Willie moved throughout the city of Chicago in a military like fashion. Moving at a quick pace, stopping periodically to crouch and observe the area around him, making sure the immediate area wasn't too dangerous to move through. He was in the middle of the city, and the monsters were in significant numbers, moving about idly without direction. Very few noticed Willie, and when they did they began to slowly walk, limp, sometimes crawl towards him, but at the speed he was moving they were soon left behind. He carried with him an M4 Carbine Rifle modified with a combat knife to be used as a bayonet, a hatchet attached to his belt using leather, a 9mm in it's holster, and an olive green military backpack with the name "Okonma" stitched onto it. The backpack contains: A scope attachment, 2 grenades, a smoke grenade, claymore, bottles of water, military rations, binoculars, canteen, gas mask, rope, and an untouched first aid kit.

Willie moved through buildings and alleyways, sticking to the sidewalk and only moving through the streets at crosswalks. He gripped his carbine rifle tightly, his military experience showed as he moved through the city in search of his brothers garage, an Auto Repair & Body Shop. At the state the city was in, it was much too dangerous to take shelter here, he didn't expect to find his brother at the garage, but he had nowhere else to look. Willie stopped as he was approaching an intersection. He crouched beside a building and peeked to the street at his right. His heart jumped as a crowd of at least ten monsters, maybe more, made their way towards his direction. He moved out of their sight and sat still, holding his rifle to his chest, not making a sound. If they spotted him, shooting would be a waste of ammo and he would have to make a run for it. He held his breath as the crowd moved past him, continuing down the street, and let out a sigh of relief as they didn't appear to have noticed him there. He continued down the street the crowd of monsters came from and moved on wards to his brothers garage.
As exhausted as he was, Dean couldn't sleep for more than a couple hours before having a nightmare. He had gotten used to it over time, and found that he could get a lot more done during the night since he couldn't sleep, but he still hated it. He stood up from the living room floor filled with blankets and pillows collected from all over the house, and yawned as he stretched, then rolled up his right sleeve to check his watch. It was 5:42 PM , silence filled the room. He looked out the window, making sure his truck was still there, then grabbed his baseball bat and casually checked all the rooms of the house. He did this everytime he had fallen asleep, the monsters were alot quieter than you'd think. He had learned this from a not so fun experience.

As he moved throughout the house he realized he didn't have a chance to actually look through the rooms thoroughly when he cleared the place, and gave a somewhat sad sigh as he opened the door to an empty children's room. He felt sick again. After he checked the rest of the house Dean made his way downstairs to the kitchen, checking the cabinets and fridge that were still covered in blood, but it had dried up. The cabinets were empty and the fridge contained fruit and milk but the fruit was rotten and the milk was expired. Although he did manage to find a few canned soups and boxes of raisins. He placed the food on the kitchen table and went to the living room to grab his maps.
Dean sat at the dinner table, several maps were laid out in front of him. He snacked on the raisins he had found and began to create a map of the neighborhood his safehouse was in, deciding tomorrow he would begin searching through several of the houses in the area. People are unpredictable so who knows what would he could find. There was also a high school nearby, which would be risky to explore. If the school was empty or at least not too filled with creatures to the point where it could be cleared, it would be a lot safer than where he was staying at the moment.

As he sat there, he could hear the sound of an engine nearby before jumping from his seat and sprinting to the window as a car drove somewhat fast down the street and past the safehouse. Dean took a few steps back, and felt very uneasy. His truck was the only vehicle on the block that appeared functional, and his makeshift alarm was clearly man made. Had the driver saw it? If they had, what if they were thieves and came back later tonight. He knew he was being a bit paranoid but he couldn't help but feel worried. He would just have to stay alert for the next few days. "Fuck, I already have enough trouble sleeping." Dean thought to himself.

