Earth’s History

Since the birth of time the Earth was a battle ground between good and evil; between heroes and villains. The earliest of these heroes was Conan the Barbarian, who wandered the ancient plains battling his enemies and becoming the most powerful warrior of old. Evil also crept into the world during this time as well. Monsters and demons crossed from their plane of existence to ours. In order to combat them, men of the ancient times bound the powers of a demon to a young girl, creating the first Slayer, and a lineage that would continue as long as evil existed.

As time went on, others emerged, such as Solomon Kane, who made it his mission to eradicate dark forces on the planet. It was around this time that the first League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was formed by the British Crown in order to protect the world and the British Isles. The team would form and disband many times as time progressed, with many eccentric and powerful characters serving on it. The fabled ninja clan The Foot became a powerful force in Japan in this era.

The Earth’s move towards today’s super powered present at a greater speed during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During this time, the longest tenured League of Extraordinary Gentlemen fought off the first supervillain in Doctor Fu Manchu, as well as others. But the biggest change came when the Earth experienced its first alien invasion, as large tripods landed in the English countryside. They were eventually stopped by the League, as well as a biological weapon. The weapon also killed the majority of the witnesses to the invasion, allowing the government to mount a full-scale cover up. This betrayal led to the League disbanding.

This progress continued as World War II erupted. Hitler and his occult fanaticism drove the mad dictator to search the world, and other worlds, for anything that would let his rule last forever. Thanks to the efforts of Henry “Indiana” Jones, Hitler was denied the Ark of the Covenant as well as the Holy Grail. But that is not all Jones denied the Fuhrer. On a remote island off the coast of Britain, Jones accompanied Professor Trevor Bruttenholm and a contingent of soldiers to stop a Nazi plan to release a demon upon the Earth. Hitler’s occult priest Rasputin managed to open a portal to another plane, but was stopped by the Allied forces. Rasputin was sucked into the portal, but something managed to make its way over to their side as well. The small, infant demon was discovered by the Professor and named “Hellboy” by the troops. After the discovery of Hellboy, Bruttenholm and Jones formed the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, dedicated to protecting the world from “the things that go bump in the night”.

After the war, the world began changing dramatically. Superpowered humans appeared in the decades that followed. The government did not know where they came from. Some speculated that they were experiments gone wrong, and others believed they were the next stage in human evolution. Most of these people hid their abilities in fear of what normal people may do to them. Others joined government initiatives to understand the phenomenon.

The super powered age exploded in the 80s, however, with the debut of the “superhero”. Costumed characters such as Omni-Man began patrolling the earth and fighting crime and super villainy. The trend continued for a decade and a half until the world governments decided it needed to be regulated. They created the Global Defense Agency, and publicly claimed it was to reign in the superhuman population, but in reality it was designed to work with the superheroes. Each hero was given a government contact they had to report findings and movements to said agents. Around the same time, the team known as GI Joe was formed to combat terrorism. They clashed with the terrorists Cobra Command, and MI6 battled with the group known as SPECTRE.

The world spun on until our story started…

Events so far…

-The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles emerge from the sewers and begin exploring the surface world. They fight the New York mob from the shadows, leading the mob to hire two big game hunters to kill them. This leads to them being flushed out of their sewer home and into an ambush, which they barely survive. The family also deals with a rival mutant, an alley cat named Old Hob, and his street gang. The Foot begin appearing in the city in the latter part of the year. The first skirmishes end in Turtle victories, until the Shredder appears, turning the tide. The Foot now look to exert their power over the other criminal groups in the city in order to take it over. During the year the Turtles befriend college students April O’Neil and Casey Jones, as well as the vigilante street gang known as the Purple Dragons.

-Hellboy and the BPRD tangle with a resurrected Rasputin and his cult followers. The insane sorcerer plans to use Hellboy’s right hand to unleash the Ogdru Jahad, the seven dragons of the apocalypse, to destroy the world and remake it in his vision. The plan nearly succeeds, but the spell over the red demon is broken, allowing Hellboy to lock the gate once again, and kill Rasputin once and for all.

-The superhero calling himself Invincible debuts and fights the fallen hero Omni-Man.

-James Bond foils several plots by SPECTRE to destabilize the world’s governments.

-GI Joe stops Cobra from obtaining a bio weapon capable of destroying vast amounts of human life.

-The Autobots and Decepticons continue their war across the stars, still searching for a place to call their own.

-The Doctor patrols the Universe fighting for good.

Just a little note, the rules might need a revision. Some refer to Hype or One Universe instead of RPG and Independent Universe.

Yea, go for it. As long as the character started out as an Indy, you're good to go.

