Name: Jaldoa
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Age: 54
Gender: Male
Race: Troll
Height: 7ft 2” (Usually stands hunched at 6ft 4”)
Weight: 205 pounds
Physical Description: Jaldoa dresses in standard shamanistic clothing much akin to Native American tribal outfits; he has nothing even remotely resembling armour and simply a loin cloth to protect his modesty. He does however have a bag not unlike a large quiver which is strapped to his back, holding his wards. He has two pronounced tusks and pointed ears. His nose is incredibly angular and his skin is a dark greenish colour. Although incredibly tall, he usually creeps low to the ground and even when standing normally hunches down somewhat. He has a long loping stride due to the length of his legs, with a muscled athletic build from a life outdoors. He never wears shoes, but has hardened soles on his feet not unlike hide, more than capable of taking pinpricks and the like with no harm. He speaks in an accent somewhat like Jamaican or Cuban.
Personality Description: Jaldoa is a shaman, witch doctor and hex master, he fights for the honour of his clan and whenever the will takes him. Although not inherently evil, he has no particular morals on either side of the alignment tree and respects no authority except his own. He follows the whispers of the Loa, the troll gods, and gains his powers through their wisdom. He practises animal sacrifice as part of these rituals. The Troll is cunning and mischievous like most of his race, he himself is somewhat wise as an elder of the clan.
Skills, powers and abilities:
Physically: Jaldoa is a troll, which means he has a few natural abilities which mean he surpasses humans. For one, he has far more greater stamina, capable of running at full speed for at least an hour without tiring.
He can run at about peak human speed, 30mph max.
He has brilliant vision and awareness, meaning he can traverse forests etc without tripping over barely visible tree roots.
His muscles are compact; he can bench around 300kg.
Although his endurance is not particularly more impressive than a human, troll regeneration is unparalleled. He is capable of regenerating from minor wounds slowly during a fight, and can recover from devastating injuries much faster than humans if given the time to rest.
He also has a deep spiritual connection to the Loa allowing him to access his troll magic.
He is trained to use his staff as a weapon; he’s also accomplished at bush craft and has a fair amount of acrobatic ability, climbing trees etc with ease.
Loa magic:
Ward magic:
Ward of Seeing: A branch with an eye fashioned into the head, when thrown it sticks into the ground (or if the ground is unrelenting it hovers above it) and allows Jaldoa to see clearly in the area through his second sight. His practise with the art allows him to still concentrate on the real world as he does this, and the eye illuminates hidden opponents etc.
Ward of Healing: A branch with a smaller branch wrapped three quarters of the way up with twine or rope, it activates in much the same way as the Ward of Seeing and imbues a light healing aura in a small area. It can only affect those he is connected to by the Loa, and obviously it still heals him as well. It works at about one graze every ten seconds, meaning it would staunch blood flow from a cut wound for example in about twenty seconds. It has an effective range of about twenty meters. The range decreases to 15 meters for two people 10 for three etc. Five is the max at a two meter radius.
Ward of Warning: A branch split half way down, it deploys the same as the others. Any enemy which strays within ten meters of it is shocked by Loa magic and the ward makes a loud detonating sound as it disintegrates.
Ward of Cleansing: Loa magic is considered divine, and the undead are unnatural. The ward is a simple pole with three lines cut into the top, and when deployed it immediately releases a short burst of light which causes severe burning damage to spirits and the undead, or clears blighted ground over a larger radius.
Character Equipment:
Voodoo Staff: Crafted from the branches of the Loa tree, a Hex Master’s Voodoo staff is the sign of his power as a witch doctor. Some practitioners of Voodoo choose to wear a mask instead, but it’s optional and Joldoa decided on the staff because it can also be used as a weapon. The wood is incredibly resilient, almost on par to steel, and can be used to channel his power.
Ward Quiver: Like a small basket strapped to his back, it allows him to carry his wards which he can create through imbuing magical energy into the branches of trees cut into specific shapes.
