Park stood at his bus stop with his head down and head phones on. He wasn't exactly friends with anyone on his bus. Acquaintances really. He just found it best to go through school with his head down. Kids were cut throat, this was the best to avoid that vicious energy from being aimed at him. Abigail was somewhere talking to boys in his grade. Which was kind of gross. Not only was it his sister but she was only fourteen... Probably had her bleach blonde hair wrapped around her finger too. Their mom hated it. Having just immigrated from Korea shortly after having Abigail, she wanted her kids to be proud of that part of their lives. She felt like Abigail was trying to get away from being Korean. Last year, she had asked for blue contacts and Park thought that their mom was going to kill her. She said it wasn't fair that she got to mad at her when he didn't to deal with her drab brown eyes. But it wasn't like he had asked for them.

The music escaped from one of his ears as his headphone was lifted off of it, "Whatcha listening to?"

Park looked at Elle, she was a friend of Abigail's. So, she was younger and just like his sister flirted a lot, although, she did it a lot less than his sister. He cleared his throat and removed his headphones, hanging them around his neck, "I was listening to The Stills."

"Oh sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you. Who are The Stills?" She asked innocently. Park was slightly curious if she really didn't know who they were or just wanted to stop him from putting his headphone back on. After all, she clearly meant to interrupt him. How would one not be aware that they were interrupting someone while removing half of their headphones. He shrugged, "An old band..."

She nodded, "You are really knowledgeable about music, Park. I bet you just listen to the old dead guys... God!" She said out of no where, "I would kill for your eyes. They are so haunting and gorgeous."

"Thanks..." Had it been any other girl, Park might have put his headphones back on after answering her question. However, she wasn't just any other girl. She was his sister's best friend, and Abigail would probably beat him if he didn't treat her well, and he couldn't deny that she was hot.

Misaka was being fussed over by her Grandparents. It was her first day of her new school today and they were really worried about her, they knew she wasn't fluent in English and were worried she wouldn't be able to understand her teachers. Neither of them were completely fluent either, they knew just enough to get by on a daily basis and if there was an emergency. She smiled at them and assured them in her broken English they she would be fine. She smiled and waved goodbye as she walked out of the door. She knew what bus to catch and where the stop was so she was okay for the first hurdle of the day.

As she mad her way around the corner she saw a good few people stood at the bus stop. She wasn't really all that nervous, she figured that she was fine on the tube in Tokyo so this should be a walk in the park for her. She made her way over to the stop. She saw a boy with his head down then a girl came and took an earphone out and begun speaking to him. She smiled, as she looked around at everyone and saw they were all chatting with each other and having fun, and saw one girl, Korean looking flirting with a group of boys. She felt her pocket for her iPod and a little panicked look moved across her face. She had left it at home.

Damnnit! Now I have no music all day She thought to herself. Mentally kicking herself, she knew the first day was either going to be so fast she wont know where to turn her head or so slow that she would want to die. She wanted her iPod in case it was the latter. She sighed. Not much she could do now, the bus would be here any moment. She just stood and waited. She was wearing a bright over sized hoody and some denim short shorts, which you couldn't see because of her oversized hoody, it was like a dress. She wore some tights and a pair of blue platformed converse. She also tipped her outfit off with a baseball cap that she had on back to front.

She folded her arms as she awaited the school bus.

Park stood there awkwardly as Elle spoke more so at him than to him. He wasn't exactly listening, he had music running through his head, despite the lack of actual music. He spotted a girl walk up to their stop as cross her arms as she waited. She must be new, Park thought, he figured that was a kind of style that one did not forget easily. Abigail walked over to them, giggling, "I wonder how many tickets the fashion police would give her."

Park looked at his sister, he knew the comment was directed toward Elle but he didn't like hear her poison. He sighed and shook his head, speaking to her in Korean, "Don't talk about people like that."

"Why not? She is asking to be talked about," His sister replied. The two of them rarely fought in english. Their mother hated when they argued in English around people because they could understand and it was rude. Park felt as though talking in a different language around people who didn't understand was worse. He figured that his mom felt that she could have a better understanding of their fights, so she could shut them down. After all these years, it just kind of stuck. Park grabbed his headphones, "It's bullying. Don't make me tell mom."