Emma stayed close to the vacant buildings, passing darkened windows as she made her way in and out of open doors and through alleys like a mouse making his way through a hole in the wall, desperate to stay hidden from the monstrous humans who occupied the home. The scenario wasn't much different at all. Monstrous humans was actually the perfect thing to term the things Emma was avoiding. Her light footsteps echoed in the silence, bringing some life to what was the skeleton of Chicago. She could smell the crisp air, see the ghosts of dozens of cars zooming down the street and of people making their way down the sidewalk, in tune with only their own business and that of the person on the other side of their cellphone call. Now there was nothing but the paved streets and empty establishments to give her a sense of feeling alive. She often felt like a ghost herself. She was constantly alone and the idea of it often made her question if she even counted as existing. If no one knew you existed, did you?

Emma's gaze fell upon a vehicle as she made her way through a the window of an abandoned candy shop. She had went in the damn thing hoping to add to her candy collection only to find nothing but a gum ball. She blew a pink, translucent bubble from her thin lips, pondering whether someone owned it and if it even functioned. It probably wasn't even worth the trouble considering she had no idea how to drive. The bubble popped as the roar of an engine filled the air. She quickly retreated back into the shop and ducked. The sound of the engine got closer and closer to the point she knew it was right there then it seemed to start to fade away from the area. Gratefully, it seemed she hadn't been spotted. Emma climbed back off in time to watch the car disappear in the distance.

Sensing a presence, she glanced up in time to see a guy looking out the window. He backed off not too long after she spotted him. That must have been his car. She could hear her mother chastising her about how stealing was wrong no matter how tiny the item. It probably wouldn't be that useful anyway considering she had seen infected big enough to grab the thing and squish it in its hands. She blew another bubble, letting the thought of confronting this guy and making an ally of him fill her mind. Trusting him would be a risk and she was already wasting her time here. The guy did not seem to catch sight of her and continuing on her way probably would have been the safe route. She took a quick scope of the surroundings and made sure it was empty before she took a few steps back; she had decided to let him catch sight of her and see how he reacted. Emma was too bored to go the safe route.

To Ryan's word the stranger immediately turned around and pointed a knife at him. He expected it, but still pulled back a little, just to be sure. She asked how long has he been watching. Maybe she didn't finish yet, he thought. He also saw that she was the suspicious kind - you had to earn her trust first. Much like himself.

"For a while now, sorry for surpising you." he finally answered the girl's question. "I saw what you did with that man over there. Impressive, I must say! I don't think he's gonna last long in a basement like that...May I help?" he saw before how much she did for the man and he wanted to help too. The more survirors, the better, after all. A little silence followed all this. Ryan took this time to examine her a little more. She looked a few years older than him, but he was larger, just by a bit. She was most probably Japanese. Even though they didn't talk too much to each other yet, he felt that she was really caring.

Because of all the thoughts suddenly racing in his head, he even forgot to introduce himself.
"Oh, where are my manners? My name is Ryan. Ryan Baird. I'm from a nearby village, or what's left of it. I came to the city in hope to find fellow survivors and to take shelter for night. I found this house to be the most sufficient for the latter. I didn't know that there are other people there. Nice to meet you. What's...what's your name?"

As Carlee walked through what used to be the West Loop of Chicago, she couldn't help but imagine what it used to look like. Thousands of people walking thorugh here every hour, the same amount of cars each minute. Now it was all reduced to waste, and it reeked of chemicals, blood, and corpses. Every sound she heard made her jump with fright. Every gust of wind brought another onslaught of stench that she wanted to forget. The dead lay on the ground, inside windows, on doorsteps, everywhere except where they were meant to be...in the ground.

She was alone in this city and it was only a matter of time before she died. Before she was found and attacked or worse...starved to death by a lack of resources. Carlee gripped her machete tightly in her left hand as she heard a thump from behind her. She spun around and waited, silently, all she heard was the wind and papers being blown across the city streets. Relaxing only a bit, Carlee thought survival. She needed to find people. Preferably a group of uninfected people. She needed food, and if they didn't give her any, she would steal it and leave. She had to find high ground, a better means of defending herself, and a place to sleep. She was exausted and it was growing more unignorable with every step she took.

Hours passed and she hadent run into any living thing...healthy or infected for that matter, She was begenning to think she was the only one out here and it was a thought that depressed her even more. She stopped for a moment to look around and noticed her hands were starting to shake a bit. She was soon going to get to a point where the roaring of her stomach was going to alert the attention of those monsters she was trying so hard to stay away from. Carlee looked at the sky, it was light but the sky was darkening and she knew she had to find a place to stay really quick, but there was no one here to help her.

