I kind of want to make a custom Dark Magician archetype like I did Blue-Eyes. That sound like a lot of fun, and I always did like him over the dragon.

Dark Magician: "I'm a magician, and I wear purple, and I have a pointy hat! I dare you to laugh!"
*crowd laughs*
DM: "I'm done with you fools, I'll have my student deal with you."
*Dark Magician Girl appears*
*crowd cheers*
DM: -_- "I hate you all."

Well... The Dark Magician is essentially it's own archetype. Dark Magician Girl, Skilled Dark Magician, Dark Magician Knight, Dark Sage, Magician of Black Chaos, Dark Magician of Chaos, Sorcerer of Dark Magic, Dark Paladin... Heck, i'd class Buster Blader, Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Girl as being part of that family... According to the Big Japanese book of lore, Gagaga Magician is the Dark Magicians apprentice.

Gagaga's are their own thing, and not connected to Dark Magician in any way.

Well, yeah, they're pretty blatant expies.

And are pretty good choices for Dark Magician of Illusion Decks.

That makes them a series, not an archetype. They would need a support card that specifically targets "Dark Magician" monsters to be an archetype.

Oh, sorry about that. I don't want to steal your character's thing. Are you using real cards for the deck or creating some new ones?

Just for the sake of argument isn't Dark Magic Attack a support card for Dark Magician?

Also, someone finally explained Pendulum cards to me today... My first thought was "Oh my god, the game is officially broken." but then, after he finished, my thoughts expanded into "This sounds like one of the development team wanted to make their own card game, but since they weren't able to, they shoehorned it's main mechanic into Yu-Gi-Oh! instead.

Essentially, you now have what are called Pendulum zones, a left one and a right one. You can special summon from your hand any monster that has a level inbetween the levels of the Pendulum monsters in those zones.

So, all you need to do is get a level 1 in one zone, and a level 10 in the other, and you can special summon your entire hand for no cost.

So yeah, after a long discussion, we came to the only logical conclusion... The creators are now bored with Yu-Gi-Oh! and so they have decided to break it.

Okay, I'd honestly be up for just dueling with a duelbot to advance at this point. I seriously doubt Matt and I are going to be able to get together to work on our duel, and this is just starting to hold everyone else up.

It is a support for Dark magician specifically, not "Dark Magician" monsters.

It turns out I was wrong about Dark Magician not being an archetype though. It just got it's first support card in "The Eye of Timaeus", so it is now its own archetype.
