That's a lot of how Ded Fonez operates. They mix legit business, in music, fashion, club ownership, some hotels, transportation/logistics, while also dealing in drugs, sex, guns, piracy, cybercrimes (hacking, cyber-espionage) and surveillance. I think that they also hire mercs, but they have their own hitters and enforcers... they'll get a little more dirty than the Sleeping Moons.

Something for the Sleeping Moons is private security firms. They are multi-million contracts, and make billions per year, and can operate legitimately or illegitimately. Course private security is just a fancy word for merc. Something else to consider, a lot of ex-spies and spooks become gun runners/arms dealers, so SM and DF would both have access to decent people.

Another side thought is perhaps DF and SM might be working together under the table, or they could be in direct competition with each other. Either way works for me. I would think that perhaps DF might have an issue with High Society types, since they can be very judgemental, snobbish, and conservative and so on... Not all are like that, but a lot. Thoughts?

I would enjoy it, maybe the matter of an alliance being brought up later? As X is very different from how his father lead the SM, as he is treating it more or less as a yakuza clan would act. He is strengthening his own people, while keeping the contracts, legal and otherwise, and yes private security would be a main asset for them you are right as they have the money to throw around for it. X is way less conservative than his father was, it's just taken time away and time to himself for him to actually form his own thoughts on the other gangs.