I cant do this on my own... she thought to herself before she sat down against a tree and sighed. She felt tears sting her eyes and she dropped her machete onto the grass next to her. She had not given up just yet, but she was damn close to calling it quits. She didn't know what to do anymore....

She was lost.

Slowly, Takiko lowered the knife as the guy talked. He seemed to be a few years younger than her, with short brown hair and not much taller than herself. His built was probably the opposite of the muscular James' lying behind her. It seemed the conditions they had been living in had had much the same effect on his body as it had on her own. Unusually thin, but she was at least well trained. He -Ryan, she corrected herself- Ryan, seemed anything but dangerous. Or at least not someone she wouldn't be able to handle if he did turn out to be dangerous. She sighed and put the knife back in its sheath in her boot, lifting her knee for that motion, but never letting him out of sight. She wondered, for a second, when she had grown into such a suspiscious person.

"Takiko." she answered his question, then remembered the rest of what he'd said. "You're right, I could use some help. But I need to stitch him back together first, you could hold the flashlight for now." She paused, then added. "You're alright with blood?" Just to make sure. He already looked like he wasn't too strong, so getting James, literally dead weight at the moment, upstairs would be quite the chore. If Ryan ended up queasy and sick from the sight of some blood, they wouldn't be able to get James anywhere.

She glanced back at her patient, still ou cold. For one part it relieved her, since she wasn't finished with him yet, for the other she was growing worried that his head might've taken a hit it couldn't take. WIth one last glance at the newcomer, she turned back around, her hands going to James's throat again, fingers searching for his pulse, then staying there. She concentrated, making sure he was at least rbeathing normally. With a satisfied nod, she sad up again and looked back at Ryan. "Sorry, No time for good manners, I need to close that wound. That one lying over there is already too risky. I'm trying to avoid infection or inflammation." she explained, for the latter gesturing towards the creature lying in the corner.

For about 10 minutes Willie continued through Chicago, moving through buildings and alleyways. After a while he realized he had lost his sense of direction and didn't quite know where he was. It was going to get dark soon, so he needed to find out how far the garage was before he could decide whether or not to move on or seek shelter. He didn't know which was more dangerous. Fortunately there hadn't been any monsters about and he seemed to have entered somewhat of a deserted part of the city. He moved more calmly but remained cautious. Willie took cover in an alleyway and pulled out a map of Chicago. He knew the street he was looking for and skimmed the map momentarily before finding it. It was too far, so it looked like shelter was his next objective. Uncomfortably he looked around, everything was so silent. It was a hard thing to get used to, before everything had happened, Willie loved people. That was the hardest part of all of this to him. You don't realize how nice it is to have people around you until you're moving through a city alone.

Peeking out the alleyway to check it was clear, Willie moved forward with caution, gripping his carbine rifle. He saw a tree in the distance but didn't think much of it, until he realized there was a figure laying beside it. He quickly took a defensive stance, aiming his sights on the figure. The monsters didn't usually lay or sit down, unless of course they were dead. Or alive. If the figure was an infected, it would be pointless to shoot and easier to take it down using the makeshift bayonet on his rifle. Willie kept his defensive stance as he slowly approached the tree.

A great sense of relief overcame him when he could see that the figure was a person, a young girl, sitting with her back against the tree. But why was she sitting in a place like this? She could possibly be bitten and on the verge of becoming one of the monsters, approaching her now was too risky, he didn't like it but he had to keep his rifle pointed at her, she didn't appear to be bitten from what he could see but now wasn't the time to be so careless. He approached the girl slowly, keeping his aim steady, until he was about 25 yards from her position.

"Excuse me" Willie shouted "Hey girl, you alright? Are you hurt? I won't hurt'cha"
Dean felt uneasy. His stomach hurt and his head began to ring. He already knew sleep wasn't an option tonight, hell if that car hadn't passed he still probably wouldn't be sleeping tonight. His mind was racing with paranoia. He looked around the living room, unsure of what to do next, when he saw a figure move outside the window. At first he thought he was seeing things, but as he stepped towards the window to get a better view, he realized he wasn't. Somebody was standing outside, across the street. Dean's stomach twisted and he immediately ducked out of sight under the window and began to crawl backwards until his back hit the couch.

