He shut his eyes tightly and created a mind link with Dark, suddenly overloading his sensory capacity with a traumatically loud and screeching sound. He needed to weaken Dark's concentration before he could break out of the dark and fiery chamber that his opponent had created for him. As the mind attack continued unabated, Kyo searched for any structural weaknesses in the coiled whips so that he could escape the containment.

Dark staggers doing his best to fight it off, he does everything in his power to concentrate on the flames. Succeeding he increases the heat of the flames, the attack from Kyo gets louder and louder but he keeps on focusing on the fire. One of them is going to back down, and it isn't Dark.

Kyo, recognising his defeat, dropped the mind assault and rammed into the whips repeatedly, protecting all of the points that made contact with a telekinetic shield. He unleashed a barrage of kicks and punches against it to weaken it as much as he could before plunging his fingers through the fire. Keeping the burns at bay with his healing white magic, he used all his strength to tear a chasm into the fiery chamber.
He hastily dove out and rolled onto the floor before Dark could lock him back in again and charged towards him, throwing multiple telekinetic daggers at his torso while he did so.

Dark smirks as Kyo fell for what he actually wanted. The dark magic that Kyo went through remains on his clothes and body, and with a snap of Dark's fingers flames rise from Kyo's body and clothes.

Kyo fell to the ground immediately and screamed in pain, too steeped in shock and fright to think rationally. He did not think about rolling, nor did he think of combating the flames with his white magic. All he could think of, past the sounds of his own agonised cries, was that the fire was to cleanse him of sin.
This was what he had coming to him; retribution for the crimes he had committed. His screams grew louder as the fire tore across his body until every inch of him was covered, his face melting and distorting gruesomely from the fire as blood and other fluids poured from the wounds on his face.

Dark realizes what he's done and extinguishes the flames. He takes a step but is stopped by Balthazar, who reacts quickly healing Kyo up as much as he can.

"I'm taking him to the Hospital Wing, training is done for the day Dark." He says with a disappointing tone in his voice. He carefully levitates Kyo as they fly out of the gym.

Dark sits back, wondering why he let it linger for so long. Perhaps what he saw last night and letting Aphrodite look through his mind, caused him to repeat what he did when he was a little kid. He wants to go see Kyo but thinks he should give him sometime to heal and rest, Dark straightens up, crosses his legs and begins to meditate.

Scenario 10

A shattering sound filled the air as Avery was sent flying into a window, breaking the glass entirely. She collided with a few tables and chairs, sliding along the ground and toppling over the objects in her path. Her vision is clouded by black specks, and the figures in the room look like nothing more than blurry shapes.

Avery attempted to muster the strength to pull herself up, her arms shaking as she carried her weight on them, but collapsed back onto the ground, exhausted. Her left leg was in severe pain, as it had caught on the window on her way in. Avery's sight was beginning to refocus, so she heaved herself onto her right side to look around, taking pressure off the other leg. Pain shot through her as she was forced to use her left leg to push herself over and it fell limp beside her when she had done so. The taste of blood had filled her mouth, and Avery licked her lips only to receive more of the metallic flavour.

There were two people in the room, a teacher and yet another unfamiliar face. She really needed to get around more.

Scenario 10

John smiled at the kid standing in his doorway. "A new arrival, huh? I'm not the headmaster, but-" He was interrupted as Avery flew through his window, causing him to back up and get out of the way. It took a moment for what just happened to completely register, but when it did, he was quickly by her side. "What on earth happened to you?" Then he noticed that she had a nasty injury on her leg and it was spilling a lot of blood. "Geez." He turned to the new kid and asked, "You wouldn't happen to be a healer, would you?"

"I have no idea," she groaned, blinking her eyes repeatedly. "There was this-this person running towards me, then a flash and next thing I knew I was flying through the air." Avery genuinely had little to no clue about what had just happened, she had blacked out for a couple seconds before crashing through the window.

She made an attempt to begin to heal herself, glowing white tendrils starting to wrap themselves around her leg but they quickly recoiled and dissipated into the air. Avery tried again but to no avail, the same results occurring somewhat unsurprisingly. Her forte wasn't White Magic after all, so leaving it be was probably for the best, just in case she accidentally blew herself up.

