I think that a large boat, like a yacht for example, would be a very good option. A place like that would also be easy to defend since it's on sea and not on land.

Possibly. Are we talking completed and lived in, or are we talking abandoned building project... I would think that anywhere people cluster tightly would be a mistake. High-rise apartments have limited egress points, and as the horde/wave/creeping doom took over the ground floors and surged upward, filling the building like a flood or tsunami, it would just leave people trapped. I think that due to zombies not working elevators, the stairs might not provide the greatest point of egress from the building. As a result, while a good number would sort of drain and trickle out, i think there would be a lot of leftovers. If the building has armed security, decent security protocol to stop an insurge of 'rioters', and they had time to make good on their action plan though... a high-rise could become an island in the sea of the dead. At least most high rise buildings and hotels in Florida are built pretty sturdy to handle rain, storm surge (if on the coast), flooding and hurricanes. This might include backup power, shelter-in-place supplies and so on. An upscale highrise could have a lot of amenities, including things like small but efficient gyms, pool, and so on. It's an interesting idea for sure.

Sounds like a plan... However, somehow everbody are really afraid of zombies swarming their bases. Because of that they try to fortify them too much. When all you have to do is turn on one of thiese things and the whole city would be clear.

...But then again when some jackass takes a shot, were gonna have the whole city on our asses. (Walkers, or The Mob as I like to call them.)

Silent weapons, melee weapons, and suppressed weapons. Guns should probably be used little, for the simple fact that ammunition is a problem.

Best option would probably be "mostly completed but not yet open".

Not really... This is Florida baby. But yeah we could just say empty bottles make super great silencers and the laws of physics don't cound for anything in the Walking Dead.
Sereously, I mean it. Plus we can allways reload the used munition.

Oh, that gives me an idea. Miami's port serves more cruise ships than any other, maybe it's a luxury liner docked there or perhaps anchored a little ways offshore?

Ammunition might not be hard to come by at the moment, but the minute the zombies start showing up, people will lock and load. Reloading is a good idea, but you need the right equipment, and the right know-how, and time, and preferably electricity. Inverters can help but you need to know where to find them. I'm not saying you couldn't use guns, just that their use should be judicious and calculated.

Suppressors could be made from oil filters, maglite flashlights (or other flashlight bodies), trumpet mutes, bottles, even a wool blanket and duct tape. The right know-how and a litlte bit of time is all they take, so I don't see that being a problem.

A cruise liner could be good, and they can enact quarenteen protocols and keep the ship off shore, which should help. Smaller boats, zodiacs, wave runners, and the like would proablby be on board and useful for raiding. Yacht might be better. Mobile, easier to handle... but a cruise liner could have a lot more options, but its a lot harder to control if you have to move it, and its a lot of space to manage inside. Tradeoffs.

Of course, the big key is to keep things fun or at least interesting and entertaining.

That kinda puts us in a bigger danger, if a hostile makes a hole in it were pretty much dead... That reminds me: I REMEMBER HOW TO MAKE THERMITE!

Edit: Not that its safe... Actually it's pretty dangerous.

Thermite is awesome, and yes, not particularly safe. But it could be useful. hmmm...

A ship that size would take hours to sink even in the worst case scenario. Plenty of time for an evacuation.

I agree, guns must be used ONLY if there isn't another option. Creating gun powder isn't hard, but yes, you need the right equipment. Creating a suppressor is easy, we could also find real ones, along with threaded barrels, since theyre legal in Florida. And I also support the idea of either a Yacht, or a cruiser (more on yachts side).

I just remembered in Miami they had stilt houses.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stilt_house

Edit: Safe from flood, safe from zombies... A community can be set there - Terminus, but without the cannibals.

I still firmly believe that we should use a ship, preferrably a yacht, although Sifter's suggestion to use stilt houses is very interesting.

But a very important question needs to be answered before we more even further with this, since it's obvious that Verdant is not coming back.

Who is gonna be the new GM?

I was going to raise that question last night, but it kinda slipped my mind. I was out of my mind exhausted when I went to bed. Vote?