There was no doubt somebody was outside. How long had that person been there? He had barely noticed after the car passed, fear overcame Dean as he pondered whether or not that person was associated with those in the vehicle. His house was probably being staked out, or even worse, he had picked up a tail, and they could raid his house any minute. Dean put his head down and placed his hands on his forehead. He wasn't thinking clearly. It was unwise to make any of these assumptions before actually seeing who this person was and what their intentions were. He got up to his feet but remained in a crouching position, and silently moved through the house, his equipment lay next to the front door. Frantically he pulled out his pistol and loaded it with a full clip. He had never fired a gun before but whoever was outside wouldn't know, and it would be dumb to go out here with a bat, even though he kind of preferred too.

Dean looked up to the door, gripping the 9mm in his right hand, and opened it. The person remained across the street and from this position Dean could tell it was a girl. He moved down the front porch stairs slowly, leaving the door opened behind him and aiming the gun with both hands towards the girl. He walked with caution on the lawn before stopping and standing in place. He realized that if this girl was hypothetically associated with the thieves, this could be a distraction. The thought made his heart beat fast but he couldn't break character. He gripped the pistol tightly, aiming right at her chest.

"What do you want?" he yelled across the street.

Carlee slowly raised her head once she heard someone's voice.

"Excuse me. Hey girl, you alright? Are you hurt? I won't hurt'cha"

She looked in the direction of the man calling her and she saw he had a gun pointed her way. She was afraid for a split second but realized then that it was only because he was being cautious. "I'm...fine, not hurt." she said, standing slowly so she didn't seem like a threat. "I'm alone but im not infected..." she noticed the sky was growing darker and darker. "I need help." she said looking at the man. "Please..." She leaned back against the tree. Her head was spinning and she didnt really have much fight left in her. Carlee hoped whoever this guy was had a good enough heart to spare her some water. Then she could at least be able to walk to where ever this guy was going.

On the other hand, he could just shoot her now and end all of this trouble. Yeah...not really a bad idea all things considering. she sarcasticly thought to herself as she bent down to pick up her machete.

Emma watched the boy come out of his building and yell across the street. He seemed like the extremely paranoid type which wasn't a bad type of person to be in this kind of world, nonetheless she wasn't one of them. By the looks of it, he was only a couple of years older than her and he didn't seem like the psychotic type. He would do. She turned to him, her loose braid bouncing off her shoulder. "I'm just standing around. What gave you the idea I wanted anything from you?"She inquired with a giggle. "Besides, that's no way to greet a lady. Do you see me pointing guns at every person that happens to pass by? " Cautiously, she began to approach him. She took care not to show any threat as she did. Emma did not get much closer but she was close enough for him to take a few steps and shake her hand. She held out her hand, "I'm Emma. Nice to meet you. "

It turned out that the girl's name was Takiko and that she was indeed in the need of help. After the introduction, she put her knife back to a sheath, much to Ryan's relief. Despite the initial surprise, she didn't look too fazed by his sudden appearance, as she has already turned back to the patient, asking the boy to hold the flashlight while she stiches the man back together, which he quickly accepted. A short break followed, aftwe which she asked if he can handle blood. And that was exactly the question he wanted to avoid.
Damn Ryan, now you've got yourself into trouble... he thought. He suddenly felt worthless - there's someone here fighting for the life of a fellow survivor and he is getting sick from the sight of blood?! Taking a bleeding and seemingly heavy man up the basement stairs and then somewhere else? That sounded like a nightmare to him.

He made a decision - it was time to man up. Hard times, he needed to be hardened as well. Silently gulping one, he said:
"Yeah...surely. Just tell me when you've finished." and he kept the flashlight over the wound Takiko seemingly planned to close. It looked kind of severe, leaving it open would be very, very dangerous for the patient. Precisely, it could cause infection or inflammation as the girl explained to him. He planned on asking more about the nature of the wound and other things as she looked very knowledgeable about the topic, but he saw that she was really concentrating and he didn't want to interrupt.