"Charos," Jesse said softly when asked if he were a healer. From the shroud that Charos hid, rarely leaving Jesse's side, he emerged, his pale decrepit form hovering by his summoner's side. "The girl," Jesse spoke in almost a whisper, pointing towards the student who made an explosive entrance. Charos's form moved through the air with a graceful air about him, his robed hands reaching out toward the young woman. "I am," Jesse finally said acknowledging the professor, "Charos is my aide in these types of situations." The robed hands of Charos slid beneath the injured woman, passing through the solid floor beneath her as if it were air. It slowly lifted Avery as is she was weightless, her entire body seemingly being suspended as if the ground was still beneath her. Jesse approached the young woman, looking towards the professor for a moment before focusing on the girl. "I hope you don't mind," he said giving a warm smile as he extended his hands toward her leg, keeping his palms just beyond her wound.

"If it helps, you can stare at me. Makes the process easier for some people." He said simply, his eyes focused on her most grievous wound. Slowly light began to form beneath his fingertips, flowing like waves across his entire palm until his skin was bathed in a golden light. Charos's beady black eyes were fixated on Jesse's face, patiently awaiting his next order, oblivious to the surrounding world. "So what's with the number?" Jesse asked nonchalantly, trying to distract his patient from the situation while he dealt with the wounds. "Oh, this might feel a bit strange," he decided to quickly add, moments before tendrils comprised of the light from his palms began to slide down to her leg and crawl into the wound. The sensation would be a warm flooding sensation, like drinking scotch on a cold winter evening, and would encompass her entire leg wound. Several moments would pass before the leg wound was sealed and during that time, Jesse moved one hand to her head, putting his palm which still contained some of the light against her forehead. "I'm going to see if there's anything else that needs immediate treatment." He told her matter-o-factly, looking toward the professor. "Perhaps it'd be best to find someone who belongs to this school to finish patching her up, without fully checking I'd be willing to say she broke something and fractured a few ribs."

Avery couldn't help but feel afraid as the creature lifted her up, the way it moved so elegantly through the air to its owner's command appeared somewhat haunting to her. She remained silent as Jesse moved closer, but obliged when he offered for her to watch him. Her gaze lazily drifted from his elongated fingers to his face, shining eyes almost hidden by his hair.

"Oh, it's a long story..." she replied, rubbing her marked wrist with her gloved hand and turning it downwards. She winced as the unfamiliar sensation flooded her leg, the white tendrils enveloping her leg in light. Avery didn't particularly like the feeling, but she wasn't sure whether it was meant to be enjoyable or not, so she remained silent as Jesse continued his work. One eye closed as he pressed a illuminated palm to her forehead, patiently waiting as he completed his sentence.

Avery held a certain respect for White Mages after all, they did a much more efficient job than ordinary doctors. The world needed more of them, frankly. Her eyes widened for a brief second and Avery had to refrain herself from reaching out to Jesse's wrist as he stated that it might be better to had her over to someone else. This unknown boy seemed rather apt in his line of work, and good at it too judging by how he handled the situation so naturally and fluidly, as though he did it almost every day. Unfortunately, she realised he was probably right. Although Avery felt she could trust him, he would have every opportunity to stab her in the back if left to finish the job. She hoped he wouldn't do that.

"Or you could... nevermind," she muttered in a hushed voice, averting her eyes to the creature that floated idly to the side.

"Yes, I suppose I could." Jesse said without looking towards her, his eyes fixated now on her torso. The hand that was against her forehead drifted to her torso, his fingers gently pressing down against her ribs just below her right breast. He wanted to be entirely sure that the rib that his diagnosis said was broken was in fact. The slight bump he felt that did not match her other ribs clued him in on the precise location of the fracture. "I'm sorry, that probably hurt a lot, but I had to be sure." he said, giving her a brief apologetic look. "You only managed to fracture one rib, so we're going to count ourselves lucky there. I'm going to do something that should patch up your rib and take care of the cuts you got coming through the window." Jesse explained as he began, wanting to involve everyone in the room with what he was doing. He was neither a student nor a recognized wanderer and he had a summon who hid in a shroud that followed him at all times and looked like death himself, so it wasn't entirely out there for people to have some distrust.

