Sorry about the wait.
Name: Sumeyya Yilmaz
Alias: "Kutsal" or "Holy"
Age: 19
Height: 5'9" (~175 cm)
Weight: 140 lbs. (~63.5 kg)
Appearance:
Overall, Sumeyya is a normal looking girl. Her hair is dark brown, wavy, and falls to just past her shoulders. Light, honey brown eyes gleam at the world. She has full cheeks with dimples, and a stud piercing on the right side of a defined nose.
Personality:
Sumeyya was a headstrong and confident girl, once upon a time. Serious, but not usually dour. Her guiding principle in life has been a general optimism, a faith in humanity that acted as the rock she stood upon. Yes, bad things happen, but people come together to change things for the better. After the events of the past year, she found that faith somewhat shaken. Doubt and insecurity began to set in. Now, she's not sure anymore what she believes in or what her place in the world is.
Biography:
Born to a middle-class family in Istanbul, it didn't take long for Sumeyya to seem like something of an odd girl. Often she would have preternatural insights, knowing things that she shouldn't have or talking about things that would prove to happen later on. Her grandfather, while he still lived, adored her and the things she knew. He said she was a special girl, blessed by God. Her mother didn't appreciate such things filling her child's head, and for her part her daughter scared her. She had tried to shrug it off the way her husband could, but as time went on and she could no longer just chock everything up to coincidence. Sumeyya's older brother and sister liked her because they could use her to get away with things.
As she grew older, she came to understand that she unsettled people more than anything else, and learned to be more discrete. Life was normal, for the most part. She was a modern, liberal girl, with plenty of friends who did well in her classes and wanted to go to college (to be what, she didn't know.) When unrest came to Turkey, it was only natural that she would be out there protesting alongside her siblings and friends. Things became dangerous when the government cracked down and police flooded the streets, but Sumeyya's brother knew better than that. He pushed her to use her gifts to help the protesters carry on and fight back, and overnight she became key to their efforts. She accrued a sort of infamy with what she knew and could do, troublingly amongst the government as well as with the protestors.
Naturally, it came crashing down. Sumeyya's gifts were plenty, but she wasn't omniscient. While they couldn't get to her directly, the government could certainly get to her family. Her final week in her homeland was a tangled tragedy. Her father died, her mother, brother and sister barely escaping with their lives. Her life had imploded around her, but some small amount of fortune remained. It was at the climax of all of this that Puriel contacted her. She had nothing to lose anymore, and decided that if anyone could guide her into not making another mess like this, it would be them.
Power: Psychic
Sumeyya's powers are all psychic in nature, and were latent in her from a young age. She's had no training in them, and often still finds them nebulous to control or use in meaningful ways. It's her hope that Puriel will help her to properly understand, control, and utilize her gifts. The first abilities she displayed were largely related to her extra-sensory perception: psychic dowsing and divination, communication with non-human spirits and the dead, clairvoyance, precognition, and low-level telepathy and mind reading. Her power grew in adolescence, now able to telekinetically manipulate objects and people, mentally project herself into the world while her body stays behind, and even levitate herself or another person for a short period of time.
Skills:
She's a 19 year old girl. Like. I dunno what you're expecting here. Decent enough with computers? Good at texting, definitely. Decent enough at drawing. Fluent in Turkish and English, with a smattering of knowledge in Russian and German.