Tim hunkered down next an old stoop of what would seem to be an apartment building. He was exhausted after the last few months of travel either by being attack by raiders or by monsters along the way. He had not seen any sight of his former friends and comrades in arms since they split up all those months ago. A loud grumbling sound came out of Tim's stomach as he had run out of food lately. "Man ran out of those MRE's I had stashed for my annual backpacking vacation with my buds" quietly grumbled Tim. "Came out of my hidey hole just to find a morsel of food to eat and hopefully water or even more water filtration packets to get myself some clean water so I can keep on going" mumbled Tim as he kept a low crouch and trying to blend into the shadows. Luckily for Tim he had not seen any monsters out today and even more cheerily nobody wanting to shoot and or stab his ass for just existing in this fucked up world. He really needed to find a friendly group or something in order to give him numbers for protection and somebody to talk to. Getting a little boring having nothing to say and talking to himself to keep his mind from going stir crazy.

He slowly creeped towards what looked like an old convenience store / gas station in his search of much need supplies and the such. Watching both sides Tim blended in with the shadows in order to keep his presence hidden and going heel to toe to keep his foot steps light and as soundless as possible to not gather some unwanted attention. When he went to cross the street he saw a park nearby. And two people talking to each other. Tim could barely make out the features at all but the one thing he could figure out was one was a male and the other a female. Ducking behind a car he sat and watched the two strangers trying to figure out if they had seen him or not.

As soon as the girl said she wasn't infected Willie rushed over to her. He put the safety on his rifle and set it down before gently grabbing the girl, examining her body and checking for injuries, fever, etc "Don't worry honey you're alright, I gotcha. Here, you need to sit down real quick." Willie said as he evaluated the girl. She didn't appear to have any physical injuries, but she was pale, and appeared weak, so it would be safe to assume she hadn't eaten in quite some time and was exhausted. Willie took a knee, gently bringing her down with him and laying her against the tree. "What's your name sweetheart? We need to get you out of here and get some food in'ya. When was the last time you had something to eat or drink?" He asked in a friendly tone as he shuffled through his bag, pulling out a canteen and offering it to the girl with a smile.
Emma was so calm and careless it bothered Dean at first. The possibility of this being a distraction lingered in his head, but he looked around, and realized they were alone, and he was pointing a gun at a girl who was simply standing outside the house. He looked at Emma, who was clearly innocent and not a threat at all, at least as far as he knew, and then the gun, pointing right at her. Dean was disgusted with himself, and stopped aiming at her. He couldn't help but feel suspicious of her but that was probably just the paranoia and lack of sleep screwing with his thinking. He was disappointed in himself, he had forgot that real people actually existed. Dean approached Emma slowly, shaking her hand. "I'm Dean." he said quietly. A strange feeling overcame him, and Dean realized at that moment he hadn't actually touched another human being in months. Emma's hand felt warm, not in a sense of heat but, it was warm with life. "I uh, i'm sorry I pointed a gun at you. It's just, you know how it is I guess." Dean said as he let go of her hand. She seemed to be alone, which was odd. Emma looked so young, and so care free. He envied her. "What are you doing out here?" He asked quietly.

Lex stood impatiently above the door as the little girl and Jim squeezed into the hole. Before following the two into safety, she glanced down either side of the alley. As she looked down the side behind her, she noticed someone running hurriedly towards her. “Y-YOU GOTTA HELP ME! P-PLEASE.”

It was an older man, yet not “Jim old,” and his veiny, red eyes were frantic and swollen. As he waited for an answer, his eyes would continuously search the surrounding area. Lex could see the man’s hands shaking severely. “DRAGONS. FIRE-BREATHING DRAGONS. THEY’RE COMING.” Lex looked at the man as if he were crazy. “You mean the creatures?” She said slowly.

“NO I SAW THEM. LONG TAILS AND FIRE COMING OUT OF THEIR MOUTHS.”

Lex continued staring at the man. “Alright, then.” All in one breath, Lex whipped out her knife and, with the dull end of the knife, wacked the man on the back of the head. The man now lay on the ground in a slump and Lex quickly hurried into the hole, slamming the door shut and locking it tight.