SPECTRE

The SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion is a terrorist organization founded by Belgian criminal mastermind Ernst Stavro Blofeld in 1941 and was used at first as a intelligence network that worked for both the allied and axis powers. SPECTRE was responsible for a variety of plots in the 50's and 60's, from the attempted Fort Knox robbery by Auric Goldfinger in 1959, to the THUNDERBALL nuclear warhead crisis of 1964. Blofeld and most of the SPECTRE high command were killed by an unnamed British operative in the 60's, with Blofeld meeting his end in 1968. With his death SPECTRE went dormant and was believed to no longer exist, until they reemerged on the scene in early 2010, claiming responsibility for the terrorist bombing of a US warship in the Arabian sea. With tentacles that stretch across the world and are far-reaching, the SPECTRE high command is in reality made up of only five key figures:

James Moriarty: A genius mathematics professor at Cambridge and leader (Number One) of the terrorist organization SPECTRE. A bastard son of former SPECTRE leader Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Moriarty is responsible for restarting the organization and turning it from laughingstock to deadly. A previous 007 killed his father, leading Moriarty to seek revenge against the English government no matter the cost.

Colonel Wei Sun: A Chinese spy turned defector, Wei Sun acts as SPECTRE's Number Two and Chief of Operations. Sun acts as yin to Moriarty's yang, making the head of SPECTRE's grand plans and ideas practical the best way he can.

Yuri Agapov: SPECTRE's Number Three, the fifty year old Russian is a former boy chess prodigy. A brilliant and dazzling strategist, he may be smarter than even Moriarty. Agapov is the terrorist organization's chief strategist, each and every move planned out by him to the nth degree.

Baroness Anastasia Cisarovna: SPECTRE's Number Four and chief assassin, the Baroness is a Belgium aristocrat that uses her beauty and intelligence to accomplish whatever mission SPECTRE sends her on.

The Turk: SPECTRE's Number Five, The Turk is an international drug dealer that supplies over 60% of the world's heroin and opium supply. He uses his contacts with American and international crime figures to give SPECTRE a vast global network.

Other MI6 villains

Barracuda: One of the deadliest assassins in the world, Barracuda is a former Army Ranger turned trafficker. Guns, drugs, people, if it can be smuggled he can smuggle it.

Andre Sarkissian: Leader of the world's foremost bio-engineering company, Sarkissian has strong ties to both Russia and Syria and is currently in the process of developing new ways to physically augment the human body and mind.

Garret Carlyle: A former 00 ODG operative who was captured in Iran and disavowed, Carlyle emerged from a prison after year's worth of torture and disappeared off the grid. Carlyle is currently wanted by British and American intelligence services.

Background and Story So Far:

Tara Chace was born in London in 1981 to an upper middle class English family. Her parents divorced when she was a young age, neither one really wanting to take full custody of her. They shipped her off to boarding school for most of her childhood and teens, where she was lonely and grew to resent her parents. After graduating, she ignored both parent's wishes to go to university and instead joined the army. Tara's intelligence and capabilities led to her becoming an officer and then a special forces operative. She worked as a scout sniper in Iraq and Afghanistan with the NATO coalition forces.

In 2011, Tara was recruited by MI6 as a field agent. She scored so high in her initial training that she was offered a more prestigious office with a special group known as the Overseas Development Group. This small unit was comprised of single and double special operatives carrying out the most covert and dangerous work in the intelligence service. So far in her short career she has run up against the likes of terrorist organization SPECTRE as well as host of colorful badguys bent on world domination or destruction. The rumors and whispers of the special agent who keeps the bad men from the door is that of Agent 007. Chace, Tara Chace.

Sample Post (At least 3 well thought out paragraphs as well as some dialogue):

Monaco
1:23 AM Local Time

Tara walked through the lobby of the hotel as calmly as possible. A defector was on the top floor, waiting for his debriefing before he could be smuggled into England. She was dressed in a dark pants suit and low heels to give her the appearance of an accountant or some paper pusher instead of the secret agent she really was. She pressed the top button and waited for the doors to close. They were nearly shut when a hand reached through and caused the automatic doors to spring back open. A dark-haired man in a tuxedo gave Tara his thanks and selected his floor before the doors finally closed.

She gave him a glance out the corner of her eye. His tuxedo was of a baggy cut, but she could tell the cloth hid a muscular frame underneath. His dark hair, which was gelled and combed back, had bits of gray in it. There was a thick black goatee on his face. There was something oddly familiar about him, and Tara was overcome with the sense of déjà vu by just glancing at the man's profile. He kept his eyes forward, but his body language told her that he was on-alert and focused on something. A cold, numb sensation began in the pit of Tara's stomach. She was not a believer of things like a sixth sense or telepathy, but her time in the army and in MI6 had given her an acute sense of recognizing danger and when it was imminent.

