Scientists have confirmed that rabies is the virus whose effects on the central nervous system most closely match the popular concept of the zombie. In fact, 97% of the world’s human rabies infections occur via dog bites.
It has been all but eradicated in most countries with modern medicine. But the government has stockpiled every disease that has ever existed in varying amounts. This is defended as studying disease mutations to prepare for the worst.
But if we have rabies vaccine stockpiles, why do we bother keeping the disease? There is only one known strain of rabies virus, and it kills by only one method, inflammation of the brain (encephalitis). It is 100% fatal without treatment, and in the lead-up to death, causes the victim to go insane. Violent acts may or may not occur, but the person is no longer himself. He is something else. Is this what the Government is hiding?
Was the government stockpiling the disease to weaponize it? To destroy their enemies in one mass of infection and chaos?
The war in the Middle East raged on. We destroyed their leaders in a flaming bomb of glory. We were told that it was over. Our men and women were returned to us. They were shipped back by plane. News stories surfaced about foreign fire on the planes that contained our soldiers. Some planes went down in foreign soil. After the missing planes were discovered, more stories fed the public. Violent outburst. Uncontrollable Chaos. Missing family members. Stories spread like wild fire; news bursting in small pockets around the world. Britain, Canada, and the United States were spared when it came to the violent outbreaks. Violence was only heard of from the surrounding areas. Trading did not stop. Traveling did not cease. Life went on as normal. Until it happened...

This is where we start. The goal for your character at the moment is to get to Texas.
You can take a couple of posts to get to where you need to go, but eventually everyone needs to get there. Most likely to the coast.

Info on the Virus and Zombies:
The virus is transmitted by body fluid transmission (ie saliva by a bite, infected blood in the eyes or mouth). It takes about 2 days for the infected to be fully taken over by the virus. The first symptoms are a headache and mild irritability. After the first day, victims become violent, normally attacking the people closest to them as their brain is being taken over. In the final hours, the victim succumbs to painful spasms. It is a very agonizing death. Throughout the change, the victim is contagious. Once bitten, there is certain death if the afflicted limb is not amputated. Once a zombie, they move moderately slow. They are not super fast. The newer zombies only move faster because their bodies have not started to decay. They are sensitive to the sun and fire. They also have an aversion to the water.

☢ Realism. You are not superman or batman for that matter so please try to stay as realistic as possible. If your character gets their leg hurt then act like it, suspense is awesome!
☢ No God-moding! It makes everything boring if everything's too easy. No going bada** zombie killer on me, please. And do not control someone's character if y'all haven't talked it through yet
☢ Diversity. The world is sooo much better with it. Unique characters make a unique role play. All I'm asking is that not every character is some emotionally damaged white girl and a bada** teenage boy, please.
☢ Romance. Now I understand some of you would love to involve this and I think that's fine. In this world you'll need some support and reassurance that a good life can come but please don't make this the main goal. Your goal is to survive and DO NOT push your characters love onto someone who doesn't want it. Pm them first!
☢ Ideas. Don't be afraid to throw them out there and if your shy then just Pm me the idea and we'll talk, I'm nice. I do expect however some collaboration.
