Yeah, I agree with Nobody there. I understand it SHOULD be able to lift it's own weight, but at that point, it now has nuclear missiles, lasers, an unbreakable shell, AND the ability to lift twenty five HUNDRED tons, 25 times more than another high tier who TOPS the strength requirement. So something has to give with characters who can lift top the strength limits and then also do other incredibly powerful things.

It's also huge, so anyone can hit it from anywhere.

To clarify, Fury could float over to that mech and lay two hands on it, presuming he's in Unbridled Fury he would have drained every fibre of its energy within roughly two minutes.

It could do next to nothing about it.

Because it's so goddamn big it can't even swipe something off it's knee.

(It occurs to me the only real disadvantage purely physical characters have in regards to high-tech and magical opponents is the lack of prep capability, but that's another thing entirely)

Well, there wouldn't be a lack of preparation capability for a purely physical character. They work the same way as you would prep a low tier fight. I know some people tend to think of preparations as some sort of dragon ball z power-up, but in the T1 it simply means setting up your attack before hand.

I'd feel better about 500 tons. That way throwing something like an MBT a significant distance and with a good amount of speed wouldn't be a huge chore. I mean, a strength focused high-tier should at LEAST be able to toss around modern tanks without overly taxing themselves. In my opinion, at least.

Strength is an application of force. So really anything that has to do with the mass and acceleration of an object is up to the mind of the user. Which is practically everything....Its probably better to just play it by ear and accept characters as they come instead of setting hard limits. You could pretty much reason any fantastically thing anyone is doing using force. Winds. Super Sonics. Light beams. Etc...

Wouldn't that attack be flagged as a type of mind control?

Frankly, I don't see them as all that neccessary. How often is lifting going to be an issue?

Uh.. not really.

Hacking can be resisted, so can mind control most of the time.

How is that mind control? He is riding the mech, it's not his character, heck he has three of the things. He should also have some software in place to prevent hacking, though CLockbot uses some mumbojumbo magic to do his madness.

This discussion is becoming cyclical. Why don't we address one problem at a time?

The gigantic mech weighs fuckall, it should be able to lift fuckall. This incredible strength is offset by its entire body being a weakspot.
Trip it, and it will take forever to get back up.
Climb up its back and it will wind up destroying itself trying to get to you.
Crawl into its enormous hands and work your way inside of its body.
Jump into the cockpit and the guy inside is only low tier.
Stuff its mouth with explosives.
The list goes on.

While its offensive capabilities are impressive, and its defensive capabilities seem so as well. It's actually quite defenseless if you can get close enough to it.

Sever the wrong wire in its torso and hell, the thing will be crippled. It's obviously hollow, otherwise it would weigh several hundred more tons.

Mostly because hacking confers you're taking direct control of a piece of machinery. I consider that mech more of an extension of the character itself, not a piece of equipment like a pistol or a sword. Additionally, even if said software does prevent the hacking from taking place, how long can the owner of that character do that before someone starts crying that their powers aren't working as they detailed in their CS?

There's you and your bias again, Khan.

Boerd, refer to this comment: Lifting strength is just a reference point, a benchmark to refer to the approximate strength of the characters. Rather than it being a direct mathematical calculation of their exact strength. Because sitting down and writing down how much force a single punch would do is fucking tedious.

That I don't like Clockbot and his power? True.

Though he kind of has a point about the hacking thing. If the person controlling the machine is taken out of control without being physically taken out of the machine, that would be considered a form of character control.

What we really ought to do, is ban lasers. Unless you are clairvoyant, you can't dodge them. I made my lasers dodgeable by requiring the ship to open an aperture into a shiny lens to allow air to mix with antimatter. Catch the reflection of the moving aperture, you have a few milliseconds.

Not really, I could control your character by crushing him with magic and moving his limbs, but he has plenty of potential to resist it. It's just an attack, albeit less direct than most, but still just as resistible. You only have to look at my fight with Khan, a character with high technology, it barely effected him in the slightest.