"Snitch," She said back before grabbing Elle's hand and pulling the reluctant girl away from her brother. He never would tell his mom, but Abigail had never given him reason to. She was quite scared of their mother's wrath. He smirked and looked over at the girl as he pulled his head phones on. The Eagles were playing in his ears as he looked at her. She seemed to be.. maybe Japanese. He wasn't fully sure. He might have walked up and spoken to her but Abi was right. The girl was asking to be talked about and it wouldn't be in a nice way. She held her head high and that was against Park's head down rule.

Once the bus arrived and smiled at the driver as she got on and took a seat near the back. She pulled out a magazine from her backpack. It was a Japanese fashion magazine 'Tokyo Fashion'. All about the fashion that was going on in the streets of Harajuku. It was her favourite magazine, she spent a lot of her time in Harajuku as she worked in one of the fashion stores. She often had her picture snapped either for the web page or the magazine.

She saw out of the corner of her eye two girls giggling and pointing at her. It was the girls at the bus stop, the one who was talking to the boy and the other one getting all the attention from the boys. She frowned slightly, she found the fact that they were pointing and laughing at her rather rude. But she was told this was america, people would be rude if they didn't like something about someone. That's one thing she missed about Japan, people were always accepting of everyone. Well, at least where she spent most of her time anyway.

She ignored the girls and turned back to her magazine, once the bus arrived at the school she got off and made her way onto the campus. She looked around and it was strange for her to see everyone wearing normal everyday clothes to school, she was used to a uniform. She took a look around herself to try and adjust and made her way into the school. As she was walking down the corridor a boy ran past her and knocked her flying. He stopped and looked around "Oh my god I am so sorry!" he said quickly as he helped her back to her feet.

Once to her feet she looked at him and smiled "It is okay" She said kindly, her thick Japanese accent coming through. "Oh, you're new here!" he said smiling, she nodded. He held a hand out to her, she shook it and bowed politely to him. He laughed a little and bowed back. She liked this boy he was friendly. "I like your hair" she said pointing at his red and black mop. He grinned "Thanks, I love your hoody" He laughed once again, she enjoyed his laugh it was sweet. Once they had finished exchanging pleasantries he offered to help her find her first class, which was coincidently his class too, they shared the same lessons. Misaka was rather happy about this, she seemed to have made a friend already.

Park looked up at the bus when it arrived and hung back as everyone climbed on. He was always one of the last kids onto the bus. Beat having to try and push and bump against each other to get a seat in the back. Even without the pushing he always managed to get the back seat in the bus. He sat there a few times last year and now, no one decided to try and take it. Which was slightly amusing because he wouldn't have done anything other than find a new seat. He sat back and placed his bag beside him, it wasn't that he didn't want anyone to sit beside him, it was more so that he didn't want to have to sit in silence next to anyone, or worse... Talk to them.

He turned his music up as loud as he could but it still didn't block out the noise of the bus. He spotted the girl again, although in her... different attire, it wasn't hard to spot her. She was reading a magazine. Not to far away he noticed his sister and Elle laughing at her. He shook his head and looked down into his lap, keeping his head down to avoid any paper balls being thrown around.

When they reached the school, he walked off the bus slowly and lost sight of the strange girl. He decided that it was best not to get to curious about her. He walked to his first class and threw his bag over his chair before he sat down. Sanders, a friend he supposed, ran into the class and hopped onto the desk in front him so that his feet sat on the chair. He grinned at her, "Did you see the freaks?"

Park rose an eyebrow. Sanders laughed and dropped into his seat, "Just wait."

When Ryan and the girl walked in, Sanders leaned back and laughed, "Birds of a feather, do flock together."

Park punched him in the arm, "Don't be an ass."

Misaka and Ryan made their way into the classroom smiling and laughing with each other. Misaka looked around and saw the boy from the bus stop punch another boy in the arm. She frowned slightly but let it slide as Ryan took her hand and lead her over to where he usually sat so she could sit next to him. She blushed a little as he held her hand. She would be lying if she said she didn't find him attractive. She walked over to the back with him and took a seat next to his. She got her hello kitty notebook out and her cute hello kitty matching pen.