For this advanced spell, Jesse's breathing slowed until it almost reached a halt. The shine behind his golden eyes intensified to the point that sunlight seemed to spill forth from them and soon Avery would be able to feel a sudden cool shoot across her body, beginning with her fractured rib. The feeling would be reminiscent of jumping into a lake on an cool autumn eve. The feeling that would soon replace it would be akin to sitting before a crackling flame, soaking in its warmth until your flesh feels bound to ignite. Her rib would mend itself during this process and the cuts and gashes along her body would begin to seal shut, any wet blood being drawn into the wounds before they shut. "I believe I'm done," Jesse said nearly a minute after the process began, the light from his eyes fading until his golden eyes were reduced to a dull orange. Their color would return soon enough, as would he energy, but for the time being he was somewhat spent. "Charos," Jesse spoke towards the apparition, the being immediately understanding what Jesse wished in a wordless conversation. Jesse's arms slid beneath the young woman's knees and just below her shoulders as the unseen force Charos held her with dissipated. Jesse took a step towards a standing desk and placed her on it, Charos disappearing in the several moments after his service concluded. "Everything should be well," Jesse said, giving the girl a small smile before taking a small step back, "You'll wake up with some bruises tomorrow morning and a sore chest, but beyond that you should be fine."

Avery slowly twisted her upper body and stretched a little, feeling a bit disoriented after having gone from crippled on the floor to near-fine in such a short amount of time. She gently prodded her rib and examined her leg, looking for any noticeable differences from before to now. "Well, thank you. A lot, actually. If there's anything I can do to return the favour, let me know," she slid off the desk and moved her injured leg around. Avery pushed her dishevelled hair back and went to retrieve her headband which had flung itself off her head and across the room as she fell. Slipping it back into place, Avery suddenly remembered something and quickly searched her pockets. From her right pocket a brightly wrapped sweet came out in the hand that searched it. "Here," she said, handing Jesse the candy. "I don't really know why I have this, but you can have it. I'll go send someone to clean this up." Avery hobbled out of the classroom, slightly astounded as to how fast that entire scene had gone. Plenty of questions were on her mind, particularly why she had been flying through windows the first place. Avery had plenty of time to figure it out later, anyway.

John sat back throughout the scene, merely observing quietly. When Jesse looked to him for permission to continue, he simply nodded and continued to watch. His eyebrows raised slightly when he summoned Charos, which seemed to greatly interest him. Once Avery left, John rose from his desk, which he'd sat behind not long after the whole scene began, and approached Jesse. "A summoner and a healer. An interesting combination, but useful, I must admit." He stopped in front of Jesse and then looked over to him. "As a summoner, you may find yourself in my class. What's your name?" He went back to his desk and sat down again before gesturing to a chair in front of it, which a skeleton had pushed into place. The skeleton was previously hanging by the board, which seemed like your typical skeletal model at first. The fact that it was more than just a model may not have come as a surprise to Jesse, considering the school he currently found himself in.

Jesse smiled and shook his head at the notion of him asking the girl for a favour. What he did wasn't a service or a favor, it was a necessity. Now if she wanted her scars to be taken care off, then she'd owe him a favor for the sheer amount of energy and effort it would take. "Count this as your favour," Jesse chuckled, pocketing the candy that the girl handed him, his eyes following her as she quickly moved out of the room. She seemed nice enough, perhaps they would become friends. Jesse mentally shrugged, looking back towards the professor now. The man was no longer behind his desk and seemed to be observing him, which was interesting to say the least. 'Looks like I might've caught your attention,' Jesse thought with some relief.

Jesse had no doubt that the skeleton who was previously hanging by the board was among the professor's lowest tier of summons. Jesse gave the summon a polite nod, taking the seat that the skeleton had pushed into place. The jitters Jesse had when first entering this room had long since gone and now he felt he could talk to the professor more naturally, having just halted the conversation to heal a girl that burst through the nearby window. Jesse's eyes met John's, the wheat coloured glow finally returning to his eyes. "My name's Jesse Wolfe," he answered, "You can call me either name, I go by both." Jesse wanted to ask what was so interesting about his combination, perhaps it wasn't common to have a wanderer who was without the ability to fight, though Jesse doubted John was very intimate with white magic. After all, with enough creativity anything could become a weapon, even in the hands of someone who opposed violence as much as Jesse.

"And what's your name, professor?" Jesse asked, giving a cursory glance to the skeleton, curious as to how useful the summon was. Jesse had certainly hoped that the professor's best summon wasn't a measly skeleton, but he didn't have much to go off of. Up until this afternoon, Jesse had yet to meet another wanderer. Their entire world was still a mystery to him.

Scenario #13

Unable to find even a fleeting modicum of peace since Kyo's return to the Academy, Carolyn nervously paced up and down the hallway outside the Black Mage Guild's assembly hall where breakfast was taking place, the completion of her duties meaning that the only task on hand was to wander aimlessly and cogitate on the terrible decision she was making or would make.

