Those episodes were my favorite lol. When they did the Christmas mini-sode specials, or the Natgeo parodies, and that parody of cartoon styles and genres.

If it helps, Ex, Miso, and I are working on something that should get done tomorrow that'll give you all more opportunities. I want everyone to get accustomed to each other and the ship before Eck gives the first mission debrief. I'll let it go through one round of posting so it doesn't get clogged at the beginning. I'll give it a few days depending on how busy everyone is before we start the first mission.

And Dread, we could use a new scientist or engineer if you want. We have two pilots which is more than enough. Clarissa can serve as the co-pilot while she gets adjusted, but she's still a pilot pilot and so is Arthur. We'll figure that out in the IC because it sounds like something interesting we can have some fun with. :) or you can be our actual idiot, lol.

The Apex were close to human in appearance until a breakthrough in research, in accelerated evolution led to the creation of the “Vestigi-Evo Process” (VEP). The VEP allowed the Apex to trade physical devolution for intellectual evolution. Apex are mammals similar both to humans and the "great apes" commonly found on Earth. Before the introduction of the VEP, it is likely they resembled humans even more closely than they currently do, with the "devolution" effect of the VEP causing their more ape-like features (I.E. greater body hair, monochromatic eyes).
Apex society seems to be based around a technocratic totalitarian regime which prioritises the advancement of their species through a highly scientific governmentality. It appears that this regime has held power since before the Apex began experimenting with VEP, which is the primary reason the species was so quickly and so uniformly altered by the process.
At the center of this power structure is the Ministry of Scientific Progression (Miniknog). The main drive of Miniknog is to ensure the ever-escalating socio-scientific development of the race, evolving to become ever more intelligent and technologically advanced. This motivation can be seen both in the systematic efficiency of the species-wide implementation of VEP over only a few short generations, as well as in the technology and architecture of Apex star vessels and planetside facilities, all of which share a uniform ultramodern design which is both highly utilitarian and futuristic.
Apex recorded history only extends backwards a few hundred years, earlier records apparently having been deliberately destroyed by the regime in order to deracinate modern Apex society from any sense of loyalty to or investment in their presumably premodern ancestors.
Distinguishing features of the species include their body hair, absent mostly on their faces, palms and likely the bottoms of their feet and stomachs. They have large ears and distinguished facial hair (often females will also have facial hair), and particularly monochromatic eyes, taking on a glossy black color.

Personality: Rebellious at heart Nathaniel always been against the Miniknog and everything they stood for. He believes strongly in freedom and individuality. He speaks many different languages as most Apex are taught to from a young age. Though he is very intelligent he is headstrong and this impairs his judgement. Stubborn to the ways he was taught and overconfident in the capabilities of his species. Not quick to anger the only thing that will spark a fire in him is support for the Miniknog. Logical at most times but in times of battle or war he loses his sense of morality. (This is a side effect of VEP.) Nathaniel is trustworthy and honest he will always do right by people he considers his friends. He is sensitive to comments about his parents and the conditions of birth (the rape).He doesn't want to work this job but funding for the rebellion is a bit short right now and... Desperate times desperate measures right?

Biography: Born on a rebel soldier transport Nathaniel has been stuck in the action since birth, his father was a Miniknog soldier and his mother was a rebel field technician. He was a child of war his mother being raped by his father, this played a huge factor all throughout his life. Nate was assigned a role as soon as he was born, as are all Apex's and yes this tradition carried into the rebel lifestyle. His role was to be a mechanic, hence the middlename of "Habilis" (meaning handy). But the rebel effort was never wealthy in anything and Nathaniel was always repairing junk warships and scrap heaps. From the time he was of age he was being trained to be an in-field mechanic, which meant he gave a lot of temporary tune-ups. The war raged on and on and the rebels were growing weaker and weaker, the sheer force of the Miniknog could not be matched. Eventually the rebel HQ was surrendered and the Miniknog started a genocide of all the remaining rebels. If any one knew where a rebel Apex was and didn't report it to the Miniknog the penalty is execution. The rebel leaders and the majority of the rebellion has disbanded but the few remaining rebels are working in secret. Launching small terrorist attacks trying to disrupt the Miniknog regime, however the effort is expensive and that forced all of the rebels into holding down actual jobs. Nathaniel just so happened as to pick up this "sweet" job, in which he can use his Habilis talent.