"Aww! That's so cute" Ryan laughed pointing at her notebook and pen. She giggled "Kawaii" She said pointing at him, she was teaching him the few odd words of her language. He grinned "Kawaii..?" He copied, hoping he got the pronunciation right. She smiled and nodded "Weru done!" she smiled happily, she was still getting used to the 'l' in the English Language.

In Japanese they didn't have them so the majority of the time her 'l' sounded like an 'r' and her 'th' sounds were more like 'd' or 's' and she was still confused as hell on the silent letters like 'knife'. Ryan had offered to help her out if she was stuck or lost with things. She thought that he was very sweet and kind to help a stranger. She hoped more people were like him in the school, though she had a feeling from the bus ride this morning that they were not so nice.

Sanders rubbed his arm and looked at Park, "Ow."

Park shook his head, "Oh shut up. I barely hit you," He leaned back in his seat as their teacher stood up from his desk, "Good morning class and welcome to Pre Calculus 12. I will be your teacher, Mr. Gregr," He wrote his name up on the board and turned back around, smiling, "And if anyone asks if they can buy an vowel. The jokes been heard."

The class laughed a little. Park had heard a bit about Gregr. He was funny, smart, and at times, a bit insensitive. Although, he had also heard stories from people who had been struggling in his class talking about how helpful he was. Others talked about how strict he was. To Park, he was basically a walking paradox. He started to walk around the class room, handing out big think paper back books, "The school board wants us to save some money and work from these lovely books. Says it will be saving paper. So you better keep them because we will not be using every page and that would be a waste of paper."

There were a few more snickers as he walked back and forth, placing books on their desks. He walked over to his own desk when he was done and sat on it. He clapped his hands, "By the end of the year, I will know your names and faces... Right now, that is not the case, so we are going to go around the class and have you introduce yourselves to me... Starting with," He pointed to the row closest to the window and the last seat. Park stared back at him, not really knowing what to do. Mr. Gregr motioned for him to stand up. He did and sighed, "Park Morello..."

Gregr nodded, "The spawn of an interracial coupling I see."

Park wasn't sure what to say that, he smiled a little, the comment could have been worse. He chuckled and gave a nod as he sat back down. Sanders jumped to his feet, he was a guy that liked attention. So this was heaven for him, the entire class watching and all he had to do was say his name. Park's headphones were draped around his neck but snaking up his neck and around his ear was the white cord of earphones. He turned his music on again as everyone started to introduce themselves. Besides, he had always been good at math. Even Pre Cal last year and be easy for him. He assumed the trend would continue. He saw the weird girl stand up, he didn't look at her but did turn down his music. He was curious as to who she was.

She smiled and stood up, bowing as she did so "Misaka Nanaho." She said softly before bowing once again and sitting down. Her voice was soft and gentle. There were a few snickers around the classroom and Misaka frowned slightly. She didn't understand what was so funny. Ryan also frowned a little as he stood up "Ryan Chase" he said his voice was rather growly there were a few girls looking at Ryan, he just flashed them a cute smile and they all sort of blushed and looked away at the same time. Misaka giggled a little.

She was playing with her pen while the rest of the class went around and said their names. Misaka paid close attention, though she wasnt very good at remembering names, especially foreign ones. It took her a few attempts to be able to say Ryan's name. It still sounds more like 'Raianu' but he says its okay and thinks its cute. Misaka was rather good at maths, and enjoyed it. She enjoyed school in general to be honest. There wasn't a class she didn't like.

Park listened as Misaka said her name and saw from the corner of his eye that she bowed. She had a think accent, which made him think that she had just immigrated here. He heard a few kids laugh, including Sanders. Since he was the only one close to him, he kicked one of his chair legs, causing the seat to shift. Sanders looked over his shoulder at him and gave him a confused look. Park leaned back in his chair after that and turned up his music. He looked at Gregr as he spoke, although, he couldn't hear him. He watched as his lips moved, every once in a while matching up with the song he was listening to.

He started writing things on the board, notes. Park wrote them down, it was mainly review, he didn't need to hear any added information yet. Finally, the man wrote down pages that he wanted to be done by tomorrow in the work book. Park flipped open to the page and started to scribble through the process. He kept his head down and his music blaring as he worked and he kept working until Sanders kicked his desk. He was standing, his things gather. Park removed an earphone and looked up at him. He grinned, "Class is done... Come along."

