Can I be the 10th nation? Also, could you make a map that shows where all of the nations are?

You know what this nation RP needs? Demons can't be summoned by magic, because you won't need magic to do that :D.

I'm proposing a race of 'demons' that look the part but aren't necessarily evil, just very different from everyone else because of different biology, value systems and laws.

Perhaps you should have a look at the Dominion =P

Hmm they're different from what I have in mind. Maybe we could have related species?

It's possible, what were you thinking? Take into account that anything too closely related to them and their forest would be incapable of leaving without the assistance of the harkti leaves, and even then it's only as long as they have them. Anything too far from them would also be affected by the ecosystem in the same way as it would affect most other creatures from outside the forest, in that it would be a very unpleasant death.

I'm thinking of a species that has migrated south eons ago, and through natural selection has discarded the need for harkti leaves. The process might have been started by a number of mutants who became successful, starting their own branch before migrating south due to a number of reasons (expulsion for one). That said, their kind still retains the ability to mutate those around them, but not resulting in death. Instead, they would come to resemble a demon-(fill in the blanks) hybrid. They would look similar, but with some differences. For example, their form is not as stable, which means individuals, when matured, could differentiate into subspecies, from the cunning and intelligent 'imp' to the diplomatic 'succubi/incubi' and the powerful and huge 'pit lords', and everything in between.

Hmmm... Seems alright to me, though you'll have to run all that by Haz, as I'm not entirely sure just how close they want the species to be to humanoids. On a side-note, your species probably wouldn't be able to re-enter the forest after having been separated for so long from it, they would essentially be like the other oxygen breathers of the world.

Indeed they will be. I'm going to try coming up with a CS first. Also, my demon race would be humanoid, just that some will be shorter than the average human being while others bigger. The imp variation will likely be the size of a young teenager while the pit lords will likely only be twice as tall, slightly shorter if that is too much.

EDIT: Lol had a funny thought. I wonder what will happen if your demon, my demon and a human being walks into the same room?

1. At least one of them will die from a lack of proper air to breathe.

2. The human will likely brand the surviving demon as unholy and attempt to kill it. The fight's result will depend on what weapons were carried into the room.

I think that will likely happen. Unless of course that human is pretty freakin' open-minded.

Oh, and Shim, you forgot that tribal pact in the mountains east of the Dominion. It barely surrounds the mountains and is land-locked.

lol you're no fun :D

Anyway, I've posted an incomplete NS on the NS thread. Will keep working on it.

EDIT: By the way, Alfhedil, did you notice the cognates between our people's language? :D

The "humanoid" ruling is to stop things like Giants or a race of sentient mushrooms. Demons that can't use magic shouldn't be a problem as long as they are roughly human-sized (Hobbit-height is shortest, Slenderman height is tallest. I'll get exact numbers later), are upright, have less than 8 limbs and NO WINGS.
I remember an RP once where a race had wings. They won every battle because they could fly above the opponent and rain hell, and no-one could do squit because the armies were very melee focussed. So, no wings.

Sovereign was redoing their faction last I saw, and had taken down their previous WiP, I'll keep checking though to keep track of who is where.

I see some similar nomenclature, but it doesn't seem nearly as haphazard as mine =P

Hazmat if you actually had taken the time to read the nations that have already been submitted there is a race that has a height of 12-14 feet. They are in many ways essentially humans scaled up and so certainly fit your definition of humanoid. I expect you to rescind the completely random decision on an arbitrary height limit now.

Oh wow I thought I read that wrong. So that's like twice the height of an average human being... Only the 'pit lords' of my race could equal that D:

Why does everyone assume I don't read the posts that are put up? Please keep a respectful tone. Next time, just say "Hazmat, there is already a race of..." and so on and so forth.

Slenderman height is 15 foot, Hobbit height is 4 foot. I have a height restriction to stop people recreating Giants - the last thing we need are a bunch of 20 foot barbarians that hate people parading about and destroying everything us little men are working for. Not to mention the sheer strength one giant has... I do not enjoy the idea of setting up a new civilisation on the moon.

I didn't know slenderman is that tall. He seem to look like 8-10 feet tall to me... But yeah I'm cool with the height limitation. Only a minority from my race will ever approach either extremes.

Apparently, depictions of Slendy vary between about 8 foot to 15 foot. Don't know how true that is, but oh well.

Not that there's any true depiction of Slenderman, unless... D:
