Sharphorn smiled, he then sneaked around the training yard and entered at a different angle,
he wasn't nearly as graceful as Runa but for a Minotaur his stealth was not bad,
he charged one of the training mannequins with his powerful charge attack and hit it so hard, the mannequin flew out of the training yard,
afterwards he swang his morningstar and hit another mannequin in the head from down to up, the head disconnected and flew into the air..
"Hey Runa, try to hit the flying head with your daggers!" he shouted to his friend.

Runa, still waiting for Sharphorn to indicate what he wanted them to do to show off their skills, watched him with a bemused expression as he stealthily approached the straw targets from another angle. Honestly, there wasn't much of a point to it, unless he was trying to demonstrate that he already knew how to sneak around. Jorvan's comment that he work on that might have bothered him a bit. It certainly didn't effect his strength, however, as shown by the first dummy flying out of the fenced area and landing with a thud. The fact that he knocked the head off of the second mannequin served as further evidence to his undaunted strength.

"Uh, sure," Runa responded, letting her two daggers fall into her hands before letting them fly through the air towards the head. The fact that her two weapons struck the head were immediately obvious by the change in the path of trajectory of the head, but it wasn't quite clear where the two blades had exactly struck until the head hit the ground again. Then it was clear that the two daggers had hit roughly an eye distance apart, with the right slightly off-center from the eye on the dummy. "I guess that I'm a little rusty with my daggers, Sharphorn," Runa said, going forth to retrieve them from the head of the dummy.

"Great throw, you're deadly acurate!" said Sharphorn to Runa,
"Want to join Thorgili in practicing some ranged attacks?" he asked as he got his crossbow from behind his back.

Despite feeling that Sharphorn may have been a bit too enthusiastic about everything, which was a little overwhelming for her personally, Runa nodded along and followed him over to the ranged targets, releasing her bow from her back and pulling an arrow from her quiver. Standing at the maximum distance of sixty feet from the target that her bow would be able to reach accurately, Runa knocked her first arrow and pulled back, focusing on the target and willing her body to settle. Once the natural movement of the body was minimized and the bow was on target, she let loose, the arrow flying to strike the target a little above the heart. The second arrow she shot flew truer than the first and lodged itself in the top part of the heart. The third, and final, arrow that she shot landed next to the second. "How was that, Sharphorn?" she asked, returning her bow to its place on her back.

"That was a great hit!" said Sharphorn to Runa as he loaded and aimed his crossbow towards a target,
he then pulled the trigger and a big crossbow bolt slashed the air, the hit was powerful as Sharphorn's crossbow was a strong one, made for minotaurs, but the accuracy was average, Sharphorn hit the target in a general chest area just aside from the heart and main artery, he then fired another bolt hitting the target in the stomach area.
"Never was as accurate as you, my friend!" he said to Runa,
"But I hope that my streight and infra-vision will compensate for that.." he added.
"So Jorvan , what you think, will you give us the job?" he asked Jorvan Ru'Cyphus that was standing nearby.

Jorvan nodded with satisfaction as he passed, "So far you've done quite well for yourselves. After dinner, come see me and I can place you in one of our foremost patrols, and provide you with any common supplies you'll need from the wagons. A smattering of more exceptional gear and implements, will also be offered to you at a discount. Thank you for your service. Feel free to keep practicing until then and give any of the greenhorns here a show on how things are done." Jorvan continued helping those who needed more attention, for many novices had shown up for the free instruction, wishing to prepare themselves just in case Cloak Wood needed the support.

((I guess I'll go ahead and do the skip-ahead. :P))

After spending a little more time practicing their skills on the dummies and receiving a few tips from more experienced soldiers, dinner soon rolled around, prompting a halt on all training activity for the day as the people gathered for meal together. The food itself as delicious, consisting of fish, greens, and some fruit, which defied the common belief that all military meals were rather inedible. The atmosphere of the dinner was altogether jovial, as the people who had volunteered to support their home enjoyed their fellowship with one another, heartily telling jokes and sharing details about their lives with their comrades. It was... pleasant, to say the least. In the big city where Runa had grown up, there wasn't anything like that at all. Your friends were just as liable to stab you in the back as a complete stranger.

Before too long, the wonderful meal was finished, but that didn't mean that the people dispersed as Runa had expected. Rather, they stuck around, mingling with one another and carrying on their fellowship. It was interesting that they seemed reluctant to break off from one another, jumping into the next topic of conversation almost immediately after finishing the previous one. But, neither Runa, Sharphorn, or Thorgili had very many ties to the community, so they weren't as involved as the others were. Not to mention the fact that they were supposed to meet with Jorvan to see what patrol he would stick them with. "Hey, Sharphorn," Runa said, tugging on her friends sleeve. "Do you think that we should go see Jorvan now?"

Sharphorn enjoyed dinner a lot, although he was known for his famous sentence " The best fish is a piece of meat!", this time the fish was so good he was swallowing it one after another.
When finished eating he socialized a little to get to know the local fellows, he didn't want to tell to much about himself or his friends, being escaped slave and all, so he mostly told jokes.
"..hey guys, how you know that a minotaurs wife was unfaithful? You don't, he already has horns anyhow!..." he was just in a middle of telling that joke when Runa tugged his sleeve.
"Yes, it's a good idea" he answered, "Did you managed to find out anything interesting beyond what we already know?" he asked Runa quietly.

"No, nobody has said anything really interesting," Runa said, shrugging. They were all to busy gossiping about one another to really find anything interesting whatsoever. She stood then, leaving her plate and silverware for the staff who were bustling around to take care of. From there, she and Sharphorn walked around looking for Jorvan, asking people if they had seen him every once in a while. Eventually, they found him talking with several other high-ranking officers discussing matters in hushed tones. Whatever it was, it seemed pretty important, and Runa was hesitant to intrude. "What do you think we should do?"

Right before they left the dinner table, Thorgili that was eating surprisingly quietly the entire time asked to talk to them in private,
"I met one of my old friends that I thought was long dead.." said the dwarf, "..he knew my old times spouse ...turns out I have a son!!" he continued with a smile in a cheerful tone of voice, "I'm sorry old friends but I have to find him, so this will be our last meal together for a while.." , after that Thorgili took his backpack and weapon, waved to his friends and left towards the exit from the town while singing a rather happy dwarfian song..

Sharphon wished his friend good luck and returned talking to Runa.
Later that night when they found Jorvan talking to the officers, Sharphorn didn't waste any time on formalities, "We are ready to go!" said the minotaur to Jorvan in a loud voice.