Park quickly gathered his things and stuffed the new work book into his bag before he followed Sanders to their next class.

As the Mr Gregr reeled off the pages he wanted done for tomorrow she wrote them down in her Hello Kitty note book. Once class was dismissed she stood up and made her way out of the classroom with Ryan. "Why do they laugh at me?" She asked Ryan, curious and a little saddened. He turned and smiled at her comfortingly "Because you're different and I dunno what the culture is like in Japan, but if you stick out here you tend to get picked on" He said sadly. "I get it too, emo faggot, gay boy, go and kill yourself, go and slit your wrists you little emo faggot bum boy" he added, Misaka looked horrified. This was awful! She hated school already. At her school in Japan no one picked on anyone, and if they did it wasn't as harsh as 'go and slit your wrists' She didn't know how Ryan coped with such awful comments. "How can people be so mean?!" She said disgusted. Ryan just smiled "Yeah, well, you get used to it, and I don't listen to them anyway, I learnt that a while ago, just ignore them and they'll get fed up of saying it or the'll carry on" Misaka shook her head "Shouldn't have to deal with that...." She said not knowing the last word in English "Acting?" She questioned Ryan he chuckled "Behaviour?" she snapped her fingers "That!" She said sadly.

She followed Ryan to their next class, she saw on her time table it said English. She pulled a face. She was going to struggle in this class. Ryan gave her a reassuring smile as they entered the classroom and took their seats next to each other once again.

Park couldn't see Misaka when they left their math class, which was good. He felt like Sanders would walk behind them and throw paper at the back of their head and he wasn't going to stop him. That was always a bad idea. Being an innocent bystander was better than being the kid being punched in the face. Sanders punched his shoulder, "Football tryouts this Friday."

Park looked at him, "Why are you telling me this?"

"Come on man!" Sanders seemed to think that anything he liked that by extension Park liked. So Park wasn't surprised to hear him when he said, "You love football. And I mean American football, not football" He tried to say it in what Sanders assumed to be a British accent and failed terribly. Not to mention Park preferred football to American Football any day. He punched his shoulder again, "And you are easily the fastest guy in our grade. You'd be running circles around the other team."

Park squinted his eyes, "I don't think that is the objective of football," he wasn't going to lie, he didn't know much about football other than you tried to run the ball to the other side of the field, but that was true with a lot of sport. He shook his head, "Sorry, I'm not interested."

Besides, being on a football team might have spared him from bullying from the football guys but his head would be up for a clear shot of anyone else. Definitely against his rule. They walked into their English class and Park saw Misaka and Ryan were already there. He also saw there were only two empty seats left in the class. One by the window. One beside Misaka. Normally, he'd have fought for the one by the window but Sanders would probably whisper dirty things in Misaka's ear. His conscience wouldn't let him let that happen. He looked at Sanders and sighed, "Take the window seat..." He walked down the aisle and didn't looked at Misaka as he did. Nor did he look at her when he threw his bag on the back of his chair, or when he sat down.

Misaka looked out of the corner of her eye a this Park person which she though park wasn't really a name more a public place. He didn't even glance at her, just point blank ignored her 'Rude' she thought to herself as she frowned. So far she was ready to board the first plane back to Tokyo and saying good bye to this sorry state of a school. If this school was any representation of the whole country she was definitely on the first plane back to Tokyo. She would live on her own, or flat with some friends that had offered before she left. She declined because she wanted to stay with her Grandparents and make sure they were going to be okay but she HATED this place. She had rather an angry look on her face and looked like she was in deep thought.

She couldn't take this she was so ready to just pick her bag up and walk out and go home. But if she did it would look very good on her and her grandparents would worry about her. She let out a sigh as she looked out of the window. Ryan looked at her and mouthed 'are you okay?' which she replied to with a simple nod as she turned her attention back to the teacher. She felt like crying, but she wasnt going to let these people see her cry, god they would probably dig at her more.

Park pulled his notebook out of his bag and leaned back in his chair once more. Sitting behind her, made it a lot harder not to look at her. Especially with the bright coloured clothing. He opened his book and started to randomly doodle as he looked at the back of her hair. If she dressed... less strangely, he though Abigail might like her. They had the common enemy of black asian hair. Their mom wouldn't be too impressed. Your black hair so pretty though, she'd probably say, despite the fact that she had never seen her with black hair.