“What was’at noise?” Jim asked her.

“Nothing, I was just talking to myself,” she replied, pulling the backpack off of her back and throwing it to the ground. “So, did you get anythin’ good?” Spoke Jim again.

“No. Who’s the girl?” Lex was not happy with Jim. Not only had he disobeyed her instructions, but he welcomed a complete stranger into his company. Even though she was a child, it was possible she was with others who may be looking for her. There was no way she could survive out there all on her own.

“This is Kat,” Jim patted the top of the little girls head. “She was sittin’ just outside waitin’ for ‘er brother, so I decided to wait with ‘er.” Jim spoke joyfully as usual, ignoring the anger in Lex’s voice.

Lex stuck both of her hands in her hair, “Are you stupid? Someone’s looking for her. What happens when they find her? We have no idea who this is and whether he’ll rip our heads off or not! When are you going to start thinking before you act, Jim? The world isn’t like it used to be.” Jim let Lex go off on her rant and gave Kat a sideways glance. “Ya hungry?” He asked Kat while walking to an almost empty shelf. Jim handed her a can of peaches whether she had said yes or no. After that, he grabbed a dusty blue blanket and put it over Kat’s shoulders. Jim could tell Lex was burning holes into the back of his head with her glare, but he continued on as if she weren’t there.

A few days later and Lex still wasn’t speaking to Jim. She lay fast asleep on the ground facing the wall, a once soft, fuzzy purple blanket now tattered and dull spread across her whole body. “Psst,” Jim tapped on Kat’s shoulder, unsure if she were sleeping or awake. “I need to get some fresh air, wanna go f’er a walk?” Lex ordered that they stay underground for a few days, and they did just that. Now, three days later, Jim was restless and needed get away from this stale, dusty air. Quietly, Jim made his way to the steep steps and slowly unlatched the door. Up above there wasn’t a thing in site and it was so quiet you would almost question if you were deaf. He didn’t look back to see if Kat would follow, but he assume she would. It would be awkward in the cave alone with Lex, especially since Lex despised her. Maybe even them both?

Once outside, Jim stretched his arms, flabby from weight loss, straight into the air and then side to side, letting out a big sigh following. He began walking down the alley, first waiting for Kat, and began humming a little tune. Of course he was on high alert, just in the case of Brute appearing, but there was no reason for any to be attracted to this place. Unless, of course, there were others in the area who weren’t being careful of how loud they were.

Tim kept starring at the couple across the way. The two seemed anxious of each other...well more one than the other. As the male walked closer, Volk got an idea in his head "Maybe they are friendly, no shooting so far and to be honest I could do with the company. If I am lucky they might have some food worth sharing and a place worth staying at. A bit optimistic but anything at this point is worth trying granted the possible outcomes. But maybe I should move closer and get a little more detail on the situation." Using the cars as cover and crawling here and there and remaining low to the ground making next to no noise as possible and praying to his ancestors he would not be spotted or shot he moved in quietly and as close to them as he could till their conversation as understandable he caught a caught a portion of the conversation "I'm Emma. Nice to meet you."

The boy moved up to Emma ever so slowly almost paranoid as anybody would be in this world at this point. The gun in his hand drew his attention at first. "Glock 34 17 round magazine, 9mm round, easy to conceal and easy to use." thought Volk. The boy dropped his guard and thankfully his shaky hand that held the gun. He reached out and shook Emma's Hand "I'm Dean." The kid wasn't triggering any signs of distrust so far or possible wanting for mugging / killing. "Maybe these two are friendly, this is my only chance and I may as well take it. Hell or high water I need to make some friends traveling by myself is getting dangerous and I need friends." Making sure his weapons are put away and out of reach so as not to come off as threatening he sighs and raises his hands and slowly starts standing up. "Do not shoot, I mean no harm, just saw ya both across the way and listened in long enough to hear your names. The names Timothy Volk, friends call me Wolfie, granted if I knew where the hell they went, How do you do?" said Volk in a calm measured manner.