They had all heard the man, loud and clear. As brutal as the murder had been, there would be many (including the vindictive side of Carolyn) who would find joy in the dispatching of an anti-wanderer murderer, child-killer and rapist. On the other hand, Kyo had committed one of the same acts that the victim had been condemned for. Even more saliently, the taking of another's life suggested that Kyo was not mentally stable. What if he lost his way again? Would he end up hurting someone inside the Academy?Would that blood be on her hands?

Carolyn stopped and leaned against the cold, marble wall. The chills that shot up her spine did not stem from the temperature of the wall, unfortunately, but from another maddening question. What if he didn't hurt anybody? Reporting the severity of his crime would surely lead to him being imprisoned and the already fragile reputation of the Academy would be tarnished. And what if Alvarez deemed the timing of her admission as unacceptable? Would she lose her prefect badge or, even worse, be expelled from the Academy?

All of these questions swirled through her mind like a destructive torrent of misery, vaporising any shred of optimism. Carolyn was in a dire situation and, for the first time in her life, she had absolutely no idea what to do.

Scenario 13

Cancer walked down the halls of the Black Mage Guild; he had no classes today (that he could remember), and if he had, he would be too occupied thinking about the other night where he witnessed a murder. He didn't know who it was, because he or she was masked and shot off into the night rather quickly. While everyone has their reasons (and according to Cancer, even something as serious as killing someone), it interested him more on who the masked person was. Was it a one-time thing? Or was it some sort of pro-Wanderer vigilante, hiding in the night and seeking justice?

He passed by Carolyn on his way down the hall, and waved. While for some reason she was at the scene of the crime, he didn't know why. And he wanted to know why. Curious bastard.

The abrupt departure from her reverie was caused upon the sight of that stupid, meretricious helmet that she detested so much. Although she had previously considered Cancer a mild oddity, she now recognised him for the destructive and psychopathic cretin that he truly was. Ripping herself off the wall, she grabbed Cancer by the throat and shoved him hard into the wall, her own terrifyingly furious expression reflected back at her.

"You fucking psycho!" she growled at him, her forearm digging into his neck. "You sick, son of a bitch, you motherfucker!"

Carolyn was very fortunate that most of the student populace was having breakfast in the assembly hall and would not be out wandering the hallway outside but, at this point, she didn't care.

"You goaded him into doing it!" she snarled. "Out of all the things you could have done, you fucking encouraged him! I should rip your heart right out of your fucking chest you useless piece of shit!"

Carolyn ground her teeth together, wishing she could smash open Cancer's helmet to get a good look at the man underneath. Stringing together obscenities could only assuage her fury for so long.

"Ah! Ahhh!", bellowed a surprised and hysterical Cancer. He flailed his arms and legs uselessly around after he was pinned down by the throat by his favorite prefect. "Help! Help! I'm getting molested! I'm getting MOLESTED!"

He stopped after Carolyn called him mean names and talked about "goading 'him' ". "Oh, you think I was serious about that? I didn't think he would've actually done it, but LOW AND BEHOLD that fuckin' psycho did. ..And hey.. wait.."

There was a pause. "If you rip me heart out of my chest, then you're no better than 'he' is!", Cancer said with air quotes. "Whaddya think about that?"

Scenario #14

Volunteer hours were supposed to be easy. Trying to save a man with multiple third-degree burns, however, was not. Mei was supposed to be learning how to set things on fire, not treating the product of fire.

The first hour was the worst. Layers of skin were cracked open and blackened. The patient's face looked like bloody charcoal, almost unrecognizable as belonging to a human. Her skill in white magic was nowhere near enough to directly assist the head nurse of the ward. Instead, she was relegated to more menial tasks: handing instruments to the nurse, running for supplies, changing bandages, etc. It was a long afternoon of what could only be described as surgery, an act that was seldom performed at the Academy.

The sun was just now beginning to sink behind the Ceteris skyline when Mei had returned to the patient's room. She promised the head nurse she'd come back and change out his bandages before dinner. The nurse had to take off early, completely drained from the surgery.

Entering the hospital ward, the same antiseptic smell greeted her as it did every other Tuesday afternoon this semester. The feelings of both pain and white magic were almost palpable here, something that made her cringe when she first started here. Tonight, she merely walked towards the closed curtains around one of the beds, all business, and pulled back the curtain.

The patient hadn't seemed to have moved since he was placed in recovery. Good. Closing her eyes and concentrating, she was able to get a superficial glimpse of his vitals. Breathing: slowed. Eyes: closed. Any idiot could tell this guy was sleeping. Even better, it'd make her job quicker. She walked past the curtains, turning her back to the bed, looking for a roll of gauze.
