Why does it matter? Anyways. -clears throat-

Here is a list of RPs I am interested in doing, but first...some ground rules & facts:

I usually dabble between high casual - advanced when it comes to skills. I prefer a paragraph or more per reply. Romance is acceptable, but not the focal point of the story (ies). Gore is acceptable.

Genres:
Steampunk
High Fantasy
Medieval War
Post-apocalyptic
Animals (Wolves, in particular...)

Fandoms -- I prefer OCs, however, if we can agree on an impressive story, I will consider canon characters. I am open to suggestions.

Anime
-Fruits Basket
-Fullmetal Alchemist
-.Hack//
-Fate/Stay Night - Fate/Zero
-Wolf's Rain
-Digimon
-Pokemon
-Sword Art Online

Eh, I honestly couldn't care less. An RP is an RP. If it's a chick playing a guy and vice versa, it doesn't bother me at all. It isn't real. That's what roleplaying is all about, isn't it?

Seems lilt wants the other participant to RP their own cast of character interacting with another cast of chracters and seeing what clings and what dies.

Oh, hey HoS.

Gimmee a month and I can assemble a team of fuedal post-apocolyptic (or post black-death/crusades/etc) team returning to a home they scracely recognize, and discover a roving band of brigands in the area.
Last time I did the Sino-soviet bit of this

Indeed, Foster.

I believe I know you from the original Roleplayer Guild. I will keep my original username disclosed, however, just know that I've been a member on this site for quite a few years.

I seem to recall something about pestering Ender Wiggin and defending a place called Ashpoint.

I think it varies. As he said, it can be comfort. For me, it's just a history of bad female partners. I used to let women play men all the time. Years worth of allowing it. But soon I realized that I was sick of 9 out of 10 always pulling the same bullshit that would ruin the RP. This also stopped me from RPing lesbian based RPs because most of the females would do the same things.
Some were just obsessing over their own characters, trying to force me to also play a male midway into the RP so they could randomly have a female character, never contributing to the RP and expecting me to play everyone (then getting mad when I would bring it up to them), and so forth.
So, for me, I was just burned by one too many incompetent female partners. I still try to get back into lesbian RPs from time to time, but...yeah, it's just a total burnout for me.

I also want to make it clear I don't think women cannot play men. I have had some VERY great female partners who could play men spot on. It just tended to go into a cycle of bad roleplays and the occassional good partner just couldn't make up for the overwhelming bad.

Thank you. XD Unfortunately, you are right on some aspects of how it's weird. Most people don't have my experience with opposite gender characters. They just don't feel comfortable or just don't think it's 'acceptable' to play what you aren't.

Where I used to RP was the worst due to immature kids (and I mean kids even into their 20s by how they acted).
Worst were the people who, instead of asking why I didn't allow it when I finally stopped, they'd go into a bitch-fit about how I was being 'unfair' and how I should be willing to play males as well.
This made me think; "Wait, I should be FORCED to play something I don't want to make YOU happy?"
Roleplay is about finding partners who like/want the same thing in an RP, not trying to force others to do as you want.

Here, people seem a lot more docile about it. They question things like you do, but they rarely go into this fit of how 'it's so unfair that we cannot make people do what we want'.

We make threads like these to find partners who match our tastes, not to be berated by children who cannot accept that we don't like the same thing as they do... It's kind of like...I have a few threads up. Yesterday, 4 people messaged me to RP...and none of them apparently read the thread because they wanted things I clearly stated I wasn't offering. Lol.

Yeah...there's a reason why I took a long hiatus from RPing and forums in general. There's a lot of immature brats that want everything perfect and handed to them on a silver platter and don't seem to be interested in working towards something great that's beneficial for both parties (long-winded, run on sentence...yes, I know). I can understand your frustration and experience with dealing with disjointed females for coherency's sake, however, I still do not understand why so many people don't want to RP the gender opposite to their own simply because it is "weird".

Everyone sucks at first, but I'm sure they've watched more than enough movies or read enough books to at least try to fix that, but I digress. I appreciate your honesty and time to explain your stance on this entire predicament.

For myself, it's a simple, selfish, and stupid reason. I like romantic plots when I do 1x1s, so long as there's still plot. I tend to get heavily invested in my characters emotionally, and it tends to bleed out a little toward the RPer I'm working with, even though it's not intentional.

But if I'm RPing with another male, when they're RPing a female character...

Yeah, that just would get weird.

Plus, I'm looking for someone to socialize with as much as I am someone to RP with, and I already have enough male friends. >_____>

As I said, Simple, Selfish, Stupid.

No a problem.

As for playing males, or trying to on my end, I have. It's just not fun to me. I rather go into an RP knowing I'll enjoy it than half ass it and hate myself for doing it. Some people love playing specific characters and others don't. I'm not a main male OC person unless it's a non romantic way. That's my standpoint. I can play main males, but if there is going to be romance, I have to be a female. But this can stem from many things, but mostly that I am a bi-demisexual. So, I like being with men and I like being with girls. I do not have any interest in being a male with a girl... It's just not my strong suit. Lol. I do look good in a suit though. With sunglasses, I pull off a men-in-black look. Haha.

Anyways. I appreciate everyone's input on the matter, however, I am going to have to leave it at that and go no further. The title was simply a ploy to get people to look at my topic. Although, it was a curiosity, as well...more so a ploy than an overbearing investigation.

It's a trap!

That aside, most traps are generally geared towards a certain elusive quarry.

Meh, I could care less who I'm roleplaying with. For me, it's more about the effort of the roleplay than anything else. So if it's alright with you, I'd like to give an MLP roleplay with you a go. Just want to try this out for once to be honest, if not nothing else.

I won't lie, I have had bad experiences with female partners. It doesn't bother me what roles they play, what bothers me is that the female partners I've had have been horrible with communication. Off the top of my head, I know for a fact that I've had 4 female roleplay partners that I know for sure were females in real life. One of those partners actually had two screen names and I roleplayed with both. That same partner ditched both roleplays without a word, and when I asked if everything was alright, I got no response. (I know it was the same person because they slipped in their post and used the character names of the first roleplay we had together.) I don't nag. I ask once if everything is alright, and if I get no response after another week I consider it dropped. Out of the other three female partners, the other two disappeared without a word as well. Out of all four, only one actually informed me that she was dropping because she lost interest in the story.

I rarely have that problem with my male partners. Plus, my male partners have always been great about OOC chat. They talk about what they want to add or change about the story, and almost always add something to help things move along. The female partners I've had, I ended up carrying quite a bit of the story. I don't mind it, but really, what's the point in writing with someone if they don't want to throw in ideas? It's boring for them and tiring for me.

However, I will say that the female partners that I had were great writers, all things considered. I was truly sad to lose the stories. It's just their flightiness that ruined it for me.