Dean jumped as Timothy introduced himself, and instinctively pointed the pistol at him and pulled the trigger. He would've shot Timothy right in the chest if the safety on the gun wasn't on. Dean began walking backwards, realizing he had almost killed a man, and began pointing the gun back and forth between Emma and Timothy. Of course Emma didn't seem to be too much of a threat but Timothy looked much more capable and deadly. It was a huge coincidence to encounter two people in one day, within minutes even. Dean felt like he was dreaming but he knew he wasn't. His mind was racing and he tried his best to think rationally. How likely was it the two were working together? Timothy seemed friendly enough but he was calm, and so was Emma. They were acting the same, so it could be a plan to gain his trust and take him out the minute they entered the house. Dean's stomach twisted as he realized maybe the two weren't acting the same, and maybe Dean was just going crazy. They both looked so friendly and calm. Deans hands shaked as he aimed the gun at Timothy.

"How long have you been there?! What do you want with me?!" He shouted.

"Whoah Whoah there bud calm down for bit." Tim said in a calm manner. The factor when Dean pulled the trigger and did not fire only meant one of two things safety was on or it was out of ammo. Either way luck of his ancestors was on his side today. "Listen jumpy I am going to lay down all my stuff in front of you and you can pat me down make sure I am safe and not hiding anything, after that lets help the girl back to a safe location and have a friendly conversation." calmly explained Tim. As Tim takes the straps off his alice pack and his belt holding his sword in a slow calm manner he begins again. "As I stated I mean no harm, nor do I know either one of you. I saw you two from the convenience store out behind me. I was going to raid the place but then I saw you and the girl. Figured I try to be friendly and say hi without you shooting me or running away. I am really hungry and all I have left is a Hershey chocolate bar in my bag from my last MRE. Plus i have been on the road for months being chased by monsters and raiders. Figure if you guys were friendly maybe make a group with ya both. And for how long have I been there long enough for you two to exchange names and figure out you are not a bad person." Tim went on a lengthy explanation.

It had been a long time since she had felt the skin of a fellow human being. It was kind of nice knowing there was someone else around. "That's alright. Better safe than sorry."She told him, " I know you're probably thinking I'm probably fourteen or something but I should be turning eighteen sometime soon... Not that I know when exactly. Anyways I'm just making my way through, looking for anything useful." This Dean boy was funny. She couldn't remember a time that someone ever found her threatening. Usually people laughed her off as some blonde chick trying to act tough with a little pistol.

A sudden voice made Emma jump. "Do not shoot, I mean no harm, just saw ya both across the way and listened in long enough to hear your names. The names Timothy Volk, friends call me Wolfie, granted if I knew where the hell they went, How do you do?" There was a guy with his hands up. Emma didn't have much experience with robbers or anything but she was pretty sure this guy had the same motives as she did which wasn't any.

"Oh hello. I'm alright, how do you do?"She greeted with a friendly smile which was really quite opposite of Dean's reaction. She sighed and glanced at Dean,"Dean, I know things are freaky and stuff but I'm going to need you to take a deep breath there. I promise I won't hurt you and this guy probably won't either. I he acts up we can kick him to death if that makes you feel better." She stopped talking and let Timothy speak. After he was done talking, she said, "I have some canned stuff I got. It's getting pretty heavy anyway I can give you something. Let's go sit down somewhere and relax a little. I've been walking for hours anyway. "

Carlee practically snatched the canteen out of the man's hands and drank it. Water had never tasted so good and it took every ounce of will in her being not to drink it all down and leave nothing left in there. Though still thirsty she let out a satisfied sigh and gave it back to him. "Thank you so much mister. You dont know how much i needed that. ...its been about three days since i had anything. I was staying at the airport with my father and at least a hundred other people...but the infected got in and i didnt have time to take a good amount of food with me. I dont know if anyone else got out...." she trailed off as she thought about her dad and all those people who were attacked. It made her want to cry but she held back and wiped at the tears before they dared to fall. "Are you alone....or is anyone else with you?" she asked him. She normally would have been wary of the man because she didnt know who to trust anymore...but he had helped her and risked his life...so this one time she would lower her guard. "My name is Carlee by the way" she added.

