaped around the concept of right and wrong. Give her some time and she'll come around to you and your way of thinking, but first impressions are very important to her.

History: Chris never got along with her parents. During her childhood she was described as a sweet and innocent little angel, and her parents sure held her to that as she grew up. In her teenage years rebellion seemed like a delicious idea. She committed a few minor crimes and charmed her way into a mere warning or simple community service. Breaking the rules quickly became her favourite thing to do.

Tony's parents were friends with hers, which meant they met while still very young and long before Chris' rebellious “stage”. Noticing the pressure Tony's parents were putting on him to be the family success, she encouraged him to break away and do his own thing. When his family disinherited him, Chris had his back. They were one another's only true fiend, and they looked out for each other. Though neither would admit it aloud, they considered themselves siblings.

Frequently kicked out of home, she spent a lot of time with her grandfather. The man was paranoid and often spouted off conspiracy theories or some-such. He kept a rifle in his room, which just so happened to go missing every once in a while, around about the same time Chris would disappear with her friends overnight. Grandpa never seemed to notice.

Approaching adulthood, her rebelliousness started to calm down. While she did the odd job for a bit of cash, Tony went to college on a partial scholarship. Grandpa never asked for rent, so she helped Tony make up loose ends. In return, he pushed her to find her calling. After a bout of trial and error, Chris eventually found her place in public service.

When the outbreak hit, she was off-duty and Tony was studying at home. Unwilling to abandon her grandfather, the pair lagged behind during the preliminary evacuations. Her grandfather lasted less than a day. Chris and Tony just barely escaped their district before it became overrun. Though they teamed up with survivors in the past, they are alone now. They always stick together.

Age: 23.

Personality: It's true that Tony is a generally quiet, patient and introverted kind of guy, but just like everybody else, he has a temper. He's just really good at hiding it. Tony doesn't like to shout or argue, and prior to the outbreak avoided any kind of confrontation. However, he grew up idolising people who freely acted out and as such has developed a desire to do so from time to time as well. For the most part, Tony just wants to be happy and comfortable, but piss him off and he'll let loose years of buried rage. He places a lot of guilt and shame on himself, even when there's no need for it, so after he does lose control he quickly retreats. He has a tendency to care about people very quickly, and unknowingly mimics the behaviour of people he admires or finds interesting (for example, Christina's jokes). He succumbs to peer pressure and has not the will to do anything alone; he enjoys partnerships and being in groups.

Weapons: A crowbar and a revolver.
Other Supplies: About 24 bullets, a loaf of bread, rechargeable stun gun (in need of electricity), cloth strips, dwindling pain medication, small pieces of broken electronics.

History: Anthony was the oldest of two sons and the heir to a large fortune. He grew up learning how to run a business from his father, but never desired to carry on his father's legacy. But all Tony wanted to do was build computers and play with hardware. As a child and a teenager he admired his best friend, Chris, for her extroverted personality and overall attitude. He spent his high school years doing everything that was expected of him, save the occasional rebellious act – roped in by Chris – which he kept carefully hidden from his parents.

His first college application had him headed in the same direction, but as his desire to do something independent with his life grew stronger and the pressure to do as he was told weighed in, Chris convinced him to live his own life. When he told his parents he was not going to do what they wanted for him, they disinherited him. His younger brother was more than glad to take his place, and Tony re-applied for college with his own aspirations in mind.

Living with his best friend and doing what he wanted, even though money and guaranteed success was a distant memory, was Tony's idea of a dream life. Chris was to thank for it, having given him the guts to speak up, so he returned the favour. He helped her find the purpose in her own life, or at least seek a career she would enjoy. He was never happier than he was with Chris, her grandfather and their basement of computer parts.

After the outbreak and Grandpa Miller's infection, Tony shot and killed him to save Chris from having to do so. Despite doing it with everyone's best interests in mind, Tony still feels incredibly guilty about it.

Personality: In a sentence, one could say Joshua is a loud and abrasive. It takes time to get used to his brand of dark humor, almost scandalous language, a very short fuse, and little care to make anything better than what it is. If something sucks it sucks, you'll just have to carry on and deal with it is what he tends to go by when faced with hardships. He can't stand people that lie, much so because he himself has issues lying about anything, even the most innocent and simple of lies, Joshua has issues telling them unless its all for a good joke. He has a very compassionate, caring side that he keeps locked away, rather to let people dig to try and find it, rather let someone see it, and then possibly toy with him. His abrasiveness also supported with the mentality that if you want it done, do it yourself and if people tell you to do something that has to be done. Do it, though you can tell them your mind on the matter anytime you want to, provided it gets done on time and done right.

Background & History: Joshua grew up to a military family, his father in the United States Air Force. He traveled around the US and Western Europe, living in England and Iceland, along with living in California, North Carolina, Indiana and finally moving to Kentucky for his Freshman year. His schooling was rather boring, he skimmed by most of high school however never got into any trouble, always keeping his nose clean.

His life changed when he joined the Army, only to be discharged 6-months later due to his inability to take and pass the APFT. His eyes had been opened up to the real world, he walked with more determination, he spoke allot more confidently, and had improved many times over in general. He got a job at a local Gamestop though a few friends he knew that worked there. Within a few months his drive for more, imprinted in him by the US Army, pushed him to do many things they would never dream of. He lucky and got transferred to a store halfway across the nation to California instead of Kentucky.

When the infection broke out, he gather all of the military gear he had collected and built a good solid loadout with it. Grabbing a Glock 17 off a fallen police officer, he proceed to leave his home, driven to find a safe place to hide from the undead hordes.

Its really just things I found easily accessible in my house. I've started collecting military gear because its pretty cool, some of it just happens to be still useful.