Realizing that it might look like he was staring, he looked down at his book and scribbled as the teacher spoke about what would be happening in the coming months. It was also stated that the seats they chose today would be written down and would become their permeant seating arrangement for this class. He shook his head slightly, well, maybe she wouldn't make him read anything. He was sure that it would be hard to look passed the neon Misaka to see him hiding behind her. He stole a glance at the back of her head again and realized he hadn't got much of a look at her face.

Misaka wrote down all the information that was on the board. She found it hard writing in English, her through process was in Japanese so writing in a language she didn't think in properly yet was hard. Math was easy just numbers, and any notes she could write in Japanese. English ...well, just the name of the class was obvious as to shy it would be hard for her. She felt as though eyes were boring into the back of her skull and she turned her head slightly to look behind her and caught the Park boy looking at her. She frowned slightly as she turned her attention back to the teacher.

She had to concentrate so much in this lesson just to make sure she was understanding correctly. "Misaka, if you have any problems, just see me at the end of the class and I will go over things with you again to make sure you understand everything" She heard the teacher say to her, she gave a relieved smile and nodded "Ari-... Sankyuu" She said quickly, stopping herself saying 'arigatou'. The teacher smiled. She had already forgotten the name of the teacher which made her feel bad because he was nice and willing to help her.

Park got caught staring, whoops. Oh well, there was nothing else he could really do. He moved between writing and doodling in the margin of the page. He rose his head only slightly why the teacher addressed Misaka. Well, that was nice of him. He guessed that this probably would be her hardest class. There were a few giggles when she thanked him. He couldn't help but smile, it was cute the way her accent distorted the language. He frowned, god, he was going to turn into his dad, falling for a girl with broken English and a language you don't understand. Not that he was falling for Misaka of course. He barely knew her and he couldn't really risk it. Someone would probably punch him and if he did anything to fight back... The school would suspend him, his dad would ground him, and his mom would probably yell at him in Korean and cry.

He sighed and picked up the textbook that he hadn't seen the teacher place on the edge of his desk and opened it. Poetry and short stories. He guessed whatever Shakespeare they were going to be reading was not in this book. He was slightly curious what they were going to read. He had spoken a couple and for some reason it was between Hamlet and Othello. He had even heard that some people also read King Lear but that was in a different class entirely. He looked up at the clock and watched the second pass by. When was class going to end so he could go to lunch?

The teacher frowned at the people who laughed when Misaka replied. He didn't like people picking on new students, just because they were different didn't mean they didn't have feelings, she probably felt so alone right now, no friends with her as she had left them all behind. Once Misaka heard the bell go she packed her things away, she was scared to hell about starting Shakespeare, it was English, but... it was old English, she struggled with normal every day English. She walked up to the teacher a little nervous "Sensei... Ano.. I mean Sir" she said blushing that she just forgot. "My Engrish, it...it is not very good. I do not know how I wiru...cope wis Shakusapeare" She said quietly and nervously. Her English was broken, and not overly good at all really. She could understand bits, but she knew Shakespeare would just kill her brain. The teacher nodded and smiled "Don't worry. I can arrange for some extra after school classes or we could try and get a translator in for you for this lesson if you would like?" He suggested. She liked the sound of a translator but she knew if she had one people would laugh at her more than they already do. "Would like, after curasses" she said smiling, he nodded "And call me Mr Renolds, Sir is a bit too... Posh" he said laughing, Misaka laughed a little and nodded "Mr Renoruds" she repeated the best she could, he smiled and nodded "Mhm, Now if you want to start after school classes you will have to give me this week to set it all up so I will let you know Friday what will happen" she smiled and bowed politely "Sankyuu" she said softly, before she turned and left.