It didn't surprise Willie how fast Carlee took the canteen from his hands, when she offered it back to him he simply raised his hand and shook his head with a smile, she clearly needed it more than him. When she spoke of what happened at the airport it saddened Willie. "What a damn shame." He remarked. At least a hundred people could be mindless, disgusting creatures. He wouldn't wish something like that on his worst enemy. He would have to keep a mental note that the airport is a potentially dangerous place, and should be off limits. "Pleasure to meet'cha Carlee, i'm Willie"[b] He said once more with a friendly tone while extending his arm for a handshake. [b]"I'm by myself at the moment, but i'm looking for my brother, Franklin. He should be here in Chicago, and if i'm lucky he's not too far from here. He's s'posed to be held up in his garage a few miles down."[b] He gestured down the street as he put his backpack back on.

Willie stood up and helped Carlee to her feet. [b]"But that can wait for later. We need to get somewhere safe, preferably without any of our uh, 'guests' taking up the place."
He gave a small laugh as he picked up his rifle, and scoped the area out for a moment. There was a bar across the street, the taste of a cold beer filled Willie's mouth, even though any beer that could be found in the bar would probably taste like shit by now. "Maybe there could be some whiskey or scotch in'there. Get's better with age"[b] He thought to himself with a smile. [b]"There's a bar across the street, doesn't seem to bad, we could clear it out, stay there for the night and rest, then if you're feeling better leave in the mornin?"[b] He asked as he looked up and down the street, gripping his rifle.

Willie looked to Carlee with somewhat of a cautious look on his face, but the friendly vibe was still there. [b]"Can'ya walk?"

Both Timothy and Emma's tone suggested that the only actual threat at the moment was Dean himself. He stopped aiming once more, looking back and forth between Emma and Timothy. They were obviously friendly people, and only wanted to help, as well as have some help of their own. Dean looked to the floor, and for the 3rd time he felt like throwing up. His head hurt and his mind was clouded, this life was starting to finally get to him. He thought of his mother and where she could be while tightening his grip on the pistol. He wished it was his baseball bat instead, and he was at school practicing for tomorrows game. Today wasn't a very good day. He rubbed his head with the gun in his hand, and looked to the ground as he spoke.

"I'm staying here for a while." He gestured to the house behind him. " You two can come in if you want." Dean turned and walked towards the house, expecting them to follow. He didn't trust them and he didn't not trust them, he wasn't in the right place at the moment to make any kind of decisions, and simply walked up the steps and into the house. If they were actually plotting to kill and rob him, he didn't care.

Tim waited for Dean to turn around and head back to his current homely abode. Gathering his belongings from the ground and gingerly putting them onto his back he started forward. Dean, from what Tim could tell, looked out of it either tired or just plain worn out by everything that was going on around him. Tim had seen those days also, more times than he would like to admit, maybe a friendly conversation or at least small talk might help the kid out hell it would help him out too. Turning his head around to motion to come with Volk saw Emma for the first time in any close detail. For the first time in months maybe even a year it startled Volk to see her face. Her face triggered a long forgotten memory of the mist and the apocalypse that had followed suite. The breath taking blue eyes coupled with the curly rays of the sun blonde hair, for a moment it reminded of Sarina his girlfriend that died to a pack of mutated wolves on that fateful first night when everything had changed. Memories triggered of him hesitating as a pack of those ugly beasts pouncing on them and him panicking trying to save his life or his loved one. The only time in his life that he froze and because of that he lost her along with his heart, from that moment he had made a pack to never lose sight of the target, goal, or situation so no one else may die because of him.

Realizing that tears were filling his eyes he quickly turned around headed forward wiping the tears from his face and with his other motioning forward to follow. "Fucking idiot" thought Tim "crying in front of someone you just met, buck up you idiot and keep a smile on, gotta keep morale up or your going to wallow in your own misery before you even make it to your destination." Taking in a deep breath and marching forward he followed into Dean's abode and tried to kill the memories in his head and his heart, for if they didn't exist he never would hurt so bad again. Without noticing he began singing quietly in a deep voice in almost reminiscent way of Johnny Cash he sang: "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."