She flung herself backwards just as the man's large fist moved to strike her side. Tar grabbed his wrist with one hand to try to twist it backwards behind his back, but the man's muscles tightened and flexed. He smacked Tar hard against the face with the open palm of his free hand. She reeled backwards and slammed against the lift's wall. While she recovered, the assassin slapped the emergency stop button at the tenth floor and began to encroach towards Tara.

Tara pulled her compact Glock from its shoulder holster and was preparing to aim it when the man's powerful hands slapped it out of her grip. It clattered to the floor as the man got his hands around Tara's neck and lifted him upwards. The top of her head smashed against the top of the lift, knocking a light fixture loose and popping the florescent lightbulb. The small space was now basked in half-shadow as the man throttled Tara's neck. His tough hands scratched at her throat the way sandpaper scratches at wood. He kept his eyes forward and watched Tara with gleeful anticipation as he squeezed the life out of her.

Flailing, Tara's foot connected with the man's chest, the spike of her heel driving into his pectoral. The shock caused him to drop his prey and stumble backwards holding his chest. Tara slammed against the floor of the lift and coughed violently as air returned to her lungs. She looked up and saw the man sucking for air as well. The Glock was in the far corner beside the assassin. Tar stood just as the man was standing.

"Suppose we can't talk this out like civilized people?" she asked the man in a rough, scratchy voice.

"Talking is for cowards," he said in a thick Russian accent. "But we will talk like the real men used to."

Like that, he was back on Tara with his wide fist cutting through the air. She held her arm up and blocked the blow with a left forearm. The blow sent shockwaves of pain through her arm, but it didn't affect Tara's aim as she struck the man in the face with a right hook. The blow knocked the man unbalanced, and Tara kept up the barrage with a series to body blows to the chest and sides. She had the man backed up against the side of the lift, but any advantage he had evaporated when he grabbed one of her blows with an open palm and flipped her hard on to the lift floor. The wind rushed out of her lungs and she gasped for air. While she struggled, the man stood over her.

"Not bad," he said with a slight bow. "Especially for a woman. I have met better, but not many. You were nearly a worthy opponent, Miss Chace, but you were not good enough."

The man raised his leg and was bringing it down when Tara rolled to his right. The foot came down on the lift's metal floor. Tara swept her legs, knocking the man to the ground. Out the corner of her eye she saw the Glock on the floor. Tara rolled in its direction, picking it up in her hand. Before she could turn, she felt the powerful assassin's hands around the back of her neck. Tar swung the gun behind her head and felt the gun strike the man square on the head.

The blow didn't seem to faze him, as his powerful hands reached out to take the gun from Tara. They struggled with each other, rolling in the floor. In their tug of war, one of them squeezed the gun's trigger. It went off straight up in the air, first a three round burst then the rest of the rounds followed. Tar kicked away from the killer and yanked the Glock from his grip. Turning, she struck him again with the gun barrel, this time straight across the face. He screamed out as the gun's iron sight scratched across his eye.

There came a loud metallic twang from above, followed by a groan. Both Tara and the assassin looked up. The gunshots had pierced the lift's ceiling, one of them must have damaged the cables that operated the lift. Tara and her would-be killer exchanged looks before they tried to strike. While the assassin reared back for another punch, she used her left hand to poke him in the scratched eye. He screamed again, falling back to the floor. There was another twang, this one shaking the lift. Tar carefully stood while the killer rolled on the ground. She tried to pry open the lift's doors as gently as she could while the man tried to regain his composure. He was on his hands in knees when Tara kicked him in the face and dropped him to the floor. With a wedge big enough to pass through, Tara stomped down on the lift's floor hard before she slid through the opening. She came through the doors and out on the tenth floor just as the lift's cable gave a loud twang and a snap, the man's scream was loud at first, but got smaller and smaller as the car fell down towards the lobby.

Breathing hard, Tara bent down and rubbed her sore neck with her hands. She heard a crash and a rumble far below him. "Looks like he found his floor," she said softly to herself.

Oh. While you're online, I wanted to remind you that you said you were going to pm me about wrath. I'm not trying to be facetious, or rude, I just wanted to remind you.

Also, I am doing research.
EDIT: I could take on Storm Shadow as an assassin. He's already got the training to be one anyhow. But now that We're bringing James Moriarty into things, I think He could be rewrit as an assassin with a genius intellect.
