Hi there (: !

Here's Zarca. I'm a total newbie at pbp roling and English is not my mother tongue. Yeah, I know, you must be wondering what I am doing here... Well, I always wanted to try pbp roling but I guess I was just too shy -I still am >_<, lol. Now I think time has come for me to try my luck and Role Player Guild just seems to have something for anybody. Actually, I've seen there's a "Free Roleplay" section which -I'm hoping- will be perfect for me.

A little bit about me: I like writing, reading (recently read Harry Potter again) and watching stuff (used to watch lots of anime before but now I'm more into films). Who knows? Maybe in a couple of months pbp will also be in my hobbys list. I'm planning to start with exotic characters at first so that they fit with my way of writing and they're lore-friendly regarding the plots. I don't know how fast I'll learn but I promise I'll do my best and try not to be a big burden -_-u.

Any tips for newbies will be welcome!

See you around ;)

Not sure what you mean by 'exotic' while still being lore-friendly. Exotic implies that it stands as out-of-place in its current surroundings.

I'd recommend playing more towards wide-eyed newbie-characters rather than established legendary figures. Allows other players to take you and your characters under their wing in-character and out-of-character more easily without it looking as though someone is spoon-feeding answers to the physics proffessors.

Lol. Thanks for you reply Foster ;).

By 'exotic' I mean characters who come from fay away lands and may have an accent or a particular way to talk -so that my writing style and mistakes go along with the character and do not get people out of the story- and even if they stand out a bit, lets say, they stand out for a reason: they are travelers from a lost region somewhere and do not master the language perfectly, etc. which may be better creating a more "common" character who actually stands out because the way (s)he speaks doesn't read that natural (?).

On the other hand, I like your suggestion of keeping it simple (: plus it means much less work for me at first, avoiding trying to come up with a complicated story for a character that in some scenarios may not fit (superhero with an exotic background in a superheros rpg and so on).

By the way, what would you consider to be a newbie-character? I mean, generally speaking. I guess the answer is not so simple because it would depend on the universe you are in but some general guidelines would be useful if you can think of any. I do not want to abuse your kindness anyway. Thanks again for your tip, Foster! ;)
