Some of Steve Roger’s blood was leftover from World War II, and it was during this time that the old bunker was opened and some of the vials found. It was not until the late 1970’s that two scientists working together on Project Chrysalis managed to reverse engineer some of the alterations – and improve upon them using more modern techniques. One was killed, the remaining survivor, Maggie Walsh, gifted the super-soldiers mentally, as well physically. A side of effect of their enhanced healing – almost as fast as Wolverine’s, was that their blood had healing properties.
They resemble humans of Caucasian and African descent while their sister race, the Vanir, resemble humans of Asian descent. Their body tissues are three times as dense as that of humans which contributes to their superhuman strength and durability. They heal remarkably quickly and can even recover from fatal blows. They live for an average of five thousand years due to their healing abilities. Their blood is red, like humans. While able to withstand human blows and even human-made projectiles, they can be wounded with Earthly metals, given enough strength.
All appear to be a sub-species of Human that are very difficult, if not impossible, to kill, they are very similar to humans, yet cease ageing at a point, and can heal from all injuries almost instantaneously. Evidently, one cannot know if they are an Immortal until their death. The more science minded immortals believe that apotheosis is the result on an intensification and modification of the electromagnetic field around their bodies, followed by a re-sequencing of the DNA which causes a form of instant tissue regeneration which was coupled with a form of perfect biological renewal. It cannot be duplicated by any known means as there are countless unidentified factors at work. Over the first few months of immortality many develop heightened strength, stamina, agility and speed – usually starting around five times that of normal humans. Many also become more physically fit than mortals, gaining greater muscle efficiency and neural control.
Its exact effects are unclear, though so far every individual injected with the serum has suffered begun bleeding from the eyes immediately after injection. If the subject survives the ordeal then they awaken after a few hours with the serum in full effect with strength, endurance, durability, and speed increased to superhuman levels (muscle density is similar to common concrete, sufficient strength to break down giant reinforced steel doors) in addition, to a healing factor it also enhances the user's senses. In order for the serum to work properly, a sedative must be administered along with it, otherwise the recipient will die.
Vampires (scientific name Sanguine vampiris, known to the ancient Sumerians and Praxians as Akhkharu) were a powerful species who in ancient times enslaved humanity. Eventually the humans rose up against their oppressors and hunted them to extinction, with the help of immortals – thus there is a long enmity between the two species. They used their advanced knowledge and technology to enslave humanity becoming the pharaohs and kings of civilizations such as the Egyptian, Greek, and Roman empires. Under their rule the world entered into a golden age; science, technology, arts and architecture made enormous strides because the vampires' influence. While humans were discovering what fire was, vampires were building an empire. The Akhkharu enjoyed greatly enhanced strength, speed, reflexes and senses. In addition they were immortal and are highly resistant to injury, they also possess an accelerated healing factor allowing them to recover from wounds that would be normally fatal to humans. They have the ability to understand another person's identity and native language by tasting their blood. Recognizable by their solid black eyes, sharp teeth and retractable claws at the tip of each finger, they feed on human blood, although Helen Magnus was able to create a serum which suppressed this need. Contrary to many human myths, vampires are not affected by sunlight, crucifixes, or garlic and can not transform into bats. These myths were perpetuated by the vampires themselves, with the intention of feeding misinformation to any would-be rebels or vampire slayers.
While humans are still perfecting their genetic techniques, the Time Lords did that billions of years ago. Like all Gallifreyans you came from the Looms and stared into the Untempered Schism of the Time Vortex and took a name (what was yours?). During the last Time War you sacrificed your best friend, your TARDIS, managing to transmat off it, to Earth. Lost and with no weapons, to speak, armed with only your intellect – plus ten regenerations.
Gallifreyans were, on the whole, extremely tough and resilient. An average was superior to a human at their peak and could survive some falls which would shatter the bones of humans. They could also survive extreme heat & cold and could handle much higher doses of radiation than a normal human could. Needing far less sleep than humans, and could make do with as little as an hour. A severely-injured Gallifreyan would generally slip into a healing coma, and devote all his or her energy to healing the injury. While in the coma, they would appear to be dead.
They had all the senses possessed by humans but to a superior degree, and also had extraordinary reflexes and precision timing, literally superhuman. The Time Lord brain was much larger and more complex than the human brain.
