I was wondering what your thoughts are on getting started - about how far after the start of the outbreak should we begin the RP?

If you want to RP a male that's totally fine with me, whatever you prefer. And I was thinking when the outbreak first starts, like they would hear reports on the news about the outbreak before it actually hits.

Where would you like the RP to be set in?

I'm more than happy to play a female character. I really have no preference one way or the other. Starting it right at the beginning of the outbreak sounds good. Of course, we'll have to come up with a way for our characters to meet and decide to work together.

As for the where... I'm not overly picky. Maybe near a big, or at least big-ish city... maybe Chicago or something like that?

Oh, and on the CS, for appearance, do you have a preference between description and picture? (and if picture, real vs drawing vs anime)

Personality: Before the outbreak, Alana was a fairly easy going person for the most part. She had her limits of what she'd put up with, of course, and could snap a bit if pushed past them, but mostly could get along with just about anyone. Due in no small part to her work, though, she also has a very serious side that comes out in situations that call for it, and she can pull a completely 180 from partying to handling an emergency without much trouble.
Bio: Born in tiny town Burwell, Nebraska to father Tomas and mother Jeanette, Alana has a sister named Rose, who is two years younger than her. Her father, who had wanted a son, ended up mostly doing the sorts of things he'd have done with a son with Alana instead. This lead to her interest in sports, and a working knowledge of guns (though she hasn't put that to the test in quite a long time) among other things. As soon as she was finished with high school, though, Alana moved to San Francisco, largely just because it wasn't Nebraska. Once there, she worked various random jobs for a couple years before deciding to apply to join the Fire Department, where she's been working since.

Survival Skills: EMT medical training, some hunting/fishing experience from childhood, some mechanics skills.

Personality: Before the outbreak hit Ashley was a very friendly and outgoing kind of girl who would always go out and hangout with her friends and have fun. Ashley would always be the friend who helps anyone in need or would do anything to keep the safe even if it meant herself getting hurt.
Bio: Ashley was born and raised in San Francisco with her mother Sarah, and her father John Holmes along with a younger brother who is seven years younger then she is. Ashley was always very friendly and had a lot of friends that she would hangout with. Ashley went to school and always got decent grades. Every summer Ashley and her family would go out into the country and camp there for about two weeks where she learned how to hunt and fish and also how to shoot a gun. When Ashley turned 20 she moved out of her parents house to live in the city where she tried to follow her career as a singer but works at a clothing store as a sales clerk.
Weapon: crowbar, later on a gun.
Survival Skills: Hunting, fishing, cooking, and shooting small arms.
Job Before the Outbreak: Sales clerk, aspiring sing.

Sure, that works. She could be in there shopping when the news coverage starts, and after seeing what's going on, decide it's time to start preparing for if it reaches further into the city, maybe? They could stop by the fire station where Alana works for gear.

Yeah, I think that's definitely a good thought. There's the possibility of either or both of them looking for their families at some point too, maybe even finding one or two of them.