As she walked outside Ryan was waiting for her lent up against the wall. She smiled at him as she walked over, though just before she crossed the hall a group of girls walked up to her and stood in her path. She made her way to go around them but they stopped her "What the Hell do you think you're doing? We came to talk to you" She frowned at their tone. "Sorry" she said softly. She looked at them nervously. She saw the blonde Korean girl with the group and her friend. "What's with your stupid get up? Did you get dressed in the dark this morning?" They all laughed, Misaka didn't quite understand what they were saying, "Get up?" She asked confused, she didn't understand what they were saying to her. The girls all laughed again "Aww she doesn't even understand us! Didn't your parents teach you proper English before you came over here, or are they just as stupid as you?" The 'leader' of the group asked. Misaka teared up a little. Her parents were dead after all. She glared at the girl. "My parents are dead! Now if you have done trying to hurt me I am leaving!" She yelled at the group of girls. She turned and left, she made her way outside and sat under a tree that didn't have many people around and she pulled her knees up to her chest and let a few tears fall down her cheeks. She just wanted to go home now. Ryan had ran after her but lost her in the big dinner crowed.

Park walked out of the class behind Misaka and spotted his sister. He sighed, this was not going to go well. He stood back as the girls terrorized her. The mention of not learning English made his blood boil. He hadn't known a lick of English before coming over here. He couldn't even properly talk to his dad. Sure, he was only three years old but he had the faintest idea of what it was like to have to try and learn a whole new language that fast. When he learnt English, he was at least at an impressionable age. It had been easier for him. He walked over to the girls after Misaka yelled about her parents having died and ran off. He looked at his sister and held her gaze, "Take your friends and leave her alone."

"Oh shut up, Park. What do you have a crush on her?" Abigail said back snidely.

Park shook his head, "No... I'm..." He looked at the other girls, "I'm thinking about how much mom would kill you. She was exactly like Misaka when we came here. You might not remember... but I do. So leave her alone," He stopped talking in Korean and looked at the 'leader', "Stop it."

He then turned and adjusted his bag on his shoulder and left the building. She wasn't hard to spot in her bright red sweater. He sighed and walked over to her. Putting his bag down, he stood in front of her, "Can I... join you?"

She quickly wiped away her tears as she heard a voice and saw shoes. She looked up and saw it was the same guy she saw this morning and the same one that was staring at her in class. She frowned a little in confusion "H-hai.." She nodded "Oh.. I-I mean yes" she said softly correcting herself. She went back to resting her chin on her knees and just looking down right miserable. She hated everything so far, the only nice thing to happen was Ryan. Her eyes were watering up again as she thought of her parents. If they were still here should would still be in Japan and she would still be happy. She was only 9 when her parents had died and she missed them dearly hence why she stayed with her grandparents and came with them because she didn't was to lose them too. She now hated America. She wanted out. She was wondering why this boy had come over to talk to her, she thought he didn't like her due to previous ... non interactions.

Park sat down when agreed to allow him to sit down with her. He did, he was glad that she chose a tree that was a bit out of the way, no one would see them together. Wow... He thought to himself, he was an ass. Here she was crying and he was just hoping no one say them together. He scratched the back of his head, he wished he had thought of something to say before he came here. He sighed and didn't met her eyes, "Sorry... about the girls back there. One is my sister... Kind of feel personally responsible for that one..."

What was he doing? She might not even fully understand him. He rubbed his forehead, pushing his hair away from his forehead as he tried to think about what else to say. Small English though because he didn't know how much English she knew. He bit his bottom lip before giving her a small smile, "I moved here with my parents when I was three... My mom didn't want to raise two kids while my dad was back and forth from America to Korea... So we all came here.... I was lucky... Three years don't really have to know a lot of English anyways... But my mom only knew a little... So, I know how hard it can be... I also know how big of assholes people in this school can be... Myself included."

God, now he was rambling. He shut his mouth, completely regretting the decision to come over and talk to her.

Misaka looked round at the boy and giggled as he rambled on and smiled at him when he finished. "Sankyuu, Parku-san. It mean a lot to me zat you come to talk to me. I had ze impureson you did not like me." she said giving a sad smile. "You do not have to say sorry for your sisters actions" She added "You did not have to come talk to me if you do not like me zough" She added looking down back at her knees. She had got the impression that only Ryan liked her so far, and she didn't know what she had done wrong. If she had even done anything wrong. "I sink I might talk wiz ...grand parents about going back to Japan. I do not like this place. People are nasty" She said sadly. She really was not enjoying her time here and she had only started school a few hours ago! "In Japan, I worked at a designer shop in Harajuku, most of my friends were from der and we hung out at weekends togeder, was always fun" She said tearing up once again. She missed home.
